Update (5/25/26): Dandy came back today to install my new pop-up drain. While working, he noticed that the previous plumber had shoved one pipe into another because it was missing an extension piece, which had also damaged the adapter. Although it wasn't actively leaking right then, he highly recommended replacing those parts. I told him I wanted to think about it first. Right after he left, I noticed a leak starting. I called the company back immediately to get it fixed, and they sent him right back out. He replaced the damaged parts quickly and without hesitation. I called Dr. Drain to fix a bathroom leak. Hot water was flooding out of our faucet at an alarming rate. They were polite over the phone and sent out a workman within an hour. This was over the weekend, so it was incredible to get such fast service. Unfortunately, this was the best part of the visit. The rest did not go well. The worker spent about 15 minutes in my home. He dedicated 5 minutes to examining the faucet, the rest was spent on delivering his assessment. He told me that the faucet was old and that it would be difficult to get the necessary part to repair it. He suggested that we upgrade to an entirely new faucet system and quoted $1600 to get the job done. I told him that we are about the renovate the house and asked if there was a cheaper (stop-gap) measure. He said that he could open up the wall and cap the pipes for me for $850, but this would mean that we would lose access to our shower. Both of these quotes seemed excessive. I told him that I would need to check with my husband because these charges were high enough to warrant a joint decision. After he left, I looked around the bathroom and saw that when I opened the cabinet next to the shower, I had full access to taps with which I could turn off the water. (Full disclosure: I am not a plumber.) This stopped the leak immediately and saved me the $850 charge that Dr. Drain's worker quoted to cap the pipes. (Question: why did he not look into shutting off the water supply during his visit?) When my husband returned home, he took a look at the situation. (Full disclosure: he is not a plumber, but his father was a contractor so he has some experience with plumbing.) He went to the hardware store, bought two basic washers and replaced the worn washers. No more leaks. (Question: why didn't this fully trained plumber think of doing the same?) Good news: we saved $1600. Make what you want of this review. Visited my mom in daly city over the weekend and of course while I was there they had a plumbing (backup) issue! I actually got Dr. drains' number from a good friend of mine who lives out here in the bay. I got a call back and message within 30 minutes from Dixson. Gave us estimates for snake drain or hydro jet, and he let us know the issue would come back and suggest that we change the pipes in the crawlspace. We went with the change of pipes. I had a small leak in my shower, which "Dr" Drain charged me to fix. The leak was not fixed, so I called him back. Instead of trying to fix it again, he had his assistant shoot water through the tub overflow, making it look like we suddenly had a major leak and he said we needed $2,000 worth of work. I called him out for this attempted fraud and he then said "Oh, I just need to screw in your shower head tighter." This man is NOT trustworthy and does poor work. read more

Disappointingly expensive. Initially need a rooter job for the washer drain pipe for washing machine. Dr. Drain said the pipe was too corroded and it did have a few curves making a rooter job tough. Fine. My senior wife was told that the drain pipe should be replaced. Ok, fine, replace the drain pipe. 5 feet of old metal drain pipe (with P-trap) was cut off and 5 feet of new plastic drain pipe added (with P-trap) and attached by metal clamps. Less than 1 hour labor. Cost was $489.00. Then, wife asked Dr. Drain to replace 1 corroded water supply spigot ($10.00 part) and two water supply hoses (maybe $15.00) and for this: 1) labor to take off old spigot and 2) add new spigot, 3) take off old water supply hoses and 4) replace with new hoses was 15 minutes max, cost was $245.00. When I got home and saw the bill, texted Dr. Drain to ask for an explanation of the 2nd charge being so high. They texted back "we came up with $245.00 as we had to add a (water) supply hose and move your laundry (equipment) back in place. This washer and dryer was moved a total of 4 feet. All in all, paid $734.00 for about $30.00 of materials and about an hour of labor. Dr. Drain sent a $100.00 check rebate but I will say "homeowner" beware as they go after home run pricing. Workmanship is fine. Pricing is questionable. read more
