The new owners were relatively nice......however. Orange Bang and slushies are still on their online menu but they do not sell them. They did make us up one slushie tho. The bill was nearly $20.00 for about $7 of mediocre food. Three hotdogs, 1 fry, 1 order mozzarella sticks, 1 slushie. Hotdogs were small and pencil thin, have never seen such thin hotdogs in my life in the Chicago area, home of the famous Chicago dog. Not here. Toppings were over the top incorrect. Got everything on top that I specifically didn't want and didn't receive what I specifically wanted. The 1 "cheese" dog was like a tip of a butter knife of liquid cheese, like seriously, a dollop. Stopped in as I'm a dog guy. Love the small place. The hot dog was ok ....not hot !! So much relish you can't fully taste the dog ! I loved the cucumbers ! I will never go here again!!! People are rude, they're way over priced and the food is not good!! Due to a medical problem I can't have seeds in my diet, so I have to ask for 2 bottom buns for my burger, they not only questioned WHY, they charged extra for it. I tried this place twice because its close to my house and EVERYONE at my house got horrible diarrhea and vomiting both times. Also, my neighbor, who is the sweetest lady ever went to Doug's Dogs and their hotdog cart blew into her car and smashed her door in! The owner was kind about it and exchanged insurance information; but then never payed my neighbor for any of the damages after her insurance company said it was "an act of God"!!! Really? I can't remember the last time I went to a fast food place that was so down to earth, friendly and with a family orientated atmosphere. Cheryl was so nice to us and gave us a few samples of her food and it was REALLY GREAT! Her chili is amazing, and does not give you that greasy nasty after feeling afterwards like most other chili from fast food places. We just moved here and didn't know what time they opened but they served us a half hour before opening time and in no way made us feel rushed or antsy to leave. I thought this place was ok I had a spicy joe dog I think that's what it was called. It was good you get to choose between a beef or pork dog I went with the beef it comes with spicy chilli, and whateverelse you would like to get on it .I got everything on it no cucumbers. The fries were decent but would have been better if they were fresh cut not frozen ones. I asked the girl in the front if their beef was homeade and she said yes it was kind of think and there were a lot of fatty parts on it. I would come here again just for the dogs or maybe try a homeade brat but I won't have the fries or beef again. they also have only a couple tables outside and no hi chair so it wasnt really good for my son either we had to hold him and eat at the same time. read more

This place is dear to my heart as I once worked at this location many moons ago when it was a Jrs. I like what the current owners have done to the menu. They have a spicy buffalo chicken sandwich that has homemade sauce. It is AWESOME!!! I still love their dogs. They are always prompt and courteous. They have the best cheese fries on the planet. This place is very close to my house so I decided to try it out. I ordered an Italian beef/sausage combo. It was about $7 and I don't mind paying that much if it's good but it was horrible! The beef didn't have good flavor and the texture of it was so nasty, and the sausage again no flavor at all! I was warned by coworkers not to eat at this rathole!!! I however, was seriously craving a Chili Dog. I called and someone answered the phone simply saying "hello". I asked, "Is this Doug's Dogs" and the rude gentleman said yeah....I then proceeded to ask about placing a pick up order and he scoffed and hung up!!!! Surprised thinking maybe it was a mistake I called back. Whoever it was continued to answer the phone and hang it up. I had a friend of mine call from her phone and they answered!!!!!!!!!! Its apparent they have caller ID and because I questioned if this was the correct establishment since he didnt answer the phone professionally he hung up!??? This place is a joke! Especially since I was going against everything everyone has told me and was going to spend my money anyway. Divine intervention was in place and in my favor. Luckily for me, I did not waste my time going there nor will I ever since they dont have enough common sense to hire a professional staff to at least answer the phone the right way. I haven't been here in years so I stopped in with my family. It was no where near as good as I remember. They were over priced and lower quality. The shake had pieces in it (wasn't a malt shake) and it tasted like frozen milk. The only good thing were the fries. Very sad to find out that this business was sold to new owners! I was hoping it would be as good as when Cheryl owned it. Many items are no longer available, like fried mushrooms. I ordered a polish and a hot dog. The polish looked like it had been sitting there for 48 hours! The hot dog bun was hard. Very disappointing! There's not a whole lot to say about this place. It's a little hot dog stand with some picnic tables outside for you to eat at. The hot dogs are great. They are the only thing I ever order there, so I can't comment on the rest of the food... but, it's all frozen stuff anyway I think. So, hard to mess it up really. The prices are good. It's a good place to go if you're in the mood for a eating a hot dog outside on a nice day. This a little treasure of a hot dog stand! I'm 26 years old and have lived in Oak Forest for about 24 years. I cannot remember a time when this place was not there. It's changed names and owners a few times over the years, but I always remember it being a hot dog stand. The current proprietor is named Cheryl, and she is a sweetheart. I always enjoy the times I pop in and she is there working. Doug's dogs has improved greatly since she took the helm. All of the food is quite good here. All of the soups, the coleslaw, sloppy joe, chili is homemade. (I believe the soups are). And the chili here is fantastic, the only way I think one could get better chili than Doug's has to offer, is to make it themselves! The prices are good, there are always good specials, and Cheryl is always coming up with new items for the menu. So if you're looking for a new place to check out and you're in the area, you won't be disappoint with Doug's. read more
