Doubleday's is basically a local version of Fridays or Applebees. Super generic. I got a burger (I think the maui burger). The avocado wasn't quite ripe enough yet. Besides that, the burger was fine. Super average. Their fries are not my favorite. I really don't think there is much to say about this place. It's really just a local TGI Fridays. The food tastes fine, but it's nothing special. It seemed like a popular local spot, so there was a bit of a wait for lunch even on a Wednesday, which seemed ridiculous. read more

Came here for dinner and really enjoyed it! It was pretty packed but we were sat pretty quickly and our server greeted us right away. She was awesome throughout the night. The food was really good as well. We started with the chips and salsa platter which came with guac, salsa, and a spinach queso. This was excellent. I also got a half rack of ribs, and they were fantastic. Really nice tangy sauce. The only disappointment was the french onion soup that was really bland. The other reviews said the same, they should just 86 it from the menu. I'll definitely be back however. Really fun bar vibe throughout as well. Very impressed! read more

We ended up meeting a friend here for a quick bite. I didn't really know what to expect.. they have a large selection of different items and varieties on their menu, so no need to worry. I ended up going with a pizza and my wife had a sandwich. Both were good and well seasoned. They also have some beer on tap includin Yienling. Wow what a difference since the last time I had their food. This time I had it door dashed. I'm the biggest critic when it comes to food! I must say this place has the best fried fish I have ever had in OHIO. HANDS DOWN. I have ordered fish and chips from very expensive restaurants since the pandemic and have been 100% disappointed my order came and it was a huge thick piece of yuengling hand battered haddock! It wasn't soggy it was nice and crisp and AMAZING! I got wedges for the side and coleslaw! The coleslaw was also some of the best I have ever had and the wedges omg....were a HUGE portion and definitely homemade along with their ranch dipping sauce. I also ordered a bowl of french onion soup! Again amazing! And carrot cake which again is homemade. My son snagged it up so fast I didn't even get a chance to try it but he said it was also amazing! Had an appointment to fix my car next door at Firestone & decided to try out this bar for some food and wine while I wait for my vehicle to be finished. Sat at the bar and my server Brian was absolutely amazing. It was my first time there and he helped me out with my order and let me try the wine before I decided I wanted to order a glass. Very great customer service and the salad was great and so were the boneless wings. Ordered 3 glasses of wine and left happy and satisfied. Double Day's Monster pizza is the carryout pizza window next door to Double Day's restaurant. When you're in the south Dayton area and need a great local pizza to take home to family or pick up while watching the big college football game. They have fun with the names of their pizza's starting with their namesake Monster - this pizza has just about every ingredient you want on a pizza covered in cheese. My Mom loves the Son of Frankenstein you're standard deluxe pizza. While Voodoo Veggie has all of the great veggies you need including spinach, which should be standard on all veggie pizzas, while other places do not - spinach is a must on all pizzas! A few more of their selections, which I have not tried yet, but sound interesting Transylvania - BBQ Chicken, Creature Feature - Hawaiian Chicken or Ham, Mucho Monster - Mexican; Attack of the Killer Tomatoes - white pizza, Night of the Living Med - Mediterranean, Bride of BLT - BLT pizza. I was here a few weeks ago for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. The menu is huge and offers a ton of food options. Everything from sandwiches and pizza to entrees like pasta and steak. My husband ordered a pizza, which I tried as well and it was better then I thought. It reminded me of typically bar pizza, which I highly enjoy. With my husband only liking cheese I am curious to go back and try some of the other varieties especially the white sauce pizza's! I had an Italian sandwich, which was huge with a side of french fries. The sandwich was fantastic and the fries were typical of other restaurants. We went on a Friday evening since I work right now the street and the place was packed. We did not have to wait too long but it may be better to go at another time if you do not like to wait. Service was average, which I expected from a place like this. Overall definitely a place to check out if your in the area. read more

I had not eaten at Doubledays for several years. The last meal I had there was less than good, and the service...even more questionnable. At friends request, I met them for dinner last night (3/20/2024). I was most pleasantly surprised, and from the inception of our seating, the server was TOP-NOTCH! Karyn Konicki is her name, as I asked her before I left. She not only recommended an excellent chicken sandwich, did not forget that I wanted a couple of the sandwich add-ons put on the side rather than on the sandwich, but was more than on her game at making sure that I had something to drink, checking to make sure my and my groups food was good, asking if I/we needed anything (several times), and was not gruff like so many servers are today. You have an ABOVE PAR server here! I travel a lot for work, interact with many servers at countless restaurants from Boston to Dana Point, CA, and this girl is far and away the BEST I have had the pleasure of being served by. If I were your managerial staff, I would not let this girl go anywhere else, I would cerainly take good care of her, she is a genuine asset to your eatery! SHE is the reason that I will make this a new regular restaurant to frequent, and will invite friends to do just the same.........and when I do, I will most certainly ask to be served by her and will wait for an opening in her section. Great local gem of Dayton! Always have to come here when I come home. The one thing about this place that I love is the customer service. The servers are happy, polite, and always get the order right. I have the worst luck with getting my orders messed up at restaurants, but I've never had an issue at Doubleday's! They are well trained and that's hard to find nowadays. I really like the vegan options but I wish they'd add a veggie burger or soy chicken for protein options. The vegan lean bowl is amazing but it's missing protein. The impossible burger, some tofu, or gardein chicken strips would be so nice for vegetarians and vegans. I absolutely love double days! Their food is always fresh and cooked very well. Their staff is always very kind and they seem to be genuinely happy to be at work. Since COVID, they have made carry out super easy, and usually there's only about a 20-30 minute wait when doing carry-out. I highly recommend them to anyone who hasn't been! Whenever I'm in the centerville area to meet up with friends I like to stop here for lunch. Today they had a grilled fish sandwich special that was heaven on a bun. Received a big piece of fish, seasoned to perfection on a lightly toasted wheat sub bun with home made tater sauce. Came with a small side of cold coleslaw and two sides which I decided to go with the steamed brocolli. Fish was so moist and flaked apart, broccoli steamed just right, enough bite but not at allmushy, and Coleslaw was sweet and tangy. I'm not a big fish eater but this sandwich has won me over. Recommend this place for anyone looking for a good meal. Never been disappointed. read more

We live in Centerville and used to love this restaurant and ate there once a week. Last year we went in and all ordered the gyro sandwich which was new on the menu (at least to us it was new.) It was a joke for 9.95. 3 or 4 very thin slices of prepackaged and sliced gyro meat. the only thing served with this was the pita and lettuce. That was the only thing on the plate and the plate was half empty. Didn't fill up my 11 year old let alone my wife and me. Complete joke. I mentioned to the waitress how we were dissappointed and all she did was shrug! We left and when I got home emailed the restaurant from the address on their we site. No response. I guess they are so busy they don't care about losing a good customer. I tell everyone about our bad experience if anyone mentions the restaurant. My boyfriend and I came here for the first time this past weekend not knowing what to expect. We ordered a large of the Italian pizza (I forget the exact name of it) and the buffalo hot wings as an appetizer. The food came out in a timely manner and our waitress was incredibly nice. The chef accidentally added onions to our pizza and was incredibly apologetic about it. We were allowed to keep the pizza with the onions and he personally brought us out a whole new one sans-onions. We have been talking about checking this place out for a while since we live close by and finally decided to give it a shot. I am disappointed that we waited to so long to try this place. The food was excellent as was the service. I got the Hawaiian pizza and my husband got the monster burger. I was nervous about the pizza having bbq sauce since I wasn't sure I would care for it. Holy cow it was delicious. The crust was fluffy, but had a nice crunch to it. The toppings were abundant and fresh. I ordered a personal size and probably could have shared that with someone and gotten a side salad and been full. My husband said he really enjoyed his burger and fries. The inside of the restaurant is a little dark, but there are a lot of tvs around for you to be able to watch whatever game is on. There was also a lot of seating, which is nice since the place was filling up when we left. One thing about the pizza is it did seem a little expensive (just under $18 for a large for some flavors). However, I'd be willing to pay a little more since the pizza I had was so much better than your average pizza takeout place. This location has a separate entrance that I think is just for carryout orders so you don't need to go into the main restaurant. Overall, we will definitely be coming back here to eat and are looking forward to trying other things on the menu. read more

Doubleday's seems to be one of those go-to spots for locals and has a pretty large crowd of regulars, or so it seemed while we were there. We arrived during the dinner rush (6pm) and were told it would be a 15 minute wait or we could eat at the bar and were welcome to seat ourselves, we opted for the latter. The menu was massive, there was something for everyone from buffalo chicken pasta, Rubens, wraps, to pizza and steak. My patty melt was tasty and my wife ordered the Grecian pasta with feta, chicken, and spinach, which was fantastic. It was served with pita wedges that were crusted with what tasted like grilled Parmesan cheese, they were great! The only issue I had was that the service was very slow at times, the bartender did the best she could however given the number of people she had to serve, not a major issue really. A few of the other reviews used the word "solid" to describe the experience at Doubledays and I totally agree, we will most likely return to try some of the other menu options. read more

I have been here before and was much more impresses before. My husband ordered the club sandwich with a ceasar salad. The food was good per his statement. I had the Attack of the killer tomato pizza, which was absolutely amazing. My one downfall was about the service. I am unable to give them more than 3 stra because we had to wait... And wait.... And you guessed it wait! Our server greeted us soon enough however we had to wait almost 10 minutes for her to come back and take our drink order. This was a time when there was maybe 10 tables filled. Someone else besides our server brought out or food and we didn't see her again until we were finished and waiting for the check. So the hubby & I love the giant breaded pork tenderloins...very good! The French onion soup is good, too, and if they have the Irish Shepherds Pie, GET IT! Daily specials offer good values.
