My catalytic converter was stolen. While waiting for my insurance company, I reached out to Dr. Mechanic to help understand what I was about to go through. I told him what happened, he explained a couple of outcomes. I think he could sense my complete confusion and said he would make a few calls and reach out to me in an hour. 15 minutes later he called me back with an entire breakdown of what the system consists of, what to expect in parts and labor for the make, model and year of my car and a pretty accurate timeframe of how long it should take. After many years of my mom taking her vehicles to Dr. Mechanic, and being very satisfied with their service, I took my Pontiac Torrent to them for the first time. They are located down the street and around the corner from me, which was partly my decision to take my crossover to them and not to the dealer, which I normally take it to when it requires something other than an oil change and tire rotation. A yellow engine light appeared on my dash, along with the ever, on again off again, service StabiliTrak®, warning, and a slight constant noise when the vehicle was in motion. I dropped her off at 11:30ish and by 4:45, the problem was diagnosed, I was called about what the error code meant, given a repair quote, part ordered, and repaired - and it was a very reasonable quote. I was concerned that the light would still be on and the noise would still be present. Najif told me if it was still a problem, to return it and he'd fix it. Impressive. When i reached out to this company to do a brake job for me, they quoted me the price, i thought it was too high. I was out of town and had my daughter drive it there for the quote. When i turned it down to seek other options that would hopefully be more affordable, one of the men got really upset and it turned into somewhat of a heated argument when he threatened to call the police to say the vehicle was not in good enough shape to drive anywhere. He demanded she didn't drive the vehicle and it must be towed or else the police would be involved and he wouldn't give my daughter back the keys. So I am out of the state, my daughter is now scared of this guy, and didn't want to be involved in this anymore, I had to call a towing company to come pick it up, my daughter had to drive with a stranger which wasn't comfortable for her, to bring back to the house. After I got home, I ended up driving the vehicle locally somewhere else to get the job done for hundreds less. read more

I took my car into Dr. Mechanic because the starter in the car was making a strange noise and sounded like it was not going to start. Dr. Mechanic called me about an hour after I had dropped the car off and told me it was not the starter but my battery was the problem and that I should call AAA and have them replace the battery because it was still under warranty. AAA came and replaced my battery ( and solved the problem) at no cost to me. Dr. Mechanic could have told me that I needed a new battery and I would have never known the difference. WARNING IF YOU HAVE A PRIUS OR SOMETHING SIMILAR I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING Dr Mechanic! With our experience they obviously have no idea what they're doing, with this type of car! Even a shade tree mechanic with no pre testing equipment would start by replacing the least expensive parts first, not the other way around. And then argues with the customer when he returns the car with the original problem. Plus that the odometer had 98 more miles on it and they used half a tank of gas. I came here because my gear shift was jammed. I dropped off my car at about 8:30 in the morning and was told that there were people in front of me and that I could leave my car there and they would call me in the afternoon with an update. So come 4:30 I finally called them. Turns out I needed a special order of a part and I wouldn't have my car until Thursday (I commute to work so not cool). It took them all day to tell me this plus the fact that my bill would be coming to about $400 for all of this. I decided to take my car elsewhere for a second opinion and the part I was "missing" had just fallen under my seat. Blew a flat and pull right in. I stand there and the 2 mechanics act like Im not even there. One of them finally realizes I'm there. I ask if he could check my tire or repair it if possible he just blows me off says leave it ill look at 2PM and its 1130AM then changes his mind says go to Firestone down the street. Seriously. Zero stars if I could. I ended up calling AAA was towed to Allen Tire down the road. They had me back on the road in 30 mins. read more

I put training wheels on my son's bike this morning and took him for a ride. As we went along the nut holding on the right training wheel loosened and my son kept falling over as the wheel gave way. One of the mechanics saw us, a very pregnant mom and her young son in a pickle, came out, carried my son's bike inside, and fixed the wheel. It was a very kind thing of him to do.
