That being said, I liked the little foil cups they were served in, especially when they didn't have large soup spoons. The noodles were really well cooked, and I loved the pork belly, but the portion was underwhelming. The cucumber was definitely the highlight for me though. It had a great flavor profile, and I loved the spice level. 10/10 would recommend for the cucumbers. As much as I appreciated the goal here, I likely wouldn't go back. There are a lot of spots in optimist hall, and I'm inclined to believe I'd be happier with something else.

I really enjoyed the beef fried rice and found the portion to be generous. The wings I probably would pass on in the future. They were really dry and didn't have much flavor. This is a ubiquitous Indian dish, and of course okra is common throughout the tropics globally, but I'd never seen this offered at a Chinese restaurant before. And the rapid cooking technique typical of the cuisine produced a delightfully crisp vegetable, which went great with a black bean sauce and some very hot dried chilis. On the other hand, their interpretation of ma po tofu had some fermented broad beans but minimal vegetables (sometimes you get mushrooms or peas or at least some leeks or something) and no numbing sensation.
