Came to visit Dosirak for the first time with my husband to try out their quick Korean food options. The restaurant is located in a plaza with many other stores and restaurants including the Albertsons grocery store. It's clean and looks fairly new. There was no wait and few people in the restaurant on a Saturday night. One of the things we wanted to try was their gimbap but it was already sold out by the time we came at dinner. The place is located in a strip mall next to an Albertsons supermarket. I was recommending this place by a Korean woman that I met at Picklball court. I drove a bit of a distance just to be able to eat here because I felt that she was very enthusiast and recommending the place. This place is an express which means everything is to go. Right outside the restaurant you find a communal eating area that is very clean. The soup of the day is a broth with egg, green onions and potato. It is very tasty. Decided to give this place a try as it opened not long ago to use my bike from home nearby vs driving further to contribute my part to our earth. To start the Korean signature dish, Bibimbap, was not available. But I could put all the parts together to create one by ordering a la carte from other options on the menu, but of course for a lot more $ than the Bibimbap. Hmm, I wonder. The young man is definitely authentic Korean. His accent was heavy & doubly difficult to understand behind his mask. Asked if he knew of CA Gogi at UCI Center & he claims not, although Dosirak has its main store nearby. Told him that CA Gogi makes theirs in the kitchen in front of you, but has it already to serve immediately. While this place makes the dish only after the order is paid for, it is made by a short order Mexican cook and you can't taste the difference. I'm guessing they do this more to save $ from making too much & would rather make the customer wait. Guess what, I come here for my convenience, not to waste my time waiting. And there is no place to sit down inside to eat, unlike CA Gogi, only outdoors. Ordered the beef bulgogi, which does not come in a spicy version, unlike CA Gogi, as one can only get spicy versions with chicken or pork here. There is not a choice to have more than one type of meat, unlike CA Gogi. The sides that come with the meal are pre-selected, unlike CA Gogi, where you can select your own sides. The biggest portion of the plate is white rice, with a very small side of the noodles, unlike CA Gogi where you can choose no rice or mixed & still get a lot more noodles. If you want Korean fast casual, skip this place and go a few minutes down the road to Ca Gogi at UCI Center. I was pleasantly surprised with the portion size which was enough to split with someone else. But wait...
