After asking around on Nextdoor for a good local company for AC repair on Toyota/SCIONs, people told me to check out DR. Freeze AC. After looking them up on Google and here on Yelp and seeing the good reviews AND seeing that they could come to your location to do the work I decided to get in contact and get a quote. Very reasonable turnaround after I requested one on their website. They called and asked to confirm the issue and where I was located. Swung by my house that afternoon to access and gave me a quote and said they could do it at my house and gave me a MUCH better price than what I was quoted at a dealership as well as popular Mechanic shops around. My compressor had locked up. My wife and I agreed this was a very good offer and decided to schedule the work the next day as they had an opening. That day came and texted me in advance of showing up, took a reasonable amount of time to replace everything we talked about, all while I was on conference calls for work out of my home office. Could pay by check or credit/debit. Really easy. Got the invoice copy over email with a two-year warranty. Very personable and saw that I was an Army veteran and gave me a veteran discount as well which was even better. So by all means check these folks out. I needed my AC in my RV repaired and only had a few days to get this done. Dr. Freeze arrived at the repair shop where my RV was having some finish up items done. He determined that the system was out of Freon 134a and determined the test ports had leaked. He replaced the test port valves and O-rings, Vacuumed and refilled the system with Freon. He charged me $535. He did come quickly and did the work at my site but $535 seems a little high to me. He said it has a 1year warranty but what good will that do me when I am on my trip to Montana. read more

He met me in my office parking garage, assessed the situation and gave me some good advice throughout the process of things to look for. JB was fast, friendly, and did quality work. I made a call to Dr. Freeze in the morning and he returned my call immediately. He came to my work in Georgetown checked my AC system that wasn't cooling properly and gave me a solution to the issue. He fixed it in the parking lot! Contacted Dr. Freeze (Jim) Wednesday July 17th. He replied to me on the same day (10AM) saying he would come check out my AC system that afternoon or evening. Didn't hear anything from him. At around 6PM he emailed me saying he was delayed and would look at my car in the morning. I replied "No problem. Text me tomorrow." The next day (Thursday) I didn't hear anything so at 11AM I sent Jim an email saying "What's the scoop Jim". He replied that he was still working on a another job but would try to be free around 4:30 that evening." I had to leave work at 4PM that day so I notified him of that and asked him if tomorrow would work. I said "All I ask is that you keep me informed. If text is easier, text me." No reply. Then I then asked him if he worked on weekends because I would be home all day that Saturday. There was no reply. Finally on Monday I asked Jim "Haven't heard from you. Are you still planning on this or should I look elsewhere?". No reply. I ended up booking the work with a company called Wrench (https://wrench.com/austin-tx-mobile-mechanic/). They booked the time professionally and the service was great. I cant comment on the work Dr. Freeze does because they never showed up and were extremely poor at the most minimum business fundamental of communicating effectively with potential clients. Very poor experience that lasted several days which ended in being completely ignored. Needless to say, this is not a business I would recommend. read more

I was having A/C issues and took my car to a Local Shop, where they advertised "Free" A/C Diagnosis. They told me that I didn't have any leaks, And they filled my car back up with freon. The Freon was good for about 3-4 hours. The Air was HOT... SO I went back up to the Local Shop(Gtown) where they told me my evaporator core was out. They quoted me $1,789.17. WOW!! And 90% of that price was labor..... So I had to do something else before paying that crazy price. So I went online. After searching multiple sites and filtering through Youtube videos to see if it was something I could do(love YOUTUBE for fixing stuff). I came across Dr. Freeze AC. I called and wasn't quite sure what price I would here. So after explaniing what happened to my A/C and what the noises were that were associated with my AC, he told me he would call me back in a few minutes after he sees what he is dealing with. He called 5 min later with a quote....."$800 including the parts". I was amazed that he was more than half price of the other guy. J.B. was very cool guy and very good at his craft. I definately will go back to Dr. Freeze again with any of my cars and will recommend him to ALL of my friends and family. If you want a straight shooter, who is laid back,hard working, time crunching, half price of competition with quality work, and local to this community, then look no further.
