I swear I've written a review for this place, but when I checked, nothing showed up. It's been a long time since I've eaten here, and the food was really good. A bit on the pricey side, but well worth the few extra dollars. I was here early on a Sunday morning and I was one of the few people in here, so it was easy to get a seat. Menu's pretty decent and the server was fantastic; one of the better one's I've had in some time. Anyway, I went with the corned beef hash and it was really good. Fresh off the grill hot and well presented. Bill was about $17 before tip, and I enjoyed my time here. It's located right next to Sargent appliance off old town road near the library, so it was reasonably easy to find. Parking was okay, a bit tight but my car isn't that huge, so it was a bit easier to get in and out. Will be back at some point in the future.

Delightful hole in the wall - seems the clientele were all local as the staff seemed to know everyone. Chicken salad with walnuts and Michigan cherries was really good. Prompt service. Local gem.

The place is small, very small so very packed. Chances are good you will wait for a table. I had a cup of chicken noodle soup that was rather bland and an outstanding Cobb Salad that came with like a banana or carrot bread, I couldn't quite figure out what it was. Service was decent.

Great breakfast / brunch place. Small cozy dining room but COLD when door opens in winter. Excellent friendly service. Fast and hot. Sit Outside in good weather! Specials looked amazing! I ordered a poached egg over hard and almost no one actually cooks it hard but it was perfect!

A tiny little place on Main Street but with the nicest staff. For our latest adventure, we came back to Rochester because apparently we can't get enough of it. I ordered the southwestern scramble off of the specials menu. The eggs with jalapeño and sour cream was delicious. It came with a jalapeño cheddar corn bread. That was a little dry but still had good flavor. This dish does not come with any potatoes or sides, fyi. They didn't have a kids pancake special but let us order a single pancake with chocolate chips, we also ordered a side of sausage. The pancake with chocolate chip was under $5 and even with the sausage came out to just $8. This is Rochester.. and they still know that you don't need to charge $2 to add chocolate chips to a little pancake. (I'm looking at you shine cafe of Troy). The place was filled with those that seem to frequent this place. I can't blame them, between the service and the food, I would be here often as well. Afterwards, we went across the street to the paint creek trail so I could burn off every calorie I consumed. We shall be back!

Why does this place have to be close to my house!! It is by far the best corned beef and hash in the state. I dare you to find something better, all you will be doing is wasting your money and stomach space. Downtown cafe serves the most amazing creme brûlée French toast and also my kids and wife love the pancakes. I think it has become a weekly breakfast spot for our family. I wake up craving the corned beef and hash. It's absolutely home made at its finest. My wife's goto breakfast is the asparagus and spinach omelette. This is not an over exaggerated review. Trust me you will love it. They have a really nice outdoor patio for when it's nice outside as well. They turn the tables pretty quick. Staff is top notch and you are treated like you should be. Don't waste your life on mediocracy. You deserve the finer foods in life. read more

We were actually going to already Greek, but they were closed for renovation. This place was the next one closest to where we were, so we decided to try it. Awesome corned beef. Price is good for the quantity they provide. They had no issues splitting one order into two. Will come back for the omelette and pancakes! read more

This place is awesome if you have food allergies. We've been eating here fairly regularly for several years and they have always been very accommodating with our crazy orders. They have happily checked ingredients and cooked our food as asked. Not once has our order been wrong, which is truly important when you have food allergies. Highly recommend. read more

Decent breakfast place. We would come back. However, we both got omelettes and they were both overlooked while also being runny. Very strange. Not a combo that I prefer. Bacon was excellent, coffee was good, service was good. Not a top 10 omelette but definitely not the worst so we will go back. read more

I love this place. The food is wonderful and there is always something new and different to try. The daily specials are what I usually order and I've never been disappointed. Love the fresh squeezed orange juice. The service is fast and friendly. Doesn't matter what day of the week Ive gone this place is packed. And the tables inside are really tight. I do enjoy eating on the patio in the summer. read more

Went on a Saturday morning and the place was pretty packed. The weather was gorgeous so I didn't mind waiting outside. I got the creme brûlée baked French toast which lived up to but did not exceed my expectations. A solid brunch place but not better than other options closer to royal oak or ferndale. read more

I've been there twice and always wants to go back again when I get the chance. I had my friends from Chicago and they were impressed. There are more options in Chicago but they were glad to have breakfast at Downtown Cafe in Rochester Hills MI. read more

My roommate and I went here for Breakfast on Sunday morning and I was not impressed. It is a very small location. Maybe 7 tables for 4 people and another 6 or so for 2 people. The tables are right on top of each other so you feel like you are in everyone's conversation. Luckily we got here at about 8 and there were some open tables, by the time we left there were people standing everywhere waiting for a table to open. There is no where for them to wait so they are just piled up in the walk ways next to all the tables. The menu is not very big but they have specials on the wall to round it out. I ordered off the menu and just got 2 eggs, American fries, ham and toast. Since I got scrambled eggs it looked like a lot more then 2. I did not care for the American fries. They were burnt on the outside yet gooey like mashed potatoes on the inside. It was a good bit of food. My roommate ordered from the specials and got eggs Florentine. She said it was good but for the price it didn't look like that much food. Don't think I'll be a return customer. read more

I love bringing my fiancé here for brunch when he is in town! It is the best place to have brunch by far, in our city! We love everything on the menu, even down to the coffee! I ALWAYS send people here for brunch before anywhere else in town and I always suggest the creme brûlée french toast :) read more

This is a great little spot in downtown Rochester. It's only open for breakfast or lunch, so go early. Nothing on the menu seems to disappoint. For breakfast, everything is handmade and super fresh. Muffins, breads, etc... all taste like they just made them. This time around we had lunch. Anyone who knows Philly Cheesesteaks knows it's all about the rolls, and this place does not disappoint!! You are guaranteed a great meal with fast, friendly service every time!! Love it! read more

I tried the western omelette and it was amazing! The toast is soooo good and the homemade pancakes are too delicious to pass up!!! I tried the blueberry once and wasn't fond of the berries but the plain ones are perfect! When the weather cooperates dining outside is really nice as well. read more

Breakfast is great here. The Benedict is delicious, omelettes are delicious... Haven't had anything here I didn't like. Everything is wonderful. It's worth the wait. The staff is overall friendly and rather enjoyable. Would be nice if there was a little more room for people waiting (esp during the frigid winter months.) read more

Brunch places should know how to do great omlets, at the least. Quality over quantity. This place definitely went for quantity. It was huge, filled with the requested veggies. One obvious thing is how the egg appears, either yellow-showing that it was just perfectly cooked, or brown- meaning definitely overcooked. Omlet was ordinary, overcooked eggs giving brown appearance. Very cute place though, maybe other items would be better read more

I love, love, love this place! It's small and always busy but I don't mind waiting 15 minutes to sit outside and have an awesome breakfast. I usually order the omelette of the day and my boyfriend orders the Michigan pancakes which have apples, walnuts, and cherries. So good! My husband and I were visiting from California and my Father and Step Mom took us there. They raved about the food, and they were right! Absolutely delicious and fresh. My Dad was telling us that the owner is true professional chef. They said they have never had anything there that wasn't excellent and I believe it. I had the broccoli soup and I split half a reuben and half a chicken wrap. Delicious! I only wish we could go more often! Definitely will go there on our next visit. read more

My whole family enjoys this restaurant. My boys go there whenever they can. The wait staff are very nice and the breakfast special omelettes are fresh and delicious. My one son loves the corn beef hash and the pancakes are delicious. The boys actually order two breakfasts. Not much dining room space so consider your mood before going. read more

We had a Saturday dealership appointment and decided to get breakfast after. I pulled up Yelp to find a decent place. If you blink you'd definitely miss it. We were able to sneak right in and grab a table. I had the Caramel French Toast with bacon. Both were absolutely fantastic. My husband had the breakfast sandwich. He liked it but wasn't amazed. He did say he'd be back, so for him that is saying something. The service was good but not great. He did have to wait for a coffee refill and our server didn't point out the chalkboard specials. For newbies like us, that would have been helpful. Never the less, next time we're in Rochester, we will be back. read more

My sister and I are from Florida and Tennessee and my cousin who works in Rochester took us to downtown cafe. My sister and I are extremely critical about our food as this place was over the top. Food was excellent, service was excellent would highly recommend. Can't remember our waiters name but what a sweet guy and absolutely adorable. Homemade corn beef hash was superb read more

We were all so pleasantly surprised -- I'm writing from the following morning and I'm still amazed at the change of this place! I ordered a couple apps -- the Brussels sprouts and the boom boom shrimp. The Brussel sprouts were a touch over for me with the meat not quite being crispy enough, but that didn't stop the rest of my table from finishing them. The boom boom shrimp was delicious -- I found the spice-level completely appropriate for something I'm expecting to have 'a touch of spice' while my husband found zero spice. Would order the shrimp again. They did away with the breadbasket of yesteryears and switched to real, cut, French bread with whipped butter! I had the French onion soup which came last to the table and I wasn't mad at that as it was HOT -- thank you! My friend ordered the tuna on sourdough which was perfect with beautifully crispy fries. And my husband ordered a giant burger, that had the perfect cook on it! Overall, we had a lovely time. The wait staff were also extremely delicate and respectful in nudging us to let us know there was a massive line waiting for our table (something we didn't realize as we were chatting and catching up).

I have never had a bad experience and have always left very content. The meals are rich, full of flavor and very well done. I think the price points on the menu are a little over the top, but for a hotel restaurant, probably on par.

Heard they had a decent breakfast. Only had to wait ten minutes for a table this morning, but waited 15 minutes for a refill on our coffee. The waiter never came back and gave us another refill. Service was sub par to say the least. The special omelette with mushrooms was good but could have done without the sand in the mushrooms. Place is very, very small. No reason not to refill coffee every so often and no reason not to clean the vegetables. read more

I went here for the first time with my mom. I ordered the quiche and she ordered an omelette. Both of our meals were perfect. We literally had nothing bad to say, it was delicious and came out fast with great service. The only thing that stinks is how small the space is so there is almost always a wait from what I hear.
