My husband and I have been loyal customers for over two years, and Dos Coyotes was one of our favorite places to eat. Unfortunately, our last three visits have been consistently disappointing, and we've decided we won't be returning. About a year ago, the manager (or possibly the owner) was always present. He was professional, friendly, and genuinely seemed to care about both the customers and the quality of the business. Since we stopped seeing him, we've noticed a significant decline. We always order two Yucatán chicken salads. More often than not, the salads have had very little chicken. On one visit, the salad was completely drenched in an overpowering vinegar dressing, making it difficult to enjoy. More concerning, after each of our last three meals, both my husband and I became queasy within a few hours and experienced stomach issues that sent us running to the bathroom. After the third occurrence, we realized it was no longer a coincidence and made the difficult decision to stop eating here. It's disappointing because this used to be one of our favorite restaurants. We hope management takes these concerns seriously and works to restore the quality and consistency that made this place so enjoyable in the past. read more

We enjoy coming here! I've been here to this location a handful of times now and my favorite is the Caesar salad with chicken. I also like that their salads are on an-open tortilla. My favorite thing about Dos Coyotes is their FRESH salsa bar and there's so much to choose from! There's about 8 different ones and the presentation is just beautiful compared to other mediocre places with a salsa bar. The service is also outstanding with team staff and managers smiling and greeting and assisting you. Just check out the pics of the different salads we have ordered thus far. The ambiance is also bright, colorful and clean (which are a must). You are comfortable eating because your table and seats and its surroundings are all clean. Just goes to show that prices don't need to be over $20 to get a high quality meal with good portion sizes. Food is excellent and unique... recommend the Paella Burrito! If you want typical then go across the street, Chipotle's chicken cartilage bowl is waiting for you at Bird Cage. The energetic youthful staff at Dos Coyotes works harder than any other restaurant on the Sunrise food corridor. Some customers might be better off ordering through door dash, but for those that actually show up will find the staff goes out of their way... "the Coyote Way" even for the most distinguished guests that face social dining challenges. And the ambience... I love the fresh salsa bar, adjacent to the grown ups bar with that south west "Mexicali" ambiance that has made this establishment stand the test of time in the ever evolving Sacramento fast casual restaurant scene. read more

Had a not so great experience Came by with my sister and my niece for lunch after attending the nearby craft show. We weren't starving so we got a taco plate to share and got a kids meal. Of course this is the one time I didn't take pics of the food but my order ended up being wrong, and they only gave me about 5 chips as a serving. I went up and purchased another side of chips for $1.50 which came in a basket and the boy only put like 10 chips in. It was a sad little serving. I felt like the manager was watching him and the whole staff has been directed to only give a small serving of chips. So weird!! Is there a chip shortage! We shared the small portion of food that was not a small price (good thing we weren't hungry - even if we both ordered that plate it wouldn't have been enough) and while finishing the meal we seen servers deliver huuuge plates of burritos so large they don't even roll it. They serve the tortilla opened with a pile of meat, cheese, veggies etc in the middle. The serving was huge and looked fresh and not skimpy at all. I guess that's what you should order if you come here and want to eat . Also order a side of chips if you want more than 3 bites. Unless I HAVE to go here for some reason, I won't be back. read more

I called dos at 8:06 to place my usual togo ranchero enchilada order. Madi asked to put me on a brief hold, which I agreed to while driving over. Eleven minutes later, I was sitting in the parking lot and still on hold. I assumed they must've been slammed but when I looked inside there weren't any guests. Finally I decided to just go in to place the to go order and the girl who helped me was friendly, but she was coughing openly, not covering her cough, and not washing her hands. She also touched dirty dishes and didn't wash her hands before handling my togo enchiladas and chips. When I got home, I found a dark hair in my beans. I was hoping to stay out of y'all's hair at the end of the day but instead got your hair. This ruined my dinner and Saturday night honestly. I've been coming here for years and love that this restaurant offers great vegetarian options. I never saw a manager anywhere in the back or front the whole time I was waiting on the togo but I truly hope the management team addresses these short comings. read more

This is probably the WORST Dos Coyotes location I've had the misfortune of patronizing. The last two times I ordered a paella burrito it was badly made. My most recent order was disgusting. The shrimp and the sausage they served in the burrito tasted old and had probably already just expired I got food poisoning. I had ordered a couple taco plates for my family as well and the meat was so overcooked it was leathery. I think they were trying to get rid of spoiled food without anyone noticing. I will NEVER dine at this location ever again!! Management should be ashamed. read more

This location in Citrus Heights is our go to location, easy to get in and out as there is a Stop light at Sunrise and Alta Sunrise Dr. Ordered online with the Dos Coyotes app. Easy to use, order food and pick the time for pick up. Then go to restaurant for pick up. Everytime we have ordered on the app our food is ready by the time we walk in. When we got home about 10-15 mins away everything was still warm. TIP: There is a 15 cents Service charge when ordering on the App. We love the wide variety of salsa's at the salsa bar. My favorite is Roasted Tomatillo Salsa. My husband likes the Harbenaro & Roasted Tomato salsa. My husband, my son and I love their Shrimp Burrito. We also love the tacos so we got a Tres taco al carte plate, and each got our favorite flavors. My husband got the Original Steak taco, comes with steak, cabbage slaw, guacamole, cilantro, onion. He said it was flavorful and really good. My son and I like the Mahi Mahi taco, comes with white sauce, red salsa, agave-lime slaw, cilantro & onion. Dos Coyotes has some great tasting salads, they are so big that my husband and I share. Personally love Dos Coyotes for a quick bite or ever for take away! This location was big and had good parking and the staff were nice. Something different is they had a little bar with a tv which was cool. We always get the same things food wise: Navajo nachos (blue chips) with steak 5/5 my husband and kids favorite. Yin Yang salad (add chicken) 5/5 ask for extra dressing! The kids quesadillas come with orange slices, beans, and rice. 4/5 I've had other things throughout the years like their seasonal tacos and burritos and quesadillas, and I would say they range from a 3/5 to 4/5, but most of the time we stick with our classics and our favorites. read more

Just got home and they either made my order totally wrong or gave me someone else's food. No shrimp at all inside the burrito. The reasons I really like the Dos Coyote restaurant chain is their consistency, reliability and great customer service! I was spoiled with two Dos Coyote restaurants in Davis. One on each side of town. And they were my go-to-places when I was craving Mexican food. They were very popular with the University students as well as the Davis public. Always busy. Moving to El Dorado Hills without the ability to get my weekly "Dos" makes me sad.(: The nearest one is in Folsom about 10 miles from my home. I found myself in Citrus Heights yesterday running errands. It was getting late and I was getting quite hangry! Definitely did not want to go home and even consider cooking in our lovely 102 degree temperature. Dos just popped into my head. I grabbed my phone to see what would be the fastest route to the Folsom restaurant. Lo and behold... Dos Coyote pops up as being .04 miles from me at that very moment! A three minute drive! Woohoo!!! I had no clue there was a Dos in Citrus Heights! Sunrise and Madson people:)! Reliability. Walking in felt like I was home. Same layout and southwest decor. Clean lines. Modern colors. The simple counter order process with the food items/beverages listed boldly above counter. Hard copy menus available too within easy reach. The daily specials always listed right as you enter. And an employee front and center ready to take your order or taking orders. Consistency. Same menu items at each one! I love that. My food experiences have always been excellent. And today was no exception. From the always quality nachos, plates, salads, burritos, tacos...it's ALL good! And generous portions! Wow...now meatless options! Many varieties of beer. Plenty of non-alcoholic choices too. My fav is the margarita! Pre-made using Hornitas tequila poured over good size ice cubes...salted or non salted rim. I'm telling you...fabulous!!! From the marquee to the smiling staff, this is a very welcoming restaurant. We needed vegan options and were quite pleased by the very sweet and helpful staff. I met the owner while finishing the transaction and perusing the beer selections. We enjoyed a brief but engaging conversation. I asked the person taking my order for a suggestion on a salad, and he was openly irritable. Clearly I pissed the cook off by asking for a fajita salad. I was advised that they were closing in 20 minutes and told them that we would eat fast because we were very hungry. In fact I ordered an extra set of chips and salsa so that we could have something to munch on while we were waiting but that was never offered and was never given even though we were charged for it. The salad that I was served was not edible, and in fact was against healthy food standards. I literally would need a knife and fork to cut through the very large vegetables. Worse than that, the green onions that were in the salad still had the roots and the dead ends left on them and questionable as to whether or not they were even washed before they were prepared. I ended up not eating the salad for fear of whatever else the cook might've had in store for me in the salad. I put it in my refrigerator overnight and came back this morning to look closer at what I was served and found that the tortilla it was served in was severely burnt. Choke-worthy sized red onion that no reasonable person could eat. Clearly the cook was unhappy with me. I honestly had no clue I was being so offensive. After we left my son said the cook was angry when asked to prepare fajita. I would have changed my order if I knew I was being so inconvenient! Background: times are very tough right now, and us going out to eat is a rare treat. This will be the only time this month that I take my son out to eat. Period. I won't return to this location. We will be taking our business to the Folsom location. The cost of gas is coming up on seven dollars a gallon and there's a war in Ukraine. read more

Since Sunday (May 12) was Mother's Day, we went on Monday the 13th. The salmon burrito, with extra salmon, was amazing. It was cooked to purr-fection. Our cat would have loved it. The salmon was very enjoyable and I'm glad that I order the salmon burrito. The cook/chef deserves 5 stars and a pay raise. We hadn't been to dos Cayotes for a few months, because the previous salmon was dry-ish. Tonight it was perfect- cooked, moist, and tasty. We will be back. My wife and I have eaten at Dos Coyotes maybe a 100 times. We used to eat at the Roseville location and occassionally at the Folsom location. Since the location in Citrus Heights opened a few years ago we have been eating there. We have always enjoyed the food. Never left anything on the plate. However, today was different. As we frequently do, we shared the Santa Fe Nachos. We usually order it Al Pastor, BBQ pork, with black beans. Today we were informed that DC no longer serves pork at all, so we had steak. Rather than black beans we were served kidney beans. The dish was so sticky that it was difficult to pull the nachos apart. The point is that the dinner was lousy. The texture was bad, the taste was poor, and it was was altogether unenjoyable. After about 10 years and maybe a 100 times eating at DC, I doubt if we will ever eat there again, which is too bad because it was a restaurant that we really enjoyed going to. Good is always delicious and consistent. The SALSA BAR has lots of options and yummy! My favorite is the jalapeños and carrots. To my surprise, they built a bar on the back end of the restaurant and they have some good drink options. Keep in mind that you have to order food at the walk up counter before you sit down for a drink IF you want food. You can drink without getting food. The bar was a great addition! PARKING: Parking lot is a bit small but you can usually find a spot on your first go round. We definitely will be back! read more

Thanks to my grandparents who hooked me up with a Dos Coyotes Border Cafe gift card for Christmas because to be honest, I have never heard of DCBC before - I have only driven by it while cursing on Sunrise Ave. Today my hubby and I shared a Border Burrito which consisted of steak, rice, beans, sour cream and salsa. This burrito was quite delicious and large enough to easily share between two people. The burrito comes with a side of tortilla chips, and unlimited, full access to the salsa bar. Cool spot for Mexican food. The inside and outside of the restaurant look so pretty. They have an amazing salsa bar which is always appreciated. The staff was friendly and were helpful with recommendations. We tried the Mahi Mahi burrito and the Santa Fe Nachos. The burrito was good, just wasn't a huge fan of the corn in the mix, and the nachos were missing the guacamole and the sour cream (the best parts!) Otherwise the food was good. Noticed they also serve alcohol, which is a plus for those days when you feel like a cocktail. Overall, a fun spot that I would check out again! read more

Great place for family, guest and friends. Many choices and all are good. Street tacos, big healthy salads, burritos, quesadillas for kids and their salsa bar is always fresh and interesting. In addition to eating here almost once a week, we have ordered there catering packages for both work functions and family gatherings.
