Upon leaving that other place I again smelled the baked goods so I decided to stop by. It was a bit of a line walking in and continued to grow while being there but I could see a huge variety of pastries behind the glass. I was impressed by the variety they had and decided to try a few different ones I wouldn't normally try. I picked up a cinnamon crunch donut and few different custard filled ones. For someone who isn't normally a fan of donuts let alone any filled ones, they were by far some of best donuts I have ever had. I went later in the day and was very impressed by the quality. I look forward to getting a box to go next visit.

Service is straight forward since they are open 24/hrs at the nob hill location. The donut holes looked great, but they lacked that classic fluffy texture, missing the mark on what makes a donut hole truly satisfying. The apple fritter was massive for the price, but the apple flavor was a bit too subtle. The crème brûlée donut was decent, but nothing extraordinary. Overall, it's a nice space, but the search for a top-tier donut hole under $5 continues!

There'd be more of a cult following (like Salt & Straw) if they were in a more optimal location... They also usually only have 1-2 employees at a time, so from order to pick up, there's a bit of a wait. The plaza they're located in is very small, but there's a park nearby if you want somewhere scenic to eat your ice cream.

She took my name and phone number and said she would call me if they weren't able to get the bacon. Right after getting off the phone, I called back because I realized we hadn't discussed a pickup time. I asked if I could pick it up at 8am, and I was told it would actually be ready by 7am. I arrived this morning to pick up my order, only to find out that no one knew anything about it and the donut hadn't been made. Thankfully, they were able to put together a giant maple sprinkle donut for me at the last minute, which I really appreciated because it was important to me to continue our birthday tradition. What upset me the most was that after speaking with multiple people, no one apologized or acknowledged the mistake. I understand that things happen, but a simple apology and better communication would have made a big difference. I still like Bob's Donuts and will continue getting their giant donuts, but I hope they can improve their customer service when something goes wrong.

Not only are they rude but they are lying, thieves. Yesterday in the early morning I had just gotten out of work. I bought a cinnamon roll and 3 hard boiler eggs. It came out to $4.20. I had 4 dollars in my pocket. I did not have any change. So I pulled out my wallet and took out a $1.00 told the rude employee to keep the change and I was on my way. After going home ACROSS THE STREET and nearly throwing up from the 2/3 eggs not even cooked. I went to bed. 4 hours i slept and I got up to head to the hardware store. I then realized my wallet was missing. I then went to Donuts and Things and asked the woman if my wallet was there. She got defensive as I was accusing her of stealing it. I explained that it was the last place I had my wallet and at least $400+ in cash. And no way would I have lost it going across the street. She didn't even check with other employees nor the "lost and found". And she told me to come back later and ask the gentleman whom was working this particular morning. 7pm came and the employee was already defensive from me simply asking if he remembered me, and if he had seen my wallet telling him about the large amount (while saying this he has a smirk on his face. )He said that I had it on the counter and saw me leave. When I asked him if in fact he saw my wallet. His whole demeanor changes and said lots of customers came and went since I was there. So then I asked him if he could check the video from that morning. I'm sorry but if someone came into my business and was in my situation I'd check the video right there and then. He told me to come back i told him the time of 5am-6am I was there and that I would be back in a couple hours. He said NO come back in morning because he would be asleep. I made the attempt to leave my number, so once he saw the video to contact me. Im just right across the street. I have yet to hear from Donuts and Thieves. Only one word can sum this up. GUILTY! It's sad when people cannot be honest when in fact they are guilty. There goes taking my dog to the vet. If they only knew how hard I worked. I highly recommend Donuts & Things. The crullers are amazing here very moist and light, but make sure to get the glazed ones or it may not be so moist. The apple fritters are cooked a little longer than most places, which makes them delicious. The maple bars are perfect though.The chocolate frosting is thinner than it should be on most of the donuts, an easy fix for them, so hopefully they rectify this soon. I have never eaten any of the "Things" here but who would come here for anything but donuts? The donuts also look the way they are supposed to, unlike bobs donuts down the street, where they look like someone put them in their pocket before placing them up for display. The coffee is ok, but I think they have defective cups. I think approximately 100% of the time that I have ordered coffee, the lid doesn't seat right with the cup so It always leaks when you try to drink it. I have resorted to holding a napkin around the edge of the lid every time I drink it now. read more

Donuts & Things is like the Bed Bath & Beyond version of all things pastry, breakfast, and snack related. Kind of a muddle, but nonetheless, a buffet of whatever's laying around and ready to serve. I, for one, can appreciate such variety. At this unique donut shop, they offer fresh glazed donuts, some with sprinkles, some with coconut shavings. They even have on the go breakfast items such as croissant sandwiches, boiled eggs, bananas, Madeline's, and also Vietnamese banh mi. I usually grab a box of mixed donuts here as a last ditch effort when pleasing the AM crowd at work because it's fast, it's simple, and there's never a serious wait. Waaay better than Bob's donuts which is down the block (and has a weird vibe with sometimes no one manning the register- I guess they hide in the back-- once I waited for 5 minutes with no one showing up so I left). I wonder why this has so few reviews. I guess from the outside, it looks like it's not going to be good, but they have the BIGGEST apple fritters (and tastiest) and the other donuts are always fresh and delicious. I'm glad Polk street has horrible parking because I would come here too much for a fresh donut. I haven't had any of the "things" because I always end up getting an apple fritter, a maple bar, and an old fashioned and I can't justify getting more junk food that that for one day. Biggest, best apple fritters. I chose this place over Bob's down the street. When the new fresh donuts come out, the older ones are two for one, but who can resist the warm chocolate glazed? Come here for the donuts. They're pretty cheap ($1.25 for a regular sized donut). Do NOT come here for the banh mi. I got the chicken banh mi and the meat looked like it was dyed bright pink. Why on earth would any meat be dyed any color? Just lost my appetite looking at it. read more
