This place serves really good Indian food and their dosas are of the best I had in bay area. However the place kind of lack in service as the staff didn't tell us we has to order the food ahead before taking a seat. This place was actually self serve where you had to get all the utensils and water by yourself. The food took quite a while to come and one of my order was messed up. Delicious. Savory sauces and chutneys to remember. We have been mourning the loss of Suraj in RWC for years and finally we have a local place with a South Indian flair. Now the place doesn't have the much ambiance at all but they seem to put all of their emphasis on the food and customer service. The smells from the kitchen were enticing. We ordered a Masala dosa, paratha, yellow dal, a Chennai chicken 65 appetizer and the house special chicken curry (which was recommended when we asked for help choosing a final dish). When asked if we should order rice, she said she bring us some! Good customer service! The hostess brought over a carafe of chilled water to our table. The Chennai chicken 65 appetizer was gone so fast I couldn't take a picture before some pieces were eaten. Very flavorful, delicious Indian fried chicken Nirvana! Next we received two beautiful small pans filled with dal and chicken curry. The house special chicken curry was my favorite. It had chicken with bones in a significant portion of one of the most savory curry sauces. The curry was the most spicy dish we had, but it had a balanced, complex flavor with a bite of fresh ginger. I will go back just to get more of this sauce. The yellow dal was very light and delicious as a counterpoint. The Masala dosa was as solid, as expected with a beautiful visual presentation that wanted me to request they take pictures of these amazing dishes to adorn the bare walls. The masala dosa came with delicious sambar and a trio of coconut, mint and red pepper chutneys. A very good value for the money. The chutneys demonstrated some remarkable fresh flavors. No gritty-ness in the coconut chutney! The mint was balanced and light without being overpowering as sometime it can be. The paratha was different that what I have had before in that it reminded me ofsome delicious French pastry. It was crispy light and buttery and was used to mop up any of the remaining savory sauces! Food is fabulous! I had the Fish Curry. A large piece of salmon was perfectly steamed and the curry was perfect in every way. My wife has a kabob. Everything on the skewers was grilled perfectly. hole-in-the-wall, no frills type restaurant with prices as expected in menlo park, but with excellent service and solid food. came in with a solid group of 8 hungry friends at 8pm on a sunday. the one hostess/waitress (owner?) still very graciously and patiently gave us great recommendations, with all of us being novice indian food eaters. don't skip the dosa--our group ordered the chicken tikka and it was amazing! the goat dishes were tender and well flavored. my first time eating both. other dishes we shared included the chicken and goat biryanis, chicken and goat curries, as well as a couple orders of garlic naan and paratha. get the paratha! it's very similar to chinese scallion pancakes and is perfect to mop up every last bit of sauce. i'm already dreaming about which dosa i'll be trying next. tip: loop around and enter the parking lot from the side street. there's sizable shared parking lot. read more

I rarely write review. This was very bad which forced me to write a review. I was charge additional $1.00 without telling me about it. After asking they said it is because my total was under $10 and I did not pay cash. This is ridiculous. If told before I would have gone to other place, there are so many options around. I ordered cheese dosa, it was no where near to how its suppose to be. They just put mixed cheese in the dosa. I make much better than it. We tried several types of dosas and every dosa was tasty, aptly crispy. Tomoto and coconut chutneys wonderfully added to the taste. Menu choices for non-dosa items are limited. But that shouldn't stop you from visiting the place. Plenty of other choices for appetizers, dosas and uttappas. Paneer dosa and paneer uttappa were not on the menu but the lady offered to cook it. read more

The woman here is extremely rude and extremely bad customer service. On multiple occasions they made us wait longer than they promised, but if you are few minutes late than the exact pick up time, they behaved very badly. Despite their customer service, we ordered from here as it was closer from our place. But lately food quality deceased and she is being more and more mean. This place would certainly get 5 stars if the atmosphere was better, but white walls and fluorescent lights do not make for a romantic dinner. Good solid Indian food with no pretensions. So glad these guys opened up. With no good options on the peninsula, I'm glad I can get decent Indian food without driving all the way to the South Bay. The chutneys can be a little salty occasionally but happy to overlook given the general quality of the dishes. The dosas are very well made and the biriyanis are excellent. Dosa Point has incredible South Indian food! I'm so glad there's a new spot in the peninsula so I don't have to keep heading to Sunnyvale. The restaurant is located in a strip mall with a handful of tables for indoor dining. There is no outdoor seating but the restaurant also has a busy take away business. The food is freshly made and the chutneys are amazing! We enjoyed the masala dosa, onion dosa, idli sambar, and the chicken curry. The dosa is crisp and well made. I loved the soft and fluffy idling and appreciated how they had a less sour taste than other restaurants. Yum! The service was a lot better than other Indian restaurants I've been to. It was surprising they had run out of chai. But overall great food and I look forward to returning. read more

Great to finally have a good south Indian restaurant in the peninsula. Their dosas are better than the popular south Bay joints. The Madras masala Dosa and the rava dosa were perfectly cooked and the accompanying sambar and chutneys were delicious. Can't wait to go back and try other items on the menu. read more

This family owned place is trying to hire workers so they can have inside dining again. Workers are not easy to find, so it's not that they are slow. They are doing the best they can. I wonder if this woman even has heard of what customer service is .. she seems to be a uncouth ignorant rude person Despite having waited 45 minutes just for a dosa.. the woman asked us to wait in the cold outside the restaurant door though she had said the waiting time for takeout would be 20 minutes. There was no apology nothing just rudely told to wait outside the door !! When we complained how long we have had to wait and if she had told us that it would take so long we would not have placed the order she asked to never come back if we don't know how to wait .. it was unbelievable we were shocked at her behavior .. even after we sat in the car she followed us asked us to roll down the windows and started saying if u want good food u need to know how to wait .. we said we had waited 45 minutes .. she actually walked away shouting for us to go to hell!! We ordered take out from Dosa Point yesterday. The food was ready on time. The service was friendly. Our favourites were the Massala Dosa and the chicken byiriani. The garlic Nan was also good. This is truly a hidden gem for Indian food lovers. While every single thing we tried was delicious, I can't get over the goat chukka and the dahi vada. If you are in the neighborhood, you have to try this place. The partners running this place are from North and South India and that's probably why they get every dish right.
