I was having trouble with my laptop, and after spending over 5 hours on the phone with Apple support, I brought it to Downtown Hi-Tech. I was stressed because I use my laptop for work and I was worried it would take days to fix. Robert was the one who helped me, and as soon as I started talking to him I felt more at ease. Apple gave me such a bs run around and with a quick phone call to Downtown High Tech they basically laid everything out. No bs automation , no waiting on the phone! It was such a breeze! When I went to drop my computer off for a battery replacement, there was no line, everything was exactly what they said it would be on the phone and they got the job done so fast! For starters, their location is extremely difficult to get to. It's located inside of a plaza/outdoor mall (FIGat7th) but on the lowest floor and in the cut at that. I had l call to figure out where to go because I got lost in the mall trying to find them. Additionally, the guy working that day wasn't at all helpful. He told me it'd be about $150 to look at my laptop and that would go towards whatever they fix (if they can fix the problem). My laptop is a 2011 model, and I'm aware that it's older, but I wasn't about to pay for that much money for a laptop that might not be fixable. WOW - Robert was so nice and helpful today. I am visiting LA from Atlanta for work and I dropped my phone on the pavement. The whole screen detached! I was right in front f Fig + 7 so I ran down to Downtown Hi-Tech hoping for help. Robert was super nice and fit me in (they were BUSY) realizing that I was in a huge hurry and frantic about traveling without a phone. He completed the work in about 45 minutes after understanding my urgency. It was a little pricey but I would've spent much more for that quick and good of service! read more

DO. NOT. GO. HERE. Read their reviews, look for the theme. My phone was fully functional before they replaced my battery. Robert, Julio, and Daniel TChinguengue worked on the battery replacement and when I got my phone back, both my top and bottom speakers were muffled. To the point of not being able to properly hear phone calls. When I called them, they were uncooperative and borderline unprofessional saying I'd have to pay for them check it since they only replaced the battery. The call ended with Julio saying "then do not trust us. This conversation is over" and hung up on me. I took it to the Apple Store at The Grove and they said yes your speakers are damaged, you need to replace them BUT they did me a solid. They are replacing it for free due to this situation. Downtown Hi-Tech almost cost me over $400 for fixing an issue that THEY caused. To make matters worse, the card is already glitching out again after one week of having it replaced. I'd never go back there again. The staff member who helped me on March 9, 2021, was rude, insulting, and unprofessional. I called on March 8 to see if they were open for a Laptop screen replacement. They told me that they were available and that I could bring the Laptop in. Note: They did not mention anything about booking an appointment through Apple. I found this service as I needed my battery replaced on my 2015 MacBook Pro and made the appt. via Apple Support. Other reviews are very accurate. I do not think the clerk there is intentionally rude, but more likely has little social skills, he is also very concrete/ blunt. The pro was that this site is next to my gym so was very convenient. However, the larger reason to avoid this shop is that the repair was 2X more ($442 vs. $195) that I found out later what I would have paid had I gone to Apple directly. read more

The agent who checked me in the took my laptop told me my laptop would be ready in 3-5 days. I find out later that its 3-5 business days. If I had known that I would have waited until Monday since I dropped it off Wednesday night. I called multiple times for an update and left 2 messages and did not receive a returned call. They seem to only pick up late in the day. I finally spoke with someone after 6 days was told that he couldn't give me the name of the agent that checked me in. When he realized I was upset about someone giving me an unrealistic expectation of the timing for the repair he said, "Why don't I go ahead and just cancel the order and you can come pick up your laptop." This was not only inappropriate but purposefully confrontational yet I am the customer. I found out when I picked up my laptop - from a nice guy named Matt -that the agent that checked me in is Raj. I am pretty sure its the same guy that was inconsiderate on the phone. He told me his name was Alexander but Matt said there are no Alexanders that work there. AND, get this, my laptop is still NOT fixed. I am experiencing the same problems. The camera on my iPhone X (purchased Nov. 2017) mysteriously stopped focusing at 1x zoom. I chose this location because it was an authorized Apple repair location, and because it was located downtown. No need to drive to Glendale, and wait three hours at a Genius Bar. I showed up at my appointment time (mid-afternoon, weekday), was seen right away. The representative told me that they would open up the phone, and because my phone was still under warranty, they would either replace the camera (free), or replace the phone ($99). Of course I braced for the phone replacement fee. Walked over to Nordstrom Rack, came back about an hour later, and they told me they were able to replace the camera, my phone was ready, and I was free to go without paying anything. Extremely happy with the wait time, customer service, quality of service provided (the camera's working like a champ), and speed of service. Bonus points for the very friendly dog who sat next to me during the check-in and check-out processes. If you're new to this location, the store is located in the tunnel between the main shopping area and the parking garage (park in the Target structure). Plenty of shops (Nordstrom Rack, Target, H&M, Zara, L'Occitane, VS) and restaurants (food court, CPK, Chick-fil-A, Mendo, Starbucks) to pass the time. read more

I needed my screen on my MacBook Pro repaired. They are so overpriced and unorganized, that I cannot believe Apple used them as an authorized repair company. They will tell you they are going to call you back, and won't, they will tell you the repair will be quick, and it won't be, and their price was literally $200 more than the other authorized Apple repair company I checked with. I ultimately went with then because they said they were going to get to the repair ASAP and that I could get it by the end of the week. If you can wait it out, go to the apple store. Lack of information plus the lack of communication made it hard for me to trust that this business was interested in working with me. Cannot recommend them enough. A million times better experience than dealing with the Apple Store Genius Bar, which never has last minute appointments available for people who work long hours. Phone was broken. I walked in and was helped immediately. They did some troubleshooting, sent it to Apple for factory repair/replacement, and gave me a loaner. I came back a few days later to return my loaner and set up my new phone. Customer service was so nice and professional. Thank you for making my life easier! read more
