This was my first visit here & I was very happy with everything. The service was great, they really took the time to help you, make suggestions, offer substitutions. The drinks & food were great as were the prices. We had the charcuterie & pizza. Both were great. The reason I didn't leave 5 stars is probably picky but for mostly an over 35 crowd, playing Rhianna & Keisha music just didn't fit, personally I'd rather hear 60-90's music. Zero stars if I could. Awful service!!! The bartender seems to have favorite people. I was also having a side conversation with someone. The bartender (that btw was drinking on the job) decided to yell at me. He had no idea what the conversation was about. He took it a step further to humiliate me. I'll never spend my hard earned money at this establishment again. The type of food they have is sub par as well. You can get much better at a classier establishment. It's also in a bad area so run away. Go to Rose or Final Draft, just not here. Way better food and service elsewhere. read more

My girlfriends and I keep trying this place for lunch, but the service is soooooooooooo slow. We go out to lunch weekly and we've never been able to eat here without getting back to our respective jobs late. What's even more frustrating is that the place is usually empty, but it takes 45 minutes to get our sandwiches. The food is okay, but nothing worth waiting so long for and being late to work for. We've officially crossed it off list of lunch places. I've been in the evenings and when you aren't in a hurry the vibe is nice and chill. I love this hidden gem. I watch the football games there every Sunday. Jessica is a very friendly waitress and the bartenders Amanda and Jetty are absolutely amazing. Amanda is great with her banter and never lacks for a dull moment!!! The food it terrific. I love the breakfast-pizza!!! The Bloody Marys are some of the best in town... Dropped into this spot by accident. Other place had all their open seats reserved (it's annoying when 5 tables are "open" but we can't be seated because everything's reserved, but whatever). Partner and I were honestly surprised by this place. Staff was pleasant and in high spirits. We expected "bar food" but what we got were delicious, well made meals each. Everything was plated very well, which was nice in and of itself. That being said, the true centerpiece to the meal was turned out to be the Cottage Cheese and Arugula Caprese. It was delicious! Great atmosphere and really good finger and bar food.the cheese plate is worth it! Come spend an afternoon or evening get some drinks and the plate of charcuterie. It comes with two different types of meats some really good toasty bread and some crackers. Three types of cheese, Honey, jam (two types) dried fruit and walnuts. So classy and it tastes delicious. The only suggestion I would make is to include a cheese knife or just a little knife with the plate for cheese. The wings were also excellent! I honestly don't even know if they deserve two stars. My friends and I decided to get some drinks and some late night appetizers. The food was solid and fairly tasty but after our drink experience, I question the cleanliness of this place. After seeing Downtown's promotion for their Ketel flavors, we decided to get Ketel with soda water. Our first round of drinks was mixed with tap water. Yes, Tap water. How do they mess that up? I don't know. To top it off the pour was definitely watered down. Okay, so we thought let's do a second round with actual soda water. Somehow this round was even worse. Just as watered down but this time my friend's drinks tasted like mold! A very strong mold taste! However, my drink didn't taste like mold. So basically, my drink must have been made last and the lines were cleared with my friend's drinks. Obviously, they do not clean their lines. Ya, pretty nasty. read more

Awesome spot in Redding, especially if you prefer a more laid back environment (think the opposite of Johnny's or Capone's that was there before.) What really makes this place shine is Julian, the main bartender. Julian is by and far the best bartender I've experienced in the Redding/Anderson area by a long shot. Definitely a true "mixologist," he can create exactly what you're looking for even if it isn't any kind of traditional mixed drink. All he needs is a little info about what you're looking for and he'll hit the nail on the head. He obviously has a natural talent for knowing what tastes go together. Plus they have a good variety of good liquor, including some good American/bourbon whiskeys and good tequila. Food is good too, actually better than good for a bar and grill. I've heard that brunch is really good but haven't had the opportunity to have it yet. Overall, if you're looking for a really good mixed drink and a nice bar environment, this is the place to go! read more

Went here for the first time tonight. I wont be back again any time soon. Withing 5 minutes of getting there the two bartenders got into it with each other about restocking straws and doing dishes. It was really uncomfortable and inappropriate. We were going to order food but decided not to after that happened. I ordered the "Stuffed Avocado Salad". It was perfectly prepared...one of the best salads I've ever been served. I thanked chef Melissa. One week later I specifically returned to order the same delicious salad. Except, this time the salad was poorly prepared and tasted awful. This time the salad was prepared by chef Ryan who was drinking beer at the bar and had reportedly run up a bar tab earlier on his shift. Before eating here, call ahead and make sure chef Melissa is on duty. If not, limit your food order to toothpicks and water. The first food experience was 5-star; the second experience was 1-star. Therefore, I rated this establishment 2.5-stars. ***UPDATE: After submitting this review, and contemporaneous to my visit chef Ryan apparently used business records to obtain my cellphone number, telephoned me, and cursed/threatened me as a result of my negative review. Fearing for my safety, I will never return to this establishment. As a result, I lowered my rating to 1-star. read more

Just a stop in on Sunday afternoon, the food was good no doubt and it came out fast. The reason for only a 3 star review is quite simply the attention of the server was poor at best. Fair drink prices for the ambiance. Good food. Has the margareta pizza and curly fries. Pizza is thin crust and from a wood fire oven. Curly fries were bomb and had tons of leftovers. Bar has a strip of snow all the way across to keep your drink wcd! So I've visited this establishment twice now. Both times the same bartender, Julian was there. He was very rude and abrupt when I was taking my order. Horrible customer service. I came the second time to give him the benefit of the doubt; that maybe it was a rough day the first time. But now he was rude both times. I just left the Downtown Bar and Grill. I've been there before and am familiar with it since the new owners bought it a year or two ago. I stopped by after doing some shopping. I thought I would just have a drink and then head home. It was about 3:00 pm. I parked and walked in. There were perhaps 4 people sitting at the end of the bar and they seemed to be together. I sat at a stool near the front door. I noticed a young woman and a guy behind the bar down at the other end. A moment later the guy disappeared and then the girl went to tell the bartender that I had come in. A few minutes later a large thick boned lady came behind the bar. She went and started working with the draft beer spigots. After that, she drew two beers and served the patrons at the other end of the bar. I thought I would be next. No. She then started wiping the bar down. I waited. I tried to get some eye contact but couldn't. I waited a couple of more minutes, then I decided to leave. The service was really disappointing. It wasn't as though she was being slammed by customers at all. So I'm at a loss as to why that happened. But, there are plenty of places to go and get a drink. I left and went to Clearies. Great service, good drinks, nice people. read more

We are from out of town and stopped in for a few beers and bar food. I wasn't expecting fantastic food and the ratings appeared to be good but... this was some of the worst food we've ever had at a bar. The wings tasted like they were from a cardboard box and just thawed out. No crispiness to these wings. The curly fries were even worse. Soft and mushy. The half wedge was a half romaine head with the regular ingredients but just was not good. We also bought two pizzas and the crust was like cardboard with little flavor The jalapeño orange martini however was very good. The waitress was nice but I felt I got a little attitude when I explained to here how nothing was really very good. Maybe if others had told them before they could/would make the necessary changes to the food. This is the first time in my life I haven't finished even and average order of wings. Hands down best charcuterie board in town, and the pizzas are fantastic. The fresh fruit cocktail adds a uniqueness to their offerings that other restaurants in town don't provide.
