The technician took the time to remove my head unit, completely disassemble it, find the issue, and repair it. AVOID. Terrible customer service experience. I wish I had read these reviews first before going there because they are true. Just go to Apple directly and save yourself time, money, headache, insult, expensive mall parking validation after they've eaten up all the time. I brought my phone in for a screen issue. The screen issue was revealed later just to be something that had been in the settings. However, these guys never even went into the settings at first, which Apple would have surely done. Instead they look straight to how they can make money. They went ahead and changed the screen, which ended up screwing up my phone and essentially breaking it. They still charged me for the new screen, which hadn't been needed. Then they sent away for a replacement phone because they screwed it up. I paid for the screen on a credit card because I had no choice. When my new phone came in, they called to let me know that I needed to bring CASH down to get it, even though I had paid already by credit card. They were worried I would reverse the charge because I was rightfully mad - so at that point, they had my phone and they had my payment. Is this fair or ethical? no. Is it legal? no clue. They do whatever they want citing "store policy" because they can and because they don't care about the customers. They're hooked up with apple as an authorized third party repair place. They get people funneled through apple and they don't need to care about repeat business, reviews or customer service. Its just that kind of business. Apple would have never done this in a million years. I didn't need a new screen. I didn't need to pay $320 for a screen, and I didn't need a new phone. They never offered apology, took responsibility, or offered a discount. they owner called me sweetheart multiple times when I expressed disappointment and that it was unfair (hello, we are customers, not your sweethearts). And for the record the owner doesn't seem particularly well versed with technology. When I finally went in with the cash because I had no choice, I got there at 10a when they are supposed to open. The owner trotted in 40 minutes later again without apology for being late. Who knows whats happening here, but please, if you want decent customer service try everything else before you go here. read more

Brought in my MacBook for a very simple top case replacement. It was covered under the recall for the faulty keyboard. I was told it would take a week at most. When I called in a week and a day later they told me it would be done a day later. I was upset. I was going out of town that night and I needed my machine. This was a huge inconvenience for me, because I work on my Mac. I went on my trip and called to check in a few days later while I was gone. This time they told me that Apple had sent them a faulty part. I was skeptical by this time because I had checked their yelp. Suuure. Okay. While I was driving back from my trip, 11 days after I took the machine in, I missed a call from them. Assuming my machine was finally done I went to pick it up today. I was immediately greeted by this weird snooty attitude and told that my machine wasn't done yet. I want even mad, and this guy was already super defensive and weird. The part was in, but they kept telling me that other people were in front of me, and -weirdly- insisting that it had been "just over a week". No. 12 days is almost two weeks. I asked when they could get it done and they said maaaaybe by 7pm. I've changed top cases on macs before it's a 45min to an hour job for me... a run of the mill super nerd. Who do they have working in here that it's going to take SEVEN HOURS to install a top case. Why won't they prioritize a customer who has already been subjected to multiple delays? I don't know. I decided just to take my machine back. I was sick of the run around. This isn't even the worst part. When my husband and I started telling customers coming I about our experience and advising them not to take there machines there the guy started shouting out us about how immature we are and making threats about calling security. As another reviewer described it was bizarrely confrontational and vindictive. Weird. Surreal. If you're out of David Lynch movies bring your Apple products here for a good time. read more

Today, 12/19/24 around 1:30 PM, I visited Hi-Tech after being referred by a local Mac store to service my older 2015 laptop. Unfortunately, my experience was incredibly disappointing. I had many questions as this was my first time seeking such a service, but the representative's tone quickly became irritated and condescending. I was quoted $200-$300 but wasn't provided clear information about warranties, receipts, or next steps if additional issues arose. When I asked about these details, the employee responded dismissively, even saying "obviously" when I inquired about getting a receipt. Despite his unprofessional tone, I attempted to proceed with the larger 256GB hard drive option, only to be told he didn't know if it was in stock and was "too busy" to check and would take at least another day for him to let me know. His visible annoyance at my questions made me feel unwelcome, and I ultimately decided to leave without service. Now that I am finally reading the reviews, which I wished I did prior to wasting my time, I wouldn't have made the trip. As someone who works in customer service, I don't believe the customer is always right, but I do believe in basic courtesy and professionalism. This experience was unnecessarily frustrating, and I'd strongly recommend additional training for staff on soft skills and customer interactions. I was ready and willing to spend hundreds of dollars, but the lack of respect and clarity lost them my business. read more

My experience with Downtown Hi Tech has been an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. I went in to have my laptop diagnosed and to replace my iPhone through Apple Care, paying $300 upfront for the service. I was assured they would call me when they had the replacement phone ready, but no call ever came. When I followed up in person, the owner was shockingly rude and unprofessional! Rather than addressing my concerns, he accused us of being rude without any reason and flat-out refused to give us back our property. He's holding both my laptop and phone hostage, insisting I sign away my rights to the phone just to get my laptop back. I can even see my devices through the glass in his shop, yet he refuses to return them! I have been forced to contact Apple Care, file complaints with the BBB, and even involve the police. This has been the worst customer service experience of my life, and I would never recommend this place to anyone. The owner's rude behavior and lack of professionalism have turned what should have been a simple service into a drawn-out ordeal. Avoid Downtown Hi Tech at all costs - they will take your money, refuse to provide service, and withhold your property with no accountability!! read more

I can see why the ratings on yelp and google for this place are terrible. I have no idea what these people do or offer. I brought in my apple device to have it looked at and hopefully fixed, as Apple sent me here through an appointment. I got there and after briefly describing why I was there for, they said they couldn't do anything for me. They didn't even check the actual device to see what the problem was. They just said "we can't check it for you, you should go to Apple directly". Made an appointment and wasted half of my work day getting to this place for nothing. read more

I visited this location to have my MacBook Pro serviced, as it was the one recommended by Apple's online customer support team. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The store manager was noticeably unprofessional and dismissive, and the technician on-site appeared disengaged and reluctant to assist customers. The overall atmosphere felt unwelcoming. If you're able to wait for an appointment, I would recommend visiting the Apple Tower Theatre location on Broadway instead. It's worth the extra time for a better experience. read more

skip! THE APPLE STORE! Diego seems intimidating at first glance. Plus my past experiences with small tech repair shops such as these has been really bad in the past. You end up paying just as much as the Apple Store and sometimes with no type of warranty. But trust me you won't regret this. Yesterday I had dropped my phone and my whole screen popped off. The screen still worked but it wasn't attached to the phone beyond the cable and the cameras and speakers weren't working during phone calls. Because I knew the screen worked I really wanted to go to a shop where I felt I could trust the workers in not trying to upsell me new pieces or parts that I really didn't need or that weren't necessary, I was looking for a good deal and to salvage my current parts. When I got in there they followed the same quote given over the phone (given we could salvage the screen), problem solved to confirm this actually was the problem (I just needed a new camera to make the cameras and speaker work again), and then quickly replaced it. They even reminded me if I checked in I could get a free tempered glass screen so he could remove my current one which had a crack. Overall great experience! Quick, honest and quality. Tip: there are both meters and lots in the area. You may be able to find free parking but you have to look a little harder. I got lucky and got a meter directly in front of the shop

I specifically told her I did not want to be transferred to them as they had told me it's the store that issues the refund once they receive item which they had. I specifically asked to be transferred to her manager, but she transferred me to a manager at the virtual store instead. Even Apple's own customer service can't reach them. They have done a partial refund instead of a full refund for an order that the driver could not deliver because he could not enter the PIN number into the system. I received an email from this store noting they have refunded me for the item, but they did not send any emails about the refund for the shipping even their virtual customer service has confirmed would be refunded. Apple claims to be a luxury store yet the customer service does not match that claim.

To mess it up some more? No thanks! Did I mention besides all that he replaced my iPhone battery w a generic one?? So now my phone has permanent notification telling me that. Didn't see that notification when he first handed me my phone back...he must have cleared it before handing it to me. I've been going to other places to get a quote...looks like they gotta remove the back screen that I paid him for to fix it...and so far everyone's told me that I gotta pay for a new backing since it will more than likely crack when they remove it.
