Got ripped off by the small amount of guacamole. Been coming here for over a decade, and thought I'd treat myself. We paid extra for the guac, and boy was I wrong! There was barely any guac in my burrito. I could see the green, but couldn't taste it. This is how they get you with the shrinkflation with the ingredients these days! Shared parking lot. Clean interior, with little outdoor seating that's shared with the other businesses in the plaza and plenty of indoor seating. No hand sanitizer in sight, but the staff do wear masks. Handful of customers in line at the lunch hour on a weekday. The line moved slow, but our food came out in less than ten minutes. I ordered the tres taco basket to-go with regular chicken, crispy beef, and crispy chicken. "Crispy chicken" doesn't mean that the meat is crispy from frying, it means that it's a crispy, oily taco shell. The tacos are a bit bland on their own. Of the three, the beef tasted the best. The regular chicken had the least pleasant eating experience since the flour tortillas were soft and soggy. Picking up some pico de gallo and/or lime at the self-serve salsa bar is a must. However, I'm not a fan of how small they cut up their limes; the pieces are hard to grip without directly touching the flesh of the fruit. The chips and regular salsa are okay, nothing special. I've tried some of their burrito bowls before, which were lacking in flavor. They give you a huge bag for to-go orders even if you only have one or two items, which is nice. They didn't include any napkins, so remember to grab some before you leave. Overall, I'd be willing to come back and try some other menu items, but this place wouldn't be my first choice. read more

I'm vegan and twice I have ordered the southwest burrito with no cheese and today for the second time they've put cheese in my burrito. I didn't even notice until I was almost done. Well, it finally happened. Dos Coyotes has apparently given in to the recent restaurant trend of skimping on quantity and care for how they serve their items. Ordered my usual Paella burrito. Immediately upon pulling it out of the bag I could tell it felt a bit light. Halfway through the burrito and I'd encountered nothing but bare rice. No aioli, no meat, no cheese. Finally past the halfway mark I start encountering the rest of the ingredients, but there's no sausage. None at all. The usual two shrimp and chunks of fish are there with a skimpy amount of the aioli and maybe a little bit of cheese, but one of the main ingredients is completely AWOL. I've worked nearby for nearly a decade and it's really sad to see one of our favorite spots slip downhill like this. $14 for a burrito that's half plain rice and completely missing ingredients is not it. read more

Visiting from out of state, I came to this location for my annual Dos Coyotes fix and found the food to be good. Service was quick and friendly, portion size remained the same for the border burrito and Navajo nachos, but I feel they skimped a bit on the chips; everything tastes as good as I remember from my childhood. The salsa bar still exists but I was sad when I found the green salsa had an off, bitter taste. Depending where I am, I'd be back to this location or Elk Grove during my next visit. read more

I'm a huge fan of Dos and I've been to this location a few times, but today I brought my classmate in for her first visit. We took a study break around one and the restaurant was full, no surprise since workers and students were grabbing lunch. We were quickly helped and the cashier gave me no issues when I presented my pocket points coupon for 50% off a burrito. I had the Navajo nachos w/ steak and it's HUGE. Each chip had some cheese on it and there was plenty of beans and steak spread throughout the entree. I ate until I was full and packed the rest to go, which filled an entire take out box. Great bang for your buck! My friend had the border burrito with chicken and it was packed with lots of fix ins. She had a hard time holding the burrito after the second bite; The tortilla came undone and unwrapped itself so it became really messy. I would recommend cutting it in half and trying to eat it like that or just use a knife & fork! Either way, she really enjoyed it and I'm sure you would too. Their self serve salsa bar is one of the reasons I love Dos so much! They have plenty of options for all spice levels. I always opt for the spicer salsas and they do not disappoint! Today I had the fresh spicy salsa and the peppers inside had me sweating! The one thing I didn't like was how big they were cut and it wasn't proportional to the tomatoes. Their soda machine was also lacking options. Half of the sodas were out, I'm not sure if they were unaware or if they just were out of syrup. If you go to Sac State, work in the area or just happen to be driving by, you can't go wrong with grabbing lunch at Dos! They're fast, friendly and delicious! read more

I'm grateful that this, my favorite Dos Coyotes location, is still open for business during the coronavirus lockdown. It's forced me to take advantage of their online ordering system, which I must say is one of the smoothest processes I've seen from a local restaurant. Feeling for something healthier than my average takeout order, I went with the Yucatan Chicken salad. It's a flavorful mix of charbroiled chicken breast, mixed greens, black beans, red onions, carrots, sweet peppers, corn and a house "Southwest" vinaigrette. It's a massive offering served on a flour tortilla. I can rarely finish it, but they always deliver a quality medley of top quality ingredients and it makes for a perfect lunch. The in-restaurant experience may not be on the table, but having fresh food for pick-up is a very close second. Look forward to updating again when they are back on their feet after this is all over with. read more

In Sacramento for a meeting. Had Dos Coyotes for dinner across from my hotel. Ordered the red Chile enchilada with all rice no beans. Good number of chicken enchiladas and plenty of rice. They have a great lineup of different salsas for my chips. Only downside is the red Chile sauce. There is a strange taste to the red Chile sauce that I can't quite figure out. Not really for me. I always order their chicken burrito with added corn & sour cream. SO good. The burrito is huge and I can only finish half of it every time! This massive burrito is stuffed with grilled chicken, tomatoes, rice, sour cream, corn & cilantro. The chicken is very flavorful and served hot off the grill! It also comes with a side of chips. Love their salsa bar, they have an array to choose with different levels of spice! My kids love coming here and spotting out the different colored geckos along the walls and ceilings ;) they also think the coyotes sleep in the kitchen at night! Haha. Cute decors! read more

It doesn't get much better for Tex-Mex food than Dos Coyotes. If you going in knowing you're going to get fresh food with good portions, you're going to be happy! It's definitely a different type of food than a taco truck/tent, and that's ok (both can be delicious). Their bar of salsas and condiments remain top tier and can't be beat (onions and cilantro on everything, please!). This Dos Coyotes spot is nice because there's some shared outdoor seating with Plant Burger, so you can bring a bring group and pretty much be guaranteed to get a spot to sit. read more

Last time I just went with it, but I need to be gluten free and am allergic to tomatoes, and my husband is very careful when ordering. He ordered a burrito bowl with no tomatoes, and just came back with a burrito full of tomatoes inside. If someone has dietary restrictions, this isn't just a harmless error. Also, all of our food was cold. It's too expensive for these mix ups, if they aren't going to listen at the counter when you order, you need new staff. Not cool. read more

They are shockingly bad at getting orders right. Most of the time it happens on our takeout orders when it's too late to ask for them to fix it, which is extra frustrating. It was a great experience. I had the Southwest burrito, which was just delicious, and my fiancee had the Colorado burrito. Also great. The staff was very friendly, and our food was delivered to us promptly. And it was just enough to fill us both up.
