We love going here every time we visit Door County. My wife ordered half a loaf of their famous Corsica Loaf to have shipped to the Chicago area for my birthday. FedEx screwed up the order and when we finally got the bread, it was old and stale. My wife called the bakery and they said they'd ship a replacement out right away. This time the package arrived and to my surprise instead of a half loaf they had sent us a full loaf of the bread, which if you've seen it firsthand is HUGE. Now I just gotta figure out how to cram it all in the freezer (what a great problem to have). Thanks for going above and beyond though to make a customer happy and satisfied! read more

Found this place by accident. As a regular to Doorco we have our "regular" favorites. We made it a point one week to ONLY go to places we had never been. Stopped in for an afternoon cup of coffee, had some wonderful bakery, and decided to come back for Sunday "brunch". We had the salmon plate, crepes and the (2x) Quiche. Fabulous food. The wine selection is different, filled with good French wines. The owner is / was(?) a session musician and the bakery is filled with cool memorabilia. Make sure to try the Corsica bread! read more

This is simply an amazing place to go in the door county area! We had the cheese Danish and coffee and hot chocolate, everything was delicious! The atmosphere was great, it feels like a warm and cozy old school bakery, you can sit right up at the bar with the barista. If you haven't been there give this one a try you won't be disappointed! Yes the Corsica loaf IS amazing and the men that work on the bakery side are helpful. However, they are the only helpful staff. The ladies that run the coffee stand are awful. The coffee stand would get 1 star. The coffee is expensive, molten hot, and devoid of flavor. They were so slow the bakery man offered to place our coffee order. The woman with glasses (seems to be the owner) was uppity and all ignored customers other than the obvious local she was chatting with at the counter. We will not return until the coffee bar is under new management. read more

Horrible!!! While the food was good we had to wait over 15 minutes for a waitress, over and hour for any food and then my son's "grilled" cheese comes and it hasn't ever seen a grill with 2 slices of unmelted cheese. At no time did waitresses advise any one of the wait time. Just some of the poorest service I have ever seen. Stay away if you don't want to spend your entire day waiting there. read more

My wife and I stopped here for a quick breakfast and were very pleased with the selection and choices. All kinds of baked goods and coffee drinks. I had a mini pecan roll and the misses had a piece of cherry coffee cake from their display cases. Over $16 for a loaf of bread??!! We were in shock...and thought it better be some damn good bread!! They charge by the pound rather than by the loaf so it's deceptive since you can't estimate how much a loaf of bread weighs. We figured about a pound at their $9+/lb rate. No, nearly 2 pounds!! After disappointing attempts to find sourdough bread in the grocery stores we happened upon this bakery that offered a sourdough loaf. All we got for $16 was a loaf of dense white bread. No sourdough flavor, none of the springy texture and bubbles of "real" sourdough bread! Amazingly, sourdough is SO simple--we make it at home--it's just sourdough starter, water, bread flour and salt! The "difficulty" is simple attention to the starter and allowing time for rising and folding the dough. A bakery--charging DOUBLE of the going rate for everything they offered, mind you--should at least take pride in the quality of their product! SO disappointing!!!! The Door County Bakery is know mainly for it's Corsica bread and that alone is worth the stop. If you want a great lunch, get their Italian beef on Corsica bread. It is one of the best sandwiches I have every had. The bakery has expanded into a gourmet food too with great cheeses, wines and other food items. The bakery part is still great. This is a true European style gourmet bakery. They have some very well made baked goods and a very quaint feel and decor. We ate the full breakfast here and the entrees are very expensive with no kids menu, but the quality of the food was extremely good. I suppose you get what you pay for, but if their prices were more in line with others I would probably have eaten here every day. A lot of people seemed to just order coffee and baked goods for their meal, which probably would be a good way to save some money. read more

Wish the menu prices were listed My wife and I were visiting Door County for the first time, we checked Yelp for coffee shops and bakeries for lunch. We found a listing for the Door County Bakery and thought it would be a good place to stop and grab a bite. We wanted a bowl of soup and a sandwich, however we were surprised at the lunch prices, especially under the soup menu which were around $12 a bowl, and my wife's bouillabaisse at $18 a bowl. We thought this to be somewhat expensive, however the waitress said they were full meals, so we ordered the chili and bouillabaisse and skipped the sandwich, which would have been an additional $12 each. The chili was served in an average dinner sized soup bowl on a dinner plate, with one slice of bread and two butter patties on the side of the bowl. It was served hot, and the presentation was done very well. It was flavorful and the bread tasted fresh baked, but I think it would have been more of a full meal if it was a larger portion of chili, or had an additional slice of bread, or both, as I was still hungry when I finished. The bouillabaisse was served the same way. It was flavorful but slight on seafood, two mussels and one cube of whitefish with some veggies were all it had, not quite a meal. We've had bouillabaisse in French restaurants that were full of seafood and vegetables which were more like a meal and at a similar price. If we were to do it again we would not have not stayed for lunch, but would have just went with the carry out bakery, bakery which is very good. read more

My wife and I have been coming to Door County for 40 years and somehow missed this place until a short while back. Don't know how because we have always stayed on the Quiet Side. Anyway, this place is fantastic: food, drinks, people, ambiance, decor, music. It is also handicapped accessible. The Corsica Bread is the best. The bakery goods are top notch. I usually have 2 pastries (or more.) Sandwiches are great. The coffee beats any shack's blend. The beans seem to have lost acidity and the water is local well - so the coffee is unique. The owners and staff make people feel at home and if there is time there is plenty to chat about (music, coffee, business, acting, etc.) We will be back. read more

One of those 'best kept secret' places you hear about, but rarely encounter by accident. When the three of us were exploring Door together last winter we had heard about this place bit off the beaten path and soon were rumbling into their lot. What a cool space. Like a hip coffeehouse and cafe without the attitude. Wood beams, great smells and good vibes abound. Inventive sandwiches on fresh-baked bread, hearty soups, handmade cocktails and great conversation kept us occupied for longer than the usual lunch hour. Great coffee! I mean really great...I'd recommend the Iced Americano, strong and cold...I hate luke warm/kinda cold iced drinks, it drives me nuts. They also have this Corsica bread which is dripping in this delicious olive oil and has an amazing crunch on the outside but soft on the inside. This is a cute little bakery that had the makings to be one of our favorite spots. We tried a couple sandwiches and soups and we thought everything was just okay and overpriced. For example: we ordered split pea soup for ten dollars. We figured for that price it would be a big serving so we got it split into two bowls and when the bill came there was a five dollar split fee! So for a small mediocre serving of soup we paid fifteen dollars...not worth it, we won't be back. read more

I can't speak to the bakery portion, but we had lunch in the dining room and it was not a great experience. One server wagged her finger at my son who was laughing, admittedly a little loud. But door county is a family place and nobody else was bothered. It was EXTREMELY expensive. A Cubano, kids grilled cheese, kids pb&j, bowl of soup, 2 milks and a coke was $57. There were no prices on the website so we were kind of stuck once we got there but $10 for a kids meal means yelp should list this as $$$$ not 2. We have visited annually for the last 9 summers. We are not made to feel welcome when we stay for lunch and the prices they charge for lunch discourage all but the people with large wallets. We enjoy the bakery items but have been served only after the local residents have been served several times. We would love to see them return to happy and willing customer service. read more

I have made Door County Bakery one of my DC stops since discovering it several years ago but since last weekend, I will no longer step foot in the door. Twice a year, a group of ladies and I get together for a girls camp weekend. Since some of the ladies come from southern WI and northern IL, It is fun to bring them to unique places in DC such as DC bakery. We stopped there last weekend to specifically pick up some good crusty bread to eat the next day at camp with some Italian meats and cheeses one of the gals had brought. There were a large group of us (10 to be exact), so as some of the ladies shopped, some of us waited outside in the beautiful weather until all were finished. Clearly the owner and his wife did not realize one of the ladies from our group was standing by the coffee counter as he made the comment that he should have placed a weight limit on his parking lot as there were some "tons of funs" out there. The wife laughed and said we only came in to use the bathroom. Really???? First of all I am pretty sure together we spent at least $100 there and secondly I can only assume they talk about many of their customers this way once they leave. If only my friend had told us this when she came out, we would have marched back in and demanded our money back- but she didn't want to hurt our feelings. We have been going here for years. In addition to very tasty bakery goods, they have a nice deli, all sorts of gourmet items, as well as wine, beer and spirits. It's a terrific selection and resource. It's not inexpensive, but having this resource is a godsend. We have not tried the restaurant, so I can't comment on that, other than to say that the ambiance is quite nice. read more

The Door County Bakery is an amazing destination. This place is a little of the beaten path of Door County (about 10 minutes outside of Sister Bay towards the middle of the peninsula), but it is amazing and well worth the trip. The Corisca bread (French bread dough cooked in olive oil) is incredible. It is moist and a little crunchy on the bottom with bursts of olive oil when you bite in. We are carefully rationing the Corisca we brought home from our trip. They also have a small deli onsite which was amazing. I had the pulled pork on the Corisca bread (delicious, although probably not the most calorie conscious fare). My husband had a muffalata - I stole a bite and it was equally as tasty. There is also a small store attached with fudge, wine, pasta, and other specialty foods. Two thumbs up! read more

Yummy baked goods!! I ran in for donuts before heading on a wine tasting trolley tour and came out with a cherry danish and a chocolate croissant! The service was great- a nice man with a cowboy hat suggested the cherry danish after I asked him for "the best" pastry and he was correct! Both the danish and croissant were fantastic! Go for the Corsican bread. It's the best! Needs to be eaten the day you buy it for the best results. But, the Corsican croutons for your salad are definitely for taking home. I always buy two bags. But double bag them. I have no idea how that oil always seems to seep out. read more
