We used to love this restaurant for breakfast. Unfortunately on our most recent visit, the prices had been raised at least 30%. Even having lived in New York and Chicago, I have never seen a piece of French toast for $20. We found an old receipt from 2016 showing the salmon mousse for $16 -- in August 2018, the price was $22. You can now also have the pleasure of paying more than $7 for a cappuccino. The food here is good, but not that good. Although this used to be a staple of our Door County visit, since the restaurant itself is very charming, I think sadly we will not be back. (That said, the Corsica bread at the bakery is amazing so we will continue to come for that.)

Worth the drive! We went for breakfast and tasted lots of the bakery treats: cherry cheese danish, cinnamon roll, cherry turnover, cake doughnut, oatmeal raisin cookies, chocolate glazed doughnut. The doughnuts weren't anything special, but the danish and turnover were excellent! Go with the cherries when it Door County!!! And they use a real espresso machine for mochas, cappuccino, and Americana coffee drinks which tasted really well. There's a larger breakfast menu, but since it's a bakery we just wanted to try their expertise. Also it's owned by genuinely nice people that work really hard to deliver exceptional quality. We talked to them for awhile to find out more about their story, and they do everything natural from scratch with real butter!!! You can taste the quality. Take the drive and taste the quality, even if it's just for carry out - is a really great bakery experience.

The food is delicious, the sweets are quite tasty. They have a beautiful outside patio with a sweet family owners. The food is great, but theres a few things with it that could be troublesome. The food takes a little to get to you, and my meal came to me at room temperature. They have one waiter. The food is amazing! But the kids menu is very small also- you get a choice of pb&jam or grilled cheese. The bakery is amazing though!

The classic dining area has not changed in 30 years, nor has the great service by the wait staff adorned in Swedish apparel. There are NO RESERVATIONS, so either go early or plan to wait a long time. We knew the drill, so we put our names in at 8:30am to get a table for 6 at 10:45! Plenty of time to shop in town as well as watch the live goats grazing on the grass roof of the restaurant! Once seated, we enjoyed the Swedish meatballs, Swedish pancakes (with traditional lingonberries or Door County cherries, and a delicious warm cinnamon coffee cake. All of the food was served quickly, was amazing and in just the right amounts. We love the classic look of the restaurant as well as the cool Swedish themed gift shop attached.

We ordered the Swedish Pancakes special, which includes three pancakes, two fried eggs, and choice of protein (ham, Canadian bacon, sausage, or bacon), and we chose bacon. The pancakes had a texture similar to crepes and are delicious on their own, but we added butter, lingonberries, and syrup to make them "eyes roll back in our heads" delicious! The eggs were perfectly cooked to over medium, as we requested, and the bacon was perfectly cooked with a crispy and chewy texture. The side of Swedish rye toast was probably the best rye toast that I've ever had! Maybe it was the butter. The side of Swedish meatballs was excellent, as expected, but the star of our breakfast had to be the Pytt I Panna. We asked more about the preparation after reading the description and felt it sounded interesting enough to order. This dish far exceeded our expectations! The American fries are diced & sauteed potatoes with skin on some pieces, with onions and diced "Swedish roast beef." Not sure what makes it Swedish, and it doesn't matter. What matters is how incredibly delicious this dish is. Again, I'm thinking butter was used to sautee, and I support that! We shared every dish and side, and I'll say this meal is in the discussion for the best breakfast/brunch I've ever had...and I've had some pretty great ones in my lifetime! Also, shout out to our server, Natalia, who was very sweet and helpful, providing great service! If you've never been, make it happen. We waited just under an hour after signing in at 8:30 on a Friday morning, which was fine because we grabbed coffee next door at Happy Coffee and relaxed in Al Johnson's courtyard, while admiring the goats. It was a great way to wait for our table!
