I really like this dentist ALOT ! Over the years I grew to hate the dentist & avoided them but I look forward to my appointments

Just wanted to share what happened when I took my daughter to Dr Smile on 17th & Gaffey. First off, the lady seeing her was very rude. Secondly, she told me my daughter had 4 cavities & they needed to put her to sleep because they didn't know how she would do when they filled them. I didn't believe them for a second, and put her to sleep? She behaved so well for a 5 year old and followed all their directions and didn't complain once, she absolutely wouldn't need to be put to sleep. I took her back to her regular pediatric dentist He did his own check up on her and found ZERO cavities. He said her teeth are in perfect health and there's absolutely no intervention needed for her. I definitely recommend this place. The dentists and all the team in general are super kind, they are pacient and proffesional. I got my wisdom teeth extraction and it was not painful at all, one of them had a complication one week later, because sometimes it is normal that things like that happen, I called them and they answered right away in the middle of the night helping me with some indications and they were willing to help me and did what needed to be done during the weekend (day off for them). Now, I have totally recovered and my surgery was 1 month ago. read more

I have been treated very well when I go to the office for a dental cleaning, root canal etc. I live part of my life in a wheelchair, after being a victim of gun violence. The staff at Dr. Smile, understands my special needs and are more than willing to accommodate me to make my visit as pleasant as possible as well as going the extra mile if need be. Irene is my dental hygienist. She takes a personal interest when it comes to my teeth and gums. She helped me find which products are best for my dental hygiene. If I have a question, she is reachable by email. Dr. Nadi, is a very good listener. If I have issues or concerns, she is ready to help remedy the situation as best she can. I did get an injection of lidocaine last week because I had a cavity which needed to be filled. I felt absolutely no pain when the injection was administered. I know this is important for some people who hate needles etc. In approximately 30 minutes my cavity was filled and I was on my way home! read more

I would advise against using this service. You are better off booking something directly with your dentist. Mine canceled cooperation with Dr. Smile (that should be a clue) and they will not refund me for my unfitted permanent retainer. They simply say that they want me to go to a strange dentist for this. I have not been to the dentist in years because of bad experiences and comfortability but when I tell you my experience here was so welcoming, comfortable and informative. From the women in the front office "Jasmine" and "Debbie" for making me and my moms wait time entertaining with great conversation and welcoming attitudes. To the dentist assistants for taking their time with X-rays and making me comfortable. To the manager "Rebeca" and the dentist herself Dr. Sung for their clear and informative information and very welcoming and friendly attitudes . I am the type of person who really struggles with going to the dentist. I get scared and anxious. I also have pretty messed up teeth so it's a bad combination. I never really had any positive experiences with dentists until I started seeing Dr. Nadi and Dr. K. This is a family-owned and operated business and everyone who works there really cares about the patients. They are kind and patient with nervous people like me and do what they can to make the whole experience more comfortable. Most importantly they are helping me get my teeth healthy and pain-free. I just wish I had started coming here years earlier! I can't recommend them highly enough for all dental needs. BEWARE! Not a "best business practice" establishment! I bought a Groupon certificate for a dental cleaning to try this place out. The facility seemed very clean and the location was convenient. I went in and unfortunately was turned away before anyone could even look at my teeth. I told them it had been two years since my last cleaning and instead of examining my teeth to see what condition they were in --I was automatically told that I needed a "deep cleaning" and that it would cost me $800. They would not even examine my teeth to see the condition of them! I walked away feeling totally cheated out of my time and totally unconsidered by medical professionals who are supposed to have their patients needs at heart. I've gone longer than two years without a cleaning in the past and have never been told I needed an "$800 deep cleaning" off the bat...without an examination to boot! I waited another few months and got a second opinion from an awesome dentists office on Western and Capitol Dr. RIGHT AWAY they told me they could perform a regular routine cleaning that day. (Dr. Lee) Clearly--"Dr. Smile" either thought that my Groupon was an indication that I wasn't worth their time or they simply refuse to use their expertise on an exam that would give a fair assessment of a patients needs. I'm not sure how this is considered a "best business practice" or even ethical...either way I won't waste my insurance on them or recommend them to anyone else to be scammed. read more

However that is not the case if I am to see Dr. Kayvon, he is very good at what he does and makes me feel very comfortable to the point where I don't feel the time had passed and all is done without me realizing it. I bought a whitening package that included full x-ray and evaluation. well guess what they billed my dental insurance for both of those services. I asked them at least 3 times that they were only going to bill for the cleaning ? they kept reassuring that yes just for the cleaning . I signed a paper that only had the charges for a cleaning . DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE!!!of coarse they found all kinds of cavities and I suddenly need 2 crowns !! They are predators they just want to use up your Dental benefit if your lucky enough to have dental insurance. read more

OK on the good side- I agree with others that this place has a clean nicely organized dental office. The wait isn't long etc that's why I'm giving it 2 stars. On the bad side -they run this like a business to extract as much money from you as possible it seems. One of the "filtered" reviews was similar to my experience. I had the same issue with the "scaling" which is a also called "root planing" you can google the words scaling vs cleaning. Anyways she kept charging for scaling instead of the one that is supposed to come free twice a year with your insurance. I recently switched to another dentist and he does equal cleanings twice a year that are FREE with my insurance. I asked him if I needed a deep cleaning as Dr. Nadi tried to push on me at every 6 months and my new dentist claimed that it is not only unnecessary, but something that a lot of dentist try to do to squeeze more money out of pocket from you. The minute you are done with your consultation they send in this aggressive front desk lady who tells you all the charges then how you want to pay for it. This is all while you're sitting with your mouth open kinda confused ya know? So several times I came and just paid with credit card. After a few times I felt suspicious so I would call my insurance and a lot of stuff they either overcharged for or charged for the more expensive things when only the cheaper or things that are included were performedd (ie charging for root plane when i was just gettin g a normal teeth cleaning) I have since gotten refunded part of the last time I was charged, after my insurance company and I came to the realization that I was getting charged for things. Another example is when I went there and got 5 cavities but they charged my insurance for 7. I was pretty mad about this one. So basically be careful here if you don't have really expensive insurance that will cover all this stuff. Also expect to pay a couple times more than other dentists in the area. If you decide to come here and money is no issue then I deeply suggest that you double check your bills and call your insurance company to make sure they're not charging for unnecessary things. I visited Dr.Smiles since they were at my job offering coupons. This should have been the first indication that they are to be avoided, but I was in search for a dentist close to work so I went anyways. On the fist visit I was supposed to get a exam and cleaning. I specifically made the appointment for 9am so I would have enough time to get to work by 12:30pm. After the "examination" which consisted of being told I would need a root canal to fix a job that another dentist worked on and 8 fillings, I was told that the dental hygienist was busy until 12pm and would have to wait till until she was done. I told them I had to reschedule since I was heading to work. They kept pressuring me to schedule the root canal saying I must be in horrific pain. I wasn't, it was a mild discomfort. I told them I couldn't schedule a root canal since I had work and school for the next week. The receptionist chimes in "can't you just call out?" No, I have a real job where you can't just decide to get a root canal one week and just call out. Sorry to disappoint you. I scheduled a cleaning for the following week and received a call at 8PM THE NIGHT BEFORE canceling the appointment due to an "unexpected emergency." Went to a different dentist, no cavities, no fillings, no root canal. Dr.Smiles is a giant scam and I'm disgusted at the way you operate your business. Worse then a used car dealership. read more

Dr. Nadi and her staff are always warm and welcoming. The wait is either non-existent or very short, the staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and facilities are extremely well-kept. When people say they don't like to go to the dentist I let them know my son and I LOVE to visit ours. Dr. Nadi and Irene Yeager, the dental hygienist, are considerate and gentle but still do a thorough job. Today, I was taken care of by Lydia, another dental hygienist. She was phenomenal! She checked my teeth and jaw, and was delicate to ensure no issues after my recent head trauma. Great work all around. Currently, there is work being done to expand the facility, so if you're coming for a visit, you'll have to use the door to the right of the normal entryway. The facilities are still under construction but I look forward to seeing the final product. The quality of service here at Doctor Smile definitely deserves a look to match the stellar service. It was already a good looking dental site, but by the time they're finished I'm sure it'll be even more impressive, like the outstanding service and care I, and my son, receive EACH & EVERY TIME we come here. Again, I can't recommend Doctor Smile enough. If more people had their dental visits here they wouldn't be afraid of the dentist. They would welcome the office visits, as I do. My family and I have been coming to Dr. Smile in San Pedro for quite some time now and we are definitely happy with our visits each and every time. It all starts as you walk in, the clean waiting room, comfortable sectional, fresh cold water, and a warm greeting from the receptionist, Rose. All of the amenities are state of the art, pristine, and non-intimidating to say the least. Visiting the dentist can be quite scary, but the bright and warm lighting for some odd reason keeps me calm and assured. The restroom is located towards the back and there are toothbrushes provided if you plan on brushing before you see the doctor. There is abundant parking available in a private lot that is shared by other small offices and a Mexican restaurant. While you wait, there is a flat screen TV and a plethora of interesting magazines (such as People) to occupy yourself. If you can, mornings are probably more convenient and less hectic if you plan on making a future appointment. I love how Rose sends an automated text message to conveniently remind you about your impending appointment. I've come in primarily for teeth cleaning and after each visit I can't say enough good things about Irene, the dental hygienist. She is so well versed in the techniques and is so passionate about her craft, which I can sense from her analysis and instructions. Even during a deep cleaning, I've felt comfortable and relaxed. The results have been fantastic so far. My teeth look and feel great. She will get on top of you about brushing methods, flossing, using brush picks, Waterpiks, etc. Another good thing is that she won't hold back when it comes to mentioning how much tarter and plaque has built up from the last visit. My 2 year old daughter just had her first dental appointment and my wife and I were so amazed at how wonderful the staff treated her. The assistants were so encouraging and Dr. Nadi, who has a young one of her own, was so wonderful with her as she wasn't timid and actually had fun getting x-rays, check-up, and a minor cleaning. The goodie bag was awesome as she was so excited to brush when she got home. I have not been to the dentist in a while because I hate them they always poke here and there and never really tell you what they will be doing, they just assume you know. Then I found Dr.smile they are AMAZING. The atmosphere is so calm. It's a husband and wife business and both are to great dentist. They ask if I am comfortable every few min and or in pain and if so they fix it right away. Dr. Nadi is also great with kids. The prices are very good also. I went to Dr. Smile in San Pedro for over 3.5 years and have always been impressed. The office is clean and well taken care of, and the staff was always pleasant to deal with. They always remembered my name and a little info about me to make me comfortable. The dentists and hygenisists were always thorough and ensured that I did not feel pain during my appointments. I have had them fill about 4 different cavities, extract my wisdom teeth, perform 2 root canals, and numerous bi-annual cleanings, a night-guard, and a deep cleaning on one occasion. For those 2 root canals, they ordered crowns and they fit well each time. I even had trouble paying for one of the root canals and they worked with me like no other dentist would to ensure I had the best care possible.
