Definitely the place to go for delicious and large donuts in NYC! They have a few locations, but this location was convenient to walk to if you're in the Flat Iron area. They have about 7-8 different flavor options to choose from, all unique from typical donut shops. I ordered the Nutella Crunch and Apple Strudel. They were both very very good with plenty of flavor and ingredients stuffed in as filling. The dough was light and fluffy too, so a good contrast to the heavier filling. Apple Strudel had fresh apple slices inside, seasoned with cinnamon and a cream cheese/caramel filling. Nutella Crunch was a bit more simple with the hazelnut pieces on top and Nutella cream in the center. I enjoyed both a lot and was certainly full after eating them! The Flatiron outpost is a few blocks from Madison Square Park. The rustic-modern interior sports whitewashed brick-and-paster walls, exposed beams, and a long wooden table running from the entrance to the bakery counter in the back. An orchid-decked shelf and Pointillism portraits featuring small doughnut dots highlight the otherwise unadorned walls. Slow R&B plays unobtrusively in the background. I arrived around noon to only a few other customers around, and all doughnut varieties were still available. As I browsed the display counter, I observed that the doughnuts were noticeably larger than average, and 1 would be plenty to satisfy a reasonable sweet tooth. But my eyes were larger than my stomach, and I ordered 2 -- a Hibiscus glazed ring and a special Ube Cheesecake filled doughnut. The Hibiscus sported a perfectly light and fluffy dough. The vibrant magenta glaze was fragrant but not overwhelmingly sweet. A thick layer drizzles down the sides of the doughnut, although I wish it covered the otherwise boring bottom as well. A candied hibiscus flower garnish added a pleasant touch, adding a small crisp. While enjoyable as a whole, I don't think I'd feel compelled to order this same variety again. My pleasant experience with the Hibiscus was unfortunately overshadowed by memorably poor Ube Cheesecake. It was heavily filled with a one-dimensional cream cheese filling without any hint of ube. The unpleasantly dense and cakey bread was dusted in equally bland purple sugar. At nearly $6 each, I would expect both doughnuts to be well-executed and exciting. While the Hibiscus was worthy of the visit, the spherical, softball-sized Ube Cheesecake was disappointing. This was our second time stopping by Dough to indulge in some fluffy yumminess. We ordered two seasonal flavors, the Mango Coconut and Strawberry shortcut. Mango Coconut has been my favorite so far! We decided to return because our initial experience (with Passion Fruit and Dulce de Leche doughnuts) was so good we had to get seconds. I personally prefer the yeast-doughnut style, large and airy on the inside, that are provided here over other popular styles used for artisan doughnuts, such as cake-doughnuts. We arrived both times in the late afternoon and the doughnuts are still soft and taste fresh. Come here starved and be prepared not to over do it. I wanted to make my trip to Dough worth while and so I decided to pick 4 doughnuts instead of one. I heard from other reviewers that they are "heavy" and "doughy", while others were praising them. I'm not a big donut/doughnut fan per se. I'm the kind who will not purchase one on my own or have a hankering for one. However, if there are Tim Horton or Dunkin Donut munchkins or donut holes, I'm all about them. My fav would be old fashioned (glazed) and honey-coated. So, I'm not much of sweet tooth as you can tell from my fav donut flavors. As a consequence, I chose (1) lemon poppyseed, (2) cinnamon-sugar, (3) dulce - almond one, and had the hardest time finding the last one... took forever, so I went with (4) vegan glazed. The original glazed was glazed after it was cooled so the glaze was a thick play dough white rather than a sheen over the doughnut. The sales person said she liked the vegan glazed stating that it tastes just like the original, but (and these were her words, not mine) "the vegan ones are less doughy." Who wants a doughy doughnut, anyway, even if the word dough is in the product literally and obviously as a vital ingredient? However, I did make the trek over to this establishment and decided no to turn back but to keep to my original intent of purchasing 4 doughnuts. $4.50/doughnut x 4 + 15% tip come out to just over $20 and so change. The sales person said that they will be closing in 1 hour so she gave me an extra vegan glazed on the house as there were alike over a dozen of them displayed. So... I decided to try the vegan glazed first. It wasn't doughy like she said. Wasn't s so sweet that I had to stop. It was just right. So I thought, if the vegan is this good, I mean REALLY good, I wonder how the originals/non-vegans were. Since I was full by the end of the vegan glazed doughnut, I quartered the other 3 left and took a bite, then another and another. Why do the originals have an over powering deep fry oil taste to them. They were not so sweet, but just very "doughy" like other yelpers have acknowledged in previous reviews. Oily-grease tasting doughiness. I took extra bites because, honestly, I didn't want to be believe what I was experiencing .. I was hoping for the taste to improve somehow... that I would come to enjoy them like a top 40s hit song that gets overplayed on the radio so that we all end up liking it to the point of binging on it before getting over it. But this was not the case in this situation. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND the vegan glazed as it is NOT doughy... just right. And don't go for any others, just don't if you are like me... not a doughnut fiend, but a munchkin/donut bit/hole snatcher, and are just curious about the doughnut craze that has been around for the past 3-4 years, but you just couldn't bother until now--over a year into the pandemic and trying to find something new to love. read more

I'm not going to lie- I was skeptical. More than $5 for a single doughnut? How good could a doughnut be? But Dough is good- dough is very, very good. We got a few different flavors (admittedly too many for 7 of us at more than one doughnut per person). We got the apple crumble, lemon poppyseed, passionfruit, hibiscus, blueberry lavender, and double chocolate. I had a little slice of each and absolutely adored the passionfruit by a long shot. The doughnut is SUPER fluffy. The yeast part is really light and soft. Probably one of the fluffiest doughnuts I've ever had. This was paired against the tangiest passionfruit frosting that was just the perfect blend of sweet and tart. With a cup of tea in the morning, it was just the right amount of sugar without feeling like I would crash.
