This is an excellent place for dinner. My boyfriend and I have stopped here numerous times for dinner and have always been full and happy at the end of our meals. Their French onion soup is delicious. Dessert is always good. A solid 5 stars for dinner. We recently were traveling through Wilmington on a Saturday morning and excitedly I suggested we go to Dot's for breakfast. Unfortunately, we were less than satisfied with our visit. I ordered a spinach and portobello eggs Benedict with home-fries. I requested my homefries to be extra crispy; they were not, they were the same soft blah potato chunks that everyone else got. Thanks for the lack of attention into detail. My boyfriend ordered a breakfast wrap with home fries. His wrap was tasty. He had half as many homefries as I did, and my portion was pretty average size, definitely a leaner amount than I'm used to at similar diners. I must say the waitress did fill my water glass immediately when she saw it was less than half full. Thank you! The final turn off was the price. Our bill came to $26.95 plus tip for one and a half meals plus coffee for boyfriend. Over 30 bucks for breakfast for two at a diner, seriously?!?! Meh... So lesson learned. We'll keep Dot's in mind for dinner, but look elsewhere for breakfast options. read more

We wanted to stop for lunch one day but it was packed so we went the next day for breakfast. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We both had omelettes and home fries. Food was fresh and a good portion. My boyfriend had a side of corned beef hash which was not good at all. Very fatty and had to spit out most bites because you couldn't chew it. Wowie wow zow! This place rocks! On the outside it's got a neat neon sign which is enticing, the building looks colonial so I thought this was going to be a white linen napkin kind of place so we held of going until we were leaving Vermont but boy am I glad we did-- it's a fantastic diner and as someone who loves diners because the food is always good Dot's fits the bill nicely! We sat at the counter and the seemingly single waitress was extremely busy, but she was attentive and although our food was slow to come out it was ABSOLUTELY worth the wait-- five stars. Absolutely fresh home-made type ingredients, no opening a can type of food here, this was fresh and delicious! But make sure you stay seated less time than you waited to get in - because you'll hear the staff talking about how you stayed too long, even if you buy two rounds of food and tip 25%. We got amazing service from the very start, as soon as we stepped inside. It is my first ever visit to the charming town of Wilmington, BY. I ordered the biggest possible breakfast they had, which was a couple delicious pancakes, eggs bacon and their cracked wheat bread which this is totally amazing. I definitely recommend this place. You don't really come across great diners anymore so I'm glad we found Dot's here in VA. My friends and I were looking dinner and we happened across this homey little diner and decided to check it out. Super glad we did. The diner itself is very modern and you'll get the feeling of being in someones home and the owner adds to that feeling as they welcome you in with open arms. The restaurant is ran by great folks and the service is stellar. They have your basic diner eats and the typical diner menu offering a variety of eats such as sandwiches, burgers, wraps, meat loaf, steak, etc. I went for the pastrami on rye and the Famous Award Winning Chili. The pastrami on rye was huge and it packed great flavor. It didn't taste like they just threw meat on rye and served it, they really made it well. Hot pastrami, toasted rye with melted swiss, a fresh dill pickle, and some kettle chips. perfect. The chili was also good. Its very thick and very HOT! ask for the sour cream! The flavor was great and its the kind of heat that gets you addicted. Came by with a large party during a weekend at mt snow. They split us into 3 groups, no problem but the guy who sat us down was pretty rude. No matter, the food made up for it. My Cajun scramble was tasty but the potatoes lacked some flavor. The main redeeming dishes were the cinnamon rolls and berry pancakes we ordered for the table, they were absolutely delicious. I look forward to going to Wilmington just for my breakfast/brunch at Dot's...that's usually how I plan my day. Depending on when I get there, they can be packed or I sit at the counter (if I get there really early). The employees provide exceptional customer service no matter what the crowd is like...they always have a smile on their face and hustle like crazy. The homemade bread, the onion soup, and the eggs are awesome...that just names a few things on the menu that rock! Everyone is thrilled that Dot's is back open, but if you're not familiar with the Mount Snow area, don't expect Dot's to wow you. I was told I must order the berry pancakes, they're famous for it, don't you know? The pancake was pretty good, but I didn't see what the hoopla was about. I may be from New Jersey, but I'm not a diner gal. If you have too much variety, there is nothing specifically great. I think Dot's made my point pretty strongly.... I ordered 2 poached eggs, and one came out already broken and swimming in pan water. My Sausage was a wee bit overcooked, but still tasted better than my potato wedges they tried to pass off as hash browns. I will give them props for the homemade cracked wheat bread which was perfectly toasted and buttered just to my liking. If I had to do it again, I'd ask my friends to stop over hyping Dot's. It's a diner where you get bottomless coffee, but have to wait 30 minutes to be served. read more

The BLT with avocado on a full grain toast was delicious. The turkey dinner entrée was fantastic. It had real mashed potatoes and delicious stuffing and both dark and white meat roasted turkey and cranberry sauce and pickled beets. The up charge for sweet potato fries on the BLT was $1.50. So my friends came to wilmington for a 4 day ski trip. We knew we didnt want to spend a lot of money, and we knew we wanted to eat where the locals ate. To summarize, Dots fulfills all that and more. Over 2 visits we tried the meatloaf blue plate special, the pastrami, the fish and chips, their award winning chilli, homemade bread, the cinnamon roll, a chocolate sundae, and a pumpkin pie. To be honest,. in my opinion the main courses are a lot better than the desserts. If you come here, you absolutely absolutely MUST MUS MUST get the chili. I cannot emphasize that enough. you might blow off all the reviews praising the chili, but you would be missing out. its thick, flavorful, and definitely has a kick to it. there is plenty of meat and beans in it. dont skimp and get the cup, pay a dollar more and get the bowl. you wont regret it. And while youre at it, get a serving of their homemade cracked wheat bread with sunflower seeds in it to dip in the chilli, or eat by itself. To be honest, i was surprised at the tastiness of the homemade bread. I was just looking for some bread to dip in the chilli and boy was I happy i ordered the homemade bread. The bread itself is so soft and fluffy, almost like biting into a cloud of healthy goodness. and the sunflower seeds add a nice contrasting texture to it. Definitely the best chili and wheat bread i have ever had. The meafloaf was juicy, flavorful, and actually had some structure to it. it came with buttery and slightly chunky (though not as chunky as i liked) mashed potatoes, and sauteed veges. A great deal for just 8.50. The pastrami sandwhich was 7.50.it came with either chips or fries (get the fries, you wont regret it). though definitely not a match for the pastrami at say... katz's deli in nyc, its definitely good and had a great flavor to it. the portion size was pretty decent and combined with the thick cut fries was definitely a filling portion. I thought the desserts were all a bit too sweet, and in the case of the cinnamon roll, a bit too oily. Ohh and a bit of advice about the service. It looks like they only have one waitress at once, so be patient and dont complain about the slowness of the service. when the food comes, all will be worthwhile. read more

Super cute place. It's super charming. Gets extra points for a self-serve coffee station outside while you wait to be seated. Came with a group for brunch. Two people ordered the New England clam chowder to come before their eggs. When it arrived it was so yummy that almost everyone else ordered a cup of it as well. Wonderful small little diner. Came here for a late breakfast after a weekend away on the mountain. I got some chocolate chip pancakes with some sweet local syrup. When they initially brought out my stack, I noticed there was no butter (yes, I use syrup AND butter, and yes, I put them both on chocolate chip pancakes. Deal with it) but after one bite it was clear why no butter was needed. The pancakes literally melted in my mouth. Tipped off with some fresh coffee, I didn't mind the 4 hour ride back home. 5 of us stopped here for lunch on our summer motorcycle trip at the end of August. The place looked great inside, rebuilt after a flood, the staff was very friendly and personable. I ordered a Rueben, some ordered burgers, some pancakes. It was all good. We stayed and talked with the owner and enjoyed the small town friendly feeling. If I ever get out this way again, I'll definitely stop by. I guess the only downside was parking. Not Dot's fault, not much real estate at that intersection. read more
