OK on the good side- I agree with others that this place has a clean nicely organized dental office. The wait isn't long etc that's why I'm giving it 2 stars. On the bad side -they run this like a business to extract as much money from you as possible it seems. One of the "filtered" reviews was similar to my experience. I had the same issue with the "scaling" which is a also called "root planing" you can google the words scaling vs cleaning. Anyways she kept charging for scaling instead of the one that is supposed to come free twice a year with your insurance. I recently switched to another dentist and he does equal cleanings twice a year that are FREE with my insurance. I asked him if I needed a deep cleaning as Dr. Nadi tried to push on me at every 6 months and my new dentist claimed that it is not only unnecessary, but something that a lot of dentist try to do to squeeze more money out of pocket from you. The minute you are done with your consultation they send in this aggressive front desk lady who tells you all the charges then how you want to pay for it. This is all while you're sitting with your mouth open kinda confused ya know? So several times I came and just paid with credit card. After a few times I felt suspicious so I would call my insurance and a lot of stuff they either overcharged for or charged for the more expensive things when only the cheaper or things that are included were performedd (ie charging for root plane when i was just gettin g a normal teeth cleaning) I have since gotten refunded part of the last time I was charged, after my insurance company and I came to the realization that I was getting charged for things. Another example is when I went there and got 5 cavities but they charged my insurance for 7. I was pretty mad about this one. So basically be careful here if you don't have really expensive insurance that will cover all this stuff. Also expect to pay a couple times more than other dentists in the area. If you decide to come here and money is no issue then I deeply suggest that you double check your bills and call your insurance company to make sure they're not charging for unnecessary things. I bought a whitening package that included full x-ray and evaluation. well guess what they billed my dental insurance for both of those services. I asked them at least 3 times that they were only going to bill for the cleaning ? they kept reassuring that yes just for the cleaning . I signed a paper that only had the charges for a cleaning . DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE!!!of coarse they found all kinds of cavities and I suddenly need 2 crowns !! They are predators they just want to use up your Dental benefit if your lucky enough to have dental insurance. read more

I visited Dr.Smiles since they were at my job offering coupons. This should have been the first indication that they are to be avoided, but I was in search for a dentist close to work so I went anyways. On the fist visit I was supposed to get a exam and cleaning. I specifically made the appointment for 9am so I would have enough time to get to work by 12:30pm. After the "examination" which consisted of being told I would need a root canal to fix a job that another dentist worked on and 8 fillings, I was told that the dental hygienist was busy until 12pm and would have to wait till until she was done. I told them I had to reschedule since I was heading to work. They kept pressuring me to schedule the root canal saying I must be in horrific pain. I wasn't, it was a mild discomfort. I told them I couldn't schedule a root canal since I had work and school for the next week. The receptionist chimes in "can't you just call out?" No, I have a real job where you can't just decide to get a root canal one week and just call out. Sorry to disappoint you. I scheduled a cleaning for the following week and received a call at 8PM THE NIGHT BEFORE canceling the appointment due to an "unexpected emergency." Went to a different dentist, no cavities, no fillings, no root canal. Dr.Smiles is a giant scam and I'm disgusted at the way you operate your business. Worse then a used car dealership. read more

A "5-Star" no brainer. EXCELLENT and professional in every way - superb dental care - NO pain, ever and I've been seeing Dr. Nadi for a few years. Her dentist husband is also excellent - again - NO pain. The office staff are both friendly and accomodating to your schedule. Dr. Nadi and her staff are always warm and welcoming. The wait is either non-existent or very short, the staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and facilities are extremely well-kept. When people say they don't like to go to the dentist I let them know my son and I LOVE to visit ours. Dr. Nadi and Irene Yeager, the dental hygienist, are considerate and gentle but still do a thorough job. Today, I was taken care of by Lydia, another dental hygienist. She was phenomenal! She checked my teeth and jaw, and was delicate to ensure no issues after my recent head trauma. Great work all around. Currently, there is work being done to expand the facility, so if you're coming for a visit, you'll have to use the door to the right of the normal entryway. The facilities are still under construction but I look forward to seeing the final product. The quality of service here at Doctor Smile definitely deserves a look to match the stellar service. It was already a good looking dental site, but by the time they're finished I'm sure it'll be even more impressive, like the outstanding service and care I, and my son, receive EACH & EVERY TIME we come here. Again, I can't recommend Doctor Smile enough. If more people had their dental visits here they wouldn't be afraid of the dentist. They would welcome the office visits, as I do. My family and I have been coming to Dr. Smile in San Pedro for quite some time now and we are definitely happy with our visits each and every time. It all starts as you walk in, the clean waiting room, comfortable sectional, fresh cold water, and a warm greeting from the receptionist, Rose. All of the amenities are state of the art, pristine, and non-intimidating to say the least. Visiting the dentist can be quite scary, but the bright and warm lighting for some odd reason keeps me calm and assured. The restroom is located towards the back and there are toothbrushes provided if you plan on brushing before you see the doctor. There is abundant parking available in a private lot that is shared by other small offices and a Mexican restaurant. While you wait, there is a flat screen TV and a plethora of interesting magazines (such as People) to occupy yourself. If you can, mornings are probably more convenient and less hectic if you plan on making a future appointment. I love how Rose sends an automated text message to conveniently remind you about your impending appointment. I've come in primarily for teeth cleaning and after each visit I can't say enough good things about Irene, the dental hygienist. She is so well versed in the techniques and is so passionate about her craft, which I can sense from her analysis and instructions. Even during a deep cleaning, I've felt comfortable and relaxed. The results have been fantastic so far. My teeth look and feel great. She will get on top of you about brushing methods, flossing, using brush picks, Waterpiks, etc. Another good thing is that she won't hold back when it comes to mentioning how much tarter and plaque has built up from the last visit. My 2 year old daughter just had her first dental appointment and my wife and I were so amazed at how wonderful the staff treated her. The assistants were so encouraging and Dr. Nadi, who has a young one of her own, was so wonderful with her as she wasn't timid and actually had fun getting x-rays, check-up, and a minor cleaning. The goodie bag was awesome as she was so excited to brush when she got home. Then I found Dr.smile they are AMAZING. The atmosphere is so calm. It's a husband and wife business and both are to great dentist. I went to Dr. Smile in San Pedro for over 3.5 years and have always been impressed. The office is clean and well taken care of, and the staff was always pleasant to deal with. They always remembered my name and a little info about me to make me comfortable. The dentists and hygenisists were always thorough and ensured that I did not feel pain during my appointments. I have had them fill about 4 different cavities, extract my wisdom teeth, perform 2 root canals, and numerous bi-annual cleanings, a night-guard, and a deep cleaning on one occasion. For those 2 root canals, they ordered crowns and they fit well each time. I even had trouble paying for one of the root canals and they worked with me like no other dentist would to ensure I had the best care possible. I've been going to this dental office for several years and it has only gotten better with the new dentists and staff. They have made some nice improvements to the office both esthetically and professionally. I've had deep teeth cleaning as well as restorative dental work and I've been pleased with both their work and their upbeat personalities. Just listening to the receptionist, Rose, laugh improves your whole day. Anyone can have a bad day but in the dozen plus times that I have had work done by either of the dentists and/or dental hygienists, I've left feeling that I've received both excellent care and that they really care about me and my health. Most of my excellent care has been with Dr Nadi but her husband Dr J has also given me excellent care. In fact he once came in to the office from home around 9:30 PM on the start of a weekend to help fix my broken tooth. What more could you ask for from a health care professional. Update: The office has undergone some renovations and is truly state-of-the art! I had X-rays performed on my last visit and it was the most comfortable experience I've ever had getting a dental X-ray. I had a few leaking fillings from a long time ago. Dr. Nadi was able to replace them all in one visit with no discomfort whatsoever. I was also able to catch-up on a show playing on the monitor in the exam room while my dental work was being finished. Then I moved onto major work which included tooth extraction and bone graph which I am being prepared for implant.The surgery went great and they did an excellent job of stitching me up. From our first visit to now (a year and half time), we are so happy we made the switch. I never thought I would ever hear myself say, "I like going to the dentist". This is the place to go to if you want to get ripped off. They are dishonest people. I had a regular cleaning and things seemed fine but six months later when I was due for my next cleaning I was told I needed a full mouth debridement, which is a deep cleaning. That should have made me stop and think but I am a very busy person and didn't have the time or energy to check into things further. I went ahead and got the deep cleaning, I asked if I pay in cash if I can get a discount. They said yes, I was pretty excited about that. Six months later when my next cleaning came around I was told my insurance no longer pays for regular cleanings. I was charged $75 for it. I should have switched dentists then but I didn't want to deal with that. I paid for it and decided to start checking afterwards for when my next cleaning was due. I called my insurance company, turns out I get two cleanings per year which insurance covers the entire cost. I looked at my insurance claims and guess what? Two full mouth debridements were listed there. I guess they decided I shouldn't have gotten that discount and made me pay for it with my next regular cleaning. Aside from being ripped off, they also have bad office policies. Two of my appointments I went to the dentist wasn't even there and I had to reschedule. They have 3 different locations so the hours are inconvenient. And the dental assistants told me I wasn't doing a good job of brushing and flossing my teeth. They acted as if I was disgusting. When I switched dentists I asked my dentist about my dental hygiene, they said I actually have above average hygiene and that I am doing a very good job or cleaning my teeth. I am now very satisfied with where I go to get my teeth cleaned. Please don't be stupid like me and waste your time and money here! read more

I'm going to kindly ask the dentist not to respond to this review as I've heard and seen enough from you people.... It's sad that everyone is writing how the dentist tells you that you have several cavities then you don't really when you get a second opinion. The same thing just happened to me! The doctor told me I had 4 cavities then I got a 2nd opinion and I had zero cavities. How upsetting! It's a fraudulent business to blatantly lie to patients and prey on them for their money. The area that Dr. Smiles is located in is an area of low income families, so this is basically stealing from the poor. My new dentist used all sorts of technology with cameras and TV screens to prove to me that I, in fact, have zero cavities. The dentist then advised me to filed a complaint with the Dental Review Board of CA! Business practices like these are grounds to get your licenses revoked. Wake up! Be honest! You are money hungry! On another note if you schedule an appointment it will most likely be cancelled on you and changed at the very last minute. The office doesn't realize that you work and it's a hassle to keep taking time off work to cater to the dentist. Last time I checked I was supposed to be the customer! Soft music was playing in the background and a movie on the flat screens in the rooms keep you calm and entertained. The staff is awesome too! I had to be talked into getting an implant for almost 3 years because I just didn't believe I needed one. Finally after getting all my questions answered, I had it done. I COULD NOT BELIEVE how simple and painless it was and how there was almost NO blood! I expected to have a bunch of gauze in my mouth for some hours afterward and I did not have to do that one bit !! Dr K was truly amazing and uses state of the art equipment so that he is always on the cutting edge!! I've been going to this office for about 5 years now and I rave about it to anyone who asks me for a referral because Dr K and Dr Nadi and Eileen and everyone else there cares soooooo much about taking great care of you and that you have no pain!!
