    Winter special old fashioned

Better Luck Tomorrow has been a staple for cocktails in the Heights for a while now. You can't go wrong with some of their classics like the old fashioned or salty cat. I also love some of the others like the piña colada, margarita, and hurricane (I like these even though I'm not that into sweet drinks). They also have great food options, although they do tend to be a little on the heavy side. Pro tip: their happy hour is great, half off everything from 2-5 during the week.

Very cute place! I've been here a handful of times and have had a great time each time. The staff are very sweet! There's indoor and outdoor seating, but if you're looking to sit inside definitely get there early because it fills up fast! My friends and I sat outside last night, and they had heaters on since it was quite chilly. As for what we ordered, I got their boozy hot chocolate (minus the booze because I was DD). I would not get it again. It was watery, and for the price I was expecting a bigger glass... I did however LOVE their fries with Parmesan cheese fondue. It was so delicious. Lastly, I had ordered a dirty Bombay gin martini for my friend's birthday, and while we didn't receive that (the bartender asked me multiple questions about said martini and then when repeating my order back to me said something about "a salty cat", I assumed he was making up a fun name for the martini so I didn't think anything of it. Turns out, the salty cat is a different drink on their menu) the drink we did receive was delicious!

Had the burger + two frozen margs and everything was delicious. Big plus for the outdoor seating! The servers were really friendly too:)

Two things I love here... the mezcal margarita and the fried pickles. They are seriously SOOOOOO good!! They have the best fried pickles I've ever had and I don't say that lightly. Place is cute, I've sat on the covered patio and inside. I've come during the week and on the weekend. All good vibes. Servers are okay, sometimes they feel a bit clicky when hanging up by the bar waiting to take out orders. There's just a different air about them versus a lot of the true like south kindness in other places around Houston.

This place is fire. We first rode our bikes over here for a Sunday brunch and sat on the patio. The patio is large and extends around the building. I believe most or all of it is covered. There's a small parking lot and some street parking, so biking, walking, car sharing is probably your best bet. But trust and believe we've been back several times after the first and was able to find parking. The food was good, but I'm here to write about the booze. They have a great happy hour throughout the week, outside of that the drink prices are about average for the city. Meaning double digits. But let me tell you, if you're an Irish Coffee lover this is theeee place to be. And it's not an Irish house. The whipped top is thick and adds the right amount of sweetness to the bitter coffee. Oh it's beautiful. It's boozy enough that after one you're feeling the vibe. I'm sad to say that I can't recall what the other drink pictured was called. It was the hubs, but I tasted it and it was nicely balanced. When and if I get past their Irish gem, I really want to try their unique Martinis and gins I can't forget the service. It was attentive each time we went. They have a great thing going here.

    Wagyu Birria Tacos with Consommè

Stopped by Better Luck Tomorrow to try their new summer Tuesday special, which included wagyu birria tacos. We arrived during happy hour and the place was packed at 3pm. The inside was full so we sat on the patio outside. It was in the mid 90s but it wasn't terribly hot. The tacos were served hot and had a lot of flavor. The consommè was thick. I've had more flavorful, but it did the trick. They also have a take on an Italian Beef sandwich, which is something that is standard fare for Chicago. Their version, which will not be pictured, has chili crunch added, which I was told is on the spicier side. Overall, good additions to the BLT menu.

Great cocktails and bites, their happy hour is so good, all the cocktails are only $7 which feels rare nowadays. We enjoyed all the drinks we ordered (especially the lychee one w raspberry ice), and they had some good holiday specials too. Food wise, everything we got was surprisingly delicious, the crudo and mushrooms were super good and the Parmesan fondue that we ordered with the fries was great and a large portion. The vibe is nice and service is fast, would come back!

This is a cute little bar that has optional outside seating on the corner of a busy street. It was raining when we arrived so we sat inside for drinks. You must order your drinks at the bar, even if you're sitting at a table and they bring it to you. A waiter was a guy with a big fro. He was very attentive and quick with getting us our drink. This is my first time here, but I will definitely come here to start off a night of barhopping or to just grab a drink in a cool place. I did not try the food.

I love this place. Seriously. It was my favorite spot on this recent trip to Houston. And I ate and drank at some great places, however Better Luck Tomorrow is the only place I went to twice in the short 4 day timeframe. So that says a lot. Once during daylight hours, and second trip a bit more late night. Both times were excellent. We only did a snack each time and I would have liked to eat more there but it just worked out that way. Both dishes we had were superb- oysters and crab cake. Yum!!! But the shining star of this spot, besides the chill ambiance and coolness without trying too hard, are the perfect cocktails. I imbibe often and regularly, I know my cocktails. These were so well balanced and delicious. If I lived in Houston I would for sure be a regular here. Friendly staff, efficient service, good price points for the quality, great drinks and food-- 5 stars easily. And hopefully I will have some better luck tomorrow after coming here, thanks for the well wishes!

Love this little place...and introduced it to a friend during a recent happy hour. Great happy hour options, have good lite bite options. Plus the grilled cheese is delish! I'm also hooked on their fries!! You need to place your drink order at the bar, but food gets brought to you. Everyone was super friendly! Patio seating is perfect on a beautiful day! Note - they do allow smoking on the patio. Seating inside is great too. Parking lot is tight and limited but there is street and area parking.

    Giovanna C.

Place has a great ambiance and heaters outside, no smoking zones. Kids are allowed there. The food was great, the drinks are pretty good the salty cat is very good. Our server was very accommodating but got a bit sour at the end of the night. I totally recommend this place.

We weren't drinking so we did mocktails. Their selection is solid. I recommend the Million Dollar Baby and the New Madness. For the oysters, we did 2 of each: fried, smoked and roasted. I would low key just come back for oysters next time. They were that damn good. I was let down by the dry-aged burger. Even though I ordered the burger as medium, it was pretty dry. I've had better burgers from joints around town. Not worth $24. The Chicken entree was an absolute let down. I won't even elaborate. Some of our favorite entrees were the carrot soup and crab rice. Both were out of this world. For me the food was 3/5, service (aside from staff forgetting occasion of visit) 5/5, value 3/5. Also valet parking is $8. I'm still undecided if I'll be back. Need to recover from spending $275 on a single dinner. Ouch.

The fried chicken was well balanced, good brine and a crispy delicate batter. The bread with butter and jam was also quite decent. Seems to be a martini place but I had a Manhattan and really enjoyed it, it was a strong drink but very tasty. The kampachi crudo was very light but also flavorful with fun textures from the toppings. The mussels on bread were savory and buttery, really liked the addition of the large beans. The pappardelle with the wide noodles was so fun and there was lots of parm which I liked, and the lemon zest was a nice touch. The squash was soft and I loved the ricotta. The campanelle was really unique with the crawfish and the spicy sauce, the noodle shape was so fun. The cheeseburger is tiny but mighty, super juicy and cheesy. The fries were perfectly crispy. Mango sorbet was packed full of mango flavor! Really enjoyed this spot, can't believe it took me so long to get here. Probably best to get a reservation. Small parking lot available.

I might have just found one of my new favorite restaurants in Houston. What a great experience!…read more Recently, a good friend dined here and immediately called me to tell me how great it was. She then text our friends group and said we all had to come together and we did just that. She made reservations in advance as this place is popular thanks to recent Michelin Bib Gourmand awards as well as many other accolades. Walk ins are welcome as well. Our reservation was later in the evening so after a night of bar hopping, we ride shared in which I think is one of the best options as parking is limited here or you have to find street parking in the neighborhood. This place is literally a house turned into a restaurant. Inside is just multiple rooms with a couple of tables. It makes for a unique, intimate dining experience, perfect for a date night. In our case, we were a group of nine so we got patio seating. The patio is spacious and well kept, and if the weather cooperates, a great place to hang. One thing that really stood out to me is the amazing ambience of this place. I was told that the bartenders pick the music for the night from the owners extensive vinyl collection. Once the album is in, they play it in it's entirety. The sound system was systeming and on top of the great company and food, we were totally vibing with the music. Customer service was amazing. Every staff member we came across was so friendly, especially our server. The menu here changes. There are some mainstays, but they like to change things up. Their website shows current menus daily. We were told that family style is the best way to experience this restaurant. I am one of those people that will always listen to the staff and go with their suggestions. Our group went through quite a bit of their menu from apps, entrees and desserts. I loved that our server and staff brought our food out one by one in what they thought was the best progression so we could take a culinary journey. We started off light with their popular Dilly Bread. Best bread I've had in awhile. Next was the Texas Tartare. It was my first ever tartare and it was delicious. We then moved on to Fingerlingin Good which was a crispy potato dish with chili crisp and mascarpone. It was potatoes elevated to the highest level and so so good. Next up was Beer Battered Sweet Tots. I didn't think sweet potatoes could be that good. Our first entree was a vegan dish called the Carroty Kid. I could seriously become a vegan if all dishes tasted like this. It was curried. A bowl of jasmine rice would've made it a complete meal. Next we tried another famous Nobie's dish called Nonno's Pasta. Handmade, perfectly cooked tagliatelle with a delicious bolognese. I wouldn't share this next time. Ok, I will, but it was that good. On to the heavier dishes. First up was the Jamon With Your Bad Self. This came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. It was favorite heavy entree. It was high quality, iberico pork steak with shaved brussels and all kinds of other tasty ingredients that when combined made such a tasty bite. We then went to the sea with the Drops of Grouperter. It was good, but not something I would order again. It was a little too smoky for my liking. Our biggest dish that came market priced was the Kick His Ass Seabass. This was a whole fish that was presented beautifully on a platter with all the accouterments to make your own elevated fish tacos. We left no morsel of fish behind. It was absolutely delicious. One of the things this place is really known for is their pies. This was the part I was most excited about. Just like their menu, their pies change up. We got all their offerings that night which they presented on one big platter of goodness. Their main stay and I believe always on the menu is the famous Olive Oil Cake. It's not a pie, but I can see why this is such a popular dessert. I can't even describe it, you just have to try it to understand. The pies we had were the Black Bottom Strawberry Pie, Banana Rum, and the Peanut Butter Pie. I would order all of them again. We all had a difference of opinion on which was the best, but my fave was the Banana Rum. Overall, I was highly impressed with this place and kind of mad at myself for waiting so long to make it here. It had made it's way to the top of my list of favorite restaurants in Houston. I will be back.

Had a 5:30pm resy, seated outside right away that Saturday evening--it was a full house 45 minutes later. You'd be a fool to skip the dilly bread--a complete fool! The rolls are pillowy and warm. I could eat the butter by the pint. The fingerlinging potato dish is also a must have...pretty small for $19 but tastes like heaven. Spicy! Zaddy was being a bit of a clutz that evening and knocked over my $20 mezcal cocktail, so what does he do? Orders me another one! (That's why he's "zaddy") ....kind of wish he hadn't...so wasn't worth the price tag. Skip it. The chicken dinner was definitely the winner--fresh, juicy breast, crispy skin...don't be cute, you won't finish it unless your party has at least 4 in it! The flies were ruthless! Very annoying! They were acting like the geekers that come bother you just outside your favorite fried chicken joint in south Dallas! Our waitress brought out a table fan so that made the experience a little more tolerable. The chocolate peanut butter pie tasted like a salt rock and the lemon chiffon pie had great flavor but not lemony enough for me. All in all this place is a bit pricey but truly a gem! Until next time, Nobie!

Another frustration is their attitude toward reservations. Every time I've visited, they've made a point of mentioning that I didn't have one. This time, I specifically made a reservation through OpenTable, only to later see it marked as canceled. I'm not sure why, but it certainly left a bad impression. First, we got there pretty early for our reservation. We sat almost immediately upon check in. Our waiter was in training but did a really good job. Ordered a whiskey sour. The pink one, whatever it was, was really pretty! On to the food. We got two apps, two meals, and two desserts. Husband ordered the Brussels, Steak Frites, and the Devil's Affogato. I got the Bacon covered Dates, the Pizza, and the Sticky Toffee Cake. The Brussels were good - husband liked them more than me. They were good. Had cashews in them. Little spicy. The bacon covered dates. Think this was my favorite bite. Sweet, salty, creamy. Came we three & I had two. The pizza was sweet and salty as well. The crust was so good and fresh. The arugula set it off so well. Def a buy again! The Steak Frites was so good. The chimichurri sauce was perfect. Just the right mount of citrus. Steak was tender and the fries seasoned well. The desserts - don't skip them! The Devils Affogato we had the first time we ate at Sixty Vines. Had to have it again. If you like coffee, chocolate and vanilla ice cream just get it.
