I've passed by this place a ton of times and to be honest, I've always been skeptical of the quality of the donuts because of how the place was, and I'm glad to find out that I was wrong. Someone brought these into the office and they were actually really good - I ate 2! I had a sprinkle donut and a chocolate topped with almonds and was surprised to find it moist and perfectly donut-y (sometimes they're too cake-y). The icing/chocolate on top of the donuts are really go too. Overall, never judge a donut shop from how it looks on the outside. I'm a fan! read more

I so wanted to like Donut Delite after reading the reviews, but I was incredibly underwhelmed. First, the donuts are nothing to get excited about. They tasted like I could've bought them from a prepackaged box at the grocery store. Second, I was very disappointed with the service. When I walked up to order, I pointed to their board and said, "I'd like to do the half dozen." Meaning, the only half dozen listed on their sign for $6.35. The woman helping me didn't offer any other clarifications, so I started picking donuts. I was super excited to try the jelly-filled, the coconut topping, and the cream-filled. However, once I went to pay she started typing in all sorts of numbers and my total came to $13. Seriously?! I interrupted her and pointed to the sign and said, "I want the half dozen listed on your sign. For $6.35." She looked extremely annoyed and said that the jelly-filled and pretty much every other donut I chose didn't "count." Basically, only glazed and old fashioned donuts were included in the half dozen. She went back and returned the donuts that weren't included, but not without rolling her eyes and doing nothing to hide her annoyance. Well, that wouldn't have happened had she told me from the start. I've never encountered a donut store that only allows you to buy glazed by the half dozen or dozen, and charges extra for something like jelly-filled or chocolate icing. Now I've seen apple fritters, bear claws, and items similar to that costing extra, and that's fine. But, it's a rip-off to try and make someone pay $13 for six donuts. This is a pretty cute place for a mom and pop shop. They sell ice creams, drinks, donuts and other breakfast pastries. The best time for you to get pastries though is in the morning, otherwise, you're just going to be eating the ones that have been left out all day. You should also know what you want to order before you get there. Apparently they shut the TV off on you if they catch you watching and you're taking too long to eat or order. And I'm not saying this because it happened once, but 3 times. Which makes it obvious. I was waiting for the rest of my friends to come before we all put our orders in and the older gentleman shut the TV off on me while I was watching it after speaking to the older lady in their native tongue. They then attempted to pressure me into ordering by having 3 ladies ask me what I wanted to order consecutively, even when I just told the youngest girl (out of the 3 of them) that I was waiting for the rest of my party to arrive before ordering. I understand that their business thrives on people's orders and making a profit but the store was already empty and I hate being rushed. read more

I love donuts. I literally ate donuts growing up every weekend as a treat. As an adult I still like donuts but I am picky about my donuts. I only like cake or old fashioned donut. I don't really like the air glazed doughnuts like Krispy Kreme. On my way from grabbing an iced coffee at Philz I decided to treat myself to a donut. I got an old fashioned maple glazed donut. It's was perfectly crispy and not too sweet. The had a nice soft center but very crispy edges but not too hard where it would hurt your mouth. The glaze and maple part didn't compete and were perfect with the crispy outside and soft donut. Now I want to go back and try to chocolate cake donut with almonds which I was eyeing. read more

Unhealthy Facility: I went to Donut Delite on 6/30/2020 and the worker behind the counter was dry coughing more than twice. She had only one glove on and handling donuts and the cash register. There were no change of gloves nor handwashing during the entire transaction. This facility is unsafe for the public. A health inspection is certainly needed at this store location. I decided not to ask for a refund because I did not want to stay longer in that facility, the donuts went straight into the trash/uneaten. read more

While I confess to loving donuts, I also am freaked out by trans-fats. Doesn't make sense? Too bad. Few places use non-hydrogenated oil, and this sadly isn't one of them. My experience here, sadly, was far from delite-ful. Granted, it was close to closing time, but I can't believe a well made donut would plummet so far in less than a day. We don't have very many fancy donut places around the Bay Area and to tell you the truth I'm not a big donut person myself. So when I try a good donut, it really is a GOOD donut. Donut Delite has the best apple fritters around. Their apple fritters come in two sizes. I can't even tell you how much the small is because I get the large so often and usually share. The large is $2 and is well worth it. The fritter comes moist with tiny chunks of apple. YUM! Their shop is pretty spacious and they sell lotto which is convenient. They only take cash so make sure to have some handy if you don't want to leave empty handed. read more

Had a MAJOR craving for a blueberry fritter that can only be found at Rolling Pins in San Bruno and hubby was not in the mood to take the drive. So we had to find a substitute. Go inside...uhm, the donuts look kinda iffy. Not really mouth-watering; they are DONUTS for cripes sake, where is my inner Homer Simpson reaction to dounts. Okay, let me have an open mind. I go for the chocolate french, hubby goes for the apple fritter since there was much hype on yelp and he loves them and I decide on the donut holes at the last minute since they are 10 for $1. Chocolate French - YUCK-O! It was dry, kinda burnt tasting, kinda stale tasting and where was the moist center?? It was a lil crusty and let's just say I had to have hubby make me a hot beverage so I can dunk that thing into something to get some moistness. Donut holes - DRY..and too doughy. Didn't taste fresh either. Tell me how out of 10 donut holes there are still 6 in the bag? Exactly, usually those things get inhaled since they are usually a one bite piece of donut goodness. Apple Fritter - WHAT the HELL? That again was BURNT tasting...at 1st I thought okay, it looks nice and crispy. Bite..yea, burnt crispy. Not that moist either. If hubby who loves blueberry and apple fritters has it still in the bag and would rather play the Wii than eat it 1st then something is not quite right. All of the above was $3.60. So, I dunno...just because it was 7PM when we got the donuts, they shouldn't have been so stale and dry tasting, this is a donut shop not 7/11. How do you go wrong with donuts? Super dry, practically icing on top, the icing that it did have was dry, and it overall tasted funny. . . Even putting it in the microwave didn't solve the problem. I'm a true believer in fresh donuts. Don't give me a donut that's been sitting out for hours, dense from the oil it was completely fried in. Yeah, not a pretty picture nor a yummy tasting one either. Owned by Cambodians! I learned that most Donut shops are owned by Cambodians...this fact from my Cambodian friend...hehe. They're really friendly here. and their donuts are fresh and doughy, just how i like them. I usually get the glazed or chocolate, nothing too fancy. One time, i ordered a dozen (an assortment), and they gave me a few extra, it was so nice! and it wasn't even just another glazed donut, they gave me a glazed twist and a jelly filled! I'm a fan of the "few extra" with a purchase. I think i tried one of their cake slices once, and it was ok. I haven't really tried their other stuff (ice cream and cakes). Maybe I was in a good mood because public transit worked in my favor. Maybe it was because I was going to be more than on-time to work. Whatever the reason, Donut Delite shined like a beacon when I wanted to reward myself for having such a smooth morning. The news was blasting, the coffee was brewing, and the donuts were bountiful. After trying Eagle Donuts in Bernal Heights (and LOVING it), I didn't know if this place could top it. Well, it didn't, but it came damn close. I ordered a Chocolate Twist donut and a maple-frosted Old-Fashioned. I was going to take them to go but decided to have a beverage and enjoy my spare time. The Chocolate-Twist was moist, with flakey chocolate frosting. I would have preferred more frosting, but it still hit the spot. Old-fashioned needs to follow three rules: hard outside, moist inside, proper frosting:donut ratio. I think it definitely succeeded, minus again - more frosting is never a bad thing. I had cash, so I'm not sure if the cash-only thing is still a thing, but hopefully not. That's annoying. I went in to get a snack, I ended up getting a blueberry muffin instead of a donut and maybe I should have just gotten a donut but got a muffin. First of all they charged me $5.10 for a muffin and a small box of milk which I thought was way too steep but the worst part is the muffin was really dry and hard and on the bottom it was almost burned so I told the lady the muffin seems old and all she could say was that's how blueberry muffins are supposed to be...
