Fish Tacos-Special of the day was on point!

Fish Tacos-Special of the day was on point, the best meal I've had at this location. Please don't get rid of it! Super fresh, even the beans and rice was really good. Good chef of the day!

We came here for my sisters birthday. I got my food Togo but the chips and salsa were great. The water was superb and there was no problem getting a straw.

This location in Citrus Heights is our go to location, easy to get in and out as there is a Stop light at Sunrise and Alta Sunrise Dr. Ordered online with the Dos Coyotes app. Easy to use, order food and pick the time for pick up. Then go to restaurant for pick up. Everytime we have ordered on the app our food is ready by the time we walk in. When we got home about 10-15 mins away everything was still warm. TIP: There is a 15 cents Service charge when ordering on the App. We love the wide variety of salsa's at the salsa bar. My favorite is Roasted Tomatillo Salsa. My husband likes the Harbenaro & Roasted Tomato salsa. My husband, my son and I love their Shrimp Burrito. We also love the tacos so we got a Tres taco al carte plate, and each got our favorite flavors. My husband got the Original Steak taco, comes with steak, cabbage slaw, guacamole, cilantro, onion. He said it was flavorful and really good. My son and I like the Mahi Mahi taco, comes with white sauce, red salsa, agave-lime slaw, cilantro & onion. Dos Coyotes has some great tasting salads, they are so big that my husband and I share. This location also has a bar in the dining area, in case you are looking for a flavorful drink to go with your meal when you dine in.

I ordered a shrimp burrito online and just got home, no shrimp at all. Very disappointing.

Complimentary corn tortilla chips, salsa, and refried bean dip with cheese. I loved the REFRIED BEAN DIP! I ordered the Steak a la Chicana. I didn't read or listen carefully enough that the skirt steak with sauteed onions and bell peppers are covered in Spanish sauce. The sauce is actually quite tasty with a little kick. I used it and the salsa to flavor the black beans. However, I really just wanted grilled steak. I should have ordered steak fajitas, a grilled steak burrito or quesadilla, or a carne asada plate. The Steak a la Chicana was a generous portion, which is definitely 2 meals for me. Cilantro rice wasn't anything special. The SWEET CORN TAMALITO is yummy comfort. Choice of beans: refried beans, black beans, or pinto beans. I suspect refried beans is the tastiest option. El Tapatio would be a great gathering place for friends and family. It's located on Sunrise Blvd in Citrus Heights near See's Candies and other restaurants.

The prices felt high for the quality and portions received. I ordered a carne asada burrito (rice, beans, meat, Pico, cheese) for $14.50. While the burrito was large, it was mostly rice and beans, and the carne asada itself was disappointing. The texture was closer to ground beef than the grilled steak flavor and consistency I was expecting. My husband ordered the three street taco plate with rice and beans for $16.50, choosing carne asada, al pastor, and carnitas. He had similar thoughts about the carne asada, and felt that both the al pastor and carnitas lacked seasoning and overall flavor. He also purchased a canned soda for $2.50, which added to what already felt like a pricey meal. I understand that restaurant costs have increased over the years, and I don't mind paying more when the food quality matches the price. However, between the lack of air conditioning, the mid food, and the overall value, we didn't feel the experience justified the cost. The service was friendly, which we appreciated, but with so many other local Mexican restaurants offering more flavorful food at similar price points, we don't see ourselves returning.

That kind of consistency is rare and deserves respect. The chicken tacos, the menudo, the enchiladas, the rice, the beans--every single plate delivers. Walking through the door still feels the same as it did all those years ago. Same vibe, same soul, same feeling of familiarity that hits the moment you sit down. In a world where everything is constantly being "updated," this spot stayed true to itself--and I'm grateful for that. This place is something special to me. As much as I want to shout from the rooftops and tell everyone to come eat here, part of me wants to keep it just the way it is without fighting the crowds. Some gems you protect a little. The staff is always amazing--warm, welcoming, and genuinely hospitable. They don't just serve food here; they take care of you. This isn't just a restaurant. It's a lifelong tradition.
