If you are looking for outstanding Chinese cuisine- go some place else. If you are looking for decent food offered at a decent price with decent flavor this is it. The buffet is well appointed and if you go during a peak meal time it's well stocked and fresh. The waitstaff that we have dealt with- Shon and Albert are always friendly and make sure my water glass is never empty for long. Our favorite things here are the hot wings, the fried fish and the steamed salmon. I know, I know- hot wings aren't Chinese.. But you take yum where ever you can get it! The fact that they are all you can eat is just golden! The fried fish and salmon are, I cant describe it. I generally hate fish but this is one of 2 places I crave it from. I like wasabi with my sushi and theirs is a little runny for my taste. But they make up for it with soft serv. read more

My husband and I have been coming here for YEARS.... Called for take out last night and was told they would not sell me an item (Jalapeno Chicken) to go. You can come in and have it - but we will NOT let you order to go. When I explained we have ordered this dish on many occasions - I was told well not anymore! Won't go back - it's BS to offer a dish and continue to offer it but exclude it from to go orders. If I went in and got "buffet to go" I could have filled a container with as much as I wanted of this dish - they simply won't put it in a to go container... Would not tell me why. My family and I stopped by here for a little food on our way south from Big Sur. Wasn't expecting much from here but was pleasantly surprised due to the diversity of food dishes and quality. Their teriyaki chicken was great and their hot sour soup was amazing. Their bathroom was clean and their staff was on point. And the best part Is their price was pretty cheap at $11.95! Pretty much the only place to go for Chinese food in SLO County. If the place were in any other city, it would probably get 4 stars, but since it's here, 5+!! They have korean-style BBQ ribs most of the time that my husband goes crazy for ... crazy enough that I limit him to dragging me the 30 mile drive to only once a month. They're really good, I admit, but it's also 30 MILES. Pass on the sushi, everything else is great! The soft serve is phenomenal. Seriously! Meh.. Just your typical greasy, tasteless or overseasoned Chinese food (not that I have anything against Chinese cuisine.. just buffet Chinese food is horrible). Food made with... hate. The chicken's so dry. I feel bad for the animals that were sacrificed for these dishes T_T Anyway! We didn't have much of a choice to eat here since this was one of our tour bus stops. When hubby and I were visiting the Central Coast recently we made it a priority to stop at Dragon Palace. We've missed their grub! We used to eat here regularly before we moved out of the area, and as usual this place did not disappoint. We stopped in for lunch, and the food was fresh and plentiful. Im a hungry pregnant lady and After eating here I feel bad that my unborn child was exposed to this terrible, and probably health code-failing food. I gave this place a shot and things look okay at first glance, but upon ingesting I realized that every dish was disgusting! Went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon at lunchtime. The food was hot and the options were plenty. The hot tea is one of the best hot teas I have ever had! The servers don't really do much except remove dirty plates. I thought it was odd that we had to get our own drinks and refills. I agree with everyone who says this is a great place "for the central coast." It really is very good, but maybe not what you would rightfully expect in a larger city. I went during lunchtime and it was fairly busy. The dishes I tried were mostly hot and fresh: The potstickers were crispy and hot, the veggies were cooked just enough, the dishes had a good amount of spice, etc. etc. The peel and eat shrimp were overcooked and difficult to peel, though they were served with fresh hot peppers and cilantro. The house specialty spareribs were very good as another reviewer suggested. The price was about right too. It's about five bucks more than what I would normally spend at, say, Panda, however it's worth it for the extra variety. The place was clean, the people friendly, and the food was good. Yeah not good! I tried a lot of the different items. The food here was horrible. The service was worse! No one came to our table even once. No water was ever offered. The price? $16.75 per person. Are you frigging kidding? This was maybe worth 5 buck at best. I tried dog food as a child and it was better. Wait ,..... let me restate this. We eat here often, usually on a weekday. As always, big selection of good food. I must agree with another review that food is hottest and most fresh at peak mealtimes. The orange chicken is always tasty and one of our favorites. I like the scallops. Veggies such as beans and brocolli are never over cooked but fresh and crisp. Today a new dish...deep fried shrimp. The atmosphere and noise level was good. The restrooms were clean. The entrees were hit or miss. I did not like the sushi, however I liked the desserts. The Chinese food was hit and miss. The best strategy is to try a little of everything and see what works and what does not work. read more

The food is old and sits for a very long time. The salad is brown on the edges. Rice was very dry, I don't even know how to make rice but when I do it's not dry like that it's sticky like it should be. The lemonade taste like the fountain is dirty. They need to remove them spouts and wash them in hot water every night. They did clear the table each time a plate was used and they were very nice, That I noticed. That's where the one star comes in. Place it outdated, pricey for what they serve. They are a little pricey but they are also the best Chinese buffet between Paso and Santa Maria. The food at dragon palace, is really good. But i wish they would have a change in variety of foods, its always the same thing everyday. The price is about 11 bucks per person, and there are plenty of entrees, like chow mein, fried rice, beef and broccoli. The drinks are free refills, but the waiter never come over and refill my drink, so if you expect great service, it helps if you get the older looking waiters. The younger ones, kept running into customers they knew and would sit there and talk to them, while not doing there job, and helping everyone.
