Refreshing beverage in Kailua, O'ahu, Hawai'i... Donna O. suggested that we visit Double Three since it was almost next to where we had lunch! Smart idea! We were full from lunch, so we had Yuzu Passion Fruit Tea with lychee jelly - instead of a cute ice cream in a bubble waffle dessert... maybe next time! Our drinks were made efficiently by the polite worker. It's a cozy shop with cute decor! Park for free in the shared parking lot behind the building, where Longs DrugsStoreis. Double Three is on the street side of the building.

Their waffle ice cream is sooo good. Got the ube with Oreo, pocky, and condensed milk. It was amazing, chewy, warm, and crispy. I'd definitely get it again if I'm in the area!

I love love love ice cream, so I HAD to try Double Three! The first time I came, I got the Matcha bubble waffle with an Ube Scoop, topped with Oreos and Mini Marshmallows. I will say that if you have a small appetite and you're with a friend who also has a small appetite, you should share your bubble waffle cone because I definitely couldn't finish mine! The bubble waffle was so yummy and fresh, and the Ube was definitely a strong Ube flavor and the combination couldn't be more perfect to me! I will say that in terms of toppings, it was a bit scarce and the oreo chunks could've been smaller, but it was an amazing dessert nevertheless! The second time I came, I came for their bubble tea to pair with my Little Sparrow bowl on the way back to my friend's house, and WOW, I 100% love their bubble tea! The tea I opted for was the Yuzu Passion Fruit Tea, and at 75% sweetness, it was JUST perfect for me, with its sweetness and fruity flavor. I will say that if you're in a rush, I would not come here if you see a line. In the two times I've visited, there's only been one employee working both the register and making the ice cream and bubble tea, so the wait is always pretty long. Also because there's only ever one employee, the interaction isn't always super helpful if you have questions and what not, especially if there are a ton of people ordering, which I understand! I definitely would stop by Double Three if you're a bubble waffle, ice cream, and/or bubble tea enthusiast! You'll walk away with something you can absolutely rave about :)

The place is small & quaint, but there was enough room for me and my family of 6 to enjoy our own cones. Their bubble waffles with ice cream and toppings were a hit with my cousins. I loved the chocolate bubble waffle. I also was able to try one of their signature teas "Sea Salted Cream Tea", sooo good! The service was great even tho there was only one worker. She made all of our cones in a timely manner and presentation was on point with pictures.

I was craving Double 3 soft serve ice cream and freshly made bubble waffles so we drove all the way out to Kaneohe for it! I have never been to this location and it's been a long time since I've had the one in town so I was shocked and disappointed to find out that soft serve wasn't an option. The store was small and smelled of dog when I first walked in. It was visually clean so I was surprised by the smell. There were just 2 young ladies working. They were friendly and efficient with service. The bubble waffles were as delicious as I remembered but the ice cream just didn't hit the spot. The kids ordered a couple drinks, I tasted both and they were good. Overall I would probably not return because I am hardly ever in this area and prefer soft serve.

Easy place to find. Lots of parking within walking distance. We parked near longs. Very small little shop with inside seating and a bench outside as well. Friendly staff but I think they usually only have 1-2 people working at a time so when a big group comes in be patient with your order. If they didn't have that little paper to tell you how to order everyone would be completely lost so that made it way easier for us. The waffle was great and freshly made. Ice cream was good and tons of toppings to choose from. Presentation and taste for me is 10/10 it's just a little pricey for me. For 2 waffle ones and 2 cups it came out to $50ish and we still gave a little tip so about $60 for 4 of us. We live in north shore so we figure we try something out on this side so for us it was still worth it.

My boyfriend and I shared a plain waffle with cookies and cream ice cream. Delicious! Love the rotating flavors and the waffle is exceptionally delicious! They make the dessert to-order and with care. I highly recommend sharing one, as it's a lot for one person. Plenty of free parking behind and seating inside as well as outside. I don't believe they have a restroom for customers. Friendly staff.

While visiting my college friends during Thanksgiving break, they took us to Double Three for an afternoon treat. OMG! Who can pass up on bubble waffles?!? There's a parking area so no need to park on the street. It's a small but a cute shop. You have to fill out an order form and then they'll perpetrate your order. You pick the type of waffle, ice cream flavor, and topping(s). We had: -Original waffle with vanilla ice cream, bananas and strawberries, and strawberry syrup -Chocolate waffle with vanilla ice cream, fruity pebbles and Nutella syrup The bubble waffles were delicious. Light, fluffy, you can easily pull each one apart, and the corner is crispy. The soft serve ice cream was rich and yummy. This is a perfect afternoon dessert on a hot day.

Yummy! The location in Kailua is in a strip of shops with a parking lot nearby. There is limited seating but it is in a cute area to walk around with your bubble waffle. Every time we have been, our order has been taken swiftly. It takes a bit of time to make the bubble waffle since it seems that it might be made to order. We got the bubble waffle with strawberry ice cream, sprinkles, and cookies. It was good -- very straightforward and delicious. A great spot for a dessert!

Nice spot in Kailua, the waffle cones are made fresh which is super nice! You can also choose what flavor ice cream and toppings you want! If you're looking for a sweet treat in the area I would recommend!

We ordered chocolate, macadamia nut, Strawberry on different waffles. They were all delicious! Highly recommend trying.

The boyfriend found this place on yelp. It was one of the only dessert places open late during COVID. We found street parking right out front. They were taking orders from the door and by the time we got our matcha cone, there was a small line of people ordering and picking up food. These little bubble cones are kind of an Instagram sensation. I personally like regular cones more because they're crunchy. This bubble cone thing was ok though. I liked that you can choose a flavor for the cone. The ice cream was ok. It was also very instagramable. It was a little expensive for dessert, but it was very pretty and we ate it in like 2 minutes after taking a pic. The service was fast and they make it to order. For a special occasion, yeah, this is a cool place to go. It's also one of the few dessert places open in Kailua and they were open late. read more

Stopped by this place in Kailua and I'm glad I tried it. Original bubble waffle with vanilla ice cream. You make your own + toppings you pick. What I like: the concept. The ice cream goes really well with hot crispy bubble waffle. The toppings are so good if you get the right combo. What I didn't like: - that they charge you so much for small portion of toppings. Eg: a Ferrero Rocher is 75 cents. Yes, ONE Ferrero Rocher. - one person working (slows down the process). We waited 15 minutes and there was no line. read more

Blonde and chopped, we walked in 10 mins before closing and she said she couldn't do waffles, ik damn well she aint wanna clean the waffle maker, but she had to lie, therefore 1 star. Dont say open till 9 if you cant do your main dessert till 9 read more

Following the results on Yelp that said the waffles are gluten free, I decided to try Double Three. Two friends had been raving about it for weeks and I was curious. On the downtown one, there are two notes that the mocha waffles are gluten free. Ummm ok!!! The girl working there told me it was all the same and they were GF. I choose strawberry ice cream in a chocolate bubble waffle with marshmallows, whipped cream and m&ms. I figured it would be soft serve, but ended up with some delicious hard packed ice cream. It was delicious! Due to Covid, you can only order at the door and take away. There's no option for washing your hands or sitting. Hopefully that'll change at some point. Pricing is a little high for a treat, but not bad if you're splitting something. All in all, delightful and didn't wreck me. read more

Such a great find in Kailua.... Double Three offers a great tasty treat on a hot afternoon. Hong Kong egg waffle wrapped with sweet ice cream and a variety of toppings. We had the green tea flavored waffle... I must say, it's got the perfect mix of matcha. Then my daughters choose the strawberry ice cream, M&Ms, marshmallows and chocolate syrup. Love it! My daughters who doesn't like egg waffle was eating it up. This will definitely be one of our must stops in Kailua. read more

The worker rolled her eyes when I asked her to change her dirty gloves. It was my first time visiting, so I went all out and ordered paid $25 for one ice cream bubble waffle with extra everything. I observed the worker compete an order and personally deliver it to a customer outside. The same worker was wearing gloves, then used the same gloves to open/close the door and started to make my ice cream. I politely asked her to start over and change her gloves and she rolled her eyes. It's not a ridiculous request. Your gloves are dirty. Yeah, I haven't been back since. read more

This is a unique ice cream experience - you get to choose your ice cream flavors, toppings, and flavor of your bubble waffle which is slightly crispy on the outside and soooo delicious! So many options for toppings. This is the perfect place for someone with a sweet tooth! Pretty expensive since your ice cream will be $12+ but a cool spot to treat yourself and family! There's not too much seating inside and one bench outside, so gets pretty crowded on weekends. read more

We went back yesterday with friends after I told them how good it is and worth wait. They were busy so we waited for 30 mins to get our order, which was fine. While we were waiting the staff was talking loudly and I don't think cared that customers were waiting inside to hear them. But one was cleaning up the store so they could go home early. The one who was making the waffles stated "i want to go home early and not stay back and clean so these people can wait, cry me a river. Then proceeded to say that they feel like they are black slaves and are in the 1920's." I think that it is highly unprofessional especially being in ear shot of the customers. I understand being overwhelmed and busy but theres a time and a place for those comments. In front of the customer wasn't it. Like always the food is good. read more

Oh my my... wow! Can i just saw that!!! Everything was so delicious!! When you enter you fill out your order on a paper and turn it in to have it made. We ordered a red velvet with chocolate ice cream, oreos and kit kats with whip cream. 2. Chocolate cone with cotton candy, sprinkles, chocolate syrup and whip cream. It was warm and fresh!! But it didn't melt our ice cream. It was so delicious!! Service was fast and helpful. Seating was for 6 people or 2 families. Decorations were nice and made it welcoming. I am very happy that there is one of these on my side of the island! My hubby and I took our daughter to this place this past Monday for her birthday. Instead of a cake we told her she was going to get a really cool treat. She was pleased to say the least. The service at this location was just as good as the location in Honolulu. We walked in and noticed there were a lot of other people waiting for their food. We didn't mind waiting ourselves. Our food/ice cream was out to us in less than 10 minutes and with a smile. I think the price for the product that you get is very fair and the atmosphere is pretty cool to boot. Very happy and we will for sure be back!! read more

This placed lived up to its hype. I got the red velvet bubble cone, kona mud pie which was flavor of the day, a macaron, and condense milk to top it all off. I'll tell you what, that drive and wait was worth it. The bubble cone is crunch and soft at the same time and compliments the ice cream very well. I highly recommend this place. Parking sucks but that's expected in Hawaii. read more

We've been waiting to try this place for quite some time but the lines are a bit too long normally. Finally tried it out today and it wasn't too bad! The buffle waffle is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I love that its warm upon receiving as well. My Fiance and I both got the vanilla bean ice cream which I loved. I prefer vanilla bean over regular vanilla ice cream so that was definitely a plus! I wish you could choose 3 toppings for free so it feels like you get more for how much you pay. Staff was friendly and ice cream took about 6 or 7 minutes (no one in front of us physically) not sure if there were bite squad orders being made though Overall, I would definitely come back :) amazing if you're really craving ice cream and a night out! I was supposed to go to the event, but didn't make it to the one downtown, but that didn't stop me from celebrating Ice Cream Day! This place is amazing!! I even went back to the one off Kalani. I will say this location has the Red Velvet Bubble Waffle, as Kalani does not. As well as fresh bananas. So toppings and options can vary between locations. You may wait a bit depending on the number of people, but it's worth the wait as everything is made fresh. I love how you don't have to go all extreme, you can choice a cup of ice cream for the little kiddos who make tons of messes. One great pro from this location is the driving view, but any one you go to, you will not be disappointed. read more

What an awesome dessert place!! Highly recommend! Service was quick and friendly. We got the red velvet waffle cone with mac nut crunch icecream and rainbow sprinkles. Unfortunately cotton candy topping was not available. The icecream came out to be super delicious and instagram worthy! Loved the experience. I took some out of town friends here because we were eating dinner in the area so we were all still full from dinner but THIS PLACE! Found the location pretty easily and parked in the large free parking lot in the back. It was a Saturday night so it was pretty full in the lot, and we walked around to the front of the building where we saw a few people had gathered in front of Double Three. We walked inside and pulled an ordering paper & pen on the left side and chose our waffle flavor, our ice cream, our syrup toppings, and finally two other yummy toppings. We waited about 15-20 & took a walk down the block & back to try and digest some of our food, took photos of ourselves in front of the yummy wall pictures outside, and then the buzzer they gave us went off! My choice was a vanilla waffle with chocolate ice cream (premium ice cream which melts slowly!) with caramel syrup and Kitkats (2!) and a big Reese's peanut butter cup heart. This dessert was HUUUGE. This place is a fun splurge! I waited about 15 mins total for my cone. There are sooooo many fun and interesting options for toppings! I opted for the original cone with chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, Oreo and Reese's topping and topped it off with chocolate syrup. The cone was tasty and warm, but there was probably less than a scoop of ice cream in the cone itself. Can't wait to try more flavors! read more

They need systems. Great ice scream. 30 minute wait and only two people in line. 30 minutes to make 5 cones and 9 people walked in behind us. My wife and daughter finished theirs before I got mine. One girl worked the register only. While another girl made the cones up. read more

We came here about half an hour before close. They did a great job and it was delicious!! We watched people show up all the way til closing time and they didn't refuse anyone service which was also nice to see as every other dessert place nearby was already closed up. We went on a little adventure today to find some ice cream, but we wanted something different and a new place to try. We first went to Kaneohe but the place there was closed, so we found this place instead. Really easy to find... right across Kailua Elementary School! There were a handful of people waiting outside so I grabbed an order sheet and started drooling all over the options they had. Couldn't decide, but the boyfriend wanted to share so I kept it simple, he likes his ice creams simple... original waffle with vanilla ice cream topped with Oreo cookie crumbs and Lotus cookies. The wait wasn't too long... I was so excited when it came out! We dug in... so delicious and worth the money! The only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the ice cream wasn't creamy... tasted more like ice milk, sort of. Next time, I'll be sure to bring my kids... hehehe... it was kind of a date day! read more

The waffle cone is made after you order so it does take awhile to get your cone but it is worth the wait. There currently is no seating while you wait or to eat your cone. The cones are about $10 after taxes which includes your choice of one type of ice-cream, two candy toppings, on drizzle topping and the waffle cone. You can of course add on more for extra fees. I have always liked customizable ice-cream and it's even better with a warm waffle cone. read more

We went for ice cream on quarantine night. There was a long line waiting for service as there was only one person working. She was doing her best and was very friendly, but was limited by being able to make one waffle at a time. My son got the waffle with ice cream and toppings, the waffle was good. I had just a scoop of ice cream. I alway like Dave's ice cream so it was a win win. The cup of ice cream was four bucks. Bubble waffles, ice cream, and toppings. It is fantastic. Sometimes a little bit of a wait when they're busy, but they're busy because it's delicious. Worth a stop. You can park in the lot behind the building (map directions to Cinnamon's, there's a little path next to the antique shop to cut over to Double Three). read more

This was my first time here, and it was soooooo good! I wasn't sure what to expect, so I kept my order simple - regular waffle cone, chocolate ice cream, and Oreo crumbles. There were lots of options though! Chocolate waffle cone, Oreo, matcha, red velvet. And tons of toppings, from sauces to candies. This cone, though... this is the single best waffle cone I've ever had. They're doing their best with COVID mitigation efforts. You fill out a slip to place your order, and pay in the doorway. Went last night and ordered the daily special haupia ice cream. Looked forward to it but it had no haupia/coconut flavor! It had to be plain vanilla. Mentioned to the worker , told her to taste it for herself. Very disappointed. Don't get haupua if you r looking for coconut, it's not happening here read more

Very cute and modern ice cream spot in Kailua. The colors and décor is very bright and vibrant. It's a very instagrammable type of place. We ordered the red velvet bubble waffle, vanilla bean and mud pie ice cream with fruity pebbles, cotton candy, and a toasted marshmallow drizzled with condensed milk. Our order came out very quickly and the 2 young ladies that was working were very friendly and helpful. Our dessert came out looking very instagrammable but the taste was just ok. Maybe another night we'll give it another try. read more

I can't speak on the waffle cone experience itself because we only went to get ice cream. But the service was not great. The cashier was a little rude. As first timers we weren't aware you order with a paper so we waited till someone told us. No explanation just pointed to the paper. After some time we figured it out. The place was a mess. While we waited for our ice cream I ended up cleaning the counters and the chairs because they were all covered in ice cream and fudge. There was no napkins anywhere all the napkin holders were empty and they never gave us any when giving us our ice creams. Luckily I always have baby wipes on hand. I highly doubt we will be back. read more

This is our 2nd location opened December 2019 Now serving premium Bubble Tea! Our bubble waffles are influenced and are very similar to the Hong Kong waffles (gai dan zai) but are not exactly the same. We created a new type of batter with our secret recipe to produce a light cake/mochi like texture in the inside with the same crispiness on the outside to go well with the ice cream. We make our waffles/batter from scratch every day. We do not use instant mochi waffles/batter mix like many others do. We are the first DIY bubble waffle “Specialty Store” to serve bubble waffles with ice cream in Hawaii.

History

Established in 2019.

While the owner was studying dessert making in Tokyo, he came across Hong Kong waffles and immediately fell in love. He then went to Hong Kong to learn the traditional way of making Gai Dan Zai (Hong Kong waffles). After spending 2 years in Hong Kong, he decided to open a shop in Hawaii, where he grew up. 1st store in Honolulu Jan 2019. 2nd location in Kailua Dec 2019. With his back ground in dessert making, he’s made some changes to the traditional Hong Kong waffles (with respect) to create a modern bubble waffles that goes well when served with ice cream.

decided to finally give this place a try after seeing them all over instagram at their original location, which seems to be always busy (that's why i was hesitant to go as i don't like to stand in line) this is their new location which i found while coming back from kailua beach i just had to stop by. you fill out a form to place an order which i find very convenient. it does take a while to complete but each waffle is made fresh so it's totally worth the wait. i tried the ube ice cream which was on point but the real star here is the bubble waffle aka egg puffs. i've had something similar at other places in hawaii but they were all disappointing. this place is hands down the best in the island, similar if not better than the ones i've had in asia. price is reasonable considering it's size and quality. highly recommended! read more

This place is a must try! The Belgian waffle-like cone was absolutely delicious. The texture was just fun to eat. Expensive, so it's not somewhere I would eat a lot, but every so often. Service is not very fast as it takes time to freshly make this, but it was worth it. I prob would avoid this place if it has a group of ppl in there as you'll be waiting forever to get your treat.
