Lined up at 4:15pm on a Saturday and were among the first batch to get seated! Seating was a bit tight but enough to get the job done. Cool seating theme, different menu for the coop and the front. Enjoyed every single sip I had. My favorite drinks (in order) were custard bun/key lime pie, cold pizza/japanese cold noodle, red eye gravy/french toast. 2 drinks got me feeling extra good, drinks are stronger than they seem. - Chicken sandwich: massive and good! Great flavor and texture - Popcorn chicken was alright, probably wouldn't get this again in the future. $4 extra for a side sauce. We asked the server what sauce he recommends, he said "I don't like sauce". Should have listened to him though, chicken was salty enough on its own.
Our favorite bar in the U.S.! We come every single time we come to New York and plan to continue doing so. The food, drinks, vibes, and ambiance are always 10/10. For drinks, we previously tried key lime pie, Japanese cold noodle, cold pizza, dorayaki. This time, we opted for the mocktail version of key lime pie, Thai curry, and custard bun. The mocktail version of key lime pie was good, but there was a little hint of cinnamon? Still our fave. Thai curry was definitely interesting to try...! We really enjoyed the custard bun which definitely tasted exactly as expected. Salted egg yolk flavor was on point and not gritty. For food, we got a hot honey chicken sandwich, and a tofu sandwich. Both sandwiches had immaculate flavor and are a must-order for us every time. The chicken was not dry at all and the tofu was seasoned perfectly. Our server was very nice and friendly. Overall experience was great. Can't wait to be back!
Got in line at 4:45pm on a Tuesday, 15min before opening and there was ~8 people in front of me. It's not thaaaat hard to get in. If you have the choice to, go to the Coop in the back. The bar vibe is fantastic. Decor is interesting. When we left at ~6:15 there were only 2 people outside waiting so still doable. The drinks are definitely the star. We got the Japanese cold noodles and melon prosciutto. THOUGH I swear the Japanese Cold Noodles drink messed up my taste buds because the chicken sandwich tastes bland which I know it wasn't because I had leftovers later. So something to think about. If you're debating between the chicken sandwiches, I think the mochi one is the best because of the flavor profile, especially with the pickled pineapple. Took off a star bc I think all the buzz overhyped it for me. But still solid. Enjoy!
Double Chicken Please was highly recommended by friends (and the Internet), and it definitely didn't disappoint. If you love a unique and eccentric themed cocktail, this place is for you. There are two separate sections that make up Double Chicken Please. "Free Range" is the one located in the front, and has a more casual vibe and straightforward drink menu, while "The Coop" is located the back, and has a more whimsical, culinary-themed drink menu. My boyfriend and I tried both sections on different nights, and we agree that the offerings of The Coop were more to our taste. During our experience at The Coop, the service was quick, attentive, and friendly. We ordered the Melon Prosciutto and the Custard Bun cocktails. I'm not sure how they did it, but both drinks captured the essence of their namesakes exactly. Even the lingering aftertaste of the Custard Bun was reminiscent of the lactic aftertaste one would normally experience after eating an actual custard bun. The drinks were fun and inventive, and we enjoyed both so much to the point that we contemplated ordering another round of cocktails just to see what else they could come up with. (We ended up refraining, but we definitely have some on our list to try next time). We didn't enjoy our experience as much at the Free Range section, as it was a little difficult to get the attention of the servers so that we could order. I believe that's attributable to the nature of the Free Range section in general -- it's supposed to be more casual and pub-like, and it was pretty busy on the night we went. We ordered the Double Bubble and Space Dog cocktails, and while they were fun (the Double Bubble in particular; it was made to look like a glass of boba milk tea), the flavors weren't as on-the-mark as the drinks at The Coop were. The food menu was the same for both Free Range and The Coop. We ordered the lobster shiso tempura and the popcorn chicken. The lobster shiso tempura was so flavorful, especially when dipped into the accompanying ponzu butter -- so sweet in the way that great seafood is, with a little acidity from the ponzu to even out the richness of the butter. This was so good that we ordered it both nights. The popcorn chicken was also very good and was served in a red and white striped cardboard container, reminiscent of old-timey movie popcorn packaging. We loved the Thai basil aioli it was served with -- I don't think either of us have ever experienced that flavor in that format before, so it was quite memorable. We definitely recommend cocktail connoisseurs and novices alike to check out Double Chicken Please -- there's something for everyone.
The drinks here are amazing and so creative! I've been wanting to come here for a while and I've heard only good things. I ordered the key lime pie drink which was delicious. It was made so well and probably one of the best cocktails I've had. Other drink items are unique and based on different foods. I've heard cold pizza is another favorite that I didn't get to try. We also got the popcorn chicken and mochi donut chicken sandwich. The popcorn chicken was good and a light snack option to share with our group of 6. The mochi donut sandwich was an interesting pairing but it worked well. The donut itself was very soft. Overall it was a fun experience!
Very cool experience and i'd like to think our party enjoyed vibes. Got reservations in advance, which made seating a party of 5 a bit more manageable. The drinks are certainly unique and will throw you in a loop if you're use to overly sweetened drinks. From pizza to fish sauce, it would be hard to replicate this elsewhere. The food was also a standout. We tried two chicken sandwiches and enjoyed the normal one the most. While the strawberry mochi donut was a extravagant idea and tasted fine, it might've been too unique for our palate. Overall, would recommend folks to get a reservation and try their unique items. They have regular cocktails that you often see at other places, but you can literally get those there, but you won't find mango sticky rice or fish sauce cocktail in most, or if any.
DCP was such a fun experience! We had a reservation for 2 at 9:30pm, but after checking in with the hostess around 5pm, they were incredibly accommodating and helped us add 5 more people to our party. The menu has such unique and savory cocktails, and the food was delicious and hearty. The cold pizza was my favorite--light, tomatoey, and refreshing. The mango sticky rice was the one miss for me; the mango and coconut rice flavors didn't quite come through. A great spot for creative food and drinks with a group!
This place is pretty popular. Reservation is in-person and it can get packed. I would arrive 15-30 mins prior to opening to either set a reservation for a party or walk in. Reservations will typically take 2hrs to be honored. We placed the reservation a little after 5PM and were seated at 7PM. Pretty cool when you enter. There's a front and a back that have different menus. We sat in back (the coop). Cocktail bar themed. Dimly lit, gentle hum of conversation drowned out by chill background music, clean-appearing, esoteric chicken art line the walls. Accents of neon and wood, no off smells. My argument is that the primary reason to come here is for the drinks. We started off with the Whaldorf salad, cold pizza, key lime pie, and papaya salad. Whaldorf salad was herbal with strong notes of vegetable. Almost like one of those power smoothies. It tasted very clean. It wasn't quite as aesthetic as the other drinks as it is more true to a traditional cocktail aesthetically but it was one of our favorites. Key lime pie tastes almost exactly like a key lime pie. Super sweet with a delicious citrusy flavor. A bit viscous as if you're getting through the filling on a pie. Heavily suggest this drink as one of your desserts. Cold pizza had a similar viscosity with an egg white emulsion infused with basil aromatics. Tastes like you're eating a greasy high-quality New York slice every time you take a sip. Certainly, less heavy than a New York slice which makes it go down pretty easy. Very novel experience. Papaya salad was less-potent in flavor. A quick whif will give provide a very gentle fish sauce flavor. I might prefer it to have a spicier finish or some peppers. If I went back, I might suggest that. I will say it is pretty aesthetic with the par-boiled tomato on top of the ice cube. One of our less-favorite items although it is pretty simple and still quite good. It is difficult to taste the Bombay Sapphire. Dorayaki was one of my favorites although the rest of the squad didn't appreciate it quite as much. It is in the dessert section although I appreciated more savory flavors. There's a pastry with savory whipped mushroom cream filling inside. You take a bite of that and drink the cocktail. There are some caramel notes that I appreciated but it felt like I was drinking a hearty brothy soup. Japanese cold noodle soup and the melon prosciutto were alright. I think they were on the sweeter side so I didn't really drink them quite as much and have less to say about them. Of the foods, the chicken sandwiches were pretty good. The hot honey sandwich didn't have a dominant hot honey flavor. The pesto flavors came through stronger. I'd try this if I were getting a chicken item. The salted egg yolk sandwich had that iconic egg yolk texture to it. I appreciated the previous sandwich a bit more. The star of the show for me was the "grilled cheese." A superior toasted and seeded roll with a molten mild white cheese oozing in the center. Charred bits of cheese line the roll. Bolognese sauce is present underneath the cheese. Super duper filling and neat. Comes with those peppercinis to add a hit of heat and sour if you need it with the richness of the sandwich. Overall, I'm giving this place a 5 for the novelty of the experience. It's a bit costly. The food is decent but the drinks are excellent for value. I would say this is a great place to bring people before a night out or if somebody's visiting the city.
This place has a nice bar vibe for the lower east side, but the music is a bit too loud to have a long conversation. The music volume and the reservation/waitist process brings the rating down from 5 stars. The food is pretty good, definitely above average, but the items that are not chicken sandwiches are really small like the lobster tempura. Though it was unique, it was literally 1 bite per person. The hot honey chicken sandwich was very good and had a nice deep flavor and just enough spicy to keep things interesting, but still keep going back for more bites. I would probably ignore some of the starters if you don't want to overspend on super tiny small bites. I might go back if they turn the volume a little lower and if I really want another chicken sandwich.
Totally worth the hype!! Make sure to get to the back of the bar, where they make food-inspired drinks. Absolutely love that they are so on brand. Our party got a little confused about the menu, whether it was actual food or drinks haha. Highly recommend making a reservation, since they get crowded really easily and space is somewhat limited. I got to try a bit of everyone's drinks, and my favorites were the Japanese cold noodle, key lime pie, and cold pizza. Each of the drinks really surprised me on how well they tasted like the actual food, you'll just have to taste them for yourself! We also got popcorn chicken to share, which was also delicious but would probably skip on the sauces next time. Some of us got chicken sandwiches that were also huge! DCP is not just a cocktail bar, it's an experience. Definitely give it a visit and you'll be wowed!
Food: 3.8/5 Drinks: 4.6/5 Service: 3.7/5 We joined the line yesterday at like 453pm and then we were at the front of the line by 510pm just after they opened. They took our names down and found us a table for 3 at the Coop. We were told it would be a tight fit, but it was perfectly comfortable. We had our drinks order ready but the service was a bit slow (more on that later). The servers were super nice and tried to explain us everything as we said we hadn't been there before. But it was too loud to hear anything. The backroom vibe is great incl the lighting (perfect for a date) but the volume should be turned down a bit, as you can't hear the person sitting next to you, let alone in front of you. We ordered the popcorn chicken, the salt egg yolk sandwich, the stuffed chicken wing with the thai basil aioli. The popcorn was 10/10 no notes. The portion was huge for the $13. The sandwich was forgettable unfortunately. It was also messy/hard to eat and they don't give you a plate in case we wanted to share. The stuffed wing was 8/10. The concept was unique and the first bite is phenomenal but once you've had that stuffed rice, there is nothing else you'd enjoy about it (salt lacking in the rest of it). A crispy exterior would've brought it to a 10. Now the drinks, the reason why we were there. I ordered all the fan faves and my friends ordered the rest. We ordered: 1. Japanese cold noodle: the best drink of the night imho. perfectly balanced. 2. Melon prosciutto: yes and yes - refreshing. 3. Papaya salad: the tomato can be messy to eat - beware. But a strong drink with a fun finish. 4. Cold pizza: 2nd fav drink. The parm flavor was a bit lacking for me, but I think it was a great concept especially with tequila. The craft is unreal. 5. Red eye gravy: very interesting list of ingredients, and refined but the actual garnish didn't entirely match the experience. 6. Mango sticky rice: missing the mango but a nice drink. 7. French toast: yummy. Doesn't feel like you're having a cocktail and that is the point I think? Overall, verdict is we would go back to try the rest of the drinks only. We would visit the backroom probably and would definitely take the service with a grain of salt. We waited an avg of 20 mins per drink, and not everyone on the table got their drinks together. We also had to flag down our server each time to order another round (after the drinks were finished and cleared out). So for a 90-min seating you can imagine how hard it was for us to do the damage we did - only because I was dedicated enough to want to experience as much of their menu. I had been wanting to visit them for a few years now. EDIT: I am having trouble posting pics. But took a bunch and would love to share if anyone wants to see the drinks!
The vibe of this place is so chill. The music in the background is great but not too loud so you can chat with your friends. It was dark inside but in a cool way and there was enough lightning for you to see. Our server was so attentive and we got our drinks fairly quickly. I had the mango sticky rice which was sweet but went down pretty smooth. My friends had the Thai curry and the melon prosciutto. Out of the three we'd probably put the Thai curry at the bottom. I personally didn't like my friend's melon prosciutto but my friend loved it because it wasn't so sweet. The Thai curry had a cute popsicle but that's about it tbh. I would definitely go again though there's so many other drinks I'd want to try.
Deliiiicious savory cocktails!! Definitely line up at least 30-60min before opening time to snag a walk in spot since resys are suuuuuper hard to get. Ambiance was cozy n intimate and the drinks were so unique. Tasted exactly like pizza! Food wasn't too memorable though. Great presentation!

The drinks in the back room are the ones to come for! There's always a long wait so make sure you go and put your name on the list early. If you're into Old Fashioned's, the Mango Sticky Rice is the way to go! I went with a large group and we all ordered two rounds and tried each others drinks. They were are excellent! read more
DCP felt hip but classy and clean, with great service. We sat in the back room, which you can see on the menu on their website they serve more dinner like items. I would prefer seeing more variety but some choices still looked interesting. You can order their chicken sandwiches and cocktails on tap in the front. We only ordered drinks and got the mango sticky rice and ny beet salad. They are definitely unique cocktails and we weren't sure what to expect, but wound up liking our drinks. They also have more classic drinks as well. I would come back and also try their chicken sandwiches! read more
I came here specifically for the salted duck egg yolk sandwich and I ended up get that plus the hot honey sandwich and the chips with a side of salted duck egg yolk sauce . I came here expecting to love the salted egg sandwich only and it exceeded my expectations. And the hot honey was just as high- they are equally amazing!!! So deliciously heart-warming and satisfying. I ate outside in 30-degree temperatures and was so happy. I heard the tofu sandwich is actually also very good with Chef Mark using his grandmother's peanut sauce recipe. Expect menu to expand and some items to change seasonally. Hector at the bar is very helpful and will guide you about the goods! read more

Cute spot with interesting drinks. The restaurant is split between front (informal) and back. I wanted to try the sandwiches so we sat in the front. Drinks were unique with hints of Asian ingredients - teas, winter melon, longan, etc. We ordered the hot honey, salted duck egg and tofu sandwiches. Our favorite was the hot honey. The duck egg had a taste I wasn't used to and the tofu had a delicious peanut sauce but it was missing texture. I would come back for the drinks and sit in the back to see what other foods they have. read more
Came in on a Saturday night around 8:15. I had heard good things about their sandwiches and drinks, so I decided to pop in. I mentioned I was in a rush to make an event and asked the staff how long it would take to get a chicken sandwich to go. They quoted me ~10 minutes, so I ordered a salted duck egg fried chicken sandwich. I understand it was busy, but it ended up taking 25-30 minutes and no one bothered to check in. The sandwich was also a huge disappointment. The salted duck yolk added no flavor whatsoever, and the sandwich was tiny for $14. read more

This place is very legit. I didn't try their food but I've heard that the popcorn chicken and chicken sandwich were worth a shot. Our server was fast along with the back bartenders who made our drinks. The ambiance was nice and sleek to say the least. Definitely will come back again. read more

Finally got in to the back room! The wait is always crazy, but the hype is well-deserved. The drinks are really innovative, and my favorites were the japanese cold noodles and key lime pie. Definitely recommend coming with a group of friends to try a bunch of drinks - cold pizza was unexpectedly decent. Drinks are also not too overpriced for NYC! read more
The best chicken sandwich I've had to date! "Hot honey chicken sandwich" doesn't even do justice to the beautiful, saucy, and crispy chicken. The bread melts in your mouth. The chicken is light and bursting with flavor. And the sauces are what really did it for me, especially this green sauce that added a tangy kick. The cocktails were also perfection. The sesame cold noodle cocktail tasted exactly like the dish, and the key lime cocktail was sweet and creamy. Both were super refreshing, especially on a hot summer day! Will definitely be returning. My friend got us seats by walking in at 4:30pm (before it opens) on a weeknight. I suggest doing the same because the line isn't too crazy. read more

The Lower East Side is home to a number of great cocktail bars and now it has another one to add from Taiwanese bartenders who have worked at some of the best bars, including Angel's Share, Mace and Speak Low (founded by the same bartender who founded Tokyo's The SG Club, which is one of my favorite cocktail bars in Tokyo and the world). For now Double Chicken Please only has six cocktails on tap due to the limited indoor seating capacity measures, but the team here can really pull it off. The chef who has curated their food menu has worked at some of the world's best restaurants including Eleven Madison Park, Blue Hill and Le Bernardin so their signature buttermilk, honey and Thai basil fried chicken sandwich did not disappoint. The service is friendly and it felt like being back at some of the best cocktail bars in Taipei. Congratulations on opening this awesome bar and we can't wait for the pandemic to end so that you can start offering your multi-course food and cocktail pairings in the beautiful space in the back! read more
We had everything on the menu except for the shot and salad and it was all delicious. The two owners are former bartenders at some of the best bars in the world and the chef used to cook at EMP and La Bernardin. Cocktails are around $15 and and food was $12 or less so definitely a steal given the talent. They plan on adding new items every two weeks and have been tinkering with the cocktail recipes so you can keep coming back even if you've had everything. Really tasteful and modern aesthetics. The plates and cutlery were custom made and really pretty. The paintings (chicken themed) were done by one of the owner's friends from design school (his name is fittingly Turkey). There's seating in the back later in the evening that's set up to look like you're in someone's home. The bar area looks like a kitchen and the ambience is really cozy and intimate. GN (one of the owners) said that they plan on having a completely different menu for that back area once restaurants can reopen fully. For the food: -Chicken sandwiches were really moist and flavorful. -My favorite was the hot honey chicken sandwich. It wasn't too sweet and the Thai basil sauce was awesome. -Loved the salted egg yolk sandwich too, added an interesting texture to the sandwich. -There's also a veggie option with a tofu sandwich that was really hearth and tasty. The chef plans on adding more plant-based items to the menu -Chips were interesting in a good way. They're bagged but made in-house with a variety of different sweet potatoes, plum salt and 5 spice seasoning. -The dessert was so good I bought another one. Le Big Mac, a collab with Patisserie Fouet, is an almond macaron chocolate ice cream sandwich with yuzu jelly, mochi and sesame sponge cake designed to look like the burger. Also comes in a carton container. Cocktails are on tap which tends to get a bad reputation but these were really good. They're lighter in alcohol than typical cocktails so you can try a bunch without getting smashed. My favorite was #6 with Yuzu, jalapeño, mezcal and corona. A little savory but still fruity. My friend really liked #1 which had cold brew, rum, and apricot. Also service was awesome! GN was so warm and welcoming and loved talking about the concept. Finally waited in the line and got in to Double Chicken Please in LES. I was impressed with the space, it was super rustic but comfy in the back room. We had great service and the drinks lived up to the hype - very eclectic and different. My favorite was the Japanese Noodle and French Toast. I also loved the popcorn chicken and grilled cheese the most. I was shocked at the spice level of some of the food so be careful! read more

The bar is offering a list of draft cocktails from the tap right now, so the drinks don't look fancy with lots of garnish, but they are still great drinks. #1 is a cold brew based cocktail, with rum to spike it up and apricot to make it smoother and easier to drink. #5 is my better choice with Kavalan whisky, oolong, longan and honey - you can taste all these ingredients in the drink and appreciate how harmonious they are together to give you that oriental impression. The salted duck yolk sauce that come with the sweet potato chips is really good as well (although a bit small in portion - we finished the whole thing before the chips). Overall a really nice experience and would love to come again. read more
Wow the space is actually super nice! The menu is on the smaller side, with very few options for food, but I ended up getting the Hot Honey sandwich and it was really good! The chicken is extremely tender and flavorful - I couldn't resist finishing this in minutes! They have indoor seating now and didn't seem too busy on the weekends. read more

Honestly, this is the best chicken sandwich in all NYC. They have two chicken sandwich options. One is Buttermilk, Hot Honey, and Thai Basil. The other is Salted Duck Egg Yolk, and Shrimp. I've had both, both are great. And the ice cream sandwich is fantastic. They even make their own sweet potato chips! I think I prefer the Buttermilk, Hot Honey, and Thai Basil Chicken sandwich, but again they both are really great. This restaurant was created by an alumnus of Angel's Share so their cocktails should be amazing, but I have yet to try one. I plan in the future to enjoy one though. read more
Finally made it to the back room and it was so worth it. The key lime pie was literally life changing. I don't think I've ever had a drink that good in my life!!! I would go back just to order it again and again. The french toast was also so good! The "oreo" is supposed to be like an espresso martini and the bitterness complemented the drink perfectly. Have also had drinks in the front and the #8 tasted just like chai (and was delicious). Will be coming back for sure :) read more
I personally come to Double Chicken for their Chicken Sandwiches which never fails to disappoint. They are prepared in various styles and I really like the Hot Honey Chicken. Ranked as one of the World's Best Bars, getting a reservation to the back room is close to impossible. That being said, you can come 25 minutes prior to opening to wait in line. Their drinks are unique such as the Cold Pizza. read more
This. Place. Is. The. Bomb. It was really hard to get a reservation here, but I set up my Resy notifications and was determined to make it work on my most recent trip to New York. We luckily got a spot at 11pm, but unfortunately didn't realize the kitchen closes at 11! Will have to make another stop next time to try their fried chicken - definitely make sure you go before 11 if you're hungry! The drinks were incredible. My favorite was the key lime pie, it was like nothing I've ever had before and absolutely delicious (even though my friend and I aren't fans of key lime pie, we LOVED this drink). The sesame flavor in the cold noodle drink was also to die for. This place is amazing and I can definitely understand why it gets the rave reviews! read more
A hidden gem! My friends and I reserved the back area (lounge) for drinks. Note that the front is a cafe / chicken sandwich place and the back is the drink lounge are. You can't order food in the lounge unfortunately until 11 PM or so. We had to get sandwiches to go. The drinks here are unique and inspired by food dishes like mango sticky rice, beet salad, soba noodles, etc. Luckily, I went with a big group (8 total) and tried almost all the drinks. I recommend doing the same to get the full experience. I'll highlight the few I remember: Mango sticky rice: My personal favorite! It had hints of the mango sticky rice without being too overpowering. I could still taste some alcohol, which blended well with the other flavors. Soba noodle: I don't know how they did this, but it tastes like soba noodle broth. What a complex and interesting flavor profile. I enjoyed it but my friends not so much - it tasted too much like food for them. The real highlight of this place for me though was the chicken sandwich. I had the hot honey one and it was probably one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had - it was a flavor bomb and the chicken was extremely tender. read more

Chicken sandwiches are mediocre. Blehhh to be honest. I got the hot honey. The bread was overpowering and not even toasted. The pesto sauce on it was too salty and the chicken was dry. The salted egg sandwich wasn't much better at all. Just tasted weird to be honest.Popeyes has much better chicken sandwiches. Service is good though. read more

So I went here based on a suggestion from tik tok as "best places to get drinks". It is not worth the hype lol. My bf and I are really into speakeasies and cocktail bars so we've been around to all the top places in the city and this place fell short in comparison. The staff were super sweet, very attentive and overall great customer service but the drinks weren't worth the price and we've paid waaay more for cocktails. They're good but nothing to write home about. Can't comment on the food menu. We only had the stuffed chicken wings which were good. Also the front vs back room menu situation is really unpleasant. I liked the drink options better in back room but the food options in the front room and having to choose was kinda annoying. Like just make it one food menu. It's one kitchen I assume read more

So good! Tried their salted duck egg sandwich and it was amazing! Very flavorful and a great balance of flavors. I would never usually order something like this but I'm glad I got to try it! Also tried their sweet potato chips with five spice, which had a nice kick to it. Even their green market salad was really really good!! I only tried their #5 cocktail and it was quite strong! It had a strong taste of orange but it was really good with some ice. Overall, can't wait to try more of their menu items especially the hot honey sandwich. Are service dogs allowed?
I have a reservation at 11pm. Is there a separate entrance for the back room? Do I still need to wait on line if I have a reservation?
There's no separate entrance but you don't need to wait in line - tell the people at the front door and they'll usher you into the front room to wait for your table to clear up.
Do you need reservations?
Backroom reservations open 6 days ahead at exactly 12 am. They disappear almost instantly within a minute. Best bet, if you miss it is to show up right when it opens. Wait time can range from 0-3 hours up until 5:30-6:00 pm. After that, good luck…
