All That and Dim Sum Mom-and-pop run dumpling and noodle house that's been in operation for over ten years (ca.2014) and makes all their goods here in-house. Their specialty is the Huoshao (aka Shaobing) dumpling, which is almost like a croissant and dumpling had an illicit tawdry--but tasty--affair, and this was the fruit of their efforts. Crispy, flaky, buttery, and filled with tender, sumptuous meats. The very definition of food porn at its finest. The Good: *Prices are incredibly reasonable; we ordered ±$50 worth of food and had enough to take him for my son for his lunch, and some munchies for later. *The Huoshao are worth the hype and at least one order, if not three. *Don't sleep on their housemade noods, as they were fabulous as well, with a great chew. *Lamb in the "Lamb Noodle Soup" was tender and delicious *Their more standard dumplings were also delicious, as well. Handmade tender sacks of deliciousness. *Friendly service The Meh: *While the Lamb and Noods were delicious, the broth was a little weak for my liking. But a few drops of the concomitant table soy sauce and chili oil, and it was much, much better. *No alcohol The Ugly: *Restaurant is small and cramped. Not a great place to bring a huge group of folks. Conclusion: Dumpling cravings will be satisfied. 'Nuff said.

Before my buddy suggested coming here for lunch a while back, I had never even heard of Fuji Huoshao. Not all that surprising, considering how I don't live around here, but, after we ended up eating elsewhere, I made it a point to bookmark this place for the future. Between his recommendation and all of their positive reviews on Yelp, they already had two things to help them stand out from all of the other noodle and dumpling spots around this part of San Jose and Cupertino! Now, while I'm sure there may be other hole in the wall joints in this part of San Jose and nearby Cupertino, Fuji Huoshao is definitely the smallest one I've come across so far. Inside, the restaurant is equal parts homely and snug, with just a half dozen tables. Similarly, the menu looked relatively modest, but it actually had a decent amount to offer. In addition to an assortment of small plates, they also have a mix of noodle dishes (both dry and soupy), a handful of soups, dumplings (boiled or pan fried, which costs $1 more...), and, of course, their signature huoshao that you can get with either beef or pork. -- BEEF HUOSHAO This wasn't too shabby, though, it wasn't particularly impressive either. Each piece had a nice, golden brown color to it and the filling was quite juicy. That being said, the dough felt a little chalky/dry and the filling wasn't as flavorful as I thought it would. -- PORK WITH CABBAGE DUMPLING There wasn't anything wrong with this, but I'd be hard pressed to say it was all that unique either. Each dumpling was decently plump and I liked that you could actually discern the pieces of cabbage, but the taste of this was oddly bland and watery. -- NOODLE COOKED WITH MEAT SAUCE As fantastic as this Zha Jiang Mian looked, the taste of it fell short. On the plus side, the noodles were great and I liked how it came with a good amount of cucumbers. However, not only was it super salty, but something about the sauce felt off, too (not sure if it was the black bean base or the meat). Considering how so many folks seem to think so highly of Fuji Huoshao, part of me can't help but wonder if we didn't get the right things or if we happened to come on a bad day. Either way, there's no question that my experience was pretty underwhelming. Perhaps I'll be back one day and will end up having a better meal than what we had this time. Although, given the sheer volume of restaurants in the area that I've yet to try, I can't say it'll happen anytime soon. TWO AND A HALF STARS (generously) rounded up.

First time trying lamb dumplings and it was so good! We got ours pan fried and each bite was packed with flavor and juice. The meat pancakes were so good as well.

I've visited this spot a few times now and let me say service and quality of food has been consistent every time. The Huoshao is fried perfectly, the dumplings have a great ratio, and the staff are friendly! The lamb soup is light and clean, and the noodles are hand-pulled...win! Portions are good and filling Interior wise, it's a bit on the smaller side but 1: has a clean, minimalist vibe that isn't overwhelming and 2: feels spacious with their use of clean mirrors. Price is pretty fair , for one person it's roughly $20 but you'll still probably end up with stuff to take home. They also have frozen huoshao for $15 (10 pieces) so it's easy to stock up for the airfryer at home.

Great, authentic food. We ordered their signature pork huoshao, lamb noodle soup, noodle with meat sauce, and three deluxe dumplings. Both noodles were great, and the handmade noodles had great texture. The lamb meat was flavorful and tender. That being said, we wished there was a bit more soup in the lamb noodle soup. The huoshao were filling and crispy, and the dumplings were generously stuffed. Fuji huoshao is a small shop with a handful of tables inside. Service was extremely fast and welcoming. You can also see employees hand-making dumplings at the counter. Prices are very reasonable.

I bought about seven piece beef huoshao and I just finished them in half an hour. The are just so good. This is also my first time

Small mom&pop handmade dumplings, super fresh and piping hot. Clean, honest, friendly, pretty fast service. Prices on the menu have been revised upwards, but this is still one of my go-to lunch spots. For reference, another customer carrying a Yeti cooler just came in to buy a bag of frozen pork cabbage dumplings 50 pieces for $30

My boyfriend says this is literally the only place you find this kind of food and lol if you scroll down enough or maybe even the next review, you'll read his for a more in-depth and detailed review on this type of cuisine. I can't comment much about my own knowledge, but if something is good, I'll just eat it and this was a great place to get lunch! It's a small, family owned restaurant, but you can tell that it is popular with the locals as most of the tables were filled. Service was very polite and helpful and very efficient for how many tables there were. We got the: 1) Cold noodle with meat sauce: -This reminds me of the black bean noodles, but as a meat sauce you get way more meat to it. It's a bit denser too because of that, but still pretty good. Nice and filling for cold noodles and comes with generous portion of thinly sliced cucumber to add some crunchy texture as well. 2) Lamb soup: -Nice big hot bowl of lamb soup. -Soup broth had a strong lamb flavor to it and there's a good amount of offal and some cut scallions in it too. -Decent dish. I'm not the biggest enjoyer of offal, but I was able to enjoy a bit of it. 3) Beef Huoshao (6 pieces): -Honestly my first time trying this dish and it's really easy to eat. Not offense at all. -If you have friends that like empanadas or Hot Pockets but wanna try something more "exotic" this is a great dish to suggest to them or to order when you take them here (cuz apparently you can't get this anywhere else!). -To me, they remind me of less flaky, chewy pate chaud which has more of a croissant breading and a bigger beef patty inside. -These huoshao are more flattened but have a nice weighty denseness to them so you don't feel like you're gonna starve after. The breading outside has multiple layers and these pieces taste good dipped in soy sauce and vinegar. I'd go back again!

The food is good! Never eaten at this restaurant but had takeout once and delivery another time. Just look at the photo! Not to be missed are the dumplings and huoshao, obviously...

Came primary for the dumpling. And the curiosity of their HuoShao 火燒, typically a northern China thing. So we ordered those. Then, why not, tried their lamb scraps soup 羊雜湯, meant to be the soup of scraps of lamb. Dumplings were quite eatable. I will come again for those. The others were not remarkable, yet not bad. I probably wouldn't do the soup again, it was very diluted from flavors. Guess this is a good place for simple comfort foods for a non-stressed meal. Many came for their frozen to-go items. I can see the appeal. The problem is that category (simple comfort Chinese foods) is now very crowded in this area.

This place has no competition. No, like literally, I am not aware of any other restaurant in the entire country that serves huoshao. If you google huoshao in English, you literally only get this restaurant. In short, if you go here, you are basically getting a regional cuisine that you cannot get anywhere else in the English-speaking world. I think by default, this place gets five stars by virtue of being the best restaurant in the entire country in the cuisine they specialize in (as they are the only such restaurant). That being said, it helps that the restaurant is also pretty good on its own merits as well. Unsurprisingly, Fuji Huoshao and Dumpling specializes in huoshao and dumplings. Huoshao is a meat pastry from inland Northeast China, apparently supposedly popularized by the Manchu maybe. It's traditionally eaten with lamb offal soup - sometimes translated elsewhere as Chinese Haggis (which is honestly a bizarre translation) which they conveniently also serve. If you were not familiar with the cuisine, you might even mistake it for fusion food - which it is in the sense that almost all food starts out as fusion food (see e.g., Japanese curry). Pretty much most of the items on the menu are authentic traditional foods from Northeast Chinese, so mainly pastries (like dumplings and huoshao) or noodle dishes. I am not sure if they have rice on the menu, but it'd be probably pretty weird to order rice here. Their huoshao is actually interesting to me - it was a lot flakier and puffier than I traditionally have had it. So arguably it's a fancier, tastier huoshao. I guess that's their unique improvement and it's pretty good. The lamb offal soup was good. It's pretty much what you expect, definitely simmered for a good amount of time to be flavorful. Gets the job done. I had the zajian noodles, which was filling and tasty. It was also a unique dish because it was kind of a halfway point between Korean-style jajangmen and the Shandong-style (aka the kind you typically see in Chinese restaurants). I can't completely tell, but I think there's a nice soybean paste that gives it better flavoring than usual. Highly recommended for hungry people! I say this in the best possible way, but this is actually a pretty good place to take friends who don't like Chinese or Asian food to - precisely because it's so authentic. Minus the dipping sauce (which is yeah, soy sauce and vinegars), Northeastern Chinese food isn't really categorized by many of the same taste palettes or staple foods that characterize other Asian cuisines. The cuisine is also...not particularly popular in China itself, so it's not that easy to find. So definitely a place everyone should try out, even picky eaters! Hope to go back soon and have the dumplings too! Definitely recommend everyone stop by this once-in-a-country opportunity dining experience!!

Oh my goodness. This is so good for a noodle soup. It has the essentials. Broth, meat and noodles. There isn't anything glamorous about this meal. It is for the simple days. The times when days are rough and you need a warm hot broth with chewy noodles and lamb. The lamb of the free. Home of the brave. This is for the days when you feel like your heart is in need of warmth. When on a cold winter's day, your mind starts to think, is Christmas coming yet? Then you come here (before 8pm) to feast on these noodles. Only $14 or $15. And just look at all that meat. By the way. The lamb dumplings are amazing. Game changer. Bought a pack of 50 frozen cause I loved them so much

Cash only for frozen dumplings sale and under $25 purchases is the biggest bummer here. The service is excellent. It was quiet lunchtime when I arrived at 1 pm with no customers, but the restaurant looked clean and organized. There were two ladies wrapping dumplings as I made my order, and they asked me to wait while the cook made the fresh huoshao. They were courteous and friendly while I stayed there. They offered me to sit down, waiting for my takeout. It's my first time here, and I was curious about their huoshao, which seems to be a semi-fried/baked pancake with meat inside. You can choose pork or beef; each order comes with 6, but you cannot mix and match, which is a pity. I picked the pork one and could smell the freshly fried smell when the order was delivered. So, it passes the fragrant smell test. When I tasted it, it was okay; I wish there was more flavor in the meat filling, but I also hope it's not too salty. At the same time, the filling needs to be more pungent in taste since the dough is mostly bland flour. They also sell frozen dumplings; a bag of 50 is around $30 and a box of 30 is $25. but they're cash-only, which is uncommon nowadays.

We walked in right at opening to a completely empty dining room. The XLB are a nice size, with each precious dumpling cradled in its own foil wrapper for maximum soup retention. The potstickers were full of flavor, packed with protein, delicately wrapped, and had the crispiest, golden bottoms! Jelly fish was fresh and the pea sprouts were a hit!
