I took my out of town relatives to dragon because mings was closed, probably a Sunday. It was my 1st time there. I ordered the triple delight as did one of my relatives, the other ordered sweet n sour chicken. The sweet n sour was okay, the chicken was chunks of white meat chicken. The norm..the triple delight however used a dark meat they claimed was chicken, however it was unedible, a disgusting smelling and even more repulsive texture led us to abandon the entire dish. Lunch time yesterday with my daughter. We chose a booth. After people were seated in the empty booth we did not choose received their food , we had not even been asked if we were ready to order. After about 25 minutes of 2 staff ignoring us as they served others, we finally waved one over. I agree with another review here....very unfriendly and seemed to hate the job. I have been here twice in the past two weeks and both times my sushi was so so delicious and for a very reasonably priced. I got the asparagus roll and the Philadelphia roll. Their Kung Pao Chicken is not as spicy as I had anticipated but the flavor was good. A small is plenty of food if you're filled moderately quickly. The service is good. I would say that if you plan on eating in the dining room they have been a little bit slower getting food out recently, so it's not somewhere to go in a pinch for time to get lunch or dinner quickly. They do offer pick up / takeout though so if you order ahead of time I'm sure you could get food faster that way. read more

Though it seems as if we are regulars here based on check in status, I can honestly say Dragon Cafe is not my first choice chinese place to go to. In fact, the funny thing is, the last time we came it, it so happened to be the ONLY place open near where we actually wanted to go so then became our third choice. Not saying Dragon Cafe is BAD, but like Shawn G has mentioned, Dragon Cafe quality of food has gone somewhat on a downward decline as of late. Not sure why, maybe the addition of the sushi? Who knows. I can't really comment on the sushi other than the california rolls, but they were ok. Nothing to brag home to mom about that's for sure, but if you're eating Chinese and all of a sudden you so happen to want sushi, well, this is the place. My california roll, as I said, were ok. The rice was a little crunchy and the avocado in it may not have been the ripest, but in all they were edible. They almost taste like those you could buy at Baker's. Definitely not the best california rolls I've had in my life. The chinese food, on the other hand, is really not too bad. Like I said, not my first choice, but I'll still eat it. I usually get the empress chicken which breaded and is covered in brown sweet sauce, which is usually spicy, but you can also get it not spicy too. It also has some vegetables in it too. This dish is pretty tasty and is why I continue to get it each time I come here. The last time I was here, though, I did not get the empress chicken as I was not as hungry as I normally am, so I shared the orange chicken with my family. This chicken dish is also breaded and covered in a sweet brown sauce, but does not taste like the empress chicken at all. There are also bits of orange in it along with broccoli. In all, this dish was pretty tasty as well. The only complaint I had at this point was the fact that we ordered the family portion of the meal, you know, which means we are probably going to share, and we got one small soup bowl of rice! Not like we really need to eat rice, but still, we're from Hawai'i and rice is like a staple for us :) Besides our dishes, we also ordered the bamboo platter which comes with crab rangoon, egg rolls, chicken wings, the chicken wrapped in foil, chicken kabobs, and some other fried thing I don't really know what it is. This past time, I actually tried the chicken wings and I really liked them! The crab rangoons were okay, but since they are my favorite part of Nebraska chinese food, I'm kinda sad since I pretty much base my whole eating experience on these. They are crunchy like they're supposed to be, but a little too much of the cream cheese and a little to little bit of whatever else makes them yummy. In all, Dragon Cafe is a great alternative if we won't make it all the way to our go to chinese restaurant, or we're eating late and they are the only place open :) Food is okay, service a little lacking, but in all, not too terrible. We order vegan every time we come. Sometimes they still add egg so it would be nice if they understood that in the future. I just make sure to specify what vegan means and ask them to restate my order and everything has been better. From the start our server was struggling. He had the will but apparently he did not have the way. It took 10 minutes after we sat down to get service although they were apologetic about it. The appetizers were really good, hot and yummy. and two out of the three entrées were really good. The third was described as adequate but that high V did a better job with that particular entrée. We had to ask for our soups and we got them after our entrées had arrived. We also had to ask for silverware and rice. The person we were with said that this is not their normal level of service.I think we will give them another shot because their food was pretty decent. read more

Very good food and very good service at very reasonable prices. My wife really liked her sushi, and she is quite particular when it comes to sushi. I had the kung pao chicken, which was very fresh and tasted great. I would't say it is the best I've ever tasted, but definitely above average. The service was very good and fast. The waitress was super nice and very attentive. This place is reasonable priced and I liked the fact there was a choice between a small portion and large portion with a difference in prices. I think they need a new sign out in front to make it more inviting and up to date. read more

We stopped in around 7:30pm on Christmas Eve. Dragon Cafe was one of a very few restaurants open, and was pretty busy. We had: Orange beef (w/ plain fried rice): really good; very orangey. Orange chicken (w/ steamed rice): real good; not as orangey. Beef fried rice: good, but the beef was a little bland. Crab Rangoon : good. It's hard to mess this up. Service was ok; no complaints. Dirty tables were stacking up, but I attribute that to, probably, light staffing due to it being Christmas Eve. We will definitely go there again. read more

We've been going to this place for years now and unfortunately it's far from what it used to be. The quality and consistency have gone down, the prices have gone up and they leave little reason to continue going there. They used to have the best hot & sour soup in the metro - no longer! It now tastes more like an dull, brown broth which is unfortunate because it really was something special. Their fried rice is anything but - another real miss. Remember, we've been going there for years so we have a lot of reference. The sauces on their entree's are inconsistent, their to go orders are hap-hazard (many wrong items when you get home) and don't get me started on their sushi. Their salmon and tuna - mush! If you get any kind of salmon or tuna roll - the color and consistency of the fish is terrible. I lived in Japan for many years so I know sushi - this ain't it! If you're going to serve Japanese food - get it right or forget it! They try to "bully" local competition. If a Korean restaurant or Thai restaurant opens near them they add that country's food to their menu cheaper. Not better, cheaper! I've seen them try to drive (and succeed) other Asian restaurants types out of business through this tactic which is really disturbing. So - constant rising prices, degraded quality and not a community player leads to both write this review and no longer recommend them as a "go to" Chinese restaurant. read more

I've ordered takeout here a few times, but have never dined in. The food has always been good, and the wait is pretty reasonable - about 10 minutes - since I usually just order when I arrive. The only item I didn't like as well was the hot-and-sour soup that I ordered on one occasion. I've tasted better hot-and-sour elsewhere. That's really my only complaint - other than that, the food is hot like it should be, the menu selection is good and the portions are generous. read more

My friends and I wanted to try out a new sushi place other than Ponzu, and Blue and we decided to give it a try. For appetizers I got tempura shrimp which I only got 3 pieces and then it came with one piece of tempura onion, broccoli, and mushroom, for the price of $6 it was disappointing and was not crispy at all. I then tried the jumbo shrimp tempura sushi roll which was not jumbo at all and it was a small serving for the price. Overall service was okay and the rolls were not good. It was a tough sell to get me to return here, but I came back last evening, and I must say we had incredibly great service! The food was just OK, the chefs are obviously very lazy and sloppy back there, not cleaning vegetables adequately and they have no idea what they are doing with a knife as veggies and pieces of chicken were only partially cut through! Our waitress, the poor girl had to run the entire front of the house, getting drink orders, delivering food, and also taking payment, she did a phenomenal job and kept a smile on her face the whole time; give her a raise! read more

This was definitely the most disappointing of my experiences in the Omaha area. I like lots of variances at Chinese and as it was reasonably affordable, i ordered an appetizer and two small dishes, the crispy fish and a small beef fried rice with their combination appetizer platter. The platter had 4 chicken wings, 2 pieces of aluminum foil wrapped chicken thigh with some slivered canned bamboo and 2 pieces of crab rangoon and an egg roll. I couldn't do the egg roll, it was pretty miserable two bites in. The rangoon was pasty and missing crab outside of some flavoring. The chicken wings had no real spice or flavor, so i ended up having to use soya sauce as a flavoring. The foil wrapped chicken was decent and probably the best part of the meal. My Tsing tao was not cold. My entrees arrived and they were pretty small in size which was fine, as i had ordered two. The crispy fish had some limp carrot slices, pea pods glistening with oil and black bean sauce. It was terrible. First, the black bean sauce tasted like ti had gone over, a while ago. They had used a lot of it, probably to conceal the fact that I am fairly certain the fish had gone over a while ago as well. The fried rice was ok, nothing spectacular. Apparently, the only way the cook knew how to season fried rice was with soy sauce though. Lots of soy sauce. Then i took a bad of some beef that had turned. i decided I was done with the meal. Decided to try this place for takeout. Elapsed time from restaurant to table was less than 7 minutes. I ordered one of the house specials - Orange Beef, fried rice and egg drop soup and a dumpling appetizer. The dumplings were steamed and I am still not sure what kind of mystery meat was inside of them. In addition to falling majorly short in the flavor department, they were slimy and served on a wilted piece of lettuce with some sort of sauce that I cannot describe what it was. I have had many a dumpling in my life both home and abroad and absolutely love them. Out of the 6 that came with the serving, I ate 1.5 and gave the rest to the dog. The fried rice looked more like white rice that had soy sauce mixed in it along with clumps of white rice. No carrots, peas, or any of the common items you would see in fried rice. Nothing, just rice and soy sauce. The real burn here is that even with the soy sauce (or whatever it was) mixed it, it had zero flavor. Zero flavor, how do you do that magic? It was also very evident that this conglomerate never saw a frying pan/wok or anything other than the rice cooker from whence it came. Orange Beef . This was surely supposed to be similar to orange chicken or tangerine chicken. The dish was soggy and dry at the same time, a condition I didn't know was possible to achieve. The Orange Beef is supposedly recommended by the house chef. I seriously doubt that it this case unless the house chef and his/her buddies are ageusic. The egg drop soup tasted like it was from can/box or anywhere other than made today or maybe even this week. The Crab rangoon that comes with the combo tastes like it may have spent time frozen in a box before being deep fried and then claimed (per their menu) as the "best in town". The eggroll definitely had the look and taste of cooked from frozen. If you are considering Chinese food, do yourself a favor and skip this Joint. Go to your local Panda Express or PF Changs - where the local High School kids are turning out Chinese food that is better than this "Authentic" "Chinese" restaurant at the same price. Guys, I really wanted to love this place. It's right up the street from my job and should've been a great reason to 'forget' my lunch. Unfortunately, the service (or lack thereof) really killed the love. When we got there, there were four other tables. The male server was running around, all frantic...it was quite tragic, as the place had FOUR tables...! At one point, I saw a customer get up and go in the back to find someone to refill her drink. Our water glasses sat empty. Our table was never pre-bussed. The server was rather condescending. We our our two sushi rolls long after our meal. Service goes a long ways. Because this place is so close to work I usually get their sushi lunch to go. The interior of the place nice and the servers seem friendly although there is one hostess who's either the most depressing person ever or is possibly a robot. I usually get the $13 Sushi & Sashimi Lunch Combo. Don't believe the menu though. It's 5 pieces of sushi and only 6 pieces of sashimi, not the 10 advertised. There's nothing special about it. It's your basic tuna, salmon and tilapia (2 pieces each for the sashimi). It's the same with the sushi but you get 1 piece of each with a shrimp and yellowtail nigiri along with 6 pieces of California Roll. Everything is fine. Nothing is great. You get a choice of soup or salad too and it's the saddest salad. It's just iceberg lettuce with dressing. *shrug* You get what you pay for and it's only $13. Their roll lunch is marginally better and cheaper. read more

We placed our take-out order over an hour ago and it still isn't ready. I have been sitting here for 45 minutes watching other people come & go. I'm a pretty patient guy but it shouldn't take this long, especially considering how empty it is in the dining area. I should also mention that our online order didn't get charged to the credit card we entered, so i had to pay at the restaurant. The girl at the counter mentioned that online payment isn't accepted. Fortunately I always have a couple of twenties in my wallet for emergencies. But this raises the question of what happened to out credit card information that we entered on their website. We'll be keeping a close eye on our bank account over the next week or two. The decor is nice. They have a window/waterfall decoration that I really liked when I first got here - now it just makes me have to pee. ... We got the food after waiting nearly a full hour in the restaurant (about 1:15 since it was ordered online). The food was pretty good, but not outstanding. We ordered Empress Chicken w/ brown rice, Orange Beef w/ fried rice, Crab Rangoon, Fried Potstickers, and two orders of Hot & Sour soup. They got the order mostly right - they gave us steamed potstickers instead of fried. The Empress Chicken had so much sauce that it slopped out of the container and all over the bag. (I'm just glad there wasn't a hole in the bag. I would've been wearing it during the ride home!) Also, one of the soup containers was on the bottom of bag #2. The lid couldn't take the weight and collapsed, leaving the other bowl sitting in a Hot & Sour puddle. Overall, the food was all right but we had to wait far too long for it and it didn't survive transit home. We won't be ordering from them again. read more

I had it not recognize my order and get told by the staff there was no record as well. Really bad experience. The sushi rolls came out looking awful, and didn't taste any better. We all ordered different rolls, but the waitress combined several different orders on plates, and didn't even bring them all out at the same time...10 minutes from the time she brought out the first plate till the last plate was delivered...it was odd. The worst part for me was the food poisoning I paid for the next day. One of the rolls just tasted off, like not just bad tasting like the rest, something wrong with it. In hindsight, I shouldn't have eaten as much of it as I did. Needless to say we won't be going back. I hesitated between a 3 and 4 only because when you have bad Chinese, it's REALLY bad. So the food was ok quality and he price was ok. The three of us got food combination platters (came with an egg roll, soup, one crab rangoon and rice). He had shrimp fried rice, she had sesame chicken and I had general tsos. The food was all a little better than mediocre and we got it to go. The lady on the phone was incredibly rude and would not repeat anything, even after asking. I hated the feeling of driving there after a long day and really hungry hoping our order is correct. I didn't check the food when we picked it up because the same lady took my payment at pick up and she was even less pleasant in person. At home the food was correct and mediocre, which was more than expected, so yummy. We will order again but in house or in person for my piece of mind. It can be a little gummy but I think it's worth while. The lo mein is the best. They seldom get this one wrong. The fried rice is pretty good. I'm kind of skeptical when it comes to a Chinese restaurant serving Japanese food (sushi). I've been frequenting Dragon for the last 5-8yrs. I used to call it the best sushi and Pad Thai in the area. Especially for Papillion, Nebraska. However I'm not sure if the management has changed or what. The last 2-4 times I've been in the service has been horrible. Slow, unorganized and careless. Last night was a new low as the food quality is now taking a hit. We ordered a sushi roll, combo rice and sesame chicken. Along with drinks & crab Rangoon's for appetizers. The sweet and sour sauce was the consistency of kool aid. The hot mustard was also more water then mustard. It was disgusting. Our food arrived in no particular order. Rice. Appetizer. Drinks. One entree. Sushi. 20 mins later, the final entree. The place had a total of 4 tables with customers including us. How could they not keep up or organized? Did I mention they play musical waiters. You never know who's gonna help you. I don't think they know either. It's sad to see how far this place has fallen in terms of quality. I'll probably give it another try or 2. But if things don't turn around, I'm done and will never return. read more

Heard great things about their delivery so I decided to take my lunch here. Well I didn't like pulling up to it, first off. Was hesitant but I have been to places where the saying "you cant judge a book by its cover" really held true, except here. Got seated and there was only one other table with customers. I was alone, and waited for awhile. Finally got asked for my drink order. I asked if they had sweet tea, said it 3 times which should have been my warning but he repeated me and said yes he did. Well they dont! Placed my order and waited, then he came back and asked what type soup and rice I wanted. Waited and got my wonton soup from a different person. The filling of wonton didn't seem right so I didn't eat anymore. Got my happy family in a size small. Decent size. Sauce tasted good, shrimp was good, 2 scallops was ok but the chicken was questionable. Had several pieces that seemed way too hard and others rubbery (which I had to spit out) then some ok. Had to stop eating. Sooo needless to say I should've went to thai orchard around the corner! They have an extensive menu so maybe I just ordered the wrong thing? read more

Consistently unacceptable delivery times, always waiting at least an hour plus and usually forgets several items in the order. We only continued to order from them because they deliver to our work, but no more. Today I had to call them after an hour, they didn't even notice our online order, then blamed me for paying online. Then they took another half hour, forgot someone's order and texted me they would give me a credit for our next order. I replied that would not be an acceptable fix, so they brought us some super stale, cold crab rangoon. Rude as hell and terrible experiences. Wong's is way better and has a drive thru. read more

I was really excited to try this restaurant as it came highly recommended from a friend. I will not be eating here again. I ordered crab Rangoon, dumplings, and braised sesame chicken. The crab Rangoon are fine...nothing spectacular but not bad, the dumplings were overdone and flavorless served with a sauce that you could salt about 10 orders of French fries. The braised sesame chicken was cold and the skin was limp...last time I checked braised chicken should be crispy and delicious. The sauce on the chicken also seriously lacked flavor. Needless to say, I will not be coming back. The best Chinese I have had in this area has been sina way in Bellevue but it is a lot further from my house. read more

This was awful. We have been eating Dragon Cafe for 15+ years. Delivery in the last 2 years. It has progressively been worse and worse. Delivery is always at least 1 hour. The driver is arrogant, rude, and IT IS ALWAYS WRONG. Today, the sushi was just plain nasty. The fish smelled old. the avocado was dark and MUSHY.
