Stopped in for a bite while on our way to the Sussex Fairgrounds. The name sounded familiar and I was feeling a deja vu moment when my wife reminded me of the other location in Warwick, NY. That's where I remembered the name. Either way this was my first visit to any of both locations. I was pleasantly pleased with the food and BTW it is a BYOB. Terrible restaurant with even worse owners. Used to work here last year tried to leave a review but it didn't go through for some reason. Anytime I would go to the kitchen to get a side dish there would always be a-little mold in it. The owners would say to just pick around the mold. I also bartended here and for there specialty cocktails when it would say to add Tito's or a higher quality alcohol the owners would tell me to just use bottom shelf which is ILLEGAL. If you have something wrong with your order and try asking to fix it they will not let you and the owners will yell at you. Initially the waitress brought grilled chicken to the table, but then quickly corrected it. I should have kept the grilled chicken because it looked better. The pulled chicken was watery and mushy...did they wash it? They have 4 sauces on the table...they were all pretty tasty and helped to redeem my soggy chicken. The food is still delicious. The hostess sat me 3 minutes after I arrived and took my drink order. Waiter brings drinks and takes order, no problem. Runner brings food in a timely manner, then it all goes down hill, with the service. I'm half way through my meal before the waiter that took my order even shows up in the area I'm sitting. I then had to flag him down as he is fast walking past my table. Not once but twice I have to do this. There is no salt and peppers on the table, they give you one napkin. First off I'd say 3.5/10 as a half rating. To make it quick, the food is good but not really worth the price. It's smoked beautifully and is proper bbq, but some is the tastes are off. I got the pork belly burnt ends, they were perfectly cooked/smoked but the tomato bbq sauce was too acidic for it and smothered on. My party also got a Beef Brisket sandwich which was OK, a bit dry lacking some flavor; and a Pulled pork sandwich which was good. The popcorn at the table was great and so was my corn bread. The drinks were large, and the waitress was very friendly. The place was decorated great and had a nice layout of booths and tables. Food also came out quick. I would say it wouldn't hurt to try but only if it fits in your budget and you're willing to try. read more

All The meats tasted reheated or died in an oven being held after smoking. The burnt end baked beans and 3 small pieces of brisket, the creamed corn tasted like a roux and corn mixed. Asked for rare got a hockey puck. It was supposed to be smoked, nope. The cut looked more like a ny strip. Girlfriend got the sampler: same sad food, dry pulled pork really? Where do I begin? The family went for the Christmas lights at the Skylands Stadium and saw this place and figured we would try it. WHAT A MISTAKE!! I ordered the tri-tip steak dinner ($26). Ordered it medium rare. It came out looking just awful, but I figured I would dig in and see how it was - tasted as bad as it looked. Tri-tips are supposed to have a marbled fat to them, which gives them their good taste - this chunk of substandard meat had more grizzle than you can imagine and would have choked a lion if a lion would have even wanted to eat it. I wouldn't feed it to a rat digging for leftovers in a garbage can. I couldn't cut this steak with a steak knife, so how the heck was I supposed to chew it? We spoke w/ the waitress who "talked" to the manager. Waitress informed us that tri-tips are supposed to be fatty (and I guess not chewable, since I couldn't choke it down if I tried!). Manager came over to clean our table and we showed him how much grizzle was on this piece of crap, and he spews the same BS - tri-tips are fatty and aren't meant to be chewed, just looked at, I guess. My husband tells the manager he's got to take care of his customers and this RUDE, NASTY manager starts ranting about "participation trophies," which we couldn't even figure out what the hell he was talking about. Manager proceeds to try to cut the meat using his fingers to show me it's easy to cut - NOT!! (How disgusting, by the way!) Why would a manager even argue with a patron? That was beyond comprehension. Arguing with a patron after looking at a chunk of uneaten meat with grizzle all over it?? Insulting, to say the least, and just plain incomprehensible. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on this place - it's not worth it!! He gave us NO credit for the meal, of which almost all the meat was left on the plate. He said we could pack it and bring it home for our dog - my dogs wouldn't even eat this crap - they would throw it back at me and laugh at me!! RUDE, NASTY, BAD FOOD. Scrumptious smoked BBQ! We ordered the family platter and everything was very tasty. My only critique is that of the meats were not as juicy as I'd prefer, and I expected a bit more seasoning. We started with nachos which were completely unremarkable. For dinner, I had the pulled pork, one of my companions had a burger and the other had a sampler. Just not worth it. I have been passing this place since it took over from the pizza place and a friend asked if we wanted to go. I had heard good things and decided to try it out. It had been there for years so I thought it couldn't be that bad. My buddy ordered prime rib, I ordered the smoked meatloaf. When the food came out by buddy received a half rack of ribs instead of the prime rib but decided to eat it. I got my meatloaf with collared greens with bacon and mashed sweet potatoes as my sides and a piece of 'cornbread'. The corn bread was more like corn cake. Soft and not like any cornbread I have ever had. Not what I expected or wanted. The meatloaf was white. It did not look like red meat. It was hard and dried out so I poured the obvious bottled gravy on it to try to help it down. Being smoked I second guessed myself. All of it was tasteless. Thank the gods for salt and pepper. Other friends joined us and one of them got the sliced turkey. Dry as a bone and she wound up not eating half of it. By this time I was thinking I should have saved my money and kept passing this place. When the check came we thought it was a little higher than it should be. First we saw a 'cash rebate charge' or some such ridiculously phrased wording for about $7. Before they even knew if we were paying with cash they had already added this charge. Right underneath this charge was an 'automatically added gratuity' of a little over a 15% tip. We had already added a 20% tip for the poor waitress who has to work in this shithole. I got immediately more pissed off that they weren't even going to inform us about these added charges. So we paid the bill and nothing but the bill and left it at that. We paid cash and was never given our 'cash rebate'. We let it go because they need the money more than we did seeing to the fact the food sucked and there can't be much return business. I, for one, will never go back. They got me once, never again. If the food was halfway decent I could overlook their sneaky, shifty, borderline criminal tactics but it was subpar, tasteless garbage. I ate this because, god damn it, I was going to have to pay for it. I should not have done it because sitting hear writing this I am becoming aware of a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach and am sure I'll be visiting the head many times before I'm done. Steer clear and don't eat this tasteless shit that is making me sick right now. You'll thank me in the end. It boggles the mind to think, if this is what they serve, how could they still be open and then I realized, some people have no clue what good food is. Along with the burnt end beans and slaw, that's a pretty big lunch. My buddies had pulled pork and and a brisket sandwich. The brisket was pretty good. Moist, tender & juicy; well cooked. I might have preferred a little more bark and more smoke flavor but that's just me. Nonetheless this was still very good smoked brisket. The beans & slaw were good. We haven't been to this place in quite some time. We went to their new location by the stadium last week. I had a fried chicken sandwich which was good - very flavorful with sriracha Mayo.
