I'm a total fan of this Double-T restaurant. Not all Double-T's are not created equal. I consider myself a diner fiend. I seek them out, always looking for new experiences. This comes from growing up in New Jersey where we literally have a diner on every corner. Service, A-1, top notch. Food quality is classic diner quality. Onion rings are batter dipped and pretty darn good. I am a real fan of their Philly Cheese steak. I also really love and enjoy their burgers. Specifically, the The Hangover Burger with Fried Egg, Bacon & American Cheese. It's a big burger but not sloppy. I really dislike any food that is sloppy. Also, if you ask for hot fries you get them. I think that hot food it so important. Nothing worse than heat lamp fries. Our servers always give us great service. They bring plenty of beverage refills with out asking. They have great deserts which, rotate on an ongoing basis. Everything is baked in house and fresh. Only peeve I have is splitting checks. And I understand why. In order to make sure everyone pay on their portion the cashier will split them at checkout. A 15% service charge will be added to all checks over $30.00. Between the hours of 11:00 pm and 6:00 am,a 15% service charge will be added to all checks. I don't mind this since there are a lot of cheap people out there. I often like to tip in the 20-25%. I look at tipping like this. My tip isn't for this visit, it's for the next time I come, insuring great service on my next visit. read more

The Double T Diner in Catonsville Maryland was a delightful surprise! Classic diner characteristic, lots of chrome, booths with the classic diner jukeboxes boxes and counter space. Not as classic was a small bar, an endless counter of sweets, and an extensive menu. The crab ball appetizer was amazing! They were far better than any crab cake I've had. The pork chops with Marsala were superb. The carrot cake and strawberry shortcake is excellent. The portions are very generous and reasonably priced. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. The quintessential diner experience in the Greater Baltimore area. A menu that some have compared to the Old Testament because of its vastness. I've heard the chefs working here require an encyclopedic level of culinary knowledge, just to serve breakfast. Recommendations? -Ask about the soup of the day. Chicken Noodle and any type of bisques are necessities. -Corn Beef Hash Benedict, bathed in hollandaise. Came for Saturday breakfast. We were attended immediately and our food came out pretty quick with the amount of people inside. Our waiter was very polite and always checking in on us. The food has a little bit more to offer. Seemed pretty bland for Eggs Benedict and an Egg Skillet. It's definitely missing some taste/seasoning to their food. My first and since then last time there because it wasn't really worth it unless you really wanna eat late night and/or want alcohol with your food. Went here awhile ago it was about 1 or 2 am. Only reason we went here was to cure a late night munchie and the fact that they serve alcoholic drinks. Waited to be seated that was okay. There were several people coming out and going in so it was worth a try. I eventually regretted it. The food came out in ample time but was super bland and the breakfast food that was ordered by the person I came with was cold and obviously old. As well my observations of the guy sitting across from us he ordered a sandwich with soup. He ended up getting another soup as a replacement as I heard him tell the waitress that the initial soup was cold and didn't taste correct. Once he got his second soup he started talking to us about his dissatisfaction and we quickly agreed. So it wasn't just me or my company alone with complaints from another patron. A huge breakfast, the Double T special, and no, I didn't get any food poisoning. It was very A-OK. Two eggs over medium, a big pile of home fries (that was alternatively under- and over-done), a greasy sausage, a pile of thin and greasy bacon and two very fluffy pancakes. Very filling and the pancakes were the best part. I'd have liked to use something other than the packet of Smucker's syrup, but this is what they had. Service was good and my waitress worked hard to keep my very small coffee cup filled. At 7:30 on a weekday, only some of the place was open and the better tables towards the back were "closed because that server hasn't started yet." Absolutely awful experience. I've been here many times and it's never been this dismal. Never coming back. Waited a while to even be acknowledged. My dad is 90 and uses a walker and can't stand for long periods of time. He'd already walked up the long ramp to get in and waited for seating. When someone finally came to seat us, they started talking about someone named Brooke. I finally chimed in politely that my dad needed to be seated as he couldn't stand very long. They told us to hold on. My dad wanted to be seated on the left side as it was a shorter walk and closer to the bathroom. The hostess thought he wanted the closest available seat and put the 4 of us in this small booth. I asked for a larger booth closer to the bathroom as it was open. She got frustrated and mumbled about having put us where my dad wanted and made a big deal about picking up the menus and moving us as we all apologized and she continued to grumble. The waitress showed zero interest in being polite and had no warmth towards us whatsoever. She didn't care at all. She had to give us more time to look at the menu to decide. She was obviously annoyed. That happened three times as my 90 yr old dad had trouble deciding between these 3 enormous menus crammed with LOTS of options. When she took our order, she seemed disinterested at best, annoyed at worst. When she brought the soups for my brother and me, she never brought napkins. When the food finally came out, my mom's cold (as it says on the menu) shrimp salad sandwich was warm. Also, the "kaiser" rolls are sweet buns, not kaiser rolls. My dad's sandwich looked disgusting and was piled high with fries. We had to show him where the sandwich was because he couldn't even see it under all the fries. The side veggies were canned and gross. The waitress did not check on us once, or refill our waters ever, yet the entire staff, including her, was huddled together talking most of the night. We could overhear it was not about the work at hand. For a Saturday night, it was not even close to busy. At check out, I waited staring at the back of the hostess to be acknowledged before someone else came up and started working on a different bill. Then, they acknowledged me and giggled as if to say, "oh, there's a person there and it's my job to attend to them." She ended up being a little nice and splitting the bill, gratuity already included. I stupidly added a few bucks to each as they only added 15% (and I felt guilty not adding more with the check out person right there, stupid I know, especially with such crappy service). Got back to the table and found they had overcharged us for my mom's sandwich. They charged her for the deluxe. She got the regular. $3 extra but we were too annoyed to deal with it and just wanted to get out of there. Finally, the AC was pretty low on a very hot and humid Baltimore night. Much cooler in the little hallway leading the bathroom. I'm.going to copy and paste this review and email it to them. Never going back again. We were there on Saturday, August 6th, 2022 around 8:00 PM. There's nothing so crappy as coming back home from out of town to visit your elderly folks and going out to dinner and paying already jacked up prices for so-so food, crappy service, and a really icky experience where you just feel like you're a burden instead of a customer without whom they would all be out of work and there'd be no restaurant. Had a not so great meal at this diner in Baltimore. The service was nothing special. They had a big menu but nothing I tasted was great. They have full bar so I had a vodka tonic and it seemed watered down. Then I had a salad and the blue cheese dressing was watery and not what I like. I had the chicken and rice soup and it was ok. It was probably what I liked the most from the whole experience. I had the chicken and while it looked good and wasn't too great. It was dry and I hate dry chicken. Decided to come here late night tonight with my friend when I arrived in Maryland. The diner is huge, with an ample amount of parking and a sign that's impossible to miss. So I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs with a side of grits and a biscuit and she ordered the double ts breakfast platter with scrapple. The food was alright, probably below average compared to many other diners I have been to though. The eggs I got scrambled soft with cheddar and that was probably the most enjoyable. The eggs were probably a little over cooked for my liking but A for effort and making it at least somewhat soft. I liked the grits also, I had to add salt and pepper and butter, but that's only obvious, and it wasn't an excessive amount. The chicken fried steak was meh...to say the least. It was such a tiny piece for the price I was definitely expecting something just a little bigger. The gravy came on the side, and I am so glad it did because I did not like the gravy at all in terms of flavor. The home fries were a major disappointment, they were super bland, absolutely no flavor and the potatoes didn't even have any color to them, I kind of questioned if they even cooked it fully. Lastly, the biscuit...it was huge, it even looked pretty good. BUT it was so dense, it made it difficult to eat. The blandness didn't really help either so I just ate the layer I put butter on and called it a day. All around, I don't think I would choose to come back here but if you are in the area and need a place open after 1 in the morning, this will probably be your best bet read more

My mom ordered a meal for delivery. Parts of her order were missing. I called and was told flatly, there is nothing we can do. An elderly sweet lady doesn't get a complete meal and they don't care or offer to make any amends. When I visit there the bathroom is completely filthy. There are straws and napkins strewn everywhere, so I know it is an uncaring staff. Came to this diner yesterday with a sister-friend who had never been here before. I've been visiting here for years at various times during the day. She was in the mood for breakfast food, only she was also met with a big surprise - a waiter by the name of Wayne Watkins. He made our experience exceptional. Not only were our Belgian waffles and eggs perfect, his service was top notch and impressive! He was attentive and had a very light sense of humor. Mr. Watkins was professional and his attitude didn't seem manufactured. Wayne made my companion feel so comfortable that she vowed to come back soon. Sadly, but easily the worst diner meal I've ever eaten. I am kicking myself for not sending back the food. I felt bad for the waiter because he was new and really struggling. He did not seem capable of doing the job, so I didn't want to make it harder on him. I ordered the breakfast club, which on the menu says it's bacon, american cheese, and eggs on toast with potatoes. Sounds basic enough that no place could mess it up. I ordered it, the waiter said he never heard of it, despite the fact that he works there and also said he's been a customer of the diner for over 20 years. He comes back a few minutes later and asks if I wanted scrambled eggs and cheddar on the sandwich. I said sure. A few minutes later I get served a sandwich with lettuce, tomato, mayo, over hard eggs, and bacon. I knew I should have sent that back, but again, I felt bad for him and the sorry state of the food there. I took off the tomato, lettuce and mayo and ate a quarter of the sandwich. Needless to say, it was disgusting. My wife ordered pancakes and bacon, which wasn't much better. The bacon we received was hard but chewy instead of crispy, and stringy with weird dark grayish/red color. Even if I received the original and correct order of bacon, american cheese, and eggs on toast, it still would have been disgusting because the quality of the food is terrible. The order comes with potatoes, which I assume would have been home fries since it's a breakfast item, but the waiter said he forgot to ask me so he brought me french fries. Again, it was too late and I was all in for this pathetic meal, so I let it go. Also, this place adds 15 percent tip on any meal over $30. I'm not sure how my wife's pancakes and my gross sandwich came to $30, but it did. I probably would have tipped 20 percent just because it's what I usually do and I felt sorry for the guy that had no idea how to do his job. I imagine there are a lot of disappointed customers so they had to that add charge or the waiters would be stuck getting nothing. The place is also filthy. Each table has full plates of butter, syrup, jams, jellies etc., but on our table the plastic container of syrup spilled on the plate so all of the butter, jams, and jellies were stuck together in a hardened mess. My wife told the waiter she new needs syrup for her pancakes, since the syrup they gave us was already spilled all over the plate. Instead of removing this gross plate, he tells her he'll bring her the "good stuff". The good stuff was just a couple packets of something called Kraft pancake syrup. The booth seats are ripped, lumpy, and uncomfortable. To my surprise, it was pretty busy, so I guess people enjoy it there. Went back after 8 years. So the good first: -appeared fairly clean -polite host/seated right away Bad -although we were seated right away the waitress did not come to the table for a good 10 minutes. Establishment was fairly empty, so it was not busy -made errors with a very simple order -cheese burger "deluxe" came with nine fries. -now they are charging 15% tip on your bill. So, my waitress didn't "feel" earning more tip. -It appeared to be VERY EXPENSIVE now, just like everything else. So don't expect to be a Value just because it's a diner. My fiance and I didn't drink any of it and tried to get the alcohol removed. the woman who checked us out said "we don't take off alcohol." I have never heard of that in my life. When I moved back to Baltimore, I was so happy to find that this place was still in business. It used to be a weekend staple to eat here when I used to live in Reisterstown and so I wanted my husband to experience it too. The prices have always been reasonable, the portions large and yummy, and the service wonderful. We've been here twice since I moved back. The first time we came, I had a coughing fit and our server was kind enough to bring me hot water and lemon and tell me to stop drinking my coffee to help curb the attack. This time there were no issues with coughing, but my husband did leave his wallet and the staff had it set aside for him when we finally got back there to get it. However, the food, while good, was not as great on this trip. I had lox and bagels with a side of breakfast potatoes. The potatoes tasted like they were reheated from the day before and my salmon was cut way too thick. Also, I was given cream cheese in packets and I had to assemble everything myself. Not cool. Especially since my plate cost $15. My husband had a hot ham and cheese, which he loved, with a side of fries and cream of crab soup, which he also enjoyed. I would give double t diner 4 stars but their service can really suck sometimes. It is 24 hours so that is always a plus for me but the late night crowd can be very rowdy on the weekends especially. I have been going to this diner for about 20 years so I know what I'm talking about. It is owned and run by Greek people so there is a strong presence of Greek inspired dishes on the menu. They also have wonderful homemade soups that change daily but when they run out for the day that's it. They have a huge menu but i stick to the breakfast dishes (which are served all day) and daily specials. read more

Visited several weeks ago and a mouse ran across the dining area near where we were seated and several ladies near us stood up on their booth seats and screamed and ran out. Another party of 12 that had not been served yet walked out. We stayed though the whole ordeal but some things are hard to unsee. A staff member came in and scooped up the mouse and left with it. I think this is an old building that is not cleaned very well. Our waitperson seemed untrained and not at all attentive, hostess person and staff in general appear unfriendly, food mediocre coffee bitter. We should've walked out when we noticed all the dirty dishes piled up on filthy tables. I really should've skedaddled out after taking a bite of my well done burger which I ordered medium. When the check came I told our I needed to speak to the manager. This server started into me calling me a witch. I never raised my voice I never was threatening. Three times she got in my face to call me a witch. That's when I'd had enough.
