The service is not too great. They are busy on a Friday night so their attentive level is not high. We rang the bell at least five times to finally have someone come. If you order something, make sure you understand and know what it is because manager will not allow you to give it back and reorder. I ordered a Yummy Yummy and in parentheses it said 10 pieces. I asked waitress if it's sushi, she said yes, turns out it's a roll. So be sure to ask before you order and make same mistake as me. The sushi is ok but I prefer Haru Ichiban down the street better. The beef teriyaki is not anything to rave about either. Their sushi lunch menu is pretty affordable if you're looking for a great deal during lunch time. Went with a high expectations after reading the reviews. Was really disappointed with the food. The service was excellent but just could not compensate for the below average appetizers or the amateurish sushi. The restaurant labels itself 'Japanese' restaurant but just could not deliver on two appetizers I tried. Wrong presentation and the dish sauces were completely off the mark. Fish for sushi was cut by someone who was not a sushi chef. They were cut with the grain rather than across. Un-edible garnishes just for presentation were found in both the appetizers and the chirashi-don dish, The restaurant was trying hard but the skill set wasn't there. read more

Ordered more sushi since it was the highlight from the last visit. Decided to try the summer flounder, more hand rolls (salmon and California), and the salmon Nigiri. Before talking about the food, I have to say that the owner and everyone here is very nice and attentive. Since we ordered the summer flounder, they were concerned and came by to let us know that it comes with abalone and sea squirt, which is an acquired taste. We said it was fine and we will give it a try. The summer flounder is a very mild fish, but it's very tough compared to salmon or other fish. The sea squirt tastes like raw roe and guts - giving you a burst of seafood flavors followed by a mineral aftertaste the more you chew. The first initial chews were fine, but it was rough after chewing on it for a while. They recommended to dip it into the chili sauce but it doesn't really help if you're chewing it for a while. The texture is very smooth and nice but definitely an acquired taste. The best part was the abalone, surprisingly. It was crunchy! Very interesting texture. I understood that it was going to be experimental and it was still a nice experience. The hand rolls were a let down this time for some reason. It wasn't as good as how I had remembered it. I love salmon in general, but I didn't really enjoy the salmon Nigiri as the cut was a bit tough secondary to how it was cut or simply the cut itself. Overall, the meal was okay but I really have to say that they had really good customer service. We did order udon but they forgot about it and we were super full by the end - so we are glad that it never came out. We will definitely come back again to try other dishes. read more

Nice restaurant. It took them a while to recognize my presence after walking in the door. That doesn't bother me too much for a mid level restaurant at lunch time - but a bit uncomfortable as it was my first time and they were all speaking a language I don't understand. Lunch combo came with some side dishes that weren't mentioned on the menu. For me that included radishes, pickles cucumber, kimchi and sweetened peanuts. All were very good. (Peanuts the best.) At the end of the meal I was given nutmeg cinnamon tea with pine nut in it. Sushi was pretty good. Udon was definitely the worst part of the meal. read more

They gave different portion every single time. We ordered a lot from this place. The sushi combo supposed to come with Udon but they stop giving it. And the grill ell portion becomes so little comparing to before. It's literally 3 times less than what we got before. This place was amazing! The fish were super fresh, the chefs were super sweet, and the overall experience was fantastic! Price was just right and everything was great. A unique Korean/Japanese fusion restaurant. I got the lunch combo which came with a plate of sushi/sashimi and a bowl of udon, along with traditional Korean side dishes. Overall not bad, but I did feel it was a bit pricey for the amount of food offered. And nothing really stood out as exceptional. Sweeeeet baby Jesus! My family came from New Orleans and were looking around for some lobster shashimi and by chance landed at this holy grail. I love raw fish and exotic sushi and this place takes the cake! When we sat down, we were immediately greeted by the owner Kenny with fish recomendations so we couldnt resist. We ended up ordering live octopus, fresh blue fin, big eye tuna, Toro, geoduck, abalone, and lobster shashimi!! We enjoyed every second of stepping into this place!! Great little find in Duluth! Sushi was fresh and delicious (I had the 2 roll lunch special, shrimp tempura roll, spicy tuna roll, and it comes with miso and salad for $12). I was in Atlanta visiting family and stumbled upon this new sushi place that has taken over many previous Japanese restaurant which existed at this location and failed. I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of sushi and the flavor of their Korean food as usually, those places that do Korean are just okay for sushi and vice versa. The toasted gingko nuts were very tasty, the fried fish was crispy and delicious, the kimchee was actually very good and the sushi melted in my mouth, and the price was reasonable. I went to Doshi Sushi Saturday and the staff was very nice and cordial. I ordered the regular sushi dinner with shrimp tempura with green tea and it was very nice and fresh. I came here with my family after my sister raved about how good it was when she had come with her friends. We got here around lunchtime and it was fairly busy but we got seated right away. Our server was really nice and attentive and was always checking on our table. We got the lunch special for 4 which came out to be about $130 or so with tax and tip. I can't even remember everything it came with anymore since there was so much but from what I remember, there was soup and salad, a platter of sashimi and nigiri, some rolls, tempura, a piece of grilled mackerel, rice with fish roe on it, spicy squid, and a fish soup. I think if you are 4 big eaters, then this would be a great deal for y'all but for my family, this was WAY more than we could finish. The raw sashimi and nigiri was good but the mackerel didn't taste very fresh and everything else was just okay. I think just having too much of everything made nothing stand out (which was definitely an ordering mishap on our part) but we probably won't be back here anytime soon. read more

My husband and I want to share our experience and hope the restaurant will make some improvement about the freshness of appetizers. It was our first time there. This restaurant has four and a half stars on Yelp. 90% of the reviews are very positive. We decided to check out this place. We walked in at around 6pm on Saturday night. We were greeted and seated by Kenny (we assumed he is the owner ) very friendly and attentive. Right after we ordered our food, we were presented with complimentary appetizers. It consisted of little plates of raw fish. The food we ordered was hamachi kama, mixed tempura, and sushi and sashimi combo. We enjoyed the food and service there very much. We told Kenny we will come back again. Few hours after we were home, my husband ran to the bathroom twice. We both had stomachache and the feeling of vomiting. I didn't sleep well because of the stomach pain. All the symptoms we had pointed to food poisoning. We didn't think it was the sashimi we ordered, however we think it was the complimentary appetizers they served. We really hope that the restaurant can improve the freshness and quality of the food especially uncooked fish. read more

The wait staff is delightful and the sushi chef at your location ... introduces himself! (Umpty-ump years of dining at sushi places and I've never had a volunteered introduction!) After ordering a roll, some sashimi and nigiri, they show up with Kimchi, edamame, miso, and a sesame appetizer. Whaaaat?! The sashimi was delicate, the roll was loosely wrapped - which I like - and quite delightful, and even though they didn't have mochi, they had a cold cinnamon tea with a pine nut(!) that was quite elegant.
