    Vegetable Spring Rolls, Vegetable Dumplings

Dope was super good! Very cool art on the walls and fun soundtrack. Both servers who helped us were very nice. The dumplings were the star of the show, and I want to try the buns next time. Ramen was good but I would make an entire meal out of the dumplings. Tofu was cooked really well.

Pork Belly Tonkotsu Ramen--massive portion of pork belly. Also very good.

This Dope location seems to fly under the radar on its side of town, and I'm not really sure why: Its menu has good pan-Asian variety and is somewhat unique to the area, the kitchen executes most all of it quite competently, and it's reasonably priced. Given that I'm old, maybe I'm a sucker for the old-school hip-hop motifs and music Dope leans on, and maybe the Hyde Parkers who live in the neighboring blocks find that very aspect of the restaurant a turn-off. Anyway, Dope's dining area is often surprisingly empty, even if it appears to do okay carry-out and delivery service. Your loss, Hyde Park folks, because Dope is a credit to the neighborhood. Ramens here are robust and usually loaded with meat (check out the pork-belly one especially); the banh mi sandwiches may not be the best and most authentic you've had, but they still among the better sandwiches over on this side town and they are a dining steal around here; and when the kitchen is on, the dumplings can be some of the best in town. As with just about any pan-Asian place, some of the menu items might seem off a hair or two from what you've had in dedicated Japanese, Vietnamese, Chinese restaurants, but the kitchen knows how to both ramp up and balance flavors. Sometimes the food isn't the most consistent (we once had dumplings come out cold), and sometimes the service isn't the most attentive. Anyway, Dope is more or less slammin', phat, def, and all the other good ones.

Dope has an awesome atmosphere, great vibes, and some awesome decor. The staff was extra friendly, hospitable, and were going out of their way for the folks that were waiting and asking questions. Sadly, the food doesn't live up to the atmosphere or the staff. We found everything to be lackluster, at best. I think the best flavor may have been the Korean Beef BBQ, but that's 'best' (in quotes) because it's still not great. I would 100% skip the dumplings and the boba teas, the boba was very chewy and the tea was all sugar (even with a reduced sugar order). The dumplings were meh and the sauce was directly from a jar.

Hubby and I came here to get take out and were pleasantly surprised! The lemongrass chicken bao bun and the char sui bao bun were delicious! A good amount of protein and nice and saucy. Amazing flavor! The dope wings were packed with flavor, not super spicy and a good quantity for the price. We did try the chicken karaage rice bowl as well which was good. Great amount of chicken, toppings and sauce to rice ratio but not my most favorite item. Take out was great - items tasted fresh and were packed well. I'm excited to come back and try other items on the menu!

Bao buns: Char siu pork on left. Crispy tofu on right. So very good!

If you are craving a terrific bao bun, you have gotta give this place a shot! I tried the pork and shrimp dumplings in chili oil, the char siu bao bun, the crispy tofu bao and the crispy tofu Bahn mi. All were so flavorful and the bao was just right the tofu texture was on point! Great music and ambiance and they do have a dedicated parking lot, which makes things so much easier. I also had to treat myself to a thai tea with Boba which was so refreshing on a summer day. The service was very friendly and really explained the options, and the food came out very quickly. If you are in the Hyde Park area, or even if you aren't, you gotta make the time to check this place out!

ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!! Was in town and rolled the dice on this spot. The worst thing about this place is the gravel parking lot. When you walk in you're greeted to a wonderful mix of 'dope' 90's rap (all edited and family friendly). Hard not to get excited for what comes next. We had ramen bowls and some Bao Buns. I also had the Thai iced tea. Lemme start with the tea. Wonderful. Thinking about getting one for the road. It's almost like a drinkable cream-cicle. YES, like the ones from childhood. The boa buns were a great surprise. We had the Tofu Bao and Char Siu Bao. Very good, we did them as apps, but you could make a meal out of them. We did the Lemongrass Chicken ramen and the pork belly ramen. I inhaled the pork belly but to be honest want to try the char skywatcher having the boa bun. I strongly recommend this place for a snack, lunch, or dinner. I'm a big fan from my first encounter.

Roach in my ramen! I hate that I have to write this review. I've ordered from here for years. I've never had a problem up until tonight. I was almost done with my ramen when I noticed a ROACH floating in my ramen broth. I attempted to call the restaurant with no answer. DoorDash gave me my money back. But obviously it's still upsetting and gross.

Went there for Asian Cuisine Week! All items are $10 each. We ordered a Korean BBQ wings with rice, bao flight, Tonkotsu Ramen. The portion is huge. The food came out fast too! Korean BBQ Wings with Rice (4/5) - they come with 6 wings with rice. Love the seasoning! It is garnished with green onions and sesame seeds! Bao flight (4/5) - we ordered lemongrass chicken, Cha Siu pork and beef. - The lemongrass chicken is very special and taste amazing, can slightly taste the lemongrass and it fit well with the bao. - Cha siu pork is alright. The Cha siu is not the traditional Cha siu. It's more like a pull pork. - beef is decent. Nothing special. The seasoning taste good. Tonkotsu Ramen (2.5/5) - Ingredients: Pork marrow broth, pork belly, enoki mushroom, soft-boiled egg, bok choy and green onion - the ramen is little disappointed. Not sure if it's because of Asian Cuisine Week and they pre-prep the food. Feel like the ramen noodle is sit in the soup for a while and it stick together and super soft... would give another try next time when it's normal time.

We came here during Asian cuisine week because it seems as though this establishment had the most variety of selections to pick from. The name of this place is pretty unique I'd have to say lol. Anywho, we arrived - order up front and the cashier was super friendly and gave us some recommendations. I already knew what I was going to order because I looked at the menu beforehand per unusual lol... I ordered three baos (beef, char sui, and Korean bbq) and the salmon poke bowl. My husband ordered The pork belly rice bowl. The three baos were very good and all had distinct different flavors. I really enjoyed these and would definitely order them again. I really enjoyed my poke bowl, they definitely put a lot of sauce on the bowl and I'm a sauce type of gal lol. The only con that I can think of is that I had ordered it spicy and it was not spicy at all. I don't know if it's just my spice tolerance lol. My husband enjoyed his pork belly but his only complaint was that it was too much sauce for him. Knowing that they like to give a lot of sauce he'll probably order sauce on the side going forward. Other than that it was a really good experience and the portions were fairly large. We'll definitely come back here and try the other items!

The chilly weather just called for some Ramen, so my friend and I headed right here. Fortunately, this place does have some parking and we didn't have to wander looking for one. Once inside, we placed our orders. We got the Veggie Ramen, tofu bao and the Vietnamese cold coffee (I wish they served a hot version of this). The coffee was good. I've had better ones, but this one was pretty good too. The Ramen and the Bao, these were just alright. The broth was kimchi based, and I loved the vegetable options. However, it wasn't amazing. The Bao was just about average and needed some serious flavor. It just tasted okay. Also would love to see a few more vegetarian options. The service was really good. The interiors are cozy and perfect for a weekend comfort food session.

This place was far above what I was expecting. I was seated immediately and there were a few tables in there, nothing too crazy though. The server gave me a menu and water right away and let me figure out what I wanted. I ordered the Shoyu Ramen and added an extra egg to it, I love the soft boiled eggs in any ramen, and a spice level of 1. After ordering my food came within ten minutes. It was astonishingly fast. It came out hot and looked so good. The eggs were perfectly soft boiled, the pork was tender, the broth was flavorful and the perfect level of spice. The noodles were super good and all together it was a great bowl. The portion sizes were huge so I took the rest home for leftovers. My server checked on me often and was very attentive. She offered dessert but I was way too full. The service was super fast, I was probably in there for just over 40 minutes in total. I didn't feel rushed a t all, and overall it was a great place I will definitely be going to again.

All seats at the bar were open, but we hoped to sit at a regular (not high-top) table. As it turned out there were a few options in the back. That said, it wasn't long before the place was packed. Our server Tyra was fantastic. Down to earth and helpful with recommendations. She made us feel welcome and comfortable. We started with Jumbo Ebi Shumai. Tyra asked if we wanted a fourth (the dish comes with three) so we wouldn't have to rock-paper-scissors for the third dumpling. I thought they were delicious. I loved the spicy mustard that came with them. I admit they had a slight fishy flavor. I mean it was shrimp and I enjoyed it. Mark is less of a fish fan in general. The dumplings didn't really hit the mark for him. If you like seafood and you like shrimp you should enjoy the Shumai. I opted for Tonkatsu Ramen - Ramen and thick creamy pork broth with roast pork, soft boiled egg, bamboo, wood ear mushroom, ginger and green onion. I added black garlic oil and did not go spicy at all. I thought it was very good and I ate literally every drop. Mark had Spicy Miso Ramen - Ramen and spicy creamy soybean paste pork broth with roast pork, soft boiled egg, bamboo, wood ear mushroom, and green onion. He said it was spicy, which was perfect for him. He also enjoyed his meal and finished every drop. We still had time to kill before the show so we opted for dessert. There were two options - Green Tea or Red Bean Ice Creams. Tyra recommended Red Bean and I'm glad she did. It was sweet with just the slightest crunch from the beans. It was a good size serving, hand dipped by Tyra. The proximity of Zundo to Memorial Hall or Music Hall makes it the perfect pre-show stop for dinner. We will definitely be back.
