This Hicksville Southern Indian restaurant took over the not going to be missed Rangmahal and it's a more than welcome replacement. Fantastic vegetarian lunch buffet that serves seriously delicious fare and dosas the size of a bugle. The buffet was fresh and everything was absolutely delicious and perfectly spicy. Welcoming and very friendly staff plus bargain prices make this place a knock out. The best vegetarian Indian buffet in the area in terms of quality. I was really pleased with this place. Medium size restaurant. Wayyy too plant dosa options to choose from and it was great. I tried the one with paneer curry and it was delicious. We ordered food last night, my sister ordered food and i went there to pickup. the guy was standing there said what is your order and I repeat my order, I suggested him that you should have wrote a name on each order so you can recognize each order and he said no sir we always do like this, pathetic service. i reached home and setup dinner and there was one item missing. called the same guy and he said it was my fault that i didn't repeat whole order and yelled on me. pathetic service. he blocked me when i got angry. i never seen this kind of service in hicksville before . pathetic pathetic pathetic service. he didn't even say sorry and and only covers his ass . i still didn't get my missing item and they charged me. Not in my neighborhood but wanted dosa so stopped here based on Yelp reviews. It took a while to get waited on and I thought it was because they had a very large Indian function, but the waiter said that was not the case. So, I guess they're just slow or decided to ignore the American. I thought the food was very good and the presentation was good as well. This place is filthy, before stepping in please check there health department score online, horrible. I don't even get it why they can't even keep place clean. The owner is rude & mannerless who doesn't know how to speak & treat customers right. I have eaten at almost all the indian restaurants in the area and I have to say that Dosa World has by far the best vegetarian Indian food !!! What makes this restaurant a find is that they have an inovative chef who creates dosa stuffing that are different then any of the other dosa restaurants which serve only potato stuffing. At Dosa world we had a fabulous califlowr stuffed dosa. You have to try the black chickpea curry, the sag paneer and yellow dahl all of which are incredibly well prepared. I came here with one of my Indian friends and even he was raving about it. The lunch buffet is only $8.75, so I was a little worried about the quality of the food, but it really was excellent. Besides the 5 or 6 dishes you get with the buffet, they also bring out dosa and iddali. You can pick from about 10 different dosa depending on the filling and amount of spice you prefer. To be honest I was skeptical about coming here when they first opened because there are a few Dosa restaurants in the neighborhood that are good. This is the best dosa place in Long Island for the whole family to go. Kids' will get their favorite chocolate masala dosas which we won't find anywhere else. And we can enjoy the amazing lunch buffet or a wonderful dinner, all at a nice price. Buffet, i must say, is awesome, which also includes hot masala dosa upon request. Six of us went tonight and we all ordered different things and tried everything on the table. The dosas were fantastic and so was the channa masala, the soups, and the breads. The poori was outstanding, as were the pakoras and the gobi manchurian, which is a cauliflower appetizer, seasoned and glazed. For dessert we had khir, badam halwa, and the chocolate dosa. All amazing. The coffee was exceptional, and the masala tea was delicious. The waiters were very attentive, and the owner was as well. I've been craving a dosa lately, so I decided to satisfy the craving by stopping here. I got the mushroom masala dosa, which also includes and, unbeknownst to me, red chili peppers. It was tasty, but a few degrees spicier than other dosas that I've had, so my mouth was expectedly on fire. However, the raita and onion paratha were pretty good. This review isn't about the food, though it is delicious, but the other reviews on Yelp attest to that. I'm giving Dosa World 5 stars for their service. While we were there, my 2 year old daughter accidentally ate something spicy off my plate. She had a freak out when the heat hit her mouth. Instead of giving us grief, the wait staff gave us a mango lassi and then milk with patience and understanding. When we got the bill, they had not charged us for them. We felt bad she had caused a seen but were overwhelmed with their empathy and help. We will definitely be back, but will make sure the baby sticks to her kids meal. read more

One of my favorite Indian places in Hicksville! Before COVID they had an amazing lunch special that included a buffet, Chai, and a Dosa all for around $8-$9! I usually go to another long standing dosa spot in the same area, but decided to give this place a shot. First, I asked if he could add something to the dish ( extra charge would have been ok) but my server said no. Nothing else. Just a no. So customer service, eh not really feeling it. The food was fine, needed more salt and masala on my onion dosa. Also during my visit, there was a loud mad having a business meeting on his cellphone cursing up a storm however none of the workers asked him to quiet down.
