Should be named Double UNhappy. The quality of ingredients was awful. It tasted like Chinese food found in the grocery store that had failed quality control tests. The low mein had burnt oil. The spring rolls were filled with some kind of noodles a chunk of frozen shrimp and the lowest quality ham I've even seen. Egg rolls were nasty. My chicken Pho soup had chicken in it that was either gelatenuous or crazy over cooked. The whole time I ate it, all I could think was, "Dear God, please don't let me get food poisoning." The service was entirely sub par. If a Martian came to earth and ate that food, they would never want to eat Chinese / Vietnamese again. Ever. In Short, I was supremely bummed. read more

Last time we trust "Yelpers". We were SHOCKED by how bad it was, given the reviews. I ordered the Sesame Beef, and while I wasn't expecting grass-fed beef, I was expecting beef... couldn't find any in the dish for the life of me. As far as I could tell, it was all fried batter. My wife and I are regulars at Double Happy and we really like everything about this place.The owners are incredibly friendly and the food is consistently good. They have a large menu so it might take a few visits to find your dish, but it's worth it. We recommend the Kung Pao Chicken and the Pho. It's worth mentioning that Double Happy is a family owned and ran restaurant in the heart of old town Louisville. If you're expecting dinner in "Boulder" then you should probably go to Boulder or try PF Changs at the Flatirons mall. read more

This place has very good food and the portions are generous and always feature very fresh vegetables. Now and then I have noticed the chicken doesn't taste as fresh as can be, maybe it's been cooked the day before, but I still like this place. They are very accommodating. We stopped here cause the nearby restaurants had waits and double happy did not. I had the pho (meatball) and it was probably the best I've had in colorado, very flavorful without needing to add a bunch of extra stuff (like fish sauce and siracha) to get the flavor right like I need to do at some restaurants. We also split the crab cheese wontons which were very good. My husband got pork egg foo young, it was not at all like any egg foo young he had before but he thought it was actually one of the best he had tried. Just moved to Louisville and looking for a new chinese restaurant to be my go-to. Ordered delivery of sesame chicken and crab wontons. The food did not taste very good and was very cloyingly sweet. How disappointing. We actually think Double Happy's food, though not always consistent, is pretty decent. But their service is not good at all. Tonight we waited one hour and forty minutes for our food to be delivered. I am not an unforgiving person if a mistake was made (which has already happened with them before) but the way the whole thing was handled was really poor. Each time we've ordered delivery from Double Happy (about 8 times since we moved here 1.5 years ago) They tell us it will be 45-60 minutes. It has almost always taken the full hour, sometimes a few minutes over. We live two minutes away. Tonight I called at the hour mark to check how long until our food arrived as I had two hungry children. The woman who answered at Double Happy told me our food was on its way. I called again 20 minutes later when it still hadn't arrived and she told me that it was strange that we hadn't received our food and could she call me back after she called the driver. I didn't hear back from her so I called once again in another 10 minutes (now 1.5 hours since I ordered.) An older woman came one the line and said that our food was just being packaged and is on its way now. Huh?! When we finally got our food another 10 minutes later, the delivery man told my husband that they were very busy tonight and that they (Double Happy) tells everyone 45-60 minutes no matter how long the wait will be. This is just no acceptable. It is so disrespectful to their customers. And it's not just delivery. My husband has waited 10-20 minutes when picking up at their states pick up time. To top things off, they just raised their prices. Our dinner of chicken curry, orange beef, 2 orders of egg rolls (4), crab Rangoon, and two children's meals was $48, up from $40. That is enough for dinner for 4 and leftovers for lunch for my husband. I expect better when I'm paying that kind of money for take out. We will be looking for another Chinese restaurant. read more

Went to double happy for the first time yesterday and was impressed with the service and the food. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived. The menu was good with a decent selection. I got a Chinese dish while my lunch companion got shrimp Pho. My meal came with soup as well as choice of side. I found it to be filling and well priced. My friend's Pho was more than he could eat- which is impressive since that guy can eat. Food came quickly and it was tasty. The crab cheese wontons were my favorite part. I've been going to Double Happy for over twenty years. There weekend buffet is great. The family that run it and their employees are wonderful. It's nice to see a family restaurant with a real family. You may have noticed them sitting at the family table to the left of the front door. I've watched their children grow from babies. I heard they had remodeled not too long ago--could have fooled me. The flooring is separating and curving upwards. It will be a tripping hazard in no time. No decorations to speak of. Oh, The pho!! This is truly the best pho I have ever had. Their home made broth is truly exceptional and has beautiful flavor. Rare beef and brisket are my favorite. But seriously, don't stop there... The Vietnamese egg rolls are amazing too! The owner will be your server and she is just lovely. She serves saki with plum wine mixed with the perfect proportions. They have a wide variety of options including dim sum too. She is also very careful with dietary restrictions such as soy and gluten allergies. We eat here often and have always had a perfect meal. Let's face it, we live in Colorado, not San Fransisco or New York City. We have no China Town. It is unrealistic, I think, to expect the WORLDS GREATEST CHINESE FOOD here. I grew up eating Colorado's version of Chinese food, so take this with a grain of salt... however compared to the standard set in Boulder county, double happy has wonderful food and friendly staff. Not the best ambience, and the staff take some getting used to... but now I'm treated like family. I haven't had chicken lo-mein so good in my life. The only possible downside is that it took a little longer than they quoted me for my takeout order, but that was fine. It was a nice evening so I was happy to hang around out front and wait.
