Only go for the zoom- it IS the best around- they use a totally painless procedure that is very different than the other dental studios around, so there must be something to it, because I have yet to see it since ( been to two other studio). I have NEVER had the same results, and have ALWAYS had terrible 'zinger' like pains after this experience, and was always disappointed. Highly recommend for zoom! They they do not take insurance for the dental practice, and I was told I had one cavity and one about to form so I waited until my dental coverage was available and went to Concerned Dental in midtown who takes insurance. On my first visit I was told I had 6 cavities. I got a second opinion and was told I had 0 cavities, just 2 areas to keep an eye on. I have gotten my teeth cleaned every 6 months since childhood. I have never had a painful cleaning in my life until the one I received here, which left me in tears. I continually raised my hand to signify that I was in pain (if the tears streaming down my cheeks and quiet groans weren't obvious enough) but the hygienist didn't stop using the cavitron. She basically told me to suck it up because she didn't have time to do a scaling by hand. She then had the nerve to try and sell me Invisalign. I had braces when I was young and my teeth are already straight with a perfect bite. The facility is also very shabby and could use a serious remodel. There is no reason to go here considering there are many superior dental offices in the area that also accept most insurance plans. read more

I purchased a Groupon for the zoom whitening and had a great experience! The dental assistant was great in talking me through the whole process and made sure I was comfortable because it was my first time. Honestly, my teeth were quite white to begin with, but I just wanted to get whitening done because parts close to my gums were starting to turn yellow. I was expecting a not-so-huge difference because I have bleached my teeth before and the results were never drastic or super noticeable (as my teeth don't stain easily and I don't drink coffee or smoke). However, after getting Zoom done here my teeth were NOTICEABLY whiter! I was honestly pretty shocked because my teeth now look FLAWLESS, but not to the point where they look fake. I didn't feel any sensitivity initially but after I left I felt MINOR sensitivity, but this feeling only lasted for less than a second. Overall the process was painless and the results were well worth the price. I will definitely get Zoom done here again! read more

On Saturday, August 8, 2020, I waited 3 and a half hours to get service, which took 15 minutes. There was only one receptionist at the front desk processing the paperwork which delayed the service I received as well as the 6 other customers before me. There should have been more than 1 technician to take X-rays to also speed up the process. I do have to say the technician was doing her best for only 2nd day on the job. Another female worker (maybe another technician) stated to me that she has nothing to do with so many clienteles being given appointments at the same time. This Manhattan Office needs to do better as far as setting up so many appointments and having customers wait 4 hours. Management needs to do better. read more

It has been a long time since I had had work done, and in the past I had gotten several quotes on work that were about the price of a down payment on a home. I had just about given up hope on things, and I barely opened my mouth when I spoke. The dentist, Alexander Kimon, not only gave me a ton of hope that he would be able to do the work so I could start smiling confidently again, but he explained things in a way that I understood, and reassured me that I would be given fair prices. I used my insurance coverage for the year and was worried that I wouldn't be able to afford anything more, but to my surprise the uninsured work was not as expensive as I had thought. I am so close to being done and being able to smile in full. I am so grateful for the work Alexander has done. He reassures me when things hurt, and he takes his time with everything. Very pleased with my Zoom whitening and cleaning! I got there a little late, the staff was very cool about it and when I arrived there they were welcoming. I did 3 sessions of Zoom(each interval is of 15 minutes) and it was all I hoped for. Hollywood white is what I got! When I got to work I had 10 of my coworkers stand next to me in front of a mirror and were all shocked to see the results. I had to send them all info on the this place lol I have used Crest whitening strips and I'm loyal to the crest 3D white toothpaste(for years) and they worked but never achieved the result I got with Zoom. 5 shades whiter... Ive been coming here for a little over a year now for my dental check ups and I have to say, I no longer dread going to the dentist. In a weird way I actually enjoy it (not in the little shop of horrors kind of way) I just love this office. You are always joyfully greeted by Roberta when you arrive., the office is quiet, ive never had to wait around to be seen, and the Dentists are awesome (except they always want to pull out my wisdom teeth, ha!) Filling: $155.00 Make sure you get a second dentist's opinion on if you need the fillings. In our case, my regular dentist felt it was okay to just keep an eye on it, but they really wanted to fill it and it was made to seem as needing to be done immediately during that visit or upon the next. I don't need a filling. The indentation was there upon the formation of the tooth, and has not deepened in the years and years that my regular dentist has been keeping an eye on it. 3. Oral Evaluation / Establishment of New Patient: $150. SMALL UPDATE: When we went with the groupon that time, we were told we needed to pay extra for the flouride treatment since that is not included in the groupon. They didn't ask if we wanted the flouride treatment (and if so it would be extra). So we got stuck paying for that. They shouldn't have charged since it was not my mistake. It was theirs. read more

I live in Brooklyn, but usually go to Manhattan for medical anything, as doctor's office have a tendency to be more aesthetically pleasing and what I remember visiting in the suburbs, cleanliness, politeness, etc. This office is more Brooklyn style, it's not dirty, but it's tiny and not...particularly nice either. The dentist is very nice. However, on an appointment to get 6 fillings in one day, the anesthesia wore off and I felt moderate pain through the last 10 minutes of the procedure. My main complaint though, is the unprofessional billing practices. I set up a payment plan for $150 per month. Each month the office called me beforehand and let me know they were about to debit my card, which was appreciated, though a bit unnecessary, since I'd already agreed to do that. However, due to a card number change (according to the office) they stopped withdrawing payments, and calling as well. I assumed the payments were still occurring, though they were not. I never received any notification from them that I was late or behind on payments. Then, all of a sudden I notice a $400 deduction at the end of January for the balance I didn't know I owed. First of all, you were able to pull money from my checking account, but quit deducting regular payments for almost six months because my debit number changed? Why didn't you just pull the payments from checking? You call when it doesn't really matter, but when a phone call is necessary, i.e., we need a new debit number for you, you've missed some payments, etc. none is forthcoming? Weird. The office was defensive, claiming it wasn't their responsibility to call me. And that I should have been on top of things. That the EOY deduction was automatically done through their system and that's what I signed up for. No, it was not. At no point did anyone notify me they had a policy to deduct all moneys owed at the end of the year in one fell swoop. Also, yes, we're all responsible for our debts. But it's just basic accounting and good will business practice to notify a customer if they're behind. They have my phone number, they have my email, they have my address. If you're looking for a nice dentist, with mediocre staff and shady billing practices, in a so-so office, go ahead. read more

I went to Downtown Dental Studio for a ZOOM teeth whitening with a groupon (139.00). I was a llittle leary about going to a dentist office without previews by friends, but I viewed yelp.com and felt satisfied with the comments. The staff was courteous and friendly. I was 30 minutes late trying to find parking - which is a nightmare - but the receptionist said "no problem". The office is clean and warm with comfy chairs! My teeth are nice and pearly white. The treatment does have a little discomfort associated, but the tech applied a desensitizer gel to relieve it. The pain wasn't bad enough to quit the procedure ADVICE: park on Barclay and walk up the street. discomfort on bottom front row / treatment: 3 fifteen min whitening section / you can only eat "white" food x 48hrs to avoid staining teeth - I feel bad for all those coffee and tea fiends :)~ read more

I bought a Groupon for a dental cleaning since i didn't have insurance. This practice is new and small. That being said, it seemed that the dentist was trying to find problems, and pushing me to do services which were unnecessary. The dentist said I had 4 cavities and deep pockets in my gums. Since i wasn't going to undertake any of the services, he recommended I do the flouride foam for $30. What a waste since they had the suction in my mouth during the procedure, which basically suctioned all the foam out in the first 20 seconds. So I recently got insurance through a new job, and had an exam with my regular dentist for a second opinion (Madison Dental on 53rd St). My dentist showed that I only had 1 cavity that needed to be dealt with, and no deep pockets. In light of this experience, I would be disinclined to refer anyone to Downtown Dental Studio just because you may end up paying for work that you don't need. read more

As one other lady said in the reviews, I felt like this place was just looking for problems inside my mouth. I was told I have 5 cavities. Come on!!!! And how I also have gum issues, which is NOT true. I brush my teeth and floss daily, so how would I have gum issues than. And I also felt that the dentist was inexperienced because he was digging into old fillings and basically loosening them up, like he purposely wanted it to fall out. This was my WORST experience dental visit. I used Groupon for all of the services - dental exam, cleaning, Xray and Zoom Whitening and I thought I got a good deal. However, my experience here has changed my mind. I would never ever do that again. The dentist didn't clean my teeth very well and she got my gum bleeding so many times. She didn't use whitening gel evenly on my teeth, and basically it didn't change my teeth's shade before and after my visit to the office at all. I'm so disappointed with the service provided by the dentist. It was such a waste of money! Now, I have to make another appointment to see another dentist to fix the problem. The entire staff at Downtown Dental was great. The front desk is quick and efficient, and I had practically no waiting time. Galina gave me the best teeth cleaning I have ever had. I had not had a cleaning in over a year, so her job was not easy, but she was patient and thorough. I had always had bleeding/swollen gums, and other dentists told me I needed surgery. Since the cleaning, my gum problems have gone away completely. I also did a whitening procedure - which took half an hour and my teeth have never looked better! After a bad experience with a dentist pushing for a root canal, I thankfully was able to get better insurance and came here at the recommendation of two friends. Dr. Kimon is great - really thorough with my teeth and answers all my questions. Saved me from a root canal. I don't feel like he ever looks for reasons to do more work which is a common complaint when people gripe about the dentist. Best dentist visit ever; I was seen by Dr. Alexander Kimon around 1 p.m. during the weekday. I used a Groupon deal for dental cleaning and X-rays. The doctor took his time going through the teeth x-rays and made related recommendations. We also talked about my cleaning routine and other habits. The cleaning itself was very well done; the ingrained yellow residue was removed and my teeth are now at least a shade whiter. I loved this experience and considering it's a dentist office that is saying a lot. The staff are so professional and friendly. Greet at reception so welcoming and friendly and the tech Tamika was fabulous. The dentist did an incredible cleaning, so thorough and professional. I only have raves for the whole experience and they take PPO's but I used a Groupon offer which was a great deal. But I was amazed at how nicely I was treated and how they didn't try to sell me lots of stuff just because I was a Groupon offer. Dr. Kimon is the best. Like you, I'm not particularly fond of having sharp drilly things come in contact with my nerve endings. Previous dentist visits have showed me how bad that can be. At this point I've gotten an extraction, a regular cleaning, two fillings, and a deep cleaning from Dr. Kimon with little more than a vague hint of pain. He was so informative, friendly, compassionate - I was having a lot of issue with my gums he took his time to educate me thoroughly on my gums and didn't try to sell me a bunch of products and services. He was aware that I am pregnant (so my gums and teeth are really sensitive) and he made sure he was extra gentle. I would recommend him to anyone!
