Excellent pho. I come here for lunch all the time, and I prefer the chicken pho with vegetable broth. My coworker likes the rare steak pho. Service is friendly and fast. The employees are nice, and they give out their wifi password which is cool. The only bad experience I've ever had here was getting a really flat Dr. Pepper once, but now they seem to have it in cans which prevents that problem. I highly recommend this place. read more

Man I wanted to like this place. It's been in Louisville forever. Despite that fact, we've steered clear because it always appears empty. Tonight we decided to give their takeout a try. The chicken noodle soup was super bland and the veggie egg foo young had a TON of onions. It was all you could taste although I thought the sauce was pleasant. I had the kung pao chicken which was ok except there was a spice in the sauce that I didn't love. But what bothered me most was the kung pao made my teeth feel weird which I assumed it meant they used a lot of corn starch to thicken the sauce. In all, we were super disappointed. I so badly wanted to like it, but in all, it was a waste of money. :( read more

Double Happy has an undeserved poor reputation in the area. It is very much your standard local Chinese restaurant but the menu is quite extensive, the portions large, and the prices very reasonable. A family owned business, it is a nice lunch place where you can have a bowl of soup, entree and wontons or egg roll for less than $10 at lunch. They use no MSG and the quality of ingredients is high. I recommend this for those seeking Chinese food without pretension. It's a nice addition to an area that has lost two restaurants in recent months. read more

This review is for Double Happy's Boba: My husband and I stopped at Double Happy yesterday afternoon for a "quick" treat, and chose to go with the Taro and Milk Tea Boba options. Our expectations were not super high because since moving to this area, the ethnic food (in general) has not been super impressive. My boyfriend was a total sweetheart and bought me a green tea matcha boba from Double Happy, but it came mega warm. I specifically asked for no ice, but Bambu Tea makes it just as cool and fresh for me without the ice so I expected Double Happy to do the same. My son was wanting dumplings and we were looking for a sit down Chinese restaurant nearby. Little did we know there was one so close to us. It was wonderful. The food is incredible and they serve large portions. Everyone had leftovers except for my son, he gorged on the dumplings, thumbs up. The service is good and the price is great. This place looks sketchy from the outside - but don't let it freak you out. Go inside and order the green curry with vegetables. Ask for brown rice and you will have a fresh cooked meal that will offer you leftovers! I usually go for takeout - and I would go more often if it wasn't for the styrophome containers. THEY CHANGED TO PAPER TO-GO CONTAINERS!!! Best solution in town for take-away Asian food. The food is pretty good, but Louisville residents beware! The delivery service is EXTREMELY slow. Yes, I know I should just walk the 6 blocks to pick it up, but sometimes you just want delivery. Ordered the Kung Pao chicken. Per the menu, it's white meat. Not sure last time I saw white meat with such small pieces of meat attached by tendons. Obviously dark meat. I told the waitress the menu said white meat & asked if that changed recently. The manager came out to tell me it IS white meat & just stained dark by the sauce. Add to that the sauce was very heavy and overpowered the tidbits of vegetables in there. Anyhow, I paid full price for a meal I didn't eat to avoid a scene. But it's money spent well spent since its just one person eating tonight. I know not to waste money bringing the whole family here. Very unsatisfactory experience. Walking down the street to look for a redemption meal. Makes me sad to have a bad meal. read more

I am surprised that this place has only few stars. I've eat here and the food is really tasty and family style , authentic Chinese food. My husband and I love their fry rice and now they also offer Pho and bubble tea , both are really really good. Been here many times and every time it has been amazing. I understand that not every restaurant is going to have their A game 365 days a year but out of the 20 or 25 times I have eaten here they have brought it. Their pho is amazing, their lo mein is perfect and huge, chicken is tender, beef is really good but darn near perfect in the pho. Rice is decent portion and the sake is amazing. The Vietnamese egg rolls are DELICIOUS especially with the hoisin sauce! My only thing I didn't really care for is the Thai Lemonade. It tastes exactly like regular lemonade to me but twice the cost. Lastly, I have had delivery 3 times from them and all 3 times they arrived in under 30 minutes from the time I ordered them. So it is in my top 2 favorite Chinese restaurants in all of Colorado. read more

Such a nice little Chinese place! The food was great and the atmosphere was pleasant. There were only a few other people there so it wasn't crowded at all. The food came out quickly and was nice and hot! The tastes were very good and we really enjoyed everything that we ordered!! The only reason why I gave 4 stars is because we were never asked for a drink order and were just given waters. But it's not that big of a deal! Just saved us some money! The Double happy shines in a region where good Chinese is notably hard to find. I grew up in NJ where the Chinese food is abundant and amazing, and while this place isn't as good as NJ, it's as close as I've found. I only reserved the 5th star because this place needs an interior decorator and it's not the absolutely best Chinese I've ever had. That said, the Double Happy is affordable and generous with portions, which is always welcome since Chinese leftovers are delicious the next day. The have a subpar wine selection and all the beers are in 22 oz bottles, but good selections for a Chinese place. The menu is great and they offer dinner for two options that can be a feast if you're hungry. The food is consistent and near the top for the area. read more

Growing up in Louisville, one simply did not go to Double Happy. They were sketchy, almost always deserted, and occasionally got closed down by the Health Dept. for short stints. I think I had eaten there only once when I graduated from high school. If I may be permitted a brief aside: It seems to me that Chinese restaurants stay open forever even if they have no customers, and horror movies get at least one sequel no matter how crappy they are, IE. "Jeepers Creepers II." Anyway, now that Louisville has undergone its renaissance, nearly every restaurant on Main Street has been renovated and reborn. Not so Double Happy. Double Happy seems to have applied some paint and added Pho to their menu. Which is exactly why I found myself there one warm summer's night. The Pho was outstanding. Probably among the top ten bowls of pho I have ever had. The restaurant has an odd, unfinished feeling to it, and was nearly deserted on a night when every other restaurant in town had a wait of at least half an hour. The bartender was slightly awkward and slightly annoying, and (this is one of my pet peeves) even though Double Happy has an actual bar, they don't seem to know how to use it. He had to go in the back to get our beer, wine, and even water. I find this strange and annoying. Some of the other comments seem to indicate that the rest of their food has gotten better, and if this is the case, then I see the place as being useful for those times when you are dining with people who don't like pho (since they can have Chinese food while you eat yours). Aside from that, its not a terrible place to stop in for a quick bowl of pho if you are an addict like myself. It really was great. The rest of the presentation is just... lacking. read more
