Stayed at the Marriot Residence Inn with family and went out for a family bday dinner this place was amazing only a few minutes away. The owner whom was really Mexican and staff went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and special from the moment we arrived. The food was excellent we ordered Guacomole to start and it was made right at our table so cool. I ordered the carne asada chimichanga and the rest of my family ordered sizzling steak and chicken fajitas. We were celebrating 3 bdays the owner went and surprised us with 2 platters of dessert cinnamon twists with chocalate and sugar powder was amazing! So sweet! And to top it Off they brought us Mexican hats so we could take pics. We ended up having a real Mexican fiesta in Pompano Beach. Great atmosphere decor beautiful too. Clean and smelled delicious even out in the parking lot. We Will def be back and even though I live in Miami the food and vibe was so awesome its worth the hour drive. I went here with pretty high expectations, but was disappointed. My server was great, super attentive but unfortunately my food was a let down. I had the carne asada, and asked for rice with black beans. My plate arrived but it was the wrong order, and then with just black beans. I eventually received a side of rice, but the experience was a little tainted. My meal was decent but absolutely not what I was expecting. What a delightful little gem! Great, fresh and generous portions of tasty, tender and just spicy enough food. Fresh guacamole made table side, in a huge bowl. We split a shrimp quesadilla, which was super good! I had the chicken enchiladas mole, which was spicy and rich with tender chucks of well seasoned chicken, he had the steak fajita burrito, which was HUGE and packed with really tasty tender steak and a ton of cheese. For the two of us, it was about $60 with drinks, and we left stupid full and happy with a doggie bag. And, they have Negro Modelo on tap! Starting coming here several years ago through a Groupon but you don't need a groupon because the lunch prices are great. We love the Chicken Chimichangas which comes with beans and rice. Chips & salsa are complementary. In a strip mall but nice job with the decor. Clever statures of the Dos Amigos out front and the restaurant is clean and comfy inside. I had enchilada suizas (bland) and two beef tacos (meat too salty). But the real kicker is their credit card policy. It's back ass-wards. All in all, the food was sub-standard. This is probably one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. First of all, let me start off by saying, there is no ambience or atmosphere at this place whatsoever. The peppers and onions were still Half raw, and didn't have any fajita flavoring or seasoning. The steak didn't look to appetizing either. The fajitas came out with no tortillas and no cheese either. Had to request these items, and once they had been brought to our table, the little bit of heat in the dish was long gone. The rice was hard and crunchy and seemed like it had been made many hours ago and was just inedible. I received 3 tortillas, and once those were eaten, i had to wait another 10 minutes to get 3 more, at which point i was no longer hungry for this sub par food. I actually asked the waiter why the fajitas didn't come out sizzling, and he just said "i don't know"‍. I usually do not write bad reviews because I feel bad for small businesses, but this experience was bad enough to make me take the extra 5 min out of my day to write this. It actually makes me wonder how this can happen to an establishment. There is no possible way that this place opened with such horrible food. How could they possibly still be in business? This must've been a gradual downfall over time. I guess we must assume that the owner has lost touch or doesn't really care anymore? Wish i had taken pictures of my food to showcase how bad this actually was. Honestly I expected just a regular Mexican restaurant, but this was presently surprising. The salsa was amazing for me, I love spicy stuff and it had just the right amount of heat and you can tell it was homemade. I also enjoyed the freshness of all of the food, the vegetables and everything you could tell that it was just prepared and fresh. Which is nice! I had the opportunity to try this place for lunch today. We walked in were greeted almost immediately was told to take a seat anywhere. Chips & salsa were brought to the table right away. A few minutes passed and I believe its was the owners wife sent a young man to our table to take our drink order. He brought our drinks right away, walked away we then sat there for 20 minutes waiting for someone to take our order the restaurant was far from busy 6-7 tables occupied. The owners wife came over asked if we were ready to order my reply was a while ago. She then flagged down our waiter to come take our order. We ordered the lunch specials I got the chicken chimi & my husband ordered beef enchilada. The food came out in a timely manner it was hot and delicious. Unfortunately this was the last time we saw our waiter for the remainder of our visit. the other server & the wife kept tabs on us our drinks ect..... The wife cleared our plates when we finished I asked if that young man was our server she replied yes. I proceeded to inform her of the terrible service of which she was apparently aware & again apologized. I asked for my check which he brought right over also wasted no time to come get my credit card , he could not find the time to see if we needed anything but wasted no time trying to get paid I then informed he he charged me the dinner prices again my corrected check arrived . Believe me the tip was reflected in my service. I will return for the food, portions & prices were very good. service not so much at least I am aware that.
