Great bakery filled with fresh delicacies. I had the cannoli rainbow cake . 2 slices in one sitting to be exact . It was so yummy . Also had at least 10 cookies from a cookie tray . Honestly, the whole experience was horrible. The cake was overpriced and it was the worst cake I have ever tasted. I ordered a cute vintage heart shaped cake and when receiving it, was upset it did not come fully decorated as expected. I had to go to Michaels and buy ribbon to make bows to add onto my cake. They explained afterwards that I would have had to supply the ribbon which I would have gladly done if that information was disclosed during the initial consultation. They quoted me $185 and I asked if there was any way to make it more affordable and they pretty much gave me no solutions. I bit the bullet and just paid it because I was excited for the design and was on a time crunch. The cake was wet, mushy and tasted expired. The buttercream was tasteless lacking sugar and nobody ate the cake. So disappointed and will never order from them again. Found out you can just order this cake from Walmart for $35. Go to Dortoni bakery said everyone! It had been said, it had to be done. I was expecting to open the heavenly gates but no. I'm not saying that I was disappointed, I'm just saying that it's a bakery, like most other bakeries. We personally tend to judge a bakery on 2 things, the rainbow cookie and the black and white cookie. And for those 2 things, I was not impressed. Rainbow cookie quite honestly was not as good as I've had at other places, not even close. We put this in the middle of the road category. I got a cannoli for someone else who said it was very good, I did not try it. The lemon square was a resounding no. It was dry and not lemony. Ordered a birthday cake for my daughter 48 hours in advance. Went to pick up and I could tell they forgot to make it. The girls were looking around for my cake. The manager says oh it's in the case. She pulls out a cake that was obviously in the case and not made to order. No name on the cake, no paperwork near the cake to indicate it was mine. I said that wasn't made to order no one would even look up at me. Finally she said oh we keep them in the case. (Makes no sense. I worked at a bakery for many years and we kept made to order cakes in the back). So if another customer came in to buy it, they would just sell my cake? There was no way anyone working there would know it was "my" cake since there was nothing to indicate that and remember no one could "find" it. I took the cake anyway since I already paid in full over the phone and that's what my daughter wanted. Served the cake to family and was embarrassed. A dry old cake. I did write them and they said it was "fresh" and I could return, I already served the cake. I'll take it as a loss and I will never buy another cake from that bakery, nor will any of my guests that were served they thought it was terrible. Extremely disappointed with the rainbow cake we ordered for my 50th birthday. My sister asked specifically for a classic rainbow cake, something we order every year from other bakeries and always love. We thought we'd try Dortoni's this time, but what a letdown. Instead of a true rainbow cake, they gave us something filled with overly sweet buttercream all pink and thin, broken layers of rainbow cookies placed outside nothing like what we requested. New location! Looks really nice inside and the staff was so friendly. They offer everything from the other locations. They don't have a freezer like the one in Levittown but you can order ice cream cakes special order. They will fill cannoli to order if you ask-makes such a difference. I love their rainbow cookies, they fill them with apricot jam which I like because then they're not as sweet. In addition to all the baked goods, they offer a full menu of coffee and tea drinks from For Five Coffee. One of the things I tried recently that I loved was a white chocolate raspberry? or cranberry (not sure lol) white chocolate lace cookie. It was a nice twist on it. It's really nice to have a new bakery in the area because most of them are downtown. read more

Went there early on Saturday and placed an order for a cake and cupcakes to be picked up Monday morning on the way to work for a retirement celebration. As always waited a very long time to be helped. But that is to be expected. I was scheduled for an 8 am pickup. Sunday night at 5 pm I received a call stating that my order could not be ready until 10. I explained that this was no good as I had to be in Westchester by 9. The only thing they would do is issue a refund. I asked how this happened and was told that they changed the hours for the bakers. No apologies or accommodation other than a refund. Left me stranded for the office celebration I was put in charge of coordinating. The lack of concern was unacceptable. Needless to say I will no longer be a customer there. So disappointing after 25 years of being a loyal customer there. I imagine they will go the way of all the other businesses in that shopping center and close their doors. read more

Preordered a cake in advance and called directly and spoke with a clerk to specify what I wanted.for a special event and selected it straight from their site. I must have repeated myself at least 3 times to make sure the order was taken correctly. Prepaid and sent my spouse to drive 45 minutes to pick this up a few days later to discover to my horror that we were given the wrong cake. Not only was it not ready in its entirety, but when I called after realizing the mistake that was made and requesting a refund was offered a store credit. You ruined my son's birthday with your screw up and you think I will want to do business with you again! No, thanks. How about you train your staff properly to know what cake is what from the display case and what products you sell. Now I have to wait to speak to the store manager 2 days after the fact to get a refund but more importantly what should have been a happy occasion has now passed and what should have been a great ending to a party was a complete and utter letdown. If you want to order something for a special event stay away from here unless disappointment and ineptitude is what you want to pay for. read more

I've lived on Long Island for 65 years plus. The original Dortoni in Levitown which I believe has been there 50 or 60 years always had a good rep. Since I had a bad experience at Huntington Station location I see that Levitown also was getting negative reviews especially the more recent ones. Whoever is now running that place better take a look because they're going to be hurting eventually has bad reviews catch up and people find out I went into the Huntington Station location today and the bakery doesn't smell.... you could take that two ways, but this is meant to say " I don't know if they bake there" The two rolls that I got were borderline stale. I ate one for breakfast and by the time I got to the second one three or four hours later, it was too hard to even bite into. Very disappointing. It's also interesting that with all the negative reviews nobody bothers to reply to any of them. Very disappointed! I bought pastries for Easter and I'll never go back. I was like where's the Italian flavor ? Everything was bland . You don't walk in before we are open! That's rude,you have to wait" . So I waited, 15 minutes while she brought out bread. Finally got my stuff and left. When I got home realized I was shorted a pound of biscotti. When I called, I was called rude again for going into the store before it was open, and am I coming back. Last night for my daughters 18th Birthday, our 2nd DISASTROUS cake from this location. Dortonis Levittown has always been her favorite bakery and we thought we'd hit pay dirt when a location opened close to us in Huntington Station. We were epically wrong. The cake was mostly frosting, sickeningly sweet. Cake, what little there was, was absolutely dry. Everyone took about two bites out of their cakes; I live in a family of sweet eaters. If that's not telling, I don't know what is. To make matters even WORSE, when I picked up her first cake, service was extremely slow and beyond rude. It was for her graduation, pre-paid, and they did not decorate per my instructions even though it was very detailed on the receipt. The response: we had a lot of cakes this week and the baker doesn't speak English very well. Whaaaaat? When I became upset, one of the counter workers who had to be about 19 started getting loud with me. There was no manager there. The person who was "in charge" wanted to reimburse me with a gift card. No thank you. I would like a partial refund for your mistake and the smeared frosting. I swore I'd never return, but my stepmother acquiesced to my daughter for this Birthday. I promise this: there isn't a person at the party who will be going back to that bakery. Yeah, well, I'm heartbroken ! I'm giving two stars out of some sense of loyalty and that it's not really the staffs fault. The cashiers and the nice people who were wrapping up the food for us. Chocolate Babka, upside down pineapple cake, chocolate cake. Went home Tried two out of three. Both of them sucked Chocolate cake piece seemed to smell old and like they used margarine. You know what I mean ? Not good. At all. Horrible. Worse yet, the pineapple upside down cake was dry. What the what ??? Seriously ??? This is DORTONI. SUPPOSED TO BE THE BEST BAKERY ON LONG ISLAND. I've bought tons of cakes and things from the Levittown location. Excellent quality food that was always satisfying, always wonderful. Never ever let me down. What the hell went wrong here ? I don't know. I'm in shock. This is ridiculous. On top of all that, the babka was a gift for someone else. I was so damn excited. It was the last babka they had and I was all, 'oh yeah, I'm taking that one' ! I've never looked so bad in front of someone in my life. I talked it up and recommended it so highly and after they told me it sucked, I was absolutely crushed. Destroyed. So so Upset. Feeling like dog shyte. Felt so horrible. These people know chocolate and they know babka and this review coming from them is legit and totally valid, so I have to respect it. Add that to my own first hand bad experience with the other two items and I'm thinking I must be in opposite world, in lalaland, in a parallel universe where everything is negative and bad ! The Strawberry Shortcake was a big disappointment. I purchased 3 lbs. of cookies and various breads, so I had a large order that was about $112.00. When I realized that my family was less than happy with this cake, I brought it back to Dortoni with the cash receipt dated that same date and they told me the $29.95 that I paid in cash would be refunded to me with a paper store credit. Somehow, I can't see how me returning it the same day and with only one piece missing can not justify them refunding me my cash. The cake had strawberry jam from a jar in it and the whipped cream was not smooth and creamy. I will return to my favorite bakery in Northport called The Copenhagen Bakery. Copenhagen Bakery takes great pride in all of their baked goods and would never try to pass off a low budget strawberry shortcake like this one from Dortoni for $29.95. I think even Costco would have a better version. Poor customer service - They made me open my eyes and I shall never shop at Dortoni in Huntington again. There is no ambience. It's just a store.
