Finally made it back here. Unfortunately, not as great an experience as last time. Food was still great. My daughter and I both ordered the Avocado Toast with vegan cheese on it. Other orders on the table included a Breakfast Sammy and the Brioche French Toast. We had to wait about 10-15 minutes to get a table. Then once we ordered our food, we waited an eternity for our food to finally be served. My niece gobbled her French Toast and then went to sit in the car as our 1 hour parking had expired. Love the food and the retro decor but didn't care for the excessive waiting. I think we must have come on a weekday last time. I was very close to saying that I wouldn't bother coming back again but upon further reflection, I might give it another try, but just make sure that it's a weekday and not a weekend. This visit was shortly before noon on a Saturday so...definitely a busy time.

Stopped by after wife's hair apt. Greeted fairly quickly and seated. The diner had a nice diner feel to it with the table/restaurant layout. Servers were very friendly and attentive. Absolutely makes the visit more pleasurable right away. I ordered chicken and waffles, the chicken was a cutlet style and served with white sausage gravy. I personally think the chicken/waffle combo with syrup is good enough but if you like sausage gravy go at it. They were all tasty. Wife ordered French toast, which was very large and fluffy. Overall decent and solid place.

We stopped for breakfast at Douce Diner on our way to Lynn Canyon. Parking was pleasantly easy to find on the street nearby. The breakfast was great. We had the "Breakfast Sammy" and "Green Shakshuka". Both dishes were super fresh and super tasted great. We would definitely visit again and try more from the menu. Incredibly friendly staff as well. The were so warm welcoming.

Great place, it was busy, and the customer service was fast and friendly. Good food I really enjoyed the waffle. The breakfast bowl was good but I was a little surprised I thought it would be more of a scramble/ mixed up. The interior was cute. Parking was a little tough but I don't take stars off for that. I was really happy my wife found this spot.

    French toast fabulous!

Food was amazing and service was excellent. Ambiance was great but it's very popular so text ahead for a reservation. This is our favourite brunch place.

Happy to find this great diner! Facility, service and food were all stellar. It's a busy, small space. They made use of the enclosed outdoor area and added more seating. We enjoyed the recommended Chicken and Waffle and Eggs Benny. Both were delicious. I especially liked the biscuit that the eggs were on, tasted homemade. Can't wait to go back!

Ruben Sandwich is on sourdough not rye. Corned beef itself was under seasoned but cooked well. Overall sandwich is on the dry side. Fries were good, not great. On the positive wasn't greasy and it was generous. Bottomless coffee came in a small cup and barely 70%full, very cumbersome to ask for refills. Drip coffee itself was flavourless. I would say it is milder than most coffee in a regular office would serve. Ambiance was like Archie and Friends (comic book), the booth/seating were very tight. Parking can be difficult as there isn't pay parking, however there are parking maids circling as this is considering an industrial area and they will ticket.

Douce Diner is a hidden gem in North Vancouver. They are open everyday from 8am-3pm We Ordered: Eggs Benny w/ Bacon $20 (House buttermilk biscuit, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, hash browns or nice green organic salad) Denver-Ish Breakfast Bowl $19.25 (Scrambled eggs, vintage cheddar, chorizo sausage, potato tater tots, sweet pickled peppers & red onion served with choice of toast) Bottomless Drip $4.25 Iced lATTE $5.75 They have limited seating so on weekends they tend to have a long lineup. We went for brunch on a weekday and there was no lineup. Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Parking 5/5

The food was good! I absolutely loved the yogurt and lemon curd! I stole the lemon curd from my kiddos French toast! The chicken and waffles was good but not excellent for the price. Only negative was wish there was a kids menu and the pricing was a little extreme for the portion sizes. But definitely worth trying!

Retro look .. friendly staffs .. great coffee!!

Thanks to Yelp! This is a new discovery for me! A very lively little diner run by a group of dedicated professional! Food here has a real homemade feel and you can see the staffs really do care about their customers! Outstanding item: Egg Benny - Panko Chicken .. moist succulent chicken breast is covered with a thin coating of panko crumbs fried lightly to golden .. topped with a perfectly poached egg with runny yolk! Everything here is perfectly balanced! Their Bottomless Drip is a full bodied blend that will make you want to keep your cup filled! Be prepared to wait for your table as this place do get busy and you will know why after your first visit! Call out to Shannon & crew for their great service!!

We haven't gone out for brunch in ages but after a rainy hike, we decided to check out Douce Diner. They're located a stone throw's away from Afra Bakery. We dropped in on a Saturday afternoon (around 1:30pm) and had to wait about 30 minutes for a table to open up. Service was friendly and our waitress was very accommodating. The inside is cute with a modern diner vibe but they also have 4-5 tables outside (that's sheltered from the elements). Menu is split into breaky, greens & bowls, sammy's & toast and desserts. The hand spun milk shakes ($7.50) was a very popular order. They brought out ketchup and their hot sauce (very mild) to the table. - Country ham eggs benny ($17.75) - hash browns were nicely seasoned. Eggs benny was well executed; runny yolk, liked how the ham was thinly sliced, hollandaise wasn't too rich and the biscuit brought everything together. - 2x Double Douce burger ($18.00) - both added a gluten free bun ($1.25 extra). N opted for the organic greens while B went with the shoestring fries. Bun was nicely toasted. It wasn't the juiciest burger but portion (double smashed patty) was decent and the pickled vegetables were a pleasant touch. DD was an enjoyable outing. 3.5 stars.

Crispy chicken sandwich on a gluten free bun
    Natasha P.

Hands down the best fried chicken sandwich. This is my go-to every time I come here because the chicken is crispy and the flavour is so good - honey mustard with pickle dressing. I opt for a gluten friendly bun as I am gluten sensitive and the bun is light and tasty too. The service is quite quick but if you go during busy hours (typically lunch) then you can expect to wait for a table as the restaurant is quite small.

The bowl was very hearty hott mess in a good way. Very filling, tasty with all the good bits of bacon, ham, sausage gravy all throughout. I had to take half home as it was a bit much for me. Wifeys Benny was decent, the hollandaise was more mayoee than regular hollandaise and there was a sweet drizzle on the eggs I personally was not a fan but I can see it's appeal to others. Serving size are very decent. Overall this location is good and we will visit again. Lovely servers, good food and atmosphere!

I had The Classic which came with Eggs, mushroom & broccolini, potato rosti, baked beans, roasted tomato and housemade sourdough. We also ordered a Nutelle Hot Chocolate and Matcha Oat Latte. I loved The Classic. While I do enjoy trying new things all the time, I think I'm a Classic girl at heart. I often fight the urge to order the tried and true for the sake of trying new things, but I'm ever so happy on those occasions where I give in and order something more Classic. Baked beans and toast remind me of family trips to England. Havn't gone for one of those in years, but I do have some good memories of them. When they're on sale here, we sometimes like to buy cans of Heinz British style baked beans, and I sometimes make my own homemade version of baked beans to store in our freezer. I don't often see baked beans on brunch menus so this was a bit of a special occasion for me to be able to order something with baked beans for brunch. Personally, I would have preferred the beans to have been just a little bit softer. Nothing wrong with them. They were fully cooked but perhaps just a little bit firmer than I'd have liked. I prefer my beans very soft and I tend to be like that with a lot of foods in general. My hubby prefers his foods firmer, and I like my foods softer. It's a personal preference. Otherwise, I very much enjoyed this dish and am very likely to order it again sometime! Oh, the potato rosti in my dish was awesome as well. This meal was so filling though that I only ate one small corner of the potato rosti and then took the rest home to eat as I was very full already from everything else I had eaten from the plate.

We were pleasantly surprised with the brunch menu because from the ingredient list, we could see that there was effort in making the dishes more unique. As soon as I entered the bistro, the desserts caught my eye. Again, they all had a twist in either the design and/or the ingredients. All this creativity takes time and attention to detail, and we truly appreciate that. Four of us ordered the Mushroom toast, Cauliflower Benny, and Salmon Benny together with Lattes, "Hazelnut" cake and Duo Chocolate Chunk cookie. Every dish was delicious, served to perfection and came with generous portions. The dressing on the salad was to die for! The overall service was spot on. We cannot wait to return and try the rest of the menu! Although we would sit inside instead, as the patio seating is a little noisy due to the passing traffic.

We must like it, we even bought their cookbook to try some of the recipes, especially the Fondumental, which dragged us back there again and again. It wasn't nearly as plentiful or as yummy as we remembered it, but it's still good. The sandwiches and soups have always been rib sticking and tasty. The ambiance has remained the same over the years, a little dark, but the fireplace and the vintage posters are cool. Our server Gary was excellent, Johnny on the spot with all that we were looking for. Their wine and beer is all local, which is a thing these days. My lobster bisque with the FAB salad hit the spot, and the bread piece was exceptional. The lovely K had the onion soup which she liked although said it could use a little more salt. Make sure you try the lobster bisque as it's one of the meatiest I've had to date; full of that shellfish flavour. Beef bourignon was suggested and I'm glad I took the friendly waitress' recommendation as it was a warm hug on a deep plate. I'd opt to swap for roasted potatoes instead of the mash but the mash does soak up all that delicious stew. The jambalaya is full of different proteins and if you're a fan of that, then I'd make sure to eat this perfectly cooked rice dish. We parked on a side street not too far away and noticed how friendly people were as we walked to the restaurant. Everyone said hello and smiled as we passed through. You certainly don't get that same experience in many other areas of the Lower Mainland. Because it was spur of the moment, we didn't have a reservation. We put our name down with the host and waited about 10-15 minutes for a table. The restaurant was a little noisy but not overwhelmingly so. We both had coffee, which was really good. I should've asked what kind of coffee they serve because it's not very often the regular drip coffee is this good. I was having a hard time deciding between the Blvd Blackstone Benny with maple bacon and the Smokey Brisket Benny. I ended up choosing the latter with a side of avocado and my friend had the Huevos Rancheros - he added a side of fried potatoes when he saw how good they looked on my plate. I took one bite of the brisket and I was instantly so glad I chose it. The meat was so tender and flavourful and I didn't even need my knife to cut it. It was phenomenal. My eggs were overcooked but immediately replaced with new eggs when I mentioned it to the server. The replacements were soft with perfectly runny yolks. She also brought extra hollandaise sauce. My friend's meal looked amazing, in fact I now have to come back just so I can have this dish. I wasn't able to finish my meal so I boxed it up to finish later. I will definitely come back here to try more of the menu items, especially when the coffee is this good. Makes me wish I lived closer!
