    Pepperoni and banana peppers

Dough Boys is some of the best pizza in Charleston. My go to order is the pepperoni and banana pepper pizza. The owners are super friendly and entertaining to follow their instagram. They usually frequent and are serving pizza at Graft, low tide and do a Tuesday popup in Edmunds Oast Brewery kitchen. The Edmunds kitchen usually has more options like sandwiches and all. The chicken parm sandwich was dank. Big and filling and served piping hot. Next time you are out and see the green & red Dough Boyz sign, order some pizza!

As others have mentions- it the crust (the dough!) that makes this pizza sing. We have oat of their varieties and they are all good. I am partial to red sauce and plain ol' Margarita pizza. Is yummy!! Also their process is super efficient. I have seen the serve huge crowds in environments where other food trucks would break down but Dough Boyz doesn't- everyone stays pretty happy

We tried Dough Boyz while we were at the Sea Island Farmers Market. My young children enjoyed watching them make and bake the pizzas. Service was quick, and they were done in under 10 minutes. This is my favorite style of pizza, and it did not disappoint. The crust was perfect, the sauce was light and tasty, and they used fresh mozzarella. I look forward to ordering from them again.

Dough Boyz was at Low Tide on a Sunday when we visited. They were out front ready for orders, so after review of their menu we went with a margherita pizza. The pizza had a crispy thin crust, which was cooked just right. Even a few dark crispy edges from the oven. The tomato sauce was light but with a tiny amount of spice to it. Then the mozzarella was spread evenly from the heat, and 4 tiny basil leaves on it; I personally would have liked a few more basil leaves. We enjoyed their pizza for the look, taste and flavor. We probably would order it again. Just thought the cost ($15) was a little high for the size. But it was made to order, hand made, cooked in a wood fired oven & we liked it. And what's better than pizza and beer?

One of the best if not THE best pizzas around. My only regret is that they do not have a retail establishment on Johns Island

They have a bar to serve your favorite beverages. This is a great place for families or just hanging out with friends. I ordered a veggie pizza. This is New York style pizza and the slices are huge. The crust was thin and bubbly. The sauce was delicious and the veggies were generous. The pizza was topped with fresh basil. I highly recommend.

Usually we prefer table service, but honestly the bar is the way to go here since you get a front row seat to the pizza making. We ordered a half pepperoni and half sausage pizza. As I saw the beautiful pies coming out of the oven they were all getting dressed with fresh parm and basil and I was worried I didn't add that for ours, but after feverishly flaging down our server he reasured me that all the pizzas come with the special treatment at the end (unless otherwise noted). As I calmed my nerves I sipped on some delicious bottle of sweet tea. It was only the slightest bit sweet and so refreshing. Plus we ordered a salad as well. We were concerned about the size of the salad when we saw our neighbors come out, but our server let us know we could get a half Caesar if we preferred. The salad is a must have. I love how they just chop the ends off the romain and add the perfect amount of dressing, crunchy bread crumbs, and loads of cheese. The pizza came out shortly after and it was perfection. If you're looking for thin crust northern style pizza then you will definitely find it here. They also use top notch ingredients making this a pizza one to remember. Surprisingly I enjoyed the sausage even more than the pepperoni. We were stuffed after only eating half the pie so we boxed it up and took some cannoli to go. They did half regular and half strawberries that had local strawberries mixed into the ricotta! We enjoyed all of it so much that we ordered the same items for takeout only a week later. I definitely enjoyed dining in more than takeout, but both are a great option. The online ordering was super easy and even though it was slammed when I arrived, they had my pizza, salad, and cannoli ready to go at the window when I arrived.

Pizza is also available by the slice, which is what I ended up getting. Originally, I wanted to order an 18-inch cheese pizza, but the waiter told me it would take about 30 minutes and recommended ordering by the slice instead. I tried the cheese pizza by the slice. The pizza had a classic New York-style feel, but my slice was a little dry and slightly burned. It was decent overall, just not the best pizza I've had. If you're looking for a quick carryout spot with New York-style pizza options, it may be worth trying, but I'm not sure it would be my first choice for pizza.

I was told it would take 30 minutes. The waiter said I could have individual slices immediately so I did that with some diet coke. The pizza was good, but a little over heated and dried out. Lots of people were coming in and ordering carryout. This seemed like a popular pizza place. I wasn't super impressed. It was ok.

So it's entirely possible (and understandable) that I don't always get the best of what a place has to offer. That said, this was the worst pizza I've ever eaten. I was happy to see a place offer NY style pizza by the slice; you don't find that a lot in Charleston. Well, you won't find it here either. It was, generously, a home cook's first attempt at making pizza. There's something fundamentally off with the dough recipe, such that even a wood fired oven can't save it. The slices were overloaded with cheese. It was like eating wet cardboard. The meatballs were pretty good! The bartender was super pleasant and the space is attractive and welcoming. But they cannot make pizza. Normally I'm loathe to air out my business on Yelp like this; I prefer to communicate with the server if there's a problem with my food. But this wasn't an execution issue that could be fixed. A do-over would've produced the same result. Maybe, MAYBE they crush it with the neopolitan specialty pies. But I'll never know.
