Red velvet bubble waffle with strawberry ice cream

Very cozy and fresh! The waffles were very tasty and not too sweet! Service was great. Although it was one person she spent her time making sure the order was made to perfect ! Will visit again!

Their waffle ice cream is sooo good. Got the ube with Oreo, pocky, and condensed milk. It was amazing, chewy, warm, and crispy. I'd definitely get it again if I'm in the area!

I love love love ice cream, so I HAD to try Double Three! The first time I came, I got the Matcha bubble waffle with an Ube Scoop, topped with Oreos and Mini Marshmallows. I will say that if you have a small appetite and you're with a friend who also has a small appetite, you should share your bubble waffle cone because I definitely couldn't finish mine! The bubble waffle was so yummy and fresh, and the Ube was definitely a strong Ube flavor and the combination couldn't be more perfect to me! I will say that in terms of toppings, it was a bit scarce and the oreo chunks could've been smaller, but it was an amazing dessert nevertheless! The second time I came, I came for their bubble tea to pair with my Little Sparrow bowl on the way back to my friend's house, and WOW, I 100% love their bubble tea! The tea I opted for was the Yuzu Passion Fruit Tea, and at 75% sweetness, it was JUST perfect for me, with its sweetness and fruity flavor. I will say that if you're in a rush, I would not come here if you see a line. In the two times I've visited, there's only been one employee working both the register and making the ice cream and bubble tea, so the wait is always pretty long. Also because there's only ever one employee, the interaction isn't always super helpful if you have questions and what not, especially if there are a ton of people ordering, which I understand! I definitely would stop by Double Three if you're a bubble waffle, ice cream, and/or bubble tea enthusiast! You'll walk away with something you can absolutely rave about :)

I was craving Double 3 soft serve ice cream and freshly made bubble waffles so we drove all the way out to Kaneohe for it! I have never been to this location and it's been a long time since I've had the one in town so I was shocked and disappointed to find out that soft serve wasn't an option. The store was small and smelled of dog when I first walked in. It was visually clean so I was surprised by the smell. There were just 2 young ladies working. They were friendly and efficient with service. The bubble waffles were as delicious as I remembered but the ice cream just didn't hit the spot. The kids ordered a couple drinks, I tasted both and they were good. Overall I would probably not return because I am hardly ever in this area and prefer soft serve.

Easy place to find. Lots of parking within walking distance. We parked near longs. Very small little shop with inside seating and a bench outside as well. Friendly staff but I think they usually only have 1-2 people working at a time so when a big group comes in be patient with your order. If they didn't have that little paper to tell you how to order everyone would be completely lost so that made it way easier for us. The waffle was great and freshly made. Ice cream was good and tons of toppings to choose from. Presentation and taste for me is 10/10 it's just a little pricey for me. For 2 waffle ones and 2 cups it came out to $50ish and we still gave a little tip so about $60 for 4 of us. We live in north shore so we figure we try something out on this side so for us it was still worth it.

My boyfriend and I shared a plain waffle with cookies and cream ice cream. Delicious! Love the rotating flavors and the waffle is exceptionally delicious! They make the dessert to-order and with care. I highly recommend sharing one, as it's a lot for one person. Plenty of free parking behind and seating inside as well as outside. I don't believe they have a restroom for customers. Friendly staff.

The place is small & quaint, but there was enough room for me and my family of 6 to enjoy our own cones. Their bubble waffles with ice cream and toppings were a hit with my cousins. I loved the chocolate bubble waffle. I also was able to try one of their signature teas "Sea Salted Cream Tea", sooo good! The service was great even tho there was only one worker. She made all of our cones in a timely manner and presentation was on point with pictures.

While visiting my college friends during Thanksgiving break, they took us to Double Three for an afternoon treat. OMG! Who can pass up on bubble waffles?!? There's a parking area so no need to park on the street. It's a small but a cute shop. You have to fill out an order form and then they'll perpetrate your order. You pick the type of waffle, ice cream flavor, and topping(s). We had: -Original waffle with vanilla ice cream, bananas and strawberries, and strawberry syrup -Chocolate waffle with vanilla ice cream, fruity pebbles and Nutella syrup The bubble waffles were delicious. Light, fluffy, you can easily pull each one apart, and the corner is crispy. The soft serve ice cream was rich and yummy. This is a perfect afternoon dessert on a hot day.

Yummy! The location in Kailua is in a strip of shops with a parking lot nearby. There is limited seating but it is in a cute area to walk around with your bubble waffle. Every time we have been, our order has been taken swiftly. It takes a bit of time to make the bubble waffle since it seems that it might be made to order. We got the bubble waffle with strawberry ice cream, sprinkles, and cookies. It was good -- very straightforward and delicious. A great spot for a dessert!

Nice spot in Kailua, the waffle cones are made fresh which is super nice! You can also choose what flavor ice cream and toppings you want! If you're looking for a sweet treat in the area I would recommend!

We ordered chocolate, macadamia nut, Strawberry on different waffles. They were all delicious! Highly recommend trying.

My husband and I love the crystal grape tea boba drink here. We always get it every time but we just came by tonight and ordered 3 large crystal grape tea boba drinks. All 3 of them did not taste or look how it normally does and it had slices of lime in it, which is normally not in the drink either. I can't even get myself to finish it. Hopefully this doesn't happen again because we actually love Double Three

Our order was the original bubble waffle, chocolate ice cream, sprinkles, cotton candy, and chocolate sauce. The bubble waffle was okay tasting. Taste similar to other bubble waffles on island. Definitely not like Hong Kong's bubble waffles. The ice cream was good, rich, and a generous amount. Topped with regular sprinkles and their cotton candy was smooshed into balls which my kids didn't like since it was hard and not the cotton candy texture of cotton. It was a fun tasty treat but for around $9 (all non-extra costing choices) I found it a bit steep for the price. read more

Second time back and now this is the Double Three experience that we know and love! After my first not so rave review, the owner did follow up with me to express his sincere apologies for a less than stellar experience. His response was genuine and acknowledged the shortcomings of our visit. He did offer me a free bubble set when I come again but when I stopped by today I purposely didn't mention who I was. When we arrived the owner was there and we were promptly greeted. It wasn't too busy and we placed orders quickly. I noticed that as soon as our first order was placed, he started the bubble waffle and then came back to finish the transaction. We ordered 3 bubble sets. The first one was done in less than 10 minutes. The subsequent ones were done within 5 minutes. The orders were made correctly and the toppings were plentiful. The ice cream scoops were significantly larger than when we came the first time. It actually filled the bubble waffle! The special ice cream of the day was Hawaiian Mud Pie and it was delicious. They offer other great flavors as specials of the day including salted caramel, ube, and cookies and cream. There was lots of free street parking right outside the store (free because it was a weekend but other times it's metered so bring quarters). The store was clean with about 7 tables and plenty of stools. Thank you to the owner for taking the feedback constructively and for being able to get this new store functioning at the same quality as the Kalihi store. We're spreading the word and will definitely be back! read more

This place is a must try. I loved that the waffle cone was surprisingly not hard but light and fluffy. The ice cream was so good. I would definitely eat just that in a cup alone. The toppings are fresh. The only down side is the wait. If you're in a group, everyone doesn't get theirs at the same time. It was only one employee taking all orders. I suggest going during the week just to be safe. read more

Fortunately, this Kailua location still serves premium ice cream. The Kalihi location became soft serve only like Sheridan st, and they don't have the creamy strawberry. I hope they don't change to soft serve. I asked the server if the Kailua location was going to eventually get soft serve too, but she had no idea what I was talking about. I really hope they continue to serve premium ice cream since I just discovered their special flavors. Instead of two scoops of chocolate that I usually get, I got one scoop of cookies and cream and one of mac nut crunch. It was awesome! read more

Poor Customer Service we arrived there about 10-15 minutes before closing looks like the workers had friends waiting for them to finish their shift, so they obviously have 1 foot out the door not looking to help any more customers. I tried ordering something on the menu than the female said we just turned off the waffle machine, I mean how hard is it turn it back on? because hello your still on the clock. Any decent Buisness should serve everything till they close but in this new world it's hard to find decent workers. read more

I went to the Kalihi location a few months back with my kids and we loved it! So when I heard Double Three was opening in Kailua I knew I had to go! So on opening weekend I took my two daughters and grandson for dessert and they did not disappoint. You grab a paper and you select your order and then they get to work making your bubble waffle cone fresh with all the yummy topping you select! Comes out picture perfect! The staff is really nice too! I went again a few nights later and again it was delicious. Our favorite new spot for dessert!! read more

My experience was great! I went there for the first time during this pandemic, and they look like they are doing great. We are not allowed inside at all, you just walk up, fill out an order card (sanitized pens available) and pay. Then wait outside for your order. It's great! read more

Its a good dessert but terrible service. Waited 30 minutes for one bubble cone with only a couple people in the room. There were two very young workers kinda lumpai, both were working on one cone together instead of working on separate orders. read more

I'm giving this a 4 only for the waffles. There is nothing special about the ice cream or toppings. They all look very pretty but is it worth $30 for 3 cones. And yes they are made to order, very fresh, so expect to wait. read more

This is a 9$ cone. We are all for supporting local business, so here it goes. Tried to go to this place last night there was a line, literally a line. I've seen the line before and figured I'd check it out. Wasn't about to wait in a line, so retuned in the afternoon. The next day. First, the reason for the line is they have one or two waffle makers at most back there and can't make the waffles fast enough for the amount of customers. You would think that after more than a year of being open and noticing the line they would invest in the business and get more equipment. Each customer that orders a come will wait an average of about 20 minutes for a come. This wait comes after you have waited in line for 30 minutes or so. Depending on how many cones were ordered before yours. The ice cream nothing to write home about, not anything special. My experience is after ordering I waited for them to page me that my order was ready. Instead they called me in to tell me they ran out of the ice cream I ordered. Why would you wait to tell me this until I have already placed my order? The flavors are basic chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, it's just regular store bought, not homemade. The cone is tasty,but for 9$ I was expecting more. For me the cone is great for photos but not sure it's 9$ good. The price goes up the more topping you want. You get two included with the price and other topping are a little more pricey. It was good to try once and hope they co rubies to do good. I mean after all there is still a line. Just know if you go you'll be waiting and they may run out of the ice cream you ordered but they have regular flavors to substitute. read more

This place takes ice cream to a whole different level. They have bubble waffle cones which I haven't seen anywhere else, and they're freshly made and delicious. They only have a few ice cream flavors but they are rich and creamy and very good. I got the vanilla bean ice cream. They also have many toppings. You choose a waffle flavor, ice cream flavor, two toppings and one syrup! The waffle is freshly made to order and warm. Great variety of options. Service was good. Place is comfortably warm inside which is perfect when eating ice cream on a cooler night. Highly recommend if you are craving something sweet! read more

Soooo good! We came here right after a long day at the beach and it definitely hit the spot & satisfied my cravings. Normally at these types of dessert places they skimp on the ice cream/ they have mediocre ice cream, but these scoops were amazing!! We got the red velvet waffle (the last one they had for the day!!) and it was warm and had just the right amount of crisp. It is definitely worth a try if you're in the area. SO AMAZING! We found this place by sheer chance and could not have been happier. The "cone" is delicious and compliments every bite of ice cream. And everything is your customized combination. For the size of the ice cream cone and all the toppings, we were pleasantly surprised by the price. We were assuming a cool, Instagram-able place like this would run like $20 per. However, we got some extras on top of ours and it still only came out to about $11 or so. Will definitely be coming back. read more

We stopped by after dinner and there was a bit of a line and it takes 5-7 min per waffle to make so not a place to go if your in a rush. We had the time so waited about 25 minutes. It was delicious, the bubble waffles are amazing and a family favorite. It's a lot to eat with the ice cream so make sure you have room for it. My daughter loves the matcha waffle. read more

So excited to go to the Kailua location! Been driving by it and pointing it out to my bf everytime so he finally took me! The wait takes a bit of time (we went about 30 min before closing on a sunday night and it was packed) but it is totally worth it! I wish them the best during this time! I know, I know, why three stars! Every time I try to come, it's always packed! Ok fine the hype is real. It's pretty bomb. The waffles have a crispy edge, chewy inside and perfectly flavored but to stand outside for 30 mins waiting for it just isn't worth it to me. Haupia ice cream was so good, but practically melted when they handed it to me. I guess it doesn't help when only waffle maker is working. Maybe give it a try during the week? read more

This is our 2nd location opened December 2019 Now serving premium Bubble Tea! Our bubble waffles are influenced and are very similar to the Hong Kong waffles (gai dan zai) but are not exactly the same. We created a new type of batter with our secret recipe to produce a light cake/mochi like texture in the inside with the same crispiness on the outside to go well with the ice cream. We make our waffles/batter from scratch every day. We do not use instant mochi waffles/batter mix like many others do. We are the first DIY bubble waffle “Specialty Store” to serve bubble waffles with ice cream in Hawaii.

History

Established in 2019.

While the owner was studying dessert making in Tokyo, he came across Hong Kong waffles and immediately fell in love. He then went to Hong Kong to learn the traditional way of making Gai Dan Zai (Hong Kong waffles). After spending 2 years in Hong Kong, he decided to open a shop in Hawaii, where he grew up. 1st store in Honolulu Jan 2019. 2nd location in Kailua Dec 2019. With his back ground in dessert making, he’s made some changes to the traditional Hong Kong waffles (with respect) to create a modern bubble waffles that goes well when served with ice cream.

decided to finally give this place a try after seeing them all over instagram at their original location, which seems to be always busy (that's why i was hesitant to go as i don't like to stand in line) this is their new location which i found while coming back from kailua beach i just had to stop by. you fill out a form to place an order which i find very convenient. it does take a while to complete but each waffle is made fresh so it's totally worth the wait. i tried the ube ice cream which was on point but the real star here is the bubble waffle aka egg puffs. i've had something similar at other places in hawaii but they were all disappointing. this place is hands down the best in the island, similar if not better than the ones i've had in asia. price is reasonable considering it's size and quality. highly recommended! read more

This place is a must try! The Belgian waffle-like cone was absolutely delicious. The texture was just fun to eat. Expensive, so it's not somewhere I would eat a lot, but every so often. Service is not very fast as it takes time to freshly make this, but it was worth it. I prob would avoid this place if it has a group of ppl in there as you'll be waiting forever to get your treat. I have been drinking lots of water and unsweetened tea. We have also been drinking Hong Kong milk tea from various businesses. I noticed Auntie (aka Nadine C.) post a recent review of Lunar Tea (LT) opening in Windward Mall a few months ago and regardless I'm in the area 5x a week I never made my way over. Amazing how the universe works as it was delivered to me by my colleague. LT is a local bubble tea establishment for boba drinks, fruit teas and rice yogurt smoothies that started off in April 2021 in the Old Stadium Square with neighbors of Golden Eagle, Tori Ton, Niu Soft Serve and Alii Fish Market. They opened this Kaneohe location in March 2026. Our drinks were delivered in a convenient 2-cup holder where I was so excited to take that first sip. My colleague knows me well as the sweetness was adjusted to 50%. I'm no connoisseur when it comes to milk teas but this was good, but it wasn't the better ones that I've had in Honolulu. On a bright note, although I don't care for boba pearls, they were executed nicely with a chewy texture. My first interaction with LT was above average where I'd be game to sample more of their menu, for example their rice yogurt smoothie. The coffee and food items are on the pricier end for what they are, but everything was tasty and I like that it's supporting a small local business. The baristas were friendly and welcoming and there was a notice for awareness about the time for the sandwiches which provided reasonable expectations.

Another couple was laughing and chatting with the guy making the coffee, so I knew it'd be a friendly experience. Despite there being only room for a single employee, he did his best to make orders quickly but still with the attention a great cup of coffee deserves. Prices are reasonable for the local coffee quality and strength. They have other drinks as well, but it wasn't the right time to try them. If you see the trailer around the neighborhood, it's worthwhile to stop in a cup!
