The tables and restaurant were clean and nicely spaced apart. You're able to have a conversation at a normal volume without feeling like people are sitting on top of each other. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and would come back again. Ordering is done via your phone and QR code which I think is great. You're able to order at your own pace and see exactly what you've ordered. I believe each person at the table can also "contribute" to the same group order which is nice. We tried a variety of dishes including the XLB, pan fried pork buns, green onion pancake, chicken potstickers, pork wonton (chili sauce on the side), and beef pancake rolls. Everything was brought out quickly and tasted nice and fresh. There is one service experience where they went above and beyond. I accidentally dropped one of the beef pancake rolls on the floor. This was completely my fault. I felt terrible and profusely apologized for the mess that I made. Portions run small so plan to order more than you think you need. Still a great value. For the food itself: The Dan Dan noodles are the move. Oily, salty, spicy, and the Sichuan peppercorns actually numb your face and stick around. Makes sense they're the most popular thing on the menu. Chicken xiao long bao were good but the broth inside was weak compared to other places I've had them. Still good though. Chicken potstickers were well executed, good crisp on the bottom, but nothing standout about them. First time dining here. We were seated to our table and asked to scan the QR code for the menu. Unfortunately we did not have any cell reception so the menu could not be loaded. We asked for a physical menu instead. We were given a shee tof paper with menu items on both sides. Restaurant is not very big but it was spacious. Tables were a little closer together. They were out of a number of items today - the Q-Bao and the Chicken Xiao Long Bao. Maybe I'm missing something about the flavor profile but whatever it is I'm not sure I enjoyed it. Plenty of parking for the 19800 apartments that retail is able to use. Since then, I've been to a few other locations that were much better, but I happened to be in the area and my fam was craving dumplings so we came. Even at an average height, the tables and spacing leave you feeling a bit cramped and squished, which made the dining experience less comfortable than expected. Service was average--not especially attentive or helpful. Cell service inside the restaurant is poor, which made their QR-code ordering system frustrating and ineffective. When we asked for a paper menu so we could check off what we wanted, our server gave us some pushback. As usual, the portions fit the price point: smaller servings, but expected given the lower per-dish cost. I had a nice dining experience here with some friends on a weekday! It's a part of Main St Cupertino, around the corner of Meet Fresh, Ippudo, Somisomi. There's a parking garage for retail if you're struggling to find parking. The restaurant has a modern and chic feel to it with a nice ambience to it. There is a QR code to order, which is straightforward, but you can't pay from your phone. So if you were wondering when you'd get some human interaction during this meal, it'll be when you look at the damage you've done to your wallet, hah. I got a green onion noodle to start while I waited for the vegetable dumplings I ordered. The green onion noodles were okay-I actually dressed it up a lot with the condiments that were provided on the side. It was a nice little bite since I was hungry though. The dumplings came out all skimpy, which was kind of disappointing, too. Overall, dough zone is just alright. It feels like it's catered more to the American palette and American expectations. There are definitely positive aspects to this place. The lunch special provides a nice combination and options for a soup dumpling choice, a noodle dish, and a drink. We liked the Dan Dan noodles. There wasn't a ton of it, as you can see from the picture, but it was good. The drinks were well prepared (flavorful and not too sweet) as well. The fried dumplings (sorry, no pic of those) that are all joined by some light/crispy bits on the bottom were delicious too! My primary reason for not giving 5 stars is the soup dumplings were good, but not great. The pork ones were flavorful and the dumplings were filled with savory juices from the pork, but on both the pork and pork/crab dumplings, the dough wasn't really up to the highest standards. Thicker than ideal and a little more doughy. No real danger in the skin breaking and juices flowing out before you eat it - because it's fairly thick. The crab/pork one wasn't quite as juicy or tasty as the pork-only ones. Price-wise, given today's prices, this was a fine deal, priced fairly. But if they can just refine the skin/covering of the soup dumplings, I think I could fairly rate this as a 5 star place to grab some good Chinese dumplings. read more

Came here on a Monday night at around 5 PM and no one was there. When you sit down, there will be a QR code at your table which will send you to the menu. You can then order directly from toast tab. One huge annoyance was that there is no reception and the wifi there was really bad. We don't want hard time ordering when you walk in hangry. The only time that the server or anyone is talking to you is to show you to your table, bring your tea and food, and give you the check. So if you're not in the mood to talk, this place would be streamlined to your liking. The first time we came to this place we tried a little bit of everything. That included the XLB, the green onion, pancake, the crêpe with crunchy wonton wrapper inside it, the pickled cucumber and the dandan noodles. I thought the crêpe was too strange for my liking. The inside has a fried wonton wrapper, which I know gives texture, but it tasted mealy to me. The cucumber was barely pickled, and even though it was very pretty, I wouldn't order it again. The noodles were tasty, but they were kid sized - think 4 year old. The second time I went, it was only the XLB and the green onion pancake with some tea. I think this place is XLB is in the top three for me in the Mountain View/Cupertino area. The flavor is good, the soup is plenty, and the skin is ever so slightly thicker than I like, but it keeps all of the juice in, so who am I to complain. Pair that with ginger + black vinegar, and two people could easily eat three orders! One order is eight pieces FYI. If I try anything else there, I will certainly update this review. read more

We both really enjoyed the pork q-bao - pan fried bottom was perfect, the filling was yummy and the bao soft and fluffy. I thought both varieties of xlb were good, but nothing extraordinary. I also enjoyed the spicy wontons, but thought it wasn't spicy at all - more sweet with a hint of chili. The zha jiang mian was decent, but my friend didn't really liked it. We love Dough Zone and have enjoyed trying their different locations. Given the consistency across restaurants, there is some redundancy in this review, but essentially their kale salad with sesame dressing is killer (though it could have used slightly more dressing this time), but they don't offer much in the way of supplementary dishes for vegetarians who are largely gluten free. I've resorted to bringing outside broccoli (sorry, not sorry) to turn the kale salad into more of a main dish. This solution makes it a five star meal but I give myself one of those. The ethics of outside food notwithstanding, if Dough Zone had a vegetarian add-on without fish sauce for the kale, I would go every day. Even so, I like going often. read more
