Today was a first for our family at the Donut House, what a find!!! Drive thru, parking, bicycle parking, use whatever mode of transportation you can find and get there! We were greeted by very friendly staff in a lobby that was super clean. With so many different types of toppings and sizes we found it difficult to make a selection, which is a great problem to have. There is plenty of seating in 3 different rooms. In the bigger dining room, there's picture of donuts on the wall and a corner table full of games for all ages to play. Two of the donuts in our selection this morning rally stood out. One, was a donut with red glaze, red sprinkles, green glaze in the shape is a leaf, and a Carmel tootsie roll sticking out of the middle. It was made to look like an Apple! The second was a maple bar that was glazed with maple and topped with... BACON!!!!! Great work Donut House on the donut display, cleanliness, making us feel like family, and the fabulous donuts! read more

We finally found a good donut shop within ten miles of our house! Not many donut shops in the area and the one near our house is not very good. Don't know how long The Donut House has been in Hayden (looks like a while) but, for some reason, I've never seen it. Has a drive thru and extended hours which is what I expect from a donut shop from my general life/donut experience (my donut IQ, regrettably, is fairly high) We were there in the late afternoon on Memorial Day and the remaining donuts were limited but we got a chocolate bar and a couple of cake with chocolate icing and sprinkles. Donuts were great, girl at counter very nice, restroom clean and prices reasonable. What else could I hope for? Nothing ! read more

Visited from out of town and was bummed there is only one donut shop in the entire town. But luckily the donuts were delicious! We took a dozen down to the nurses at Kootenai and they seemed to enjoy them as well. Was bummed I missed the pumpkin donut by a few days! Not going to knock this type of business for being out of a certain type of doughnut when I visit. Especially, at 5pm in the afternoon - really, what do you expect to be left after 10am? They don't always know for sure what will be popular on that day and that happens with this type of business. If you like a certain type, call the day before and order them! That being said, the doughnuts here are incomparable to anyplace else. And, I've had doughnuts from all over the place - Voodoo Donuts in Portland, Spudnuts in Richland (donuts okay - great hamburgers!), Top Pot in Seattle, Donut Dugout in Post Falls (fruit burritos!), and of course most of the places in Spokane: Krispy Kreme (pumpkin cake in the Fall!), Casual Friday Donuts (not worth the price), Tim's, Donut Parade (another great Spokane institution gone now), Rosauer's in the valley, etc. You get my point, First the custard filling here is excellent! This is not overwhipped cream that coats your tongue in fat or sugary frosting being passed off as "custard". Yes, they only had one cream filled one left; the young woman working the window offered to fill a maple or chocolate bar - YES! SCORE! Also, with our sugar obsessed culture, do you know how hard it is to find a plain cake doughnut that's not glazed? SCORE again! And it was moist & light - not greasy. And, why is it so hard to find an apple fritter that actually has apples in it? SCORE again! Every bite had diced apple in it. Blueberry fritter had good strong blueberry flavor too. THANK goodness bc they switched to decaf without telling me! :o Donut house had been out plain white cake w/ sprinkles the past few times my family has been there. I've been twice since my visit here & out the first time BUT she offered to dip some today for me on the spot. STOKED! And OH Man, yes please! So worth waiting! Deliciously light & a touch crisp then soft, fluffy and perfectly sweet inside! I also tried the chocolate cake, it was soft and not overpowering, but idk something so classic & perfect about plain cake. Cuz got the peanut butter triangle. A glazed doughnut w peanut butter in the middle. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! Really so good!!!!!! Mom tried the blueberry roller. Holy heck. I can NOT believe how delicious this skinny thing was. Thin and light, it was perfectly sweet! Our friend tried the buttermilk bar. Superb. Just simple, slight tang, rich, dense but light, soft sweet glaze. Yum! Damn. I wish I was there now!! Stopped in this morning for a few donuts on our way to Schweitzer, so glad I did! They have a great selection of classic donuts and some awesome trendy-type options. The old fashioned was one of the best I've had in a long time and the blueberry fritter, while not as big as other places, was incredible. The decor was very clean and there is plenty of space if you want to hang out and enjoy your donuts. The lady behind the counter was very nice and helpful with our indecisiveness. Nope! Too doughy!!! You want a good donut? In Houston, Tx go to. Shipley's where they are always hot and good the next day. In Austin make the drive to Round Rock for the famous Round Rock donuts...damn straight!!! In Portland, Or. COCO's where they're always fresh but never hot...the only downfall. Can it be that this is the best Donut House in Northern Idaho? I have to say they have convinced me! Not only am I super proud of the picture I took of these donuts but they were absolutely delicious. The staff was friendly and gave recommendations of their best - although I have to say by their reaction I don't think they get that question a lot! There was a line when I walked in, although they do have a drive through so if you know what you want I suggest that. I felt like going here was going really local, and I really liked it. If I hadn't already had a coffee I would have tried one but that will have to wait for next time I am in town. Love the workers and the food here, thanks Donut House! read more

When we eat donuts we eat them here. You just can't get a better fresher donut in town! Every donut is made fresh that morning. The apple fritters are amazing with bits of crunchy frosting and real apple chunks. They are open 24 hours a day 7 days a week. After some thought and too many unsatisfying donuts elsewhere, I made a return to Donut House. My first visit was a fizzle, they barely had anything, so I turned around and left. They had nothing with chocolate icing and that is what I wanted. Bummer. We went back a second time later in the evening, after 9 pm, and they actually had an amazing selection for that time of day! Say what? I got a donut I wanted and was satisfied. The guy behind the counter was nice, no dirty looks (very nice!) and there was one other male employee in the back. So, when I visit in the future, I need to try and go when they have a decent supply (do they have a website that says when they'll actually have a decent stock?) and when the friendly male employee is there. :) read more

My husband and I decided to grab a dozen donuts at 11:30pm so I wouldn't have to make the trip in the morning with the kids. Well the gentleman who was working the drive thru awkwardly told us how he" really doesn't want to sell a dozen donuts because he is trying to finish frying and go home". I understand we went 30 minutes before close, but couldn't you be professional and say you were out or something. I dont understand how that is customer service? I was dumbfounded. I can't believe i'm in my mid-20s and have been converted into a donut lover! This place is out of this world delicious. I am not kidding, these are the best donuts! I've lived close to 'famous' donut places, and they never tickled my pickle, but after my first apple fritter @ DH, I cannot stop dreaming of the next visit. Got the raspberry filled glazed donut, and wow! Im so use to filled donuts being sweet inside and out which turns me away because its just too sweet. But the donut i had was sweet outside anf mild inside. Amd filled me up. Im pretty darn satisfied. And my mom got a chocolate bar, the bread part was mild and the top was sweet. 5 stars definently.
