Nice atmosphere, great little gem near cottage grove park, kid & dog friendly. I can walk here from the house! They have dog bowls and a wash basin to get water out of to fill the bowls. They also have a self serve ice water cooler for humans. And ping pong. Inside the back room they have Golden Tee, but when they're busy there is usually already a group playing it. They have also a "juke box" They have food...and they have expanded their menu the longer they've been open. They have the sound on during Texans games, and lots of TVs inside and out. My favorite little neighborhood bar. There's space inside and outside for seating and the bar extends outside. The food is excellent. My favorite items are the pizza (served all day) and the BLT (served during brunch). I think they could definitely have more competitive pricing when it comes to their drinks, but I also understand that it's a small establishment. I don't mind paying the extra dollar or two per drink when I can walk to the bar :) read more

Place is nice but they need major improvement in their management. If you do not have waitstaff train your bar staff to go out and check on people instead of standing around and... don't be a manager that is looking over your bartenders instead of checking in on guests. I hate seeing micromanaging. Another thing, I shouldn't have to repeat my name four times to a bartender when its slow, seriously. i know I'm nitpicking, but other than that, food was decent, went on a Monday for steak night, pretty nice, good craft beers and drinks. They may not have too impressive of a brew selection on draft, but it's convenient, literally "down the street" from my place of abode. It's a bit on the pricey side for a neighborhood bar, but it's well maintained with spacious seating. Dog and stroller friendly for outdoor seating. I haven't tried too much from the food menu, but things are generally tasty. All in all, I like the place as a watering hole in the neighborhood, but probably wouldn't seek the place out to come here specifically if I didn't live nearby. read more

Horrible experience. The new manager is rude and she needs to learn people skills. The drinks are way over priced however the bar staff has always been friendly to me my husband and our dog so we have been almost everyday. We live around the corner and have been regular customers since this place opened and after today will never return. Today I stopped by right when they opened for my daily visit and this new manager yelled at me because I had my dog with me. The outside window wasn't opened yet so I was holding her and quickly ordering inside. No customers other than me were in the bar and I was alone so couldn't leave her outside. Super cute atmosphere! Beautiful patio furniture and plenty of seating. Arrived about midnight Saturday night and it was steadily busy. We ordered the sangria,a few beers and tried out the empanadas. Empanadas were good but nothing too special. Everything was efficient and service was good. I like all the tv's as well. I can definitely see this as a place to go with the girls as well! I'm going to give this place a few more tries- it seems like it can be a good neighborhood spot, especially in the fall. I love places that have dog-friendly patios, the one here looks really nice. They have a ping pong table, good seating, and two TVS. The only thing is: there is no one outside right now because it's summer. There aren't any fans outside- so I sat outside for about half a minute before leaving. I'm sure it'll be an awesome spot when it gets cooler, but for now the patio is a waste of space without any fans. I'm going to come back and try more on their menu- so far everything has been good! As for the crowd: Lots of twenty-something frats/preps. Surprisingly, also quite a few kids with their parents. If you want to catch a drink in the neighborhood; this is probably a good place to stop by- even if you can't get a sitter. Parking lot is extremely small and packed. I would recommend taking Uber- it looks like they have a discount if you can show your Uber receipt. read more

Had drinks and pizza there last night with my brother and a friend. The place draws a young crowd, which is fine, and overall nice ambiance. Really liked that it's tucked away in a neighborhood. Was quite busy so that's a good sign. Bartenders and bussers were pleasant. Overall we liked our drinks and pizza. Our only comment was that they should have waiters. Not sure what it's like in the afternoons since it was our first time, but they don't have them at night (at least not Sat night). We commented that it was inconvenient to go to the bar and we'd have ordered more drinks if someone came to the table. If you're under 30, you'd probably really enjoy it. read more

Down The Street is like a lounge/sports bar hybrid. There is a really spacious lounge area split into two different rooms, but there are also two big screen TV's that always have ESPN on them too. They also have the best outdoor patio. It's spacious and the layout seems like someone went to a lot of trouble to make sure it looks nice. They have several Texas beers on tap, but also some from the west coast that I haven't been able to find at any other bar in Houston. I haven't tried any cocktails yet, but the prices listed on the menu seem reasonable. Steak night is awesome! The steak came out exactly how I ordered it and the scalloped potatoes had a lot of flavor. They don't skimp on the portion size either. read more

Yesterday, my sorority sisters and I celebrated our sisterhood at Down the Street. I booked the private room, at no cost, which was the reason we chose this restaurant because only one person had been before. Everyone and everything was great! The parking isn't so great, but this is characteristic for that part of town. The food was delicious--I had the frittata and they even let me substitute for grits. Everyone in our party enjoyed their food! The mimosas were right! The staff was friendly and accommodating. We felt welcomed in a part of town that isn't always welcoming to people who look like me. One of my favorite watering holes. Great atmosphere, tasty drinks, plenty of TVs for any game on, and the food is outstanding! On certain nights, they have food specials. Monday is steak night for $16. It includes a salad, thick cut 18 once ribeye, and scalloped potatoes. The steak is a very high quality piece of meat I would easily pay $30 for. On another occasion, I got a pork chop special that was outstanding. I don't go here to eat, I go to have a few drinks and socialize with buddies, but the food it fantastic! We live in the area and have never had any complaints. Unfortunately that never lasts. We came here with a group of 8 people and received all drinks our first round. We order 8 Stella beers that were all very hot beers and 7 tequila shots. We then received five shots and 8 hot beers. Once I approached both woman managers about this issue they both agreed we should be cut off due to my complaint. We will not be back nor will I recommend this bar to any friend or family members. I really hope the management changes because we really enjoyed coming to this bar being locals. read more

We went here for brunch today and I have to say that I went thinking, hmm...a bar for brunch....well ok if that's where the son wants to go, but I was very pleasantly surprised. We were blessed with amazing weather, but the brunch was great too. There was a nice outdoor patio that is dog friendly and not too crowded and the food (order at the bar, not a huge menu) was fantastic. I had the BLT with scrambled egg and it was delicious. Others had the sweet potato hash, the brisket hash and the egg on an island and everyone loved their food. I highly recommend it for a nice, relaxing brunch with great food. read more

Met some girlfriends at this trendy local bar here for Bingo night! The first Wednesday of almost every month is Bingo night. The bingo paper sheets are provided and free, but you must either bring your own dauber or purchase one at the bar for around $2-$3 each. The night I was there, 10 rounds of bingo were played and the prizes for each round included things like a nice men's grooming set, tickets to an Astros vs Yankees game, a gym membership, and a beer gift basket! Bingo started at 7pm. The Bingo night was very crowded..as in no seating outside..so we sat inside which was still awesome. Get there early on Bingo nights (before 7) to ensure seating and good parking. The inside is dimly lit and not too loud. The bus boys were extremely attentive in cleaning up anything we were no longer using on our table. My friend and I wanted a snack so we ordered the Autumn Cheese Plate for $12 which came with burrata, manchego, and brie along with bread, fig jam, and pears. It was excellent! As for the general crowd, I am 22 and definitely felt as if my friends and I were some of the youngest there. General crowd was probably between 25-30. Overall, our experience was wonderful and I will definitely be coming back and bringing friends and family. read more

Thinking this was a dog friendly bar we decided to do brunch here. Sat outside for a good 10 minutes and no waiter. I had seen the table next to me have a server so I assumed he would come back to me. That did not happen. Went inside the bar to ask for a menu and with significant attitude the bartender obliged. After ordering she did not ask for payment nor did she say I needed to pay at that time. My friend came and had a small lap dog. I told her she can go in and order, again with lots of attitude and rudeness the waitress told her to get her dog out. With all of that she ended up not eating there. At the end I went back in to pay for my meal. I don't know if the bartender understand the business of customer service, but when I asked if there was a manager to talk to, it was a swift and harsh no. Once I paid the bill I overheard the customer say I guess you lost that battle. Most likely making that comment as I had my dog on a leash with me. It is safe to say that I will not be giving this local restaurant any further business. read more

I wasn't that fond of the Moscow mule, but loved the place overall. Biggest downfall is that it can get pricey. No parking lot. You have to look look look and look for parking in the street far far away from this place so I suggest you take uber. If you are looking for a quiet and neighbor-y place (if that makes sense) then this is for you but if you want a more hype and fun place to be at go somewhere else.
