We ate at Doolittles on Mothers Day. I cannot even say enough about how awesome the food was. I ate the East salad. It was probably the best salad I've ever had. My husband ate the Crabcake Benedict. I don't even like Crabcakes but tasted it and was WOW'd by it! We had banana rum bread pudding for dessert. It was the most amazing thing I've ever tasted. The first time we went to Doolittles was a few years ago and we thought it was ok. This was our second time and was so impressed, it will probably be our new go-to restaurant everytime we go out. My daughter is very picky and was also impressed. The staff was very nice and the owner stopped by our table to check on us. I highly recommend trying it. read more

I have been in Doolittles 3xs in the last week...everthing I have gotten was phenomenal...I have tried something different everytime and never had an issue with anything...The service was great and the owner/managers were verry nice. They always make a point,to come over and check how we were dooing and how our food was.. I love all the food on the menu... But the brunch on Saturday was amazing...today I had the cheeseburger soup...now it may not sound that appetizing but it was awsome....I would recommend this place to everyone....... read more

My wife and I had our first trip to Doolittle's for brunch today. Everything was fresh, service was good, and prices were reasonable. We started with the She Crab soup. While not the best I've ever had, to be fair my favorite is from a spot in Charleston and will be hard to ever beat, Doolittle's She Crab was certainly very good. We both had crab cakes. I had the Crab Cake Benedict and my wife the Crab Cake Melt. Both were very good and the crab cakes were EXCELLENT. One of the best crab cakes I've had in some time. We finished with the Apple Tart. Very nice and flavorful, not overbearingly sweet, and the ice cream it was served with was very good. We'll defiantly be back. read more

Was recommended to us by a friend. Disregard some of the earlier reviews. We found the food(crab cakes, she crab soup and fish tacos) all to be great and reasonably priced. The wait staff was friendly and efficient (Jade was great) and the owner (John) was pleasant as he stopped by to chat and ask about our experience. A great job by all. Took the family here for dinner a couple months ago. Ordered the mussels as an app. My husband and I both ended up with "Gastroenteritis- transmission may occur due to consumption of improperly prepared foods or contaminated water or via close contact with individuals who are infectious." We were both sick for week! The handling of the food by the staff is very concerning. Since this happened we have now learned that this has happened to other individuals that have dined here. I eat here often with a group (not my choice of location) and the food is consistently mediocre. Roast beef is way too rare, and none of the meats are well seasoned. A turkey salad on cranberry bread sounded great but was very dull on the plate. The turkey had no seasoning at all. The Greek wrap dripped so much oil I could have fried chicken in my plate after eating it if I'd had heat. The veggie and pasta salads are simply inedible. I'd love to see a simple steamed veggie once in a while with a creative drizzle. On the plus side, they offer a lovely fruit salad side, the tea is good, the balsamic dressing is superb, and the service is absolutely wonderful week after week. They had one entree that was a perfect balance -sliced tomatoes with spinach, feta and balsamic reduction - but we only saw it twice. Overall, not my first, or even second choice. read more

We are really lucky to have this great place in downtown Anderson. The fish taco appetizer is super yummy and just the right start to a meal. They are Gluten Free too! I love all the options at Doolittles for maintaining a Gluten Free diet while enjoying delicious food. I had a bowl of the Tomato Basil soup. It was creamy, rich and delicious, plus Gluten Free. For dinner, I had the Salmon and my hubby had the trout. My salmon was excellent, the garlic mashed potatoes and green beans were the perfect culinary compliment. My hubby did not share his nice sized pecan crusted trout with me but he ate it really fast and didn't leave a trace, so that is a sign it was delicious! They use a lot of local ingredients, which I appreciate and love. The salad tasted very fresh. If you haven't been, or haven't been lately, make sure to plan a visit to Doolittles ..... great food, super nice wait staff and fun, inviting environment. Excellent!! read more

In town to drop off our daughter at Anderson. Their crab cake melt is to die for! I ordered the broccoli slaw and it was fresh, very tasty and perfectly seasoned. Our waitress was attentive and very knowledgeable of the menu. We ordered the cookie sundae, but next time will try a different dessert. It was just okay. We will definitely be back. read more

My husband and I had been here once previously and both the food and service were decent, but our second visit a few months ago for lunch was pretty awful. Our waitress didn't make eye contact, never smiled, and clearly had no interest in being there. I ordered the killer grilled cheese which is made with pepperoni provolone bread. I was pretty excited about the pepperoni provolone bread. We waited what seemed like forever for our food to be delivered. When it finally came out, our waitress dropped it as fast as she could and left. My husband's food was fine, but I realized my sandwich wasn't right. It was made with plain white bread. I had to flag down our waitress and when I told her what happened, her response was, "yeah, I think we're out of the pepperoni bread." Um, ok, and you didn't think you should have told me that? I get it if she didn't know when I ordered, that's ok, but she could have come back out and told me when she found out so that I could have had an opportunity to order something else. But instead, she just went with it and hoped I wouldn't notice. The pepperoni provolone bread was the reason I ordered what I did. She wasn't apologetic AT ALL. Even at this point, if she had apologized and offered to get me something else, I would have been totally fine. But she didn't. She looked at me like I was crazy for even mentioning the mistake and like what do I want her to do about it. I told her I didn't want to pay for the killer grilled cheese when I received a regular grilled cheese. She responded to this by walking away and coming back to tell me she talked to her manager and they said the price difference was for the extra cheese on the killer grilled cheese, not the bread. But that they would adjust the price anyway. Gee, thanks? Still no apology. We have not been back since and have no plans to ever go back. read more

The one star I am giving Doolittle's is for their lunchtime sandwiches, which are ok. None of them are worth 11.95 (extra, if you want a decent side!), but still. Doolittle's is a passable, if overpriced, deli. Unfortunately, it's a sandwich shop with delusions of grandeur as a "fine dining seafood restaurant" at night. Seriously. And the high-priced entrees are as lifeless and disappointing as one would imagine a sandwich shop's take on trout might be. Doolittle's manages to have over-salted, greasy entrees that are somehow also bland. The dessert is particularly horrific-- 9 dollars will get you the worst creme brulee of your life or a bone-dry bread pudding. For the same price on the same street, you could have an actual fine dining experience at Sullivan's or Summa Joe's. read more

Went here this morning for brunch with my parents and fiance. Where to begin... When we came in, we were seated quickly. That was the only good thing. It took forever to get drinks. Unlike most businesses in downtown Anderson, their bar isn't open on Sunday. Then we ordered various selections off their Sunday Brunch menu. We ordered an appetizer that came out one minute before our main course. This was the only food that actually tasted good. Every dish came with the most bland and undercooked grits. They were terrible. The service was subpar. The waitress was either high, suffering from a hangover, or just slow. I will never go here again. read more

The crab cake sandwich was good, once I removed the hamburger bun, which was absurd most people eat seafood for its healthy choice and a hamburger bun is the opposite of healthy choice. If you want to try dinner here, make sure to get here before 6. I've been wanting to this place for a while and was very disappointed. Would have been better off going to J. Peters across the street. I went with my wife and stepson. They were out of my wife's first 2 choices so she ended up with a bland seafood pasta. The worst part was that they ran out of grated cheese. I understand running out of entrees, but it's really amateur hour to run out of condiments. My stepson had fish and chips which were inedible. It was comical how much breading was on the fish. It looked like chicken fingers from a rundown chinese restaurant. I had crab cakes which were fine but I've had better within a mile of this place. The waitress did a good job but other than that I wasn't too impressed. They also let some sketchy looking person use the bathroom. My best friend and I came in today and had the Crab Cake Melt for lunch. It came with Dijon dipping sauce, I do not like mustard at all but this dipping sauce was amazing and went perfect with this sandwich. This was the best sandwich Crab cake sandwich I've ever had! I've been here twice (once for lunch and once for dinner), and both times were excellent. I am very surprised to see the negative reviews. For lunch, I tried the crab cake melt with a cup of chili. I love crab cakes, and this one certainly did not disappoint. The chili was alright--I've had better; I've had worse, but now it's no longer listed as a soup of the day anyway. For dinner, I tried the blackened salmon, and I strongly recommend this as well. It was very flavorful and not too spicy. Enjoyed our late lunch at Doolittles from the perfectly cooked and seasoned boiled shrimp appetizer to the delicious warm melt-in-your-mouth chocolate chip cookie for desert!
