I went here on a dreary rainy evening with the intent to try a plain doughnut. I know how boring but that's usually my favorite. I couldn't believe the crowds. Every table was full and there was a non stop flow of visitors. You go to the counter and fill out a form with your name and the type of doughnut you'd like or you can opt for a custom doughnut with up to 3 toppings if I'm not mistaken. I sat there and was offered a fresh plain doughnut while I waited for my Nutella Raspberry doughnut to be prepared. Oooh how delightful and fresh! I swore I tasted a hint of citrus all I know is that that doughnut didn't have a chance! The owner apologized for the wait and was just a pleasant and friendly as she could be. I came here after all of my friends were so hype about it. I was so disappointed. I got here 10 minutes after opening thinking that I would get some hot fresh donuts. Sad to say that my donut was very cold in the middle as if it was made the day before and placed in the fridge. Oh and they only have cake donuts, no yeast donuts. And their cake donuts are very cakey meaning their super duper heavy. I felt like I was eating a dense cupcake with a hole in the middle. It really felt like pound cake. That in addition to it being cold in the middle didn't make for a very appetizing taste. Being that it is located in Lynbrook, and that I live in Queens, I wouldn't return to the place but, I will definitely return if I am in the area. These are a treat! Whenever my boyfriend worked around here and saw me that day, he surprised me with the different delicious creations of donuts. I had a pretty big donut that was based off the rainbow cookie, coated in a thin soft chocolate and with an actual rainbow cookie on top. Another time I had a more standard donut- of chocolate and a candy cane on top. The candy cane was actually more sweet than minty. I look forward to how they are creative and don't compromise taste. I attempted to give this place a shot today and ended up leaving empty handed. Maybe I just came in at a bad time, but it was chaotic. Actually ordering doughnuts was a challenge. There didn't seem to be any kind of line for customers so customers were just milling around the counter, just as confused as I was about how you actually order anything. When someone was ready to take my order of 6 doughnuts, I was told this was a "large order" and I had to write down what I wanted on a notebook. I looked to where she was pointing and didn't see anything to write on. Then someone quickly came out to hand me one but neglected to provide a pen. Um....ok. Kind of an important detail to overlook... Also, I found the whole idea of having to write my order down to be off putting. Pretty much everywhere else, the customer orders and the staff writes it down. I have to organize my order for them? Seems lazy. I attempted to get someone's attention to ask for a pen, but due to the chaotic nature of what was happening behind the counter, nobody was paying any attention to me. Soooooo did I lose my spot in line or something? Clearly the staff had moved on and forgot about me. Luckily I remembered I had a pen on me, so I jotted down my order but then was unsuccessful in getting anyone's attention to actually hand it to them. I made several attempts but the employees would just look at me confused and then go attend to something else without any indication of who I should give my order. This went on for a LONG time which gave me plenty of opportunity to observe what was happening behind the counter. I was a little concerned about the employees handling the food bare handed, then handling other things behind the counter and then returning to the food without washing their hands or anything. To say the least, it was unappealing. They'd be wise to invest in some plastic gloves before someone gets sick. Being unable to place my order, along with the risk of getting contaminated food left me feeling like I was better off coming back another time when they have a system down and the employees know what they're doing. The good news is that they had some really interesting items on the menu like peanut butter cup doughnuts and chocolate Oreo doughnuts. Hopefully I'll get to try them someday. Plus they have a billion different items to customize a doughnut any way you want, which is cool. My suggestion to management is to organize the whole system of what's going on behind the counter, come up with a simple ordering procedure for customers and pay a MUCH closer eye to food safety. I think an assembly line model would work much better. A lot of this probably has to do with the place being brand new, so I'll check back in a week or so and see if anything's improved. read more

The older brunette woman behind the counter was so unnecessarily rude for no reason whatsoever. Anytime we asked anything about their donut concept and specials, she looked like she couldn't possibly roll her eyes any harder because she'd end up with her pupils facing the back of her head. We ordered what we wanted and she put such little effort into paying attention to us that she gave us 2 wrong donuts out of 4 donuts we ordered. She set the negative tone for this place which made it hard to fully enjoy their product. If you do visit this venue, hopefully you'll have a less moodier miserable employee attend to you. I'm a bit of a donut snob since I've been spoiled with dough, cinnamon snail and doughnut plant but considering there are not many options out in li, this is decent. They have a variety of intricate flavors - all which are very enticing! However the delivery falls a bit flat and it actually is a bit hard to distinguish one chocolate based donut from another (e.g., the chocolate peanut butter tastes the same as the Nutella and s'mores donuts). The cake is dry and doesn't have much flavor/ but definitely more flavorful than a Dunkins cake donut. I bought 6 donuts on a Friday night- tasted a bit stale. maybe they weren't fresh? Maybe they don't have much foot traffic? I'm not sure. The place was empty and still had an hour to go. Pricing is fair, packaging and cake decorating are cute and the place looks nice and clean. I was never find if doughnuts because the only doughnuts available for such a long time when I was growing up were from Dunkin & the grocery store, & even the grocery store's were okay, but never great. A true lover of all things sweet, I was so excited to give Doughology a try yesterday. When you walk in, the smell of the actual doughnuts hit you in the face in the most appealing way & brighten up your senses; your brain immediately infers: this is going to be awesome! I have been trying to keep things in moderation lately, so although I wanted one of each, I ordered one for myself, my uncle, & my grandfather. Two Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups for my uncle & myself & an Apple Strudel for my grandfather. We loved them & my uncle inquired how much I payed for the 3 which was $5.51 to be exact. I think that for three doughnuts to literally be fresh & piping hot & put together in front of you to order is a very fair & reasonable price. They're definitely having growing pains, but the concept is great! Donuts are a bit messy. I bought the maple bacon and the french toast because I wanted to try what they had but I much prefer trying flavors that are already prepared rather than asking for specific toppings. The toppings are placed on top in a kind of messy fashion. There was whipped cream on the french toast, which prevents it from being something I can try later. The maple bacon had maple syrup added to it, which was also too messy for it to be "to go." The coffee on the other hand.. is really good. I'm a sucker for locally roasted coffee, and back when I lived in Chicago I really loved the large variety of coffee from local roasters. In fact, that was a perk that I really enjoyed about my local coffee shop. So when I saw they had locally roasted beans, and when I tried the medium blend available, I was happy. Even happier when I saw I could put my own desired amount of cream/sweetener in it, because it's really irritating when the shop puts it in for you and you have very little say as to how much goes in. All that said, I'd love to see them trim down and round out in other areas. That corner is a PERFECT location for commuters who are looking for a fast coffee and pastry, and quality as well as transportability really does matter. I'd much rather it were just the flavors, and made in a much less messy way with the ability to eat it now or later. They also have ample seating room, so it would be amazing if they improved their menu to include a few savory items that might encourage people to sit and work from their shop, more like it was a cafe. It's so close to getting there, and you can tell the owners are really thinking about it. I really do wish them the best, and I hope to watch their improvement. read more

I really enjoyed Doughology! I actually stumbled upon this coffee/donut shop while at the Lynbrook station and I'm so glad that I did. This place is so cute and cozy! I had a lemon coconut donut with chocolate drip on top which was about $2 a donut and the hot chocolate was $1.50 I think. Came here early Sunday morning, was greeted with a line at the door of about 10 people. I stuck it out in the wind to try these things. Was it worth it ehhh, I wouldn't wait on line again now after doing it. 15 minutes outside and 30 minutes inside, was a little pain in the butt. The ordering process is a little slow, but they are assembling the donuts right in front of you. The girls are very nice and attentive. The donuts are good, but the base flavor of the donut taste like an entenmans cakey donut to me. The topping are good. The stand outs were the lemon coconut, apple strudel and oreo.
