Delicious meal and our server Miguel was amazing we both had his recommendation and loved it. Fun atmosphere where you can play games, pool, shuffleboard... We had plenty of tv screens also and watched FIFA futball in a fun venue! Perfect for a fun date night!

Had a great experience at Double Take! Very modern and chic atmosphere. It's the bar in the Hotel Palomar, and you can tell it was recently renovated. I received stellar service from our waitress, Rosa. Cocktails were well-balanced and delicious. We also enjoyed the appetizers. I highly recommend the fish tacos. Food and drinks were affordable. Cocktails are $10 during happy hour, and around $14-16 regular price. This might be my new favorite spot to grab a drink after work!

Honestly, as far as hotel restaurants go, this place was very good. Strong menu with a variety of options for lunch and dinner. Staff was polite. This space mixed in well with the rest of the first floor of the hotel. We ordered a steak sandwich and a chicken Caesar salad. Flavor of the chicken Caesar was good. It could've used more dressing and it would have been nice for the chicken to be cut up and tossed in with the salad. Also would probably be better in a bowl than on a flat plate. The steak sandwich was actually amazing. Very well executed. Steak was done to my liking. Huge cut of meat for a sandwich (it was like a full strip steak). Sauce and veggies were good. Bread could have been thinner. Fries on the side were excellent

The Double Take at the Kimpton Palomar Hotel in Westwood has great food! I stayed here for 12 days and tried almost everything on the menu - the breakfast sandwich, the roasted chicken, steak, salmon tacos, poke, shrimp and lobster pasta, lobster salad, salmon, chicken sandwich, the burger, Caesar salad - all prepared beautifully and delicious! The service staff was so kind and prompt. I highly recommend Double Take!

Beyond incredible! Quality happens at double take by the Kimpton! Had the pleasure of getting helped by the wonderful Rosa, she is the representation of what excellence is!! She made sure my order was spectacular. This makes me look forward to coming back here. The seating options were great. Located inside the kimpton hotel, gorgeous lighting, beautiful bar area, very impressed by their seating and they have fund areas!!!! Like games and a tv, making your experience super enjoyable. I am very impressed by how amazing Rosa is, she makes this place warm and very easy to enjoy. She definitely stood out more than the front desk representatives!!! I am a proud client at the kimpton and Rosa is a perfect example of why i love being a client at the kimpton. Looking forward to coming here again!

Omg! This place is finally opened! We tried coming here twice during the pandemic. 1st thing we asked for is the Smoked Whisky or Old Fashioned. They are not serving it in the summer. Please bring it back in Fall or serve all year long. Robert, the bartender is awesome! He recommended the Desperado and let us try the house made syrup. It's the best cocktail I had in a while. Now I am all looking for Mexican candies! Def coming back!

    Egg Sandwich on Biscuit

Double Take is a restaurant in the Kimpton Palomar hotel. We're fans of the Kimpton brand having stayed at a number of their hotels all over the U.S. They're a great boutique hotel chain with benefits you get used to, such as the complimentary wine hour at 5pm. We were here for brunch, far too early to take advantage of the free wine hour, but to be fair we didn't realize when we picked the restaurant that it was located in a Kimpton...so walking in to the lobby was a pleasant and familiar surprise. I had the egg sandwich choosing biscuit for the bread, with white cheddar cheese and no the sausage. It came with hash browns and a salad. The biscuit was perfectly crunchy on the outside and fine on the inside but seemed like it may have been reheated. (Am I the only one who has a sixth sense for when biscuits have been reheated?) It tasted good but the cheese needed more of a presence. The hash browns looked great. You'll definitely salivate looking at them...They were tasty on the inside though, perhaps, a little more greasy than I wanted. There also wasn't salt and pepper at the table which I definitely needed for these.. My wife had the Grain Bowl which we had to send back as it came topped with parmesan cheese...my wife doesn't eat dairy and the menu didn't list parmesan as an ingredient. I'm a big fan of menus that list all the visible ingredients of a dish...so unfortunately we had to send it back to get them to redo it without it. The dish looked beautiful either way, the mushrooms were delicious, but in the end it was very barley heavy...the other ingredients needed more of a presence to add more flavor to this dish. It definitely wasn't busy when we were there so i guess brunch, at least on a Saturday around noon isn't so much of a thing...but they did only have one person working there handling the coffee counter and waiting tables so service, in particular when we had to alert them about the Grain Bowl was a bit slow. On the plus side there's all kinds of fun games to play in adjacent rooms, including a full sized pool table and skeeball, that are all free to use, so you're bound to have a good time when you're there.

I'll preface everything below with the fact that there were only 3 tables of customers in the restaurant and several bar and wait staff. It was NOT busy. The service is terrible. We were greeted and seated quickly. The girl getting our water could not remember if we ordered ice or not. Two trips later, the three of us had water. Our server approached us quickly but we were not ready to order. From this point on, it was like we were invisible. We ordered one appetizer (Guacamole Fresca w/ chips), a burger and the short rib grilled cheese. Our entrees were served ahead of our chips and guacamole when I commented, we were told they were still working on the appetizer. Seems odd that it takes more time to serve chips and guacamole than it does to prepare the entrees. No apology or acknowledgement from any staff members. My beer glass and my son's water glass sat empty for 10 minutes. When we asked for refills, it took nearly another 10 minutes to receive the beverages. Our server NEVER came to check on us. We were NEVER asked how we were doing or if we wanted dessert. When asking for our check, the server had to bypass us twice and then told us that we had to fill out the receipt before the card could be run. In a city with so many dining choices, service is as important as food quality and taste. The new management has work to do or this will be another failed restaurant. We will NOT be returning.

Now the food.... well that's the whole reason I'm writing this! I'm used to having dry af salmon at restaurants but this place blew my mind! I didn't know you were able to have your salmon cooked medium rare or well (like a normal steak), so when I was asked that I was taken back. I believed I chose on having it cooked medium. The whole dish -- flaky salmon, creamy cauliflower smash, well seasoned greens -- was an experience from start to finish. I haven't had a salmon dish that delicious in AGES!! Someone in the kitchen got down that day, so hats off to the chef! My fam was satisfied & they enjoyed their dishes as well. Unfortunately there was a mishap where some appetizers weren't brought out but we resolved that. The waiter was attentive & kind (and really handsome lol) I really wish I remembered his name, but he made the experience memorable as well. He was kind enough to step away from his duties to take a few group photos of my family. I'll def come back again, and next time I'll try their drinks!

The menu tonight is themed with a movie playing at the Hammer. So it's not the normal fare. But from what I understand, they do a different prix fix menu every night, in addition to their normal offerings. This meal was wonderful. The first course was a poblano chile filled with a walnut based stuffing. It was delicate and brilliant. It was also a dish from the movie that was served at a wedding and everyone fell in love. The main was a medley of different seafoods (scallops, shrimp, clams, and tilefish) with vegetables (hominy, garlic, avocado, onion, and chile) and a lovely broth that was deconstructed and wonderful. The dessert was just enough too. It seemed to be inspired by the wedding cake from an early scene in the movie. Really great. The service is perfect. The waitperson was friendly and helpful. We also tried the bluefin bibimbap, oysters, and the oh-so-tender short rib that practically melted in our mouths. But the most unforgettable dish was also the simplest: the Korean fried chicken. My friend and I ordered the soy marinated prawns, beef tartare stone pot rice, creamy chicken soup, Wagyu beef soft tofu soup. The prawns were nicely marinated in a slightly sweet slightly salty soy sauce, and came paired with some barley and seaweed to make mini wraps. Delicious and a nice way to start the meal. The creamy chicken soup was indeed very creamy and smooth but the bowl is really small and would've been better with a higher soup to noodle ratio since the noodles soaked up the yummy soup. The tofu soup was surprisingly bland even though it was very red. It could've used more umami flavor or spice - something to jazz it up since the tofu, egg, and beef itself were not seasoned. My favorite dish of the night was the steak tartare stone pot rice. It came with a lot of veggies that helped balance out the sauce and I'm a sucker for crispy rice. However, the rice itself wasn't seasoned thoroughly as some spots had absolutely delicious sauce while other spots were bland. And the sauce wasn't a part of the tartare on top so it wasn't a mixing issue. The staff are kind and attentive, even with us being tucked away in the back corner and hidden by a curtain panel.

We started with guacamole and empanadas before moving on to tacos. The Baja Style Fish Tacos were a favorite, with crisp fish, fresh slaw, and chipotle aioli. I also had the Grilled Prime New York Taco, and the steak was cooked really well and stayed tender. With the caramelized onion, guacamole, and salsa fresca, it had plenty of flavor without feeling overloaded.
