I can happily say this is probably the best experience I have ever had in a Korean Sushi restaraunt in all of Duluth, and probably in the top of all sushi establishments in Atlanta. I ordered the Sushi/Sashimi Special Combo. Here is what came out with all of them. Please note in classic Korean restaraunt fashion, they give many side dishes and stuff that's not on the menu as part of your meal. They came out with a Salmon Carpaccio first, which was a delicious appetizer with a subtle but tangy and sweet dish. The cherry tomatoes also added a nice flavor to the fish, along with these wrapped radishes and crab meat that really have a subtle spice but also a mellow crunch to them. Essentially a perfect appetizer overall. Then came out a platter of sushi and sashimi, with Yellowfin, Tuna, Salmon, Eel, Abalone, and an exquisite white fish that I couldnt identify. It was delicious and the fish was cut well and the texture was so immaculate. They were well balanced with a tiny dollop of wasabi on top. Some of the sushi had surprises like a single mint leaf inside the Yellowfin Nigiri. The Spider Roll was also delicious. Additionally, there were some sides that came out with it. The classic cheesey grilled corn has a nice sweetness. The egg dish was fluffy and melted in my mouth. Afterwards, they came out with Al-Bap or Rice with Fish Roe and a Spicy Fish Soup with Sujebi, which are essentially a rice cake. It was spicey and an excellent finish. Be warned, because while I'm attuned to spicy food, this soup was also a little too spicy for my tastes. The atmosphere of the restaraunt is also classy but flashy. It has a high ceiling with a modernesque decor that really makes you feel like you are in a fine dining restaraunt, without breaking the bank for it. The only one negative might be their slightly confusing looking menu, but I'm nitpicking at this point. Highly recommend! read more

I highly recommend this establishment. The food is amazing and the service, impeccable. We arrived around 6pm Monday evening and was the first table. By the time we left, more than half the restaurant was occupied. The servers were attentive and the food arrived quickly. The man whom I presume is the owner was bussing tables and checking on guests as well. We ordered the yellowtail carpaccio ($12) as the app, the Deluxe sushi/sashimi combo ($53), a Lobster Roll ($17), a Black Dragon Roll ($18), and a seafood udon ($13). Our meal started with a serving of steamed egg (think savory flan) for each diner followed by a few banchan dishes. The steamed egg was perfectly seasoned and extremely smooth. All the banchan were well flavored. With the Deluxe sushi/sashimi combo, we received a small serving of the tuna carpaccio and cheese corn. Spicy fish soup and roe rice was brought out towards the end of the meal. The sushi/sashimi combo was delicious - hearty slices of sashimi and the nigiri was not heavy on the rice. The fish was fresh and delicious. Both Rolls we ordered were also delicious. The udon came out piping hot. The broth was flavorful without being overwhelming. I placed an order of two mulhwae, sashimi with cold broth, to be picked up. I was told the food will be ready in thirty min as they prep the live fish per order and assured that there'd be plenty of fish. An elderly man greeted me inside the restaurant with mask in his hands and after I paid, he proceeded to talk to other guests who were also without masks. I didn't see him sanitize his hands during this process. The food wasn't ready in said time so had to wait extra time inside. The waiting area had people in such close proximity I was uncomfortable waiting around people without masks. The each dish costed me $30 plus tip. The greens in the bowl and banchan I enjoyed very much but I would've liked to see more fish for the price. I would possibly return to order a different food item after pandemic is over. read more

Had a sushi craving and decided to give this place a try based on their good reviews and I'm so glad I did! They had many sushi varieties to choose from at a reasonable price. Having been to Japan 3 times so far in my lifetime, this place holds the tradition true of culture. When seated, we got a menu to fill out for our order. Afterwards, they brought it on one plate as my boyfriend and I were getting a late lunch. They also brought out salad for each of us and soup. I don't write too many reviews these days but I wanted to write this high recommendation for this stellar sushi restaurant Doshi Sushi. Came here with my wife on Valentine's day and must say, wow! What a fabulous meal all the way around. The value of the sushi sashimi combo we ordered was very impressive to say the least. We were ready to order an appetizer but the waitress informed us the deluxe combo we ordered came with appetizers and was a complete meal so we just went with it. The appetizer spread was impressive and had a ton of variety and flavors. It came with zaru soba, fish dish, mussels, cheese corn, and an assortment of other tasty appetizers. I appreciated the fact that the appetizers came with enough so that the two of us could enjoy each dish and tantalizing flavor. The main course had an assortment of quality sashimi and nigiri. We sat at the bar since it was Valentine's day and we didn't have a reservation. The sushi chef was friendly and even hooked us up with a few "service" complimentary dishes including jelly fish and tuna belly. To finish off our meal we were treated to a tasty bowl of spicy stew aka mehwoontang. Nice! And to top it all off we were treated to a refreshing and tasty cup of sweet rice punch aka shikkae. In my never ending quest for amazing food I have stumbled across Doshi. First impressions are amazing. The restaurant is set up with multiple seating options with varying levels of privacy. The smell of high quality sushi hits you when you walk in the door and is very refreshing. Everything looks much nicer and more thoughtful than most sushi bars in similar locations. The staff was quite impressive. I came after work(construction) and was met with deep felt respect and courtesy. I had conversations about the high quality ingredients and condiments they serve, including a traditional fermented low sodium soy sauce that even I am going to try even though I don't eat soy of any kind. After three visits, I am pleased to give Doshi a solid five stars. Moving to Alpharetta GA from Orange County CA last fall, we have struggled to find good sushi. Doshi is our favorite so far. They seem to be firing on all cylinders. In addition to the sushi being the best we've found so far, we love that the owner greets you and opens the door, and quickly gets you to a table. This experience alone sets them apart. That type of service is so hard to find anymore. Our service has always been very kind and attentive. Doshi is a Korean owned sushi restaurant in the Duluth area. It is one of many locally owned Korean sushi restaurants, like Kang Nam and Kang Buk which offer a mix of Japanese and Korean food. Korean sushi is sourced a bit differently than Japanese (like off of farms off the coast of Mexico), but the quality for Doshi is definitely on par with a lot of more mid-level Japanese restaurants in Atlanta. Sushi and food wise it's been a go-to for my family. My 2 year old is a very picky eater, and we often get the udon noodles there which he likes a lot. The sushi is also fresh, personally I like the simple rolls or sashimi when the fish tastes fresh, and this is one place where you can order it and feel you're eating good sushi. You also get several side dishes which range from Kimchi to green beans to anchovies. The price is reasonable for the area, its usually $20-30 for lunch for 2 people (more if you order the sashimi platter). I've been here at least once or twice every month on weekends, simply because its consistent, the price is good, and most importantly, has something my 2 year old will eat without fuss. read more

Sushi & sashimi were fresh/tasty, tempura was flavorful/crispy/light, squid stir-fry was perfectly cooked/flavorful, the seafood fish-roe stew was amazing, very good variety of side dishes ... so why one star? Words cannot describe how bad the service was but you can imagine how bad it must've been to counterbalance against the great food for this review (and I have admittedly low standards) to go all the way down to one star overall (zero is not possible.) Had a group for a special occasion and was met (not greeted) by the surly manager who must've just crawled out of bed with a hangover. No "welcome" or "hello"; just walked us to the private room in a huff. Waitresses too lazy to serve the plates, instead insisting on handing them to the people seated at the front of the table to "pass down" (not even a "please?"); handing dishes out like she's dumping manure in a garden. Had to ask twice and wait forever for refills which came with an annoyed frown. Never offered water; had to ask for it which came out only when more dishes did and with the same grumpy attitude. Had to go out to get more napkins and the manager hands over a roll (the kind for a dispenser) and counts off "four enough" as one of us tore them off the roll. When asked to clear the table, waitress said, "pass over" instead of picking up the plates off the long table. Pointed to some leftover dishes to take home but instead of picking up the plates, she says nothing, leaves, and comes out with two containers for us to pack it up impressively maintaining that grumpy attitude. Throughout the service, never a single smile, "enjoy your meal", no "how is everything?", no "congratulations" or acknowledgement for the celebration, not even a "thank you for coming" as we left. This place has been shutdown and reopened so many times, I hope the next replacement will be at least mediocre with service. Takeout is the best option for a great food/lousy service place like this, but the prices are too high for that. I shudder to think how they would pack it up anyway. Bottomline: never again even if someone else is paying; too many good food/reasonably priced/ok-service places to justify returning. read more

Decided to stop here for lunch one day while running errands. Turns out, it was a great idea! First of all, the place is beautiful inside. Very modern and chic and spacious. I loved the decor. I got the lunch special, which is served from 11:30 to 2:30. You get miso soup, salad, and your choice of two rolls from a list for $10. I elected the California roll and the shrimp tempura roll (fearless sushi queen, I am not!). The rolls were good with freshness I could taste. The meal was served with banchan that was delightful. There were peanuts, bean sprouts, and fish; all three made me happy with their diverse flavors. The service was great as well. Everyone was kind and attentive. After my meal I was presented with dessert, as my server called it. It was a delicious ginger, lemon, and cinnamon tea. A marvelous ending to a fantastic meal. Doshi is not a quality place to eat. Behind the Sushi bar 2 of the 5 workers had gloves. 2 worker was going from order to order not washing hands. Sushi is raw and uncooked and should be handled with care. The staff is unaware of the menu items. I asked for the Tuna Lover Roll and specifically asked if it had ground Tuna in it and the server said no. Of course it was ground Tuna in the roll. Not a great experience overall. The manager or owner did not like that I pointed out that the cook staff was preparing sushi with no gloves on. I will never come back here again. read more

This was an accidental find but I'm glad we found it. The fish is super fresh here. We ordered a couple of rolls and a few nigiri pieces and they were delicious. The food was decent but doesn't compare to Sam's Sushi, which I think is so far the best Korean Japanese restaurant in Atlanta. We got the $75 special sashimi combo, which is enough for 4 people. The presentation was meh. It came on a huge white platter with the rolls placed on sparsely placed leaves and the sashimi on radish. The sashimi variety was weak. Sam's has white tuna and a couple of other pieces but Doshi is just the usual salmon, tuna, and some other pieces. You also get more dishes with the sashimi set at Sam's. Doshi was disappointing. The fish was fresh though. The Hwae Dup Bap ($16) was pretty decent. The Unagi Don ($18) comes with some small pieces of grilled eel with some garnishes. The space is large and clean. There's tons of seating not including the large bar in the middle. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful throughout our time. The waitress made an error when placing the error, which is totally understandable. It began getting uncomfortable when she explained the situation. She apologized and said she would pay out of pocket. That's an uncomfortable thing to say to the customer. Then the owner arrives and asks if we should be charged for the difference in the error. That's even more uncomfortable. Eventually, he said he would not charge the difference of the error but that should have been said from the beginning. This experience coupled with a non-comparable dining experience makes this place just okay. read more

I hadn't had good hwae dup bap in so long, and had a serious craving. This place did it right! I got the salmon, and the bowl that arrived was large enough to share with my husband, and we also got three rolls. Our bill was about $48, which we thought seemed pretty inexpensive for how much food we ordered and how satisfied we were. They ended the meal with that yummy Korean cinnamon-persimmon drink. It was during lunch and we only ordered sushi. It wasn't that busy at the restaurant either. We bought our little one with us. She's one. She was hungry and just wasn't having it too much. They offered to move us because she was crying. Didn't appreciate that too much. Felt out of place. And I've been to plenty of sushi restaurants with my little one and this has never happened. Had to stop by Doshi Sushi December 12, 2019. When I saw the online menu I was blown away because I LOVE SUSHI and always looking for new and exciting dishes. I had the Chirashi bowl and for appetizer I had Fried Soft Shell Crab. Timing is everything and I suppose the deep fat fryer might not have been changed the day I visited...soft shell crab tasted a bit off and I think something should have accompanied the appetizer to help with its flavor other than the sauce garnish. The Chirashi bowl was different from Traditional Japanese Chirashi Bowl vs Korean ideas...garnished with what looked like cut pickled carrot is not and a pickled radish that could be named something else neither was over powering I enjoyed it was very different from a Japanese dish I'm more used too. I was surprised with the side dishes that came with the Chirashi bowl, three small dishes of Burdock Root, Purple Mash Potato, and Seasoned Spinach, and you also get your bowl of miso soup and small salad. I loved the Burdock and Spinach those flavors blew me away. I visited at a slow time, raining outside Thanksgiving had passed and it was about 4:00pm. Really appreciated the Owner coming over and talking to me about the History of his menu ideas and because I am adventurous I should try "Chu Toro (medium Fatty Tuna) and another very fatty Tuna. Very interesting conversation leading up to the Freshest imported variety of many exotic foods delivered twice or more a week, very exciting for me and I was awe struck...
