I am writing this review as a deeply concerned and disappointed customer. As a woman, I find it important to share my experience to protect others from similar situations. Recently, after placing an order with Door Outlet, I received incorrect and/or poorly manufactured items. While going through attempts to rectify, I was sent up to Don (the owner?) and in a normal text conversation trying to find out a timeline, there was a delay for a"spider bite". In a check in follow up, he, the business owner sent me inappropriate and unsolicited photos of his body, allegedly to show the spider bite. This behavior is completely unacceptable and horrifying, especially considering that I have never met this person in any capacity. No matter who agrees or disagrees as to the items purchased and the disgruntled nature that I as a customer may have felt, this photo incident is a severe breach of professional conduct and decency. No customer should ever be subjected to such inappropriate behavior. I strongly urge Door Outlet to take immediate action to address this issue and ensure that their communication practices are respectful and professional at all times. I hope this review serves as a warning to others and a wake-up call for them to implement strict guidelines and training on appropriate customer interactions. read more

Super place to get a door. They were timely, efficient and affordable compared to any other place like lowes or home depot. Actually quicker than the big box places. They quoted me about a week to manufacture a customer door but then got it completed in about 4 days. They only have two guys manning the sales/front door so if it gets busy, you could be waiting a little but of time, but from my experience they are worth the wait. Try them out. It saddens me to have to write this review. I love my door and have referred so many people to the Door Outlet who have bought the same 8' double Simpson wood door from them. One of my glass inserts broke and I made the first call months ago. I was told it would be available in two weeks. Of course, with covid, there was a delay. Well, it looks like the delay was not covid, they forgot to order it. the manager Don apologized and said it will be 6 weeks and at no cost or he could order it from a glass company and it would be here in two weeks. Two weeks go by and I check in with him to set up installation. No response, no glass. His text stop and I call the store and they said he will call me back. Never has he called me back. I call again and they said he will call me back. Again, no response. I text asking to please let me know what' going on. No response. I have a front door with no glass and now he is completely silent and I'm having to call another company. DON'T TRUST WHAT THEY PROMISE. DON IS HORRIBLE AT CUSTOMER SERVICE. I'm having a terrible experience so far. I guess the salesperson left or was fired. They haven't followed up with any of his customers. When I call to try snd find out anything, they pass the buck over to someone ekes and says they don't know what's going on. They asked for my invoice, I sent it, now let's see what happens. I was referred to this company by my wonderful interior designer Carolina. It was easy to find. Everyone in the place looked happy in their environment. I hit the jackpot when I found Nicolas Wikoff. Talk about fabulous customer service he scored. He was knowledge, friendly, had a great sense of humor, and asked all the right questions. He told me he loved his job and it showed. Service with a smile is how I can sum it up with my visit. Also their prices seemed reasonable along with delivery times. This is 100% unbiased and honest review based on my personal experience. I was at the point in the process where I needed to buy a new front door and interior doors. after searching around for the type of doors that I wanted at reasonable price. The stores I visited did not stocked the doors I needed. I was told by 90% of the places I went the lead time would be 4-6 weeks minimum which would not work for me. On top of that most sales representatives were very pushy or often rude and the prices extremely high in comparison to the quality of the product. My contract or told me about Door Outlet in Austin during the time I was remodeling my house. He suggested to contact Chris to discuss the best options that would meet my needs. I had no expectation that he would be any different than the previous reps that I had met. But.... Chris, to my surprise, was extremely knowledgeable in regards to doors and the process that is required to accomplish replacing all (22) doors for my home. Along with superb customer service provided by Chris I was able to get exactly what I needed at a cost that was well under my budget. Furthermore, he was able to frame all doors within 10 days. I was astounded by the ability of Door Outlet to make this entire process quick, professional, cost-effective and not to forget, the quality of their products completely surpassed my expectation. Looking at bad reviews posted by others on Yelp, my experience with Door Outlet (specifically with their General Manager Don Byers) seems to be consistently terrible as other reviews on Yelp as well as other review websites. We have been trying to rectify material defect issues with one of the doors received (Masonite fiberglass door, sidelights and frame) in late October. I have spent a week trying to show them and explain the issues I have discovered by: 1. bringing the door back to their warehouse, 2. complied and provided all info on the claim form provided, 3. providing high-rez pictures and videos (with comments/analysis), and demonstrations in order to help them to understand the base of the claims, 4. responding respectfully and communicated even after observing Door Outlet General Manager Don Byer's aggressive and unprofessional behavior (verbally and in-writing) -- as well as stating in their letter that we don't seem to have any idea what happens in American when there's a dispute. Door Outlet employees have completely failed to handle after sale issues professionally. Door Outlet immediately assumed that the customer is making-up stories and presenting false claims, even after providing all facts and materials for them to work with their middle-man (DW Distribution) and Masonite (manufacturer) for proper resolution. Eek! After the wood on our door split in three places and bent into a bow shape during the cold weather, we had to get it replaced. Our replacement door, it turns out, was also sent back for the same structural deficiencies, causing a month more delay. So it's now nearing March... we originally placed our order for the first door in December. Haven't gotten down to one star yet... maybe I'm just holding out hope that everything will get fixed and we'll get the door we originally picked out (NOT a cheaper version built to resemble the one on the showroom floor), and it pains me to write anything negative about a company. I went to Door Outlet looking for French doors and a few windows for a small modern building. I got a great deal on French doors, but it was a hassle to get them. They're quite large, so I paid an extra $50 for delivery. I got a call after the pre-scheduled delivery time saying they were too busy to make it but would have them delivered by 5. My bf waited ALL DAY and they never showed. I ended up showing up at their warehouse and having them follow me home to get my doors delivered. If I had a truck I would have just done it myself. Really lousy service. Additionally, I asked for a quote on some windows. Four requests and no quote later I gave up. I've got my windows on order elsewhere. Long story short: if you can buy and pick up something they have in stock in front of you you'll probably get a good deal. Needed a single pantry door. Received a great price and size was in stock. (Lowes and Home Depot did NOT have 18" width doors in stock. Anywhere.) Even better, Door Outlet hung the door slab for me, and for less money than I could find slab-only at other outlets. They customized the frame because this old, manufactured home had 2x3 walls, so they shaved 7/8 inch off the frame width so I wouldn't have a large overhang into the pantry. Door is well constructed. Would recommend. Minus one star: The first door was backward (LH vs RH) however they fixed it quickly, and rehung the door while I waited. Also, it took about a day longer than their original estimate. So two days to turn my order. (Home Depot website estimated several weeks lead time, for comparison.) Prior to finding Door Outlet, I sent 8-9 requests over Yelp to other contractors, door repair folks, and door/cabinet/remodel shops. Only one other (a door replacement outfit) even gave me a verbal quote. Most said no bid because commercial only / don't do doors / no reason given. Finally one of them recommended Door Outlet. The team at Door Outlet were super helpful in getting me the door I wanted quickly and I really can't recommend them enough. With our home renovation project the timelines have been all over the place and I made the mistake of waiting to long to find a new door - - we didn't have time to wait the many weeks it would take for a box store to deliver a door. Our realtor had recommended Door Outlet so when I was in a pinch I drove over to see if they could help me out. Within one week of my visit to their storefront our door was framed and ready to go for under $400. They offer delivery for a fee but my contractor was able to pick it up for us which they accommodated with no trouble. When the time comes to replace our front door we'll be back! read more

I bought two solid core doors and it was a terrible experience. - Sales staff (nephews/nieces) don't know industry standard terms like "Rough Opening" or RO. Constantly had to re-explain. - Seems only two guys know anything, so everyone is constantly looking for them. - Both doors when available for pickup had multiple issues: wrong size doors, paint grade instead of stain grade jambs, one jamb wrong width. Some issues came from wrong sheet (see difference between RO and door size!), some from just not reading their build sheet right. - Sales staff were combative and sought to blame me at every chance. When Doug eventually located, I was offered "complementary delivery" for after fixes. - "Fixed doors" arrived with doug fir jambs, when either pine or maple were specified. At least they were the right width? - Supposed "stain grade" jambs were stapled, like 15 rough staples. Ridiculous. - Door cuts had terrible tear out, up to 1/2 inch. Some filler was used, so even they knew they screwed up. - No edge banding on re-size cuts. So edges of door are completely different wood than face. - Latch bore was not square to the door edge, downward about 10° meaning a plumb/square install had latching problems. Are they not using a jig, or are they really that careless? - Delivery arrived on only day I said I wouldn't be there. Just not listening? Awful from start to finish. Costumer service here is great, *until* you have ordered and pay for your door. From there on out, they basically cut off all communication with you, and when weeks go by of trying to get someone to talk to you about where your door is, they behave as though you are a total fool for wanting to know where the door is that you purchased months prior. Yes, we do have a door we are happy with, but the whole drawn out process really tarnished the process. If you do decide to use this place, just prepare yourself for a lot of frustration, NO communication, getting specifications of your order incorrect and having it take months longer than the 6-8 weeks that you are quoted. I'm a Commercial General Contractor, and Residential Home Builder in Austin. I built my business on honesty, good workmanship, completing projects on time , returning phone call ,emails and especially keeping my customer informed at all times. The Door Outlet has none of these traits and should not be trusted. The Owner of this company should be ashamed as to how its employees handle business and represent the Company. If I owned this business I would fire any Employees that does not properly perform their job and it should start with Store Manager whom should be setting good examples. My business is based on word of mount and I have never in 35 years been given a bad post until dealing with the Door Outlet. Due to the Door Outlets neglect to fulfil my order and due to all the initial failures it has created with my orders, the Door Outlet has caused me to be in bad standards with my client. With all said , please be WARNED under the current staff , Store Manager and the experienced store practice, once you place your order and your money is taken, YOUR ON YOUR OWN! BE PREPARED: You will receive no calls when your order has arrived or you may receive a call a week or so later after it has arrived. BE PREPARED: If you have to leave a message because no one will answer the phone, you will not receive a returned call that day or in a timely manner. You will find yourself having to constantly call back until you can reach your sales person. BE PREPARED: If you call in and your sales person is tied up and can not take your call, you will not receive a returned call that whole day even if you called early that morning. It's apparent that whom ever takes the phone call message does not forward the message . BE PREPARED: Talking to the Store Manager does nothing ! All you will receive is excuses and placement of blame on someone else. BE PREPARED: Inspect your order very closely to make sure what you ordered is what you are receiving. I ordered smooth surface solid core pine doors and the DO tried to issue a cheaper Masonite door . BE PREPARED: You will be lied to constantly by most of the employees and even the Store Manager. You will be told by an employee that they will call you right back once they check on your order and may not receive a returned call. You will be told that your order has been placed when it was not placed. You will be told that the order was received in the store damaged and had to be returned to the manufacture when the order was not turned in to the manufacture in time to process. I can go on and on. BE PREPARED: When the Door Outlet has fowled up your order, You will not received returned calls and will find yourself so desperate to get an answer that you will drive to the store to just talk to someone to get answers. My hope is that the Owner of this store will read this post and all the other negative posts received over time and will make new changes. If I could give them 0 stars I would at this point. We bought 4 doors from this company and were very satisfied with the doors, but one door was too small for the opening. The door had not been taken out of the box yet and was not custom made, and we took it back to exchange it for a larger door that we needed. They didn't inform us that there were no returns on this item before we bought it, so now we're stuck with the wrong sized door. They refused to refund, give us any store credit, etc to order the right size door. Now we have to find a new door store to order the right sized door because they were completely noncooperative. I purchased a front door and frame for a personal home remodel in July. Door was scheduled for pick up end of August. After both calling in and emailing the necessary measurements, and confirming availability, my contractor arrived to pick up the door frame. It wasn't ready. Lateness happens, I rescheduled the contractor pick-up. Once the door was installed and finished (stained), it became apparent that the door had damages that were puttied, and a poorly installed peephole that was puttied as well. I understand there are flaws in manufacturing and even quality control, the reason I'm giving Door Outlet 1 star is that the client service has been the worst of any building supply or door store I've used. To paint you a picture, I've experienced better service at Home Depot, on their busiest day. I have called 3 times: 2 sales associates told me they'd call back and never did, left 1 message, which was unreturned and sent 3 emails with photos of the damaged door, NO response. I have a door that cost about $1,500 total with finishing and looks like a $300 door. It would be nice to have the extra door supplier as an option for future remodels, but there are plenty of other suppliers in town. Based on the unresponsiveness and lack of remedy, which I'm reminded of every time I walk up to my front door, I don't recommend purchasing from Door Outlet. It was a nightmare to work with Door Outlet. We first went in early April and had the misfortune of working with Danny, who let us know our doors would arrive in 3-5 days (hahahah). After a few weeks he said they'd arrive the following Friday, but then never returned our calls/emails. So come May we start calling the store and I spoke to several people who assured me they'd "look into it" and I also left several voicemails, no answer. Eventually we had to go down there and stand in the lobby, refusing to leave until they told us what was going on. Someone found our paperwork, including the fully paid for receipt, and turns out the doors were never ordered in the first place. So we finally get them ordered and receive them about 2 months after our first visit, although we were never called and told that they're ready of course - we have to call and routinely follow up. There's also a prominent chip in our front door that we have to fix. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere that's capable of running a business. read more
