So the manager called the police on my family for sending our uneaten food back. He said "you can't choose what to pay for." The food was bland, warm and not up to my standards, I asked the waitress Me: What happens if we don't like our food? Waitress: send it back, do you want something else? Me: No thank you Waitress: ok, let me get my manager Manager: Its perfectly good food, why don't you like it? The manager's presence, tone, and approach was way out of line. He did not greet me, introduce himself, or ask me if something was wrong with the food. After he was loud and rude, my husband stepped in and explained his tone and approach will not be tolerated and he'd have a conversation with him after he finished his waffle (my husband ate his waffle and my toddler ate his french toast). After finishing his waffle, my husband went to get a check for his food and my toddler's food (not mine or our oldest son), manager called the police and told them we didn't want to pay. After 3 Laurel Police officers showed up, we ended up only paying for the food we consumed and we still tipped the waitress. Truly disappointed because I've been a resident of Laurel for over 15 years so I'm familiar with the employees of the places we dine and shop but this place here, will never receive any support from my family again. I'm actually really disappointed in this restaurant. I was really excited because my brother just started working here, however the food was over priced and it didn't even taste good. Also my milkshake didn't take like a shake. It was literally strawberry milk. The waitress, not sure if she was new to the game or not but she didn't know what I was talking about when I asked for real eggs. She didn't bring to go bags with our boxes, nor a to go cup for my drink knowing that we were leaving. I end up leaving without pancake syrup, forks, jelly nothing! My family & I grabbed breakfast here for the first time since it changed from Silver Diner. We were regulars there growing up and I'm happy to say that the new owners made us just as happy! Breakfast was good. I enjoyed my Belgian waffle with strawberries, & our server was very attentive & patient with our large group. The manager/part-owner came by toward the end & told us about their journey to becoming Double T diner, after learning that we were regulars. He sent me home with a free slice of the most delicious homemade cheesecake! I only got three bites once the family got to it, but it was really good! LoL Give them a chance. Any establishment can have an off day. They truly seem to want to do right by their customers, & keep them well fed & happy. We'll definitely be back soon! read more

I thought that, when the old Silver Diner was refurbished into a Double T, that it would be as good as the one in Catonsville or Ellicott City. It wasn't. There were a few shortcomings I have noticed after a couple of visits: 1) The high volume of people who stand around doing nothing. 2) The lack of attention to detail when it comes to serving; being unable to bring out a salad before an entree and side dishes way after the entree is plated is a complete and utter codswallop. The cooks are, apparently, not reading the orders. Inexcusable. 3) The inability to cook an omelet correctly. I cannot believe that what I received could be called anything other than a frittata. 4) The desserts look delicious, but the waitstaff don't seem to have the time or inclination to sell them to the patrons. 5) If there isn't an egg in it, it's not a Caesar's salad. It's just a side salad with Caesar dressing. Maybe it will take some time for the management of the place to fall together, but it doesn't look very promising at the moment. Gods, even the greasy spoon near the train station is more appetizing. read more

This restaurant is usually ok. I've been here only a handful of time, food was ok, service was never the best but the cashier this time was very rude, I believe she is one of the manager. She started quizzing us on our order to try and not give us a discount clearly stated on the menu. Begrudgingly giving us only one of the discounts and was very scornful, unwelcoming and disrespectful while we were trying to pay for our meal. With the overpriced food, mediocre service and stingy management (a whopping $3 if we had even gotten both discounts). We will not be returning and do not recommend this restaurant. read more

I looked forward to trying double T Diner. Yes, you get a huge portion size of your meal, at a decent price. But, I ordered a Patty Melt. How is it possible to receive a patty melt, that is a burger, cheese, grilled onions, and buttered Rye bread, that is as dry as a rock? It came with decent fries, and a soup, shimp bisque, where the shrimp was overcooked and grainy. This is more of a cafeteria than it is a diner. read more

I went to the diner with some friends and noticed the patty melt on the menu, ordered it and it was perfect. Two days later I went back with other friends and ordered the patty melt again since it had been so outstanding the first time. Wrong. The rye bread was almost burnt on the down side where it couldn't be seen and the meat was so overcooked it was not fit to eat. The chocolate shake was so small - smaller than a water glass - not close to worth the money they charge. The server was so nice and embarrassed with the whole situation but there was nothing she could do but apologize. We tried to complain to the manager but he just walked away. The restaurant is nice and clean and seats more than the old diner did, or it looks that way. I will go back again and order breakfast as all the others with me ordered breakfast and were satisfied. Maybe after they get over the "opening jitters" everything will get better. I loved Silver Diner and ate there several times a week - was hoping that would be the case with Double T and maybe it will after everything settles down - I sure hope so. read more

I am a veteran...never got the opportunity to taste the food, but most other Double T Diners in Maryland have been pleasant with good food. I went to the Double T Diner in Laurel, MD on Veterans Day 2019 and waited over 45 minutes for my food to be delivered; watching other patrons next to me arrive, eat and depart. When asked about the meal the waiter suggested it was coming soon. Another time he had retaken our order and lastly stated we had a special order omelet of no cheese, which delayed the order. Again, it was Veteran's Day and I assured my wife I was not upset, but wanted to talk to the Manager to see how she could compensate us for the long wait. When I explained not getting food after 45 minutes and how we could be compensated for the delay...she looked at me and said with a dismissive tone, "You know I am busy! What do you want me to do about it...your food should be out soon!" Now I was angry and at this point I did not argue, but packed up and departed. Now I understand getting behind, making mistakes, but when you outright treat your customers disrespectful, especially celebrating Veterans Day for me...this is unacceptable. I will never again patronize the Laurel Double T diner. read more

Awful experience. Food was decent. Service was horrible. After being seated, we had to wait 20 minutes before anyone even came over to ask us what we wanted to drink. It wasn't even that busy to warrant that. Our server was extremely rude and didn't bring 2 of the items we ordered. I had to remind her to bring my french fries for my sandwich. One of our sides never came and we didn't even bother asking for it. Also my meal came about 10 minutes before my moms food which was awkward. My boyfriend and I came to check out the new Diner. We were greeted, and immediately seated. Of to a great start! I saw a familiar face from SD, chatted it up a little, then our waitress came. She was pretty knowledgeable of the menu. I ordered lunch, shrimp sandwich. My bf ordered breakfast, country fried steak. I personally wanted to change from chips to sweet potato fries, but not for $3 (I think that was the price, either way, it was over $1) The sandwich was DELICIOUS! My bf enjoyed his entree as well, with the only compliant being the preparation of his eggs. Looked more like an omelette and not scrambled. Now on to service...as stated before, our waitress was knowledgeable of the menu...when she was around. She didn't really check on us, I had to ask another waiter for our water refill, and of course she showed up in time to bring the check. As we were leaving, four or five individuals, (hostesses, cashier, manager, etc) were all standing by the exit, and no one said "thank you for coming" or "please come again", nada... just blank stares. The service was friendly and ok. The food was disappointing. The fries were stale, the strawberries were old and mealy (in fresh fruit season), and it's a disappointment after what used to be here (Silver Diner). The dessert ordered was so disappointing we had it taken off the bill. The Silver Diner had several vegetarian and vegan options that were good. The Double T has basically no options aside from a pasta dish and maybe oatmeal. My companions dinner was similarly just ok, but honestly not worth the trek out. Since this place opened up, I have only received hot pancakes once. I always have to send them back to either get them microwaved (which the manager suggested) or for fresher ones (usually a little bit warmer than the cold ones). Looks like I will put this place on hold until they improve, until then, I will start back going to the Annapolis location. The only reason I am giving this new diner in laurel as high as 2 stars is because the staff is friendly and professional. This was my first time at this diner, excited laurel was getting a new breakfast option. I ordered a basic egg, bacon, hash brown, toast breakfast. How could a place mess up such a basic breakfast? I could barely eat it. While they offered a healthy amount of food...the hash browns took up half the plate and there were 4 nice large pieces of crisp bacon, I never knew until now how a restaurant could possibly mess up breakfast. Ive been to many breakfast places and while one may not like how certain things are cooked or what spices are used, ive never had a bad breakfast meal out until now. The hash browns were just potatoes...ONLY potatoes. No seasoning, nothing like onions or anything that would help one feel like you were not just eating a cooked potato with nothing on it. The bacon looked appetitizing but had a slight after taste which even as a big bacon fan caused me to leave most of the bacon untouched. The toast was just that...a couple pieces of dry toast popped in a toaster. I understand some may not like when a restaurant puts butter on the toast but as a result the toast was dry even after I managed to put some hard butter on it. Maybe this was just a bad day and maybe other people like breakfast food like this but for me, I expect breakfast food to be a bit more tasty. My fiance and I decided to try this diner out and I realize I should have read the reviews before going. As alot of people have expressed the food is BLAND. It has absolutely no seasoning. I got the stuff Louis burger. It comes with grilled onions mushrooms and mozzarella cheese. No salt. No pepper at least. My fiances burger same. BLAND. I don't understand why they aren't seasoning their burgers.. Why????? It needs it so dry so forgettable. Also over cooked my burger as well. The only flavorful thing we got was the lemon chicken soup and lentil soup. Those were both wonderful and very tasty and is the only thing we would even CONSIDER going back for. Its super pricy for bland food. I only gave it 2 stars for our waitress. She was friendly and absolutely wonderful. That star is all hers and she makes awesome Shirley temples! read more

We ordered silver dollar pancakes, they were good enough for the kids. The bacon for the kids was crispy and yummy. The mozzarella sticks were clearly out of a massive frozen bag of sticks, there was nothing to rave about there. My sandwich was average, it was a jalapeno chicken sandwich. Very dry, there was supposed to be cheddar cheese, did not see or taste it, the jalapeno's were pickled not fresh, no mayo, sauce or any thing to combine the sandwich. The omelet for my husband was below average. By the looks of it and taste of it, I could have made it at home in a matter of minutes. Overall, the servers were nice and helpful. I just left 5 minutes ago and the food is nasty! My boyfriend and I ordered chocolate milk and orange juice. When we got our drinks the chocolate milk was not chocolate milk at all and the orange juice was warm and nasty. I ordered the double t special. I got scrambled eggs with cheese, sausage, home fries and 2 pancakes. The scrambled eggs were .. ugh so nasty. They put American slice cheese on top of the eggs, they weren't seasoned or salted. The home-fries were undercooked and over cooked at the same time.. no flavor at all. No matter what I added they were still nasty. The pancakes were OKAY. The sausage was white and undercooked. My boyfriend ordered an omelette that was way over cooked and hard but the onions were still raw.. how!? His home-fries were just as bad as mine. When my waiter asked if everything was okay, I told him I did not like my food at all and he told me he was going to get the manager.. the manager comes over and asks me what was wrong and I told him I do no like the food at all. He asked me what was wrong with it and I explained everything to him and he looked at me like I was stupid. He said these are real eggs I'm like okay? They're still nasty and I don't think I should be paying for it. So he took my food and charged me for the pancakes and drink and still charged my boyfriend for his entire meal. read more

We loved our breakfast!! Best pancakes ever! Bacon was crisp and NO longer oinking. My over easy eggs were yellow and white...not that crispy brown that comes with over cooking and a too hot grill. The staff was very friendly, the place was super clean, and the food, including desserts, were outstanding. We are planning to keep on visiting this place. Not sure why the ratings are so low. Stopped by for the first time a couple nights ago. Staff is friendlier than other Double T's we visited. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Food was delicious. Had dinner and our selections were great. Prices were about the same as everyone else in the area. No such thing as a cheap meal anymore. But we felt it was reasonable. Since its brand new the place is really clean and very spacious inside. We intend to return for breakfast soon. read more

So we just had to check the "new" place. Double T Diner recently opened in the old Silver Diner spot. The place serves comfort food and the food is well prepared. The food was kinda on the pricey side. We had nothing out of the ordinary, a club sandwich and an omelet with coffee & iced tea...$36. I think for that much we could find a nice white tablecloth restaurant next time. I was totally looking for this to be my go-to place. That ain't gonna happen, sorry to say. I have spoken to 2 of the owners/managers, they didn't seem to care about my concerns. The food is rather bland, no seasonings at all- that's the way their customers like it? The home fries really need some serious help, other than just salt and pepper. I find the prices to be a bit higher than I would expect for a diner. Are they trying to pay for the remodeling all at once. Laurel is known for making or breaking many food places. They need to train their help a little more, survey what this location wants and needs, listen to the people. The chain can't live on its other locations reputations. read more

The food was amazing I came in Wednesday afternoon and was greeted by the host(Catherine) wonderful young lady she was polite and friendly and the whole time I was observing she had a bright smile and a wonderful personality after she brought me to my table my server was a young man(David) my husband and I Sat down and in a minute he came over introduced himself and brought over our drink and took my husband order and mine as-well he was also very polite and friendly , he was very quick my food.My food was out in about 5 min max I was really surprised because he was busy and the business was also very busy ,but he was a wonderful server . This place is coming into its own. We just made my 4th visit, and having had a few problems with the place directly after it opened, the Double T seems to be working itself into a groove and will eventually be a top local place for grabbing a quick bite. Unlike other reviewers, I do not think this place is overpriced for the amount of food you get, but note that our only experience has been with the breakfast entrees. We never leave hungry after eating breakfast at Double T. Another thing to keep in mind is that this is NOT the Silver Diner. If you want Silver Diner-type food, go find a Silver Diner, which in my opinion, is not a true diner no matter how much stainless steel and formica they put in and on the place. read more

I finally decided to try the double T diner - it was a beautiful Sunday morning. I was seated promptly and greeted with a smile. That's unusual these days. My server was awesome keeping my coffee (which was good) warm and making sure I needed. I ordered two eggs over easy(which the did right!), 2 bacon (flaccid), 2 sausage(good)-hash browns, and upgraded to a Belgian Waffle. I was so excited about the waffle- when it came the top was beautiful but the condensation from the steam made the bottom soggy and inedible for me. I picked at it trying to salvage some of that beautiful crispness- to find the inside just barely cooked- it was doughy. Halfway through my breakfast someone from the staff said he needed to close the blinds because it was too bright. I told him oh no it's ok I like the light. He said another customer complained about it...and closed the blinds leaving me to sit with my flaccid bacon, soggy waffle ....in the darkness. Wow I thought I was a customer too! My first visit started well- and like my water told another waitresses- people can go anywhere for eggs and bacon, you have to make their(customer's) visit special - smile.... With no fault to him... This may have been the worst food I have ever been forced to pay for. I will explain "forced" in a moment. When we received our food it was cold, dry and tasteless. the cheese sat on the eggs like a plastic cover. We asked the waitress "could we return the food and have it removed", she said sure let me get my manager because you shouldn't have to pay for food that's not good. When the manager arrived to our table my wife asked can she return her food and my oldest son food because of the condition and taste. This poor excuse for a manager raised his voice at my wife, became rude and then told us that he will not be removing it from our bill and its breakfast food and he didn't mess it up. I told him sir the food is not good and we would like to return it and have it removed from the bill. It was has not been eaten. He replied no! You cant order something and send it back! I told him look I am not paying for the two orders so adjust my bill and I will pay for the French toast and the waffles that my toddler child and myself ate. after waiting a few minutes I went to the register to get my bill and they still gave me the bill with everything on it. I told them I was not paying for the uneaten food and the manager told me never to bring my face in here again and called the Laurel police dept. on me and my family. He told them that I was being rude and disruptive and refusing to pay. When the police arrived many of the patrons in the restaurant went up to them outside and stated how rude and unprofessional the manager was. After the police talked to the both of us, he came back with the bill and I was instructed to pay it by the laurel police anyway and to never return. I advise you to never go here take your business else where. There are a number of restaurants up and down this stretch of Baltimore Ave in Laurel that would greatly appreciate your business and show better hospitality. read more
