Tried it again and hard fail. I feel bad giving only one star so I'm giving two. I oredered a quesadilla and tortilla soup for delivery. The quesadilla bottom was soggy, making it virtually inedible. I ate the inside with a fork but the chicken was bland. This could not be eaten as a quesadilla. The soup was so oily, I only ate one bite. Absolutely disgusting meal. My wife and I were regular customers when this place was Los Fuentes, in the strip mall next door. Neither the food nor the service was as good after it moved to the spot in front of Kroger. We've visited a few times since, and each time seems to be worse. The line was out the door last night for Cinco de Mayo, so we went for dinner today. The waiter was awful, and the food was mediocre at best. The worst was my wife's order of a side of whole beans. She was served lukewarm, canned black beans - no flavor, no spice. Just a bit of cotija cheese sprinkled on top. Pass this place and go to Maíz. read more

Enjoyed lunch here when visiting Ypsilanti. I had a lunch combo of taco, chalupa, and tostada. Food was good. It was as expected. Everything was seasoned well (no heat). Everything tasted like standard American-Mexican. The price was good for the lunch (~$10) which was enough food for me. Chips and salsa came to the table. The restaurant was clean. The service was good, but on the slow side. I would eat here again. Hard to give it more than 3 stars because it was so down the middle. read more

When she brought it out she bring any silverware took at least 10 minutes while that pile of crap sat infront of me making me want to puke. Hm, where will I be starting? My friend reccomended this spot, raved to a group of friends about how good the food was. Then BOOM, everything went wrong. I ordered a Birria taco combo, which by the way, doesn't come with any rice and beans. You're paying $14 just for the birrias, so I had to order a side of rice. And I wasn't in a very petite mood, by the way.. I hadn't eaten the entire day, so I also ordered 2 steak tacos on the side. So, I get my birria tacos and rice first. Great heavens. The birria meat was not any type of tender, so if you're looking for tendernism, don't go here. I'm still picking out birria from my teeth 6 hours later. So anyways, the corn tortilla on the tacos was also very, VERY dry. The steak on my steak tacos was hard, a little burnt, and dry. It's like they prepped all their meat for the day, had it sitting in the fridge, and reheated it per order. Now, the rice. You know you want some good rice when you go to a Mexican restaurant. This rice was terrible. It was cold, dry, I had to dump my birria sauce on top to make it any type of appealing. The customer service however is amazing and the waiters were really attentive! I did a doordash pickup. I ordered a cgeese Queso and nacho supreme with beef. It was not a good idea to order the nachos. By the time I picked it up and took it home the chips were really soggy. It is great that they give an extra bag of nacho Chios. This helped alot. read more

Excellent quality and echos the pretty decor of their previous restaurant close by. Easily the best quality Mexican available around Ann Arbor. Prices are average and affordable. Portions are huge. The queso fundido is highly recommended! Fresh made chips, all white meat chicken, tostada will blow your mind and challenge you to eat it without it spilling over! Music is a little loud but otherwise the atmosphere is clean and perfect. Love the house salsa. I do not drink anymore but recall them as fruity, fresh and strong! read more

We moved here from Tucson AZ over a year ago, and have only found one other Mexican restaurant in Ypsi that seems authentic and not too Americanized. We just tried this place last night and were really impressed. I got the Chile Verde, which legitimately was the best Chile Verde I've ever had -- the pork was fall-apart tender, like it had been cooking the entire day. The beans and rice were also great, especially the rice -- very flavorful and not too greasy at all. My husband is a lot more picky about authentic Mexican food quality, but liked what he ordered (taquitos with pico de gallo) and wants to come back too. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful -- all the furniture is ornate and hand-carved, and there are beautiful paintings on the walls that mirror the windows in the restaurant. I have a feeling that this restaurant will become a regular spot for us. read more

To preface this review: the restaurant was NOT overly busy and they most certainly had enough staff on hand as a couple of them were walking around doing next to nothing. Trust me I was there long enough, as you'll see in this review. I put in my order online (Order #: 325951 in case the restaurant cares enough to look it up) around 6:05pm. The online order told me the pickup was 6:30pm. Normally I have an easy give or take 15 minutes with this as online never can judge the foot traffic accurately. However, upon arrival at 6:30pm was told food was still not ready and I was perfectly fine with sitting and waiting. 6:35pm 2 gentlemen walked in and grabbed menus, and started looking through them and placed an order. By 6:45 to 6:50pm their orders were ready and in their hands and they were out the door. Orders that were placed over 30 minutes past when mine was. I also want to cancel the excuse that "well sometimes with big orders they wait to see if it's real," by mentioning that the order was fully paid for online nearly 30min prior to my arrival. When it's paid there is no excuse but to make the food. After finally receiving my order around 6:59pm no apology for wait was given and the bags were tightly packed and overflowing. I should have checked there and then but when I arrived at home I found a few items missing. Nearly an hour to prepare the food and order and items were still missing. When I called them I was received with snarky and blatant unapologetic attitude, even after they agreed on the phone that they indeed saw my items and that they were not bagged. I told them I was not driving back in for the items and that this was entirely their fault and with attitude they said I have to go online and request the refund through there. Which is fine, I'm not inept on using the internet, but their complete disregard for accountability and attitude and unapologetic responses made this one of the worst experiences I've ever had. This is not the same attitude from Las Fuente. The new location has gone to their heads. The food isn't as good as it was in the first location either. I'll drive across town for lower rated restaurants before considering returning here. read more

I was just down the street at the Eagle Crest resort for a conference and thought Mexican food sounded good, and this was the closest location. Upon arrival, I noticed that the outside was very dilapidated and I debated not even going in, but thought sometimes those places are really good. Boy was I wrong... Upon entering around 5:15PM, the place was deserted. There is enough seating for 100+ people, but only one table was occupied. I was seated quickly and chips and salsa were brought to the table. The chips were crispy, but had a very strong odor to them. They tasted the same as they smelled...like old seafood-riddled grease. The salsa wasn't too bad, but there were huge chunks of tomato, which I don't really care for. It took about six minutes for a waiter to arrive and I asked for water. He seemed upset that I didn't order a soda or alcohol. When he returned with my water, I ordered a steak burrito with beans and rice inside and cheese sauce on top. I also asked for minimal red sauce on top, because I prefer the taste of the cheese sauce, rather than another sauce covering it up. However, when my burrito arrived, it was smothered in red sauce. You couldn't even tell there was cheese sauce on top. The burrito was huge, which was a plus, but the taste was horrendous. The steak was so fatty and grisly that I couldn't even chew it. It had absolutely zero seasoning and there were only maybe six pieces in the entire burrito. I had to spit out three because they were simply inedible. The rice, beans, onions, and peppers were okay, but I would have also preferred some lettuce or other toppings as well. I finished about half of the burrito before throwing in the towel. Upon finishing my food, I had to wait another ten minutes for my waiter to come back with my check. By this time, there were three other tables occupied in the entire restaurant. I also had to ask for another glass of water, because I did not receive any refills during my meal. Let's just say, I will NOT be back. read more

It's a clean place with friendly staff, but the food is VERY not worth the money. I got the fish taco, and it was the worst fish taco I've ever had. (I had to take the fish out and just eat the tortilla with the bland rice and beans). It smelled very fishy, was dry, and had a weird texture. The best part of the meal was the chips and salsa. Lots of tables are available, which can be moved together for a bigger party although they did this for my group, the other tables around didn't have a lot of room. The food was good. The trio tacos were tasty and meat was cooked nicely. We also had the chimichanga vallarta (I think) and that was also tasty. My dad ordered the Mexican bowl and he seemed to really like it as well! I would come back for sure. One thing I wasn't sure about was that there was a sign sayinG they had arbor brewing beers on tap but when the server was asked he did not list them and there was no mention of the other beers. ‍ This place is a little bit more pricey than Los Tres that's in AA/ypsi. But I personally liked the tacos I got here better than Los tres. I'll have to come again to get a better feel. read more

I had a bridal shower at this restaurant on Saturday. we had about 40 people and the event went off without a hitch. When I booked the event I spoke to Alondra she was awesome. She had great suggestions for our menu and when we arrived to start decorating, she was there. She got the back door open for us so we did not have to bring everything through the restaurant. She moved tables around and had really good ideas about how we should decorate with our balloons. The food was great. The service was great. Usually always have a great experience here but I got takeout on Saturday to support this small, local restaurant. I'd been craving tacos all week long and thought this was the solution to my problems. It...sort of was. What I ordered was 3 carnitas tacos with pico and tomatillo salsa on top. What I got was 3 corn tortillas with chunks of meet in them and nothing else. The carnitas were fine. The beans were fine. The side of rice I ordered was also fine. But those were very sad tacos and I'm definitely not satisfied. It was tricky finding an accurate menu online somewhere so maybe that was part of the problem. The rest of my family enjoyed their food, so that saved it. And their queso fundido was delicious as it always is. I'll hunt for tacos elsewhere, but will still visit Dos Fuentes. As "Dos" in the name implies, this is a second location of this tasty Ypsi restaurant. The first location, La Fuente, is just across the parking lot and closed now that the new location is officially open. At the new place, you'll find the same great menu, same great staff and same great food and drinks! But everything is shiny and new inside the bright pink building that locals in this neck of the woods have watched undergo a renovation for at least a couple of years. The bar area is a little more intimate and the tables and booths have improved views from big windows all around the restaurant. I'm regular here and love the chips and salsa that arrive pronto, usually delivered by the same server (it feels like we are old friends now) as well as the freshly made guacamole we order as a starter every time. It's delicious! Chalupas are our go-to, sometimes with a side of rice sometimes not (usually take some home if we do). An order of two chalupas will fill you up. They are loaded with beans, quac, lettuce, tomato and cheese. We've also ordered plenty of other things from the menu and have never been disappointed. Orders come out quickly but no one rushes you away from the table. Linger, enjoy! read more

Set up reservations for my rehearsal dinner 8 months ago, checked every month to make sure we were still on their books...this Tuesday ordered take out and was confirming the reservations for Oct 8th and was informed 1 MONTH OUT that they would NOT HONOR the reservations because it was a Friday night...it was a Friday night when we made the reservations day never changed! So now a month out we are scrambling to find another restaurant to have the dinner...not to mention we ordered from them every week during the pandemic to support our local restaurants. Thank you for ruining one of the most important days of my life...and bringing on more stress that wasn't needed! I will NEVER spend another dime in this establishment!
